We can report exclusively tonight, that two major power brokers on the left have told MSNBC that they are encouraging a Senate strategy now, in which the leadership would revoke chairmanships and other leadership positions from any Democrat who sides with a Republican filibuster to block a vote on health reform.
Well, first, I’ll believe it when I see it. After all, there’s Joe Lieberman still chairing Homeland Security and what did he do? Oh yeah, run against the Democratic primary winner after losing a primary, whored for war as no war whore as whored before, endorse the Republican nominee for President, and appear at the GOP Convention to bad mouth the Democrats and their nominee. So clearly, this is a Caucus historically determined to enforce party discipline.
Second, how crappy and gutted and like Max Baucus bill will the product of their determined enforcement be, should they actually be so inclined?
I sure would like to be pleasantly surprised.
UPDATE:
And in completely unrelated news, the international community thinks so little of America now that Obama’s President that they just awarded that internationally despised person the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE.

I share your skepticism. Harry Reid has made promises before that actions such as Joe Lieberman’s in the last election would have consequences. I have yet to see them. Any Senator who isn’t skeptical of these new potential consequences probably hasn’t been there for very long.
Schumer made clear this “opt out” is a level playing field public option. As far as I know we already have at least 51 votes for Schumer’s 50 state level playing field option–so why do we need this compromise? Are we negotiating with ourselves again?
The only justification is if you could get to 60 votes–but Lieberman (I – insurance) is on record against any government run health plan in defiance of polls in Connecticut, one of which shows 68% support. It’s hard to believe this plan gets him on board.
But if he’s seriously going to filibuster, again this makes no sense because his precious chairmanship is the only thing keeping him from turning Republican. I’d say if you want to get this guy on board you do the opposite and tempt him with some choice pork he can take to his lair.
And for heaven’s sake, start grooming a Democrat to beat him in 2012.

I call bullshit. Not on the news of him winning the Peace Prize, because that appears to be legit–but on him winning at all. There were 205 nominees and the nominee cutoff was (according to the linked article) less than 2 weeks into Obama’s term. The Committee essentially awarded him the Prize based on his campaign pledges.
Hmmm. Now that I think about it, that was just the nominee cutoff. Does anyone know how long the Committee deliberates on the nominees? Maybe he really did earn it.
As I said, the Nobel was awarded for him NOT being a complete and utter dick (or Dick) and making the international community think positively about the most powerful (and yes, frightening) nation on the planet.
It’s a stinging rebuke to the right-wing, and not surprisingly they do not and will not like it.

Ya know, I didn’t hear ALL the campaign promises, nor am I fully versed in all the Progressive values regarding peace(although I consider myself a progressive,) but somehow, me thinks that Mr. President used those ideals to get elected but has yet to follow through on his pledges. Maybe he’ll take this Nobel Peace Prize to heart when its time to make the decision to send more troops to Afghanistan? As for the Dems growing a spine and revoking chairmanships, I’m with Rachael!! I think that’s no small thing over in Europe. Haven’t followed it closely beyond the announcement, but weren’t there all kinds of immediate about-face moves away from bellicosity because of it?
Something else, often time the Peace Prize in particular has been given to those who are having a rather difficult path to walk around the time of the award, shall we say. Certainly Lutuli, Hammarskjöld, King, Sakharov, Sadat and Begin, Pérez Esquivel, Walesa, Tutu, Arias Sánchez, the Dalai Lama, Aung San Suu Kyi, and nearly every awardee since hers in 1991 has been clearly in the eye of some maelstrom or other at the time they were named. The issues with which they were associated were (in general still are) active ones, and were the focus of much negative as well as positive energy. The committee might be letting everyone know that they have been paying attention to these concentrations of energy, and also encouraging future actions toward peace, as well as seeking to reward anything Pres. Obama has already done.

PO is at 68% in CT, but that doesn’t seem to bother Lieberman. Dodd’s main problem is scandal and incompetence causing the voters to get tired of him.
Dodd’s pro-PO but just one vote. The other people in on the merge are Reid (PO about 52 in Nevada), Baucus (PO 47 in MT), Rahm and Nancy-Anne Deparle.
Get a grip? Whatever, he is the president – he carries out the policies.
What is not to get is that the winner of the peace prize is at WAR. So why not check yourself when today or tomorrow or this weekend we see the story that 30 women and kids were blown up.
