No one could’ve predicted that a Southern Teabagger like Erickson would immediately bring up Obama’s race. (h/t watertiger)
I did not realize the Nobel Peace Prize had an affirmative action quota for it, but that is the only thing I can think of for this news.
And congratulations to Mark Steyn, who as far as I can tell, wins the "First Wingnut to Bring Up ACORN" award.
…under Congressman Rangel’s recently tightened federal ethics rules, the president has to give the [prize] money to an ACORN-supported child-sex brothel symbolizing in a very real sense "cooperation between peoples" of many lands.
HAHAHAHA!!!!! CHILD RAPE!!!!!!
What a great Friday.

These wingnuts give me indigestion.
yeah, but they’re kind of funny.
Conservative humor its not about the funny its about hurting people, demonizing them and showing dominance.
Defining real humor is hard but its not this.
I think its more fair to say Obama got this because of what he might do rather than what he’s done so far.
Will he earn this prize would be a good question? The GOP was given a good hand to play they could have persuaded some Moderates that Obama might deserve this later but not yet.
Instead they went straight for the mud and scared off the Moderates.
They can’t help themselves.
Why are so many wingnuts bringing up child sex? What exactly have they been doing?
He won not only because he’s black but he’s a fascist muslim as well. Wingnuts always leave out the important parts. s/
Much more disturbing than these easily dismissible clowns
is the front page of the Post, which is dripping with derisive headlines and subheads.
Obama = 50% black + 50% white. So does that mean he also won because he’s white? ;)
Sounds like FDL to me.
ou forgot the “communist” bit. And you didn’t rail against the Acorns.

“I think it’s more fair to say Obama got this because of what he might do rather than what he has done so far.”
Exactly what Brother Obama said in his statement this mornin’…and what is maybe more significant was Obama’s pledge that he would continue to work to earn the honor. Those of us who are impatient with Obama might take a step back here and realize that after 9 months to be where we are still on our feet, fightin’ the monsters at the door is due in no small measure to the Darkman we put in charge.
Obama’s giving the money that goes with the prize to charity -per MSNBC-
No mention of which one or ones
The Republican Party is primarily white southern racists at this time.
They are destroying themselves, because most Ameircans reject virulent racism.
lol
At first I got a laugh over shit like this, watching the wingnuts shooting themselves in the foot. But knowing now that I have to hear it for the next 3+ years WTF!
Well Mark Foley was certainly working on it.
Repubtards aren’t being any more rascist in degree it’s just as bad as it’s always being it’s just the frequency of their attacks have gone up.
Citizen TomWells:
Yes indeed…and the corporate media are hangin’ themselves on that rotten limb of American history. When you get impatient or distrustful of Obama remember who’s goin’ after ‘im and how they’re doin it…there’s gunna come a time here real soon when we’re gunna hafta choose which side we’re on and realize that Obama’s choice was made for ‘im at birth.
putting aside his odious and clinical racism for a pico second – Erikson is one intellectually lazy little git
Citizen Raven:
LOL…knew you couldn’t keep quiet on this one!!
no, these sectarian bigots have that “single drop” mindset.
Lincoln should have funded the Underground Railroad instead of military action
Of course the Nobel Committee is aware that this could be quite embarrassing for them, if Obama decides to start a war somewhere. They have a strong incentive to maintain the credibility of the Prize’s reputation, because it is the fact that many people are impressed by the Nobel Peace Prize that gives them their power and influence. They definitely don’t want people holding the Prize in contempt, or saying that any Prize won by Kissinger (and Obama?) isn’t worth having. So why are they taking this potentially serious risk with the Prize’s reputation? The main purpose of the Nobel Peace Prize is to strengthen the political position and credibility of whoever receives it. So it seems to me probable that this Prize was granted out of fear. The Committee, I suspect, is afraid that Obama’s (and America’s) reputation is weak, desperately weak. So weak that it threatens Norwegian interests. So weak that they have to risk their own reputation in an attempt to shore up Obama’s credibility.
I agree that the time will come when we have to choose.
Whining for the Fjords
For so long, Republics have had to travel overseas for their sex vacations. You’d think that they would welcome an ACORN-supported child-sex brothel as a great timesaver.
Speakin of frickin headaches. . .
We haven’t heard from Louis Gommert so we can bring beastiality etc.
What truly amazes me is how many people suddenly have an authoritative opinion on how/why the Nobel Committee does (or fails to do) their job. I had no idea that there were so many experts on this arcane subject!
Think it is more like intellectually bankrupt
Citizen Glenn:
Of coase the Nobel committee gave Obama the award “to strengthen the political position and credibility of whoever receives it…” but to say that “…Obama’s (and America’s)reputation is weak, desparately weak” is projection-lunatic projection.
Citizen Raven:
I’m just here to serve, Brother Freebird.
Yeah, especially today….

Sit back and watch the Republicans push this way too far. There will be another Olympic-style public backlash. Dems already have the biggest Senate majority since 1980, and should pick up more seats next year. Soon the GOP will be just an unpleasant memory. The Progressive party should be ready to take their place.
apparently CNN ran a piece showing Steele’s churlishness just after showing Taliban umbrage
Citizen cbl2:
That’s what’s gunna sink the fascists and the military fuherer wannabees…the Taliban, the religious right-wing and the corporate talkin’ heads all lined up opposite the USA.
You mean “communist”, “socialist”, abortion loving acorn supporting muslim from Kenya. /s
Jon Walker has a fresh cross-post up for our edification: “Opt-Out”: Who Will Pay for Red State Folly?”

Are you aware of the recent speculation about the future of the American dollar? Have you considered what might happen to Obama’s credibility as a manager of the American economy if he decides to vastly increase debt in order to enlarge the wars being fought in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan? America’s global reputation improved considerably when Obama became President, precisely because it was widely believed he would follow policies radically different from those of Bush. But in many ways, American policy hasn’t changed dramatically as a result of Obama’s election. There are a few bright spots, like his decision on “missile defenses” in Eastern Europe. But for the most part, the American Empire continues its steady march towards economic ruin.
I therefore do not agree that deep concern about how Obama and America is perceived in the world represents “lunatic projection”. The willingness of foreigners to buy American Treasury Bonds rests almost entirely on a desperate hope that Obama can somehow help pull the American economy out of its current deep recession.
Citizen Glenn:
And have you thought that maybe Obama is almost as smart as you are and knows all a this? JEEzus, we are all in the tub of shit that you describe and if you think Obama ain’t as well aware of it as you are then you ARE a lunatic.
You’re right . .
‘Tis a very good Friday, indeed!!
I work in Manhattan and I believe I hear the heads exploding at the fox network . .
BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA . .
People just opining. Perfectly normal.
Citizen NorskeFlamethrower
Of course Obama is deeply aware of the magnitude of the problems that America and the world currently face. Unfortunately, based on the decisions he’s made in the first months of his Presidency, while he might like to be remembered by history as a great President, his primary goal seems to be to insure that he personally benefits from his term as President. Again and again, Obama adopts policies that directly benefit the narrow oligarchy at the top of the American economy, at the expense of the rest of the American population. His bailout of the financial industry, his continuance of wars that are profitable to the military industrial complex, his appeasement of the Israeli lobby, his cooperation with health insurance companies, are all policies designed to earn him friends in high places. When Obama leaves the Presidency, either in 4 or 8 years, he will still be a comparatively youthful man, with a potentially long life ahead of him. He seems to regard the Presidency as an entry level job, which will earn him tens of millions of dollars and entry to America’s power elite after he leaves office.
It is, of course, still possible that Obama could in future adopt policies which serve a wider constituency than those which he has adopted to date. This Nobel Prize is plausibly, in part, an attempt to nudge Obama in this direction. But I believe it’s primarily motivated by a fear of what may happen to the global economy if the world completely loses confidence in Obama.
Norske,
He’s aware of it, but he is also isolated and surrounded by his advisers inside the beltway. Just look at his choices for his economic team – all guilty of Wall Street / financial abuse.
Look at who was invited to the health care discussion at the white house? Pharma, Insurance execs precisely the corporations which have ruined the ability to deliver affordable health care to Americans.
Look who advises him on matters of HMS, or the war/ DOD. Where are the deserters to conventional, old and largely failed policies at the table? They are not there. Why not Danial Elsberg? Why not Stieglitz or Krugman?
Why is a blue dog like Rahm running his shop? Why does it take so long to bring justice to a few scores of prisoners in our torture center in Gitmo? Why can’t he show us the photos?
His choices for policy advice is not encouraging and certainly does not align with his campaign rhetoric.
What Glen said except I find it too cynical that he is lining up his ducks to cash out when he’s out of office.
Leave it up the ratwingnuts to play the race card.
This must really piss off the GOP bigots, because, now we can only have black Noble Prize winners from now on, and that means in every category.
You know what they say, “Once you go black…”
It must be a real bitch to be a Republican right now.
you know, in the true south, they have a way of speaking about people like erick erickson. they would shake their heads and say, “bless his heart. everybody knows that boy just ain’t right.”
cannot think of a truer comment.
When you and your clown troupe makes up only 20% of Americans you have to try harder to be noticed. Your little bunch of hydrocephalus headed trolls have to scream louder, act more ignorant, racist and intolerant to be anything more than invisible these days. You’re media darlings because you’re the freakiest freak show in town. Who wants to watch some boring old normal person when you can see Eric the idiot boy eat his own shit and then puke on himself and eat it again.
Freak shows have always been popular entertainment and I guess they always will be. Keep the tradition alive inbred Repubtards it’s who you are, now own it.
