Suzie-Q…!
hey ct – ya got the zed i see
I’m having to use my toes now to keep track of ‘em… I don’t count any of Attaturk’s posts tho…! ;-)
EPU’d
Margot: what is snood?
jayt: Interesting. I’ve only been a client of lawyers, not on the other side of the relationship, so I appreciate your telling the lawyer’s POV. I have been told that white shoe lawyers in NYC (had one for awhile in my will contest until I fired him) attempt never to go to trial, pressure clients into settlements so that they won’t have any “losses” on their resume. Any comments?
hey ecahn – how’s life on the hudson?
Oh here’s a glitch for the genies of the disc. I made a minor edit in my 4 and the carriage returns, which show up in the edit box, disappear when I click on save.
i know that one is on their list ecahn. i am hoping by this time tomorrow, a lot of to do’s will be done.
Well, I started my bushhogging, once the farm equipment guy fixed it, then it rained, then (today) I got involved in a good book. Year before last, I got the tractor stuck in the mud while bushhogging, which is my excuse for not getting on task today, sunny though it was.
Farming (such as you might call what I do) does not make for scintillating conversation.
Suz,
1. How’s the diving? Haven’t caught any of your spectaculars recently.
2. How’s the lovely spot you’re living in? Last I saw pics was ice storm, iirc.
lessons learned. what is ordinary to you is not to me — i’ve never lived on a farm. when i was a kid, we would visit my grandparents farm in kentucky. milk from the cow, bringing in water from the well, and an outhouse way of life. haven’t been back since i was 16 and the farm is no more.
click on my name and you will get the latest :)
too cold to dive — was diving on sat nites this summer but am wearing fleece tonight.
It’s a sort of bubble shooter game that lowers bit by bit, but it’s in various patterns and you can sort of play it like shooting pool, hitting the wall and letting the ball ricochet. It has many levels and is just something fun to do while waiting for spaghetti to cook, etc.

hey margot – how’s ohio tonight?
About 2 weeks ago, I was mowing the lawn near the road. A car pulled into the driveway and the driver got out. I mowed up to him, and shut off the mower, inquiring whether there was something I could do for him. Turns out he had stayed at the house in the summers of 1950 and 1951, when he was 8 and 9 years old, and it was a boarding house as well as a farm. I gave him a complete tour, and he told me some wonderful stories about how much fun he had. He was living in the Bronx then, near Saratoga Springs now, and went up to the “country” as a vacation.
Heh. I’ve lit my fires (wood stove in kitchen and upstairs fireplace) already.
grandpa passed and grandma is now in assisted living (she’s 94). when the farm sold, it was written in that we, the family, have access to and control over, the family cemetery in perpetuity.
i’ve had one going most every evening all year. mainly a wee one to chase the damp away. sounds like the stove is gonna get its first good workout of the season.
It’s cold right now. I have an eye out for deer on the roads, they’ve been coming into town the last few years.
we get elk around sunset in the usual spaces. haven’t seen deer lately and a lot of the birds are headed south.
Wow, a lot of blasts from the past popped in on Loo Hoo’s Katymine post… TRex, LHP, etc…! 8-)
of course, ct lives in paradise where the seasons don’t change.
Clicked on the link, but didnt get it. Will try again tomorrow, when I’m more compos mentos.
left you one downstairs
Suzanne!
eCAHN, nice to see you gracing LL. Weeks ago you talked about organic drain cleaning on some thread I later read. Reminded me I had 2 very slow ones and tried baking soda and vinegar. Worked like a charm.
Don’t think I’d ever opened a shower drain before — yikes!
Heh, you’re mostly right, M’dear… However we’ve already had a few snows up here…! Nothing has stuck yet…! ;-)
hey jayt – how’s indiana tonight?
hey sunny – whazzup?
I have been having a conversation with MrCE, MsCE and others about common courtesy, love of family, and learning to love this generation. I have been married to MrCE for 34 years. My adult children are living in New York, and are finding both failure and success in NYC. What do you think?
hey ce – love is the glue that holds us together.
I just found out the other day that the parents (for whom I spent the day doing manual labor) already have my burial spot picked out, inspected, selected, neglected and paid for.
cock-eyed optimists, they are.
Loo Hoo did a very good thing posting the diary.
I tried to get hotel/air there, there. Almost 1,500$$. I am missing them!
I am in the process of trying to single-handedly hold off winter via a stubborn refusal to stop wearing the summer-weight suits.
I’ll let you know.
Most certainly…!
You have some memory. Any comment I posted about drain cleaners is courtesy of my environmental contractor, who (derivative of me) thanks you for remembering.
good luck with that dood — does the wearing of include hidden long johns?
(((ce))) baby girl is in kansas. gonna see jen (the bride) on the 19th.
Isn’t that cool!!!
My parents purchased a plot for our family. At a *close* family funeral, a relative asked my sister and me to pose for a photo standing on our own intended graves.
Thanks. I’ve been screwed over by the legal system six ways from Sunday. Survived it all, courtesy of an amazing lawyer who was a triumpherate friend of my late husband. Have been left with a contempt for the whole procedure. (My lawyer savior died of massive aortic aneurism.)
Oh, huge hugs…
Talk about adding insult to injury…
Tehran Plans to Execute 3 Protesters of Election
Did the sale of the farm pay debts?
hey loohoo – how’s socal tonight?
What about the train, or would that take too long?
umm – not yet. At that point, I might yield.
P.S. jayt’s fashion tip o’the week: If you gotta wear a suit every day, you really oughta wear sneakers on at least one of those days….
Yup, Lots of good ol guys and gals. WangDangDoodle too! katymine is loved.
Yep; was a great experience.
she could not manage it anymore. all 10 surviving kids had lives of their own and could not move there. it was a long sometimes painful process but … she is happy at her assisted living facility in a town where my aunt the nurse lives.
What’s the magic formula?
Hey, Suz… I bet you’re glad ya left…
And how, eh…? ;-)
Have been left with a contempt for the whole procedure.
Eminently understandable.
I’ve done a few nights for contempt myself.
Great job…! *g*
oh yeah (in best ferris voice)
Hey Margot!
No. Trains to NYC made me change to another station, at 7:00 a.m.
*G*
707…!
So you’re the opposite of a zombie?
Mighty fine. We’d love rain, of course.
Well time for me to head outside for the next hour… Ta Ta…! ;-)
me too — supposed to get some most of this coming week starting mon/mon night.
At a *close* family funeral, a relative asked my sister and me to pose for a photo standing on our own intended graves.
As your attorney, I would advise that you never invite this particular relative over, except maybe for Halloween parties.
on edit: You might want to stagger the years on those invitations….
stay warm dood
OK. Seddin to sleepy land. Night all.
hey jayt – do you have a warrior song you use before court?
g’nite ecahn – nice seeing ya here in the dark
I borrowed a quarter.

I can’t figure out the hair – it’s not quite 1980’s – maybe a transition into the ’90’s?
What the hell am I doing trying to figure out females’ hair?
yes !! (well – a sound track)
maybe i can find something….
Lots of baking soda into the drain, then pour lots of vinegar slowly in. It results in a fizzy reaction – kinda fun. Wait a while, then flush with water.
Took two tries but worked a charm. (really slow drains)
First try I didn’t get the soda all into the drain, so I had a sink full of fizz. Some formulas say heat the vinegar, I didn’t bother. Big bottles of vinegar are cheap as is b.s. — bye bye drano.
i think it was the thing to do back then…look at trisha’s hair
Sorry eCahn, just saw this.
Here’s another link
http://www.snoodworld.com/
We were so not amused at the time. Now it’s family lore.
do ya flush it afterwards with lotsa hot water? or does any old temp water work?
I would almost certainly appear to be a more serious and professional person if I didn’t put this up – but the fact is – yeah, I crank this motherfucker up right before I get out of the car, and then go to war. (or maybe something else from the same soundtrack).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzvO-SdZVK8
in that particular case, I don’t care what her hair looks like. I’m a true sucker for that song. thanks.
lol
me too — is how i could remember what her hair is…
That gives “Zed is dead” a whole new meaning.
according to this formula, hot.
Here’s another. I don’t think it’s rocket science. And there was nothing intimidating about the process or reaction.
we seem to be hitting at least a mometary groove, therefore:
Roseanne Cash and friends:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xr7DVZVIqaA
hehehehe
gotta be in the right mood to go to war….
i remembered it as hot. very effective iirc — my mom uses that way of cleaning drains still.
i have that song’s original vinyl — every song is a keeper if it is the one i am thinking about.
war pigs
I promise I won’t break out the 5,6,7,8’s if you won’t…. *g*
deal (laughing)
tell you what – I love the chick singers, but it needs a little kicking up:
Lucinda:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhIEgSE1KvU&feature=related
so…… looking around……
did anyone watch the video?
One of MY fav songs of all times.
Works for men, too, that ache.
Have seen Rosanne do it twice, with ex husband Rodney Crowell, at Strawberry Fest, over the years.
Love that song. It’s haunting. In it’s music, and lyrics, too.
Nice pic, JayT.
hey larue – how’s sac tonight?
I’m pretty sure I didn’t boil it. Probably just hot out of the faucet.
Yes! Sorry, I got sidetracked.
Not politically correct today, is it?
Funny how even then it was the dad who was the schlub who always got the cold draft, the drip, etc. And I thought that was a modern sitcom invention.
JayT, I’d bet that was Nina Gerber, in the yellow, on the far right stage.
Other, I just can’t recognize, and yet, even for ‘88, I fell I SHOULD recognize, in a women’s sanger/songwriter round.
What a great hit, thanks again.
evening, suzzz
yup — i remember mom saying hot water and then her turning on the hot water faucet — and i would wonder about all the cold water in the pipes that had to empty down the drain before the water turned hot and entered the drain.
mom used to do this big sigh when i would ask that kinda question.
No mood is right for war…! ;-)
Btw, how’s your boy doing…? So is it West Point or IU…?
hey ppd – how’s the south south bay?
2d choice Subdudes (dammit)(though with some Feat)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bzu2utwhlSM&feature=related
P.S. I may havwe to wear a suit tomorrow – mercury’s at 40 degrees – double dammit….
not bad, thanks — how’s everything up north?
Seen Lucinda three times now, at Berry Fest.
Every time, the chat board after lights up with she’s drunk, she’s sloppy, she’s NOT fit for the stage!
And they bring her back, and I LOVE that woman, every time for at LEAST half a set.
She always goes huge electric and loud but the first half is killer.
Love me Lucinda, and Gravel Roads . . . *G*
hunkering down for a cold spell followed by a wet spell. currently 41 and still dropping.
late at night
What vid?
Your toon?
I could go on forever with the analysis of that and social meanings and history and culture norms and more.
It was AWESOME!!! *G*
Oh, you mean another vid? Hey, I’m late to the party, clue me in gal!!!!! lol
from a comment on the YooTOOb:
Show originally aired in 1986. Two girls on the right are Pam Rose and Mary Ann Kennedy. They had a duo called Kennedy Rose. To their left is Lacy J. Dalton, Emmylou, Roseanne and Gail Davies.
I wouldn’t have know myself otherwise.
i meant the cartoon up top
BerryFesters, at LEAST 3 times now, since ‘01.
Always good. *G*
Heh, you’re always late to the party, dood…! ;-)

Wow! Nice catch!
I never liked Kennedy/Rose.

Best to you and yers, hoss! Hope the castle buildin is goin fast!!!! *G*
So is it West Point or IU…?
Well, if it comes down to those two – it’ll be IU.
But I spent an hour on the phone with him tonight, and he just figured out a way (don’t ask me – he knows Army regs better than his commanding officers) to game the system even further.
So just tonight he sent out feelers to Stanford, Yale, UPenn (Wharton), UVA, UMich, and gawd know who all. he just took the top twenty ranking business schools and fired something off to each. A good bunch of those offer 100% ROTC scholarships. And with his test numbers…..
Come June, he’ll have enough service time in to go Green-To-Gold, which means he can take a four-year stroll through undergrad somewhere, and unless he goes to West Point, he’ll only owe them four years, which he can opt for active, Guard or Reserves.
He’s 94-Alpha, which means that the Army doesn’t have a goddamned thing for him to do – anywhere. He also got NBC qualified – same thing.
He wants that combat patch, but there doesn’t seem to be anywhere for him to go to get it – and he sure as hell isn’t gonna volunteer for infantry….
…He wants that combat patch…
Be careful for what ya wish for…! Guard and Reserves are just as likely to head off as the active… And, the Guard will change your MOS to ensure that you’ll go… So he better be careful…!
Drains are a mystery – one I’d prefer not to contemplate. Lots of septic tank/drainage field talk among my relatives who live on the ocean.
Rules used to be very lax (((
Danke, dood…! Unfortunately I’m at a virtual standstill on my lot…! 8-(
Here’s a very good explanation from the head of the Nobel committee…
Take it back
i’ll take you there
tell the truth
Dang… Everybody is lost in the toobz, eh…?
i guess so ct — other than the mt and the stalemate, how’s hawaii?
Great…! Lovely day today…! The wife loitered around the pool and I watched some of the college games and got ready to head up here…!
Is today yer Birthday?
another day in paradise — and the rest of us are hunkering down for fall and the cold to come.
i love hawaii but i would miss the seasons if i were to live there.
thursday dood — you feeling any better?
This is something I’m planning on doing shortly… I want to build a solar carport and have the dial spinning backwards… I’ve already priced the solar laminate and am trying to round up the duckies…!
Busted…! Long time no ’see’…!
Oh well, I’m off a bit. I wished ya happy birthday at yer place. I am only awake for a few minutes again, I am STILL sick. This is the worst freakin’ cold I have had in my life.
Gnite, I’ll try to temember on Thursday.
THUD!
how cool — i checked out nahant’s setup when i was down there for the meetup in july. totally cool and the meter running backwards rocks!
Hey ta CT!
happy belated, or happy ahead of time?
or we could pretend that it just lasts all week….
g’thud dood – don’t make me come over there with chicken soup
way too early yet. not until thurs — gonna start my double nickle year — another speed limit year
…don’t make me come over there with chicken soup
and handcuffs. Sympathy only gets you so far around here.
no handcuffs — that would temper the threat with a promise yanno….
what the *hell* am I doing awake at this hour? I’ve got serious stuff to do tomorrow, liking watching football, and..umm… eating pizza and…. stuff – you know.
one to go:
Gram & Emmylou:

If the world was a righteous place, those two would have grown old together.
Nighters, all.
g’nite jayt
time for me to head out myself. g’nite all and thanks for all the music and conversation tonight.
just got through listening to the song I posted and caught that.
BWAAAHAHAHAA!!
Ahem.
Bad girl.
Not that that’s a bad thing.
Arghhhh – g’night.
Aloha, Suz, Busted, jayt… Sleep tight…! ;-)
test
We should perhaps ask Iran if they would mind handing those folks over to “us” in exchange for their vow to never again instigate regime change in Iran.
It’s worth a try.
It’s 5:13pm Sunday, so I can’t claim my mind is fuzzy from writing in the early morning hours.
Dems key work this year:
Begin the end of Afghanistan & Iraq occupations.
Finish healthcare reform.
Economy stabilized.
bonus: Nobel Peace prize.
Budget for the future.
Stimulus to build a lot of public stuff.
Ledbetter bill for equal pay.
SCHIP spending.
Work toward peace in Middle East.
Gradual work on regulating financial industry.
Begin Green Revolution.
Not bad for one year, but it was slow-going because Health reform was a bear.
What’s next?
More Energy stuff. We have to stay with that a long time.
Much more Financial sector reform.
The Middle East — ’nuff said.
Lots of legal stuff: closing Gitmo, trials, Telecom spying, etc.
Starting the health insurance PO and watching the effects of the reform.
Union Cardcheck ???
Universal savings accts.
Tax system reform (probably late next year).
More Environmental stuff, GMOs, Pacific Ocean plastics, dead spots… for ex.
California……….hmmm California
Which reminds me of mortgages. How far out into the future is that going to be there?
California is a very difficult problem I haven’t a clue about. I suspect nobody really does, except to say a Constitutional convention isn’t appealing and yet their Republicans probably won’t let Constitutional reform happen any other way.
Maybe if our Supreme Court had some rather big changes we could get a court which would enable the fed gov’t to intercede to ‘fix’ CA. But, that’s a bit of a stretch.
If Brown wins gov, then it will be easier to do some things, but still there are terrible limits on any gov. And, we need CA to go go go to push the economy instead of drag it down. Perhaps we could end some fed mandates which cost many states revenue.
Internationally it’s probably trade relations which will become the focus, with consensus on accounting standards and other financial regulation schemes, ‘basket of currencies’ and ‘non-dollar oil trading’ being part of that discussion.
It’s had to put any one thing to bed and say you’ve ’solved’ it. But, there are a few and however well Dems succeed there will be progress and a moving on to other challenges (of which there are plenty).
As always, lots of questions and not a lot of answers.
