I want to argue the objective.
Does that come under policy? Sincere question.

"The problem with any story about this region that focuses on intelligence reports is that the intelligence can easily offer contradictory information:"

The real problem with any story about this region that focuses on intelligence reports is that in general, the US intelligence community doesn't know shit about the region.

And only one perspective gets a pay off for their spouse.

That should reassure people who are sending their children off to die.

I want someone in the press willing to find a single General willing to go on the record about how are we going to pay for these wars.
Thats Congress's job won't work the Pentagon needs to plan for a budget because 7 years of wild war spending IS IT.
If the Generals can't win a war in 7 years then its time to admit defeat! Worlds Last Super Power, Best Army in the World...and they still lose!
In other countries there Pensions and even their lives would be gone!
But here they have the gall to demand One More Chance!
This sounds like a Country song about an ex husband who never did any good creepin around the back door screaming One More Chance!

Maybe Afghanistan does not want Americans in Afghanistan doing democracy missionary work. After what befell Iraq American democracy missionary work does not really seem very sincere or capable of convincing the natives it is really great---really it is---never mind Xe or that torture stuff.

Maybe WashingtonDC,the Pentagon, the CIA and some big and wealthy corporatists are not telling the truth as to why Afghanistan is on the you get our democracy like it or not list?

There is a lot of energy to be exploited in lands north of Afghanistan that will require pipelines, supply lines and stable investment framing all of which are powering WashingtonDCs interest in Afghanistan which goes back to the Bill Clinton WH. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney have fingerprints all over this to be sure.

This is not about Afghanis getting democracy. This is about resource exploitation/transit security or gaining control of lands bordering Iran to the east as well as from Iraq to the west of Iran in order to present Iran with very real military threats as WashingtonDC may desire or does desire to fulfil.

Then there is the matter of Pakistan and that is not independent of above considerations either.

It would be more useful if the Pentagon would stop the lie telling for the hidden interests behind what is really driving this AF-Pak conflict seeking on part of WashingtonDC.

Are there any real American patriots in the Pentagon capable of telling the truth? Any?

OT, one thing that I like about FDL is that we are frequently given actions we can take, petitions to sign, critters to call and so forth. It's very important to turn concern and anger into action. The pups are well informed but the fact that they are become ACTION pups is crucial to getting change. Jane is a giant in this.

We need more action.
