  • Great news.
  • Even more change you can believe in.
  • No ‘bureaucrats’ getting between you and your doctor?
  • Woman’s gotta know her place.
  • Someone finally shut this self-promoting nutjob down.
  • Would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall for this.
  • But…but…we have more czars than Imperial Russia!
  • Oy.
  • I blame Obama.

Bureaucrats would include CEOs of insurance companies, wouldn’t it? I could see cutting them out of me and my doctor’s decision making.

Great news.

If your name is Fred Kagan.

Even more change you can believe in.

If your name is Charles Krauthammer.

Clearly, Obama is aiming to please that all-important WaPo OpEd demographic.

If push comes to shove I’d rather have some gray little gummint bureaucrat making decisions… At least he won’t be swanning around in some palatial 10 million dollar mansion.

The fact that the ‘bureaucrat’ would not make more money by giving me less is a reassuring factor… or quality control.

Thanks for the link to the “woman’s place”/Pelosi story….lest we forget. Nothing like a cadre of old white men sounding angry and out of touch…and smug.

PS. To SD when you arrive: The cat and I have been up forever…I have to get out early. She has found a way to look at her shadow…seems quite interested actually. And on the cheap, she has discovered a fine new bed, place to sleep, = brown paper grocery bag. Hard to tell why she likes it b/c it is definitely noisy. To each her own….

Morning all. Gotta love the Nebraska Democratic party meeting and putting the desire for a PO on their platform and encouraging Nelson to support one. Same goes for ND. Earth to Conrad.

I know, let’s send Sheriff Arpaio to Afghanistan to run immigration checks and find out who the al Qaeda really are. Now we only need 39,999 more volunteers.

All the Rethugs want more troops in Afghanistan sooner, not later. Ignorant fuckin’ chickenhawks.

There’s only 220 people in Gitmo? Just pack ‘em into a couple space shuttles. Gitmo is closed. NASA gets $$. No ter’rists in our backyard. Nobody getting enhancedly interrogated. Win-win-win-win. Everybody’s happy.

Me too. He must have inherited Martinez’s email list. I’m surprised my name is on it with all the negative missives I sent Martinez.

Chain Gang Charlie appointed one of his good ol’ boys to the circuit court. Dude used to be counsel for the local Rethug Party. Imagine that.

I got nothing so let me pick on Maureen Dowd. Her article “Men Behaving Badly” uses tee vee and movies, Jay Leno, “Mad Men”, the “Office”, Hannibal Lecter, Craig Fergusen, to explain her point whatever it is.

I guess us guys especially Letterman should not be trusted around women, especially in the workplace. But some of us guys understand “Feminism” much better than Maureen.

A few years ago, I wrote that 40 years of feminism had done nothing to alter the fact that older men often see young women in staff support as sirens. For some men, it’s the very inequality of the relationship that’s alluring, the way these women revolve around them and make life easier, the way they treat Himself like the sunrise and sunset of their universe.

OK fair enough but equal opportunity for both sexes means men can be nurses and women can be TV execs. It should not be defined, for example, as Carly Fiorina getting the opportunity to be a corporate criminal. Or those attractive babes who peddle Pharmaceutical drugs to doctors. That is not feminism. that is corrupt women.

Maureen needs to focus her talent, and she is talented on real villains. For example Maureen bashes a woman, unjustly. She ignores women villains, especially the Corporate criminals and neo-cons, Cokie Roberts, Fiorina, and the Death Panel woman, McConahey or whatever her name is, Mika Brezinssi, Carly Taitz and so on. Stephanie Birkitt should not be punished.

Stephanie Birkitt, his former lover and assistant, described herself as his best friend. She was not punished but rewarded with a recurring on-air starring role — despite the fact that she wasn’t funny or charming. As usual, Letterman was living out loud on the show, showing the audience his crush. His company footed the tab for Birkitt to go to law school, a loan she has now paid back; it says it did the same for some other staffers who wanted to pursue higher education.

On Monday night, when Letterman joked that he might be the first talk-show host to be impeached, Birkitt’s name was still listed in the show credits.

I believe it.

Whatever his faults, Letterman has always been the best kind of philanthropist. For many years, he kept an Indianapolis lawyer on retainer just to distribute money to various causes, and to keep it quiet.

I’m betting that he still does, though I don’t know who he uses now.

Back in the day she used to be a real columnist. Something happened to her somewhere along the line and she turned into a harpy with virtually nothing of substance to say. My vote is that she be put out to pasture.

Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
