zed! 10-10
Zed hi ES
Piggy piggy NAHANT (S)
So where is ES? The wing healed and paddling on the reservoir and the rivers?
Been getting your emails.
Good evening.
Hey bigbrother.. thought perhaps you took off running one morning and didn’t look back. Good to see ya.
Is there a way to contact the moderator off site? Or is this thread private so that I can speak freely here? I need to apologize and ask the moderator to remove comments in the Late Night thread if possible.
good wasn’t sure…
Hi ES, hi all.
As opposed to bad morning, of course.
;>)
hey ktown – you are still learning the ropes so i cut ya some slack.
the comments will remain otherwise everyone else’s comments look foolish.
and this is the thread to have those questions asked. do you wish me to contact you via email using the email you registered with?
Oh my. Those Avett Brothers are sweet.
I don’t think so. but you can ask a question of the mod from the comments. May not answer though.
Don’t worry too much about what happened. I have been here from day one and sometimes I get tweaked, too. Tomorrow is another day. We like you.
Hi Margot.. db!
Mary
The Avetts… I must see them live someday soon.
DarkBlack, we have a “knoxville” problem. He got lucky because Norske was not around. He is not funny at all and he has been sucking up all the bandwidth and he wants to know all the secrets of FDL. He is all yours if you want to take this assignment.
Just guessin. But it seems like narcissism to me.
Ease up bud carrying feuds to new threads sure it happens but its not cool.
Evening ES, all.
Jeebus K. Krist, Frank33. Stop it already. “Leave it.” That is what I tell my dog.
Evening Sunny.
Feel free to contact me with the email I registered with.
I’m sorry. I didn’t think I was being unreasonable at the beginning of the whole thing in the thread from long ago and reacted badly to what seemed like instant rudeness from Frank33. I was wrong. Frank33, I’m not trying to know all the secrets of FDL. I was asking reasonable questions, making suggestions, and wanting very much to achieve FDL goals.
I would appreciate it if you removed all my comments in the previous thread @ 27, 59, 81, 107, 124, 127, 132, 163 and 166.
Use your judgment about removing the others’ responses @ 66, 72, 73, 113, 114, 123 and 133. Honestly, the people who responded to me know me and were trying to help me. I don’t think they’d mind those comments being deleted if they know that they helped.
I am sorry. Thanks for giving me some slack.
Sometimes when I think back…I’m surprised anyone talks to me to this day. I was just so furious at the past many years of injustices, and personal stuff too of course, financial mostly.
Anyway I am glad everyone was so forgiving and still talks to me now and then.;)
Anybody like the Gin Blossoms?
This thread is not public? Only we can see it?
Good.
no biggie ktown. we have all make mistakes and learn — hell, i’ve been moderated and i have had to moderate front pagers.
i am not removing any comments from teddy’s thread.
i will contact you via email :)
Public. Very.
all threads are open to all viewers. there are no private threads at FDL or any of its sister sites.
this is an open thread — meaning there is no designated topic — which there was on teddy’s post downstairs.
g’evening ES, Suze, & Firepups.
Yanno, it’s full moon. Moon in aries opposing sun in libra. I’ve been edgy and snappy today. sigh.
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/9170…..abdc0.html
So just what moron negotiated that deal Helicopter Ben? Geithner, Summers? On the plus side if Cit goes under and we tax payers lose 2.3 billion Obama is going to have to fire the person who made the deal. Ben I think is protected Obama renewed his term at the Fed and I’m not sure if Obama can fire him now.
I’ve offered opinions that were contrary to what everyone else saying , and I took a boatload of flack over it
This is one of the best Progressive blogs out there. I’ve donated to the site and trust Jane and the site administrators to use the funds I’ve donated in a proper fashion .
Suz if you want you can remove my comments
went to a Bhuddist meeting tonight sat 30 minutes got to feel all the cheesy sore spot in the bod. Did not achieve enlightenment. Got a lot from the Santa Barbara site. Look like a real challenge to operate with compassion in an uncompasionate world of competition. Like every one who does not like you. Meanwhile give up all your vises and hangups to be enlightened. There is no pill, it Karma Dudes and Dudettes.
Be nice to one another is compassion. Granny used to say kill em with kindness. A little off of the mark. A huge challenge. Breath. Meditate twice a day.
First rule, nobody talks about the FDL club.
;)
Myself, I have a ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy about money. If I donate money or time I’ll know exactly where it’s going and what for from the loftiest cause to the lowest clucker. And nobody but me and the taxman know the back story.
;>)
the comments stand.
we can consider the experience a teachable moment — so other new people can learn from them.
no harm no foul
Well.. I have a piece of duct tape over my laptop camera lens.
BB! How are you?
Google your screen name ,nothing here is private
Just a friendly warning anything you post here can easily be found on Google
Hey ndfg. The moon has been fantastic for a week.
Not the Bugs Bunny pyjamas again.
;>)
Hi mary you want to help me get the Citizens for Affordable and safe Environment up? I have it saved.
He is going to get all of those Knoxville, TN pages, too.
Unless you are sincerely trying to find an old important link. /s
I shouldn’t be too worried about anything. Most of us who comment here regularly have had run ins of various types with the powers that be or other commenters. A point you raise, or at least that I think that you are raising, is about transparency on our side of the blogosphere. It is an important issue. Fdl has a back channel and there are back channels between this site and various other ones. Most of what goes on in them or between them is wholly unnecessary to keep out of our view. But as this site often asks for community action, it has a greater responsibility to hew to the line of transparency and openness. When people say follow Jane and if you don’t like it go elsewhere, they sound to me very much like what we criticize about the right side of the blogosphere.
Sure. Do you have my mccurnindesign email?
Margot, folks here have been incredibly tolerant of me. A kind soul posted a one worder: “brevity”, not addressed directly to me. But I got the message ;-)
Hey Nahant you still around ?
How’d you enjoy your trip to the East Coast ?
Yup, I didn’t know the difference between an open thread and one that’s closed to the public. Duh. That’s two reasons to feel stupid tonight!
you are a compassionate person
Just cause you don’t know something doesn’t mean you are stupid. It usually means to keep looking.
don’t feel stupid. we have all had to learn the verbage used around here.
honestly you haven’t done anything that anyone else hasn’t done.
i try to be. thank you bb
Shhhhh.
Actually.. a friend hit me up in chat one time. Said hey i love your hat! Which I was wearing at that very moment on a new chat setup and thought some setting had gone terribly awry. Only much later, after I applied tape, did I realize it was a still photo they were talking about. But the tape remains just to be sure…)
Well, when you put it that way. If the President can put his foot in his mouth and call it part of “a teachable moment,” then I guess I’m in good company!
Seriously, I did learn from it. And I am sorry to all. (Except you eCAHN, you were really mean to those filmmakers!
i think one big reason i’m cranky is that i’m supposed to keep my head vertical with the eye stuff. No leaning back and staring at the gorgeous moon, stars, planets etc when i get home from work at 3-4 am. I love Orion striding up in the east and the Pleiades overhead. *has little temper tantrum*
Wanna talk about Knoxville?
EXCELLENT ANSWER! Constantly trying to learn gives meaning to life!
Although I am still feeling stupid for getting so upset and starting the whole thing.
What they don’t know, they can’t Twit. The Internets is a mean town.
;>)
now now now… no flaming other commenters
attack the message not the messenger is another one of our sayings
I am sorry about #16. You can take it off too. More Gin Blossoms.
When Orion comes up over the horizon winter isn’t far away !
I think he was kidding. maybe, sort of, I hope……
gah. is it just me or is the “reply” button a little flakey lately?
Are TGB’s still together?
Ronnie AND Robbie doin git work? *G*
Nice pick, ES . . . NICE pick!
You get the package, yet?
I know it is always saying things that I don’t mean! geez.
yeah, its getting nippy up here in the upper midwest. good sleeping weather tho, as we say *g*
The page has to load all the way.. before the reply button works properly. Messes me and my mediocre bandwidth up all of the time.
Since I read the Bhuddist lessons about not “self-grabbing’ (which I think means letting the hangups go) i have decided to be rather than be angry or confrontational. So I have a little healing to do but generally very good. They have cure for the worry thing (fear) as well. So no fear no anger reduced karma. I am sure the test are sneaking up.
Meanwhike I am studying water systems management 600 page manual on maintenance of delivery systems and treatment which is straining my brain.
Word has come from on high that I may no longer drive my 30 yr/old car. Seems I have to buy a new one this weekend. Anybody got a new, moderate car they really, really like?
whew! i thought i was the only one with that trouble. Mebbe i should get a better keyboard …
Oh grow up. I have a particular POV of lefties, having worked on Wall St. Am one, but know the “enemy.” The front-paging cave dwellers would do the FDL site no kudos, so I expressed my opinion. It was discussed. Didnt leave the site in a fit a pique.
Hey Larue… I sure did. Going to take me a while to soak all that digital feast in.
Thanks! Thanks a million…)
Frank, I like YOUR stuff.
Why you and Knox ain’t hittin it off, I don’t know.
But he’s got some good info to share, as do you.
Lay off, hoss, you dilute YOUR stature by pickin small fruits.
Let your work speak for itself, as Knox should.
It’s all good.
*G*
WOOF!!!!!
*G*
And can you tell Ecahn the same thing? Please?
5 months ago i got an ‘07 chevy aveo with 12,000 miles on it. It wasn’t too much $$$, gets 36 mpg with my commute, i’m pretty happy with it. Bare-bones kinda car, but i hate paying for brand new.
Frank, I’m sorry to have met you in that way, but I’m glad I met you and hope you’ll accept my apology.
Jane did very kindly come over to respond to my original comment and answered what she thought appropriate to answer. I feel like I need to apologize to her too if she ended up wasting even a moment of her time after her response to me because I, well, temprorarily spun out of control.
No.
Wait wait.. tell me about the thirty year old car..) What 1979 make and model made it 30 years?
K’Ville – it is over and done. Family fights are familiar to us all.
Now, let’s get back to kicking Republican butt as a unit.
What were you driving?
I wish to note two particulars.
1. The dead branch that prierced the top of my head left nothing but an ugly scab.
2, Blah blah blah.
Fair enough. I’ve liked reading a lot of what you wrote before and after that thread. And you did leave it there. I did, too, until you called me a troll tonight!
*G*
Just purchased a 1990 Acura one owner vehicle low miles and 33-35 mph!
I do not know. Let me do a quick google. I love them though. Googlin…….I guess they broke up and got back together. Three years ago they put out Major Lodge Victory. I wanted a youtube for “Let’s Play Two”. It is sort of a baseball song, so Keith Olbermann might like it. All I could find are the lyrics.
http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyri…..y_two.html
Character mark. Glad you are alright.
LOL Sunny
You have never struck me as a wordy person in the least, in fact I wish you’d say more.
Actually gonna say gnite all.
Thank you for helping me understand better.
And, not to start anything at all, but what you wrote at the end is exactly was I was feeling once I felt like I was being attacked:
The end result, though, was that I learned that I was wrong. I’m definitely no where near the right side of the blogosphere here!
I purchased a 1989 Isuzu pickup.. one owner. 22 city 30 hwy. AC blows cold.
Full price less than I usually fork over for a down payment.
Good night eCAHN
Apology accepted. But if you want to get on the good side of the Firedogs. Here is the way to do it.
If you are rich donate about $1000 or more to FDL Action. If you are poor $25 would be sufficient. I do not think grudges or insults are worthwhile.
I can only imagine the right wing neo-con hate mongering thrown at Jane, Christy and EmptyWheel. Digby is great too but she has got her own Hullabaloo.
In New England most cars rust out long before they reach the 20 year mark , so this one was quite a find !
No rust!
WTF I keep getting a white page when I try to access empytwheel or her previous posts
anyone else having this problem?
No rust.. must be an import.
I live several miles down a rocky mountain road. It’s a well maintained county road, but i don’t think I will ever buy a perfect looking vehicle for this living situation.
Excellent. I’m sorry to say, but I’m not rich. My contributions to FDL and others are in the hundreds, not the thousands. But I’ll make another contribution to make peace.
There are real fights that need fighting!
bbugs – try clearing your cache. ew’s place and sister sites are loading fine for those of us backstage.
No.. works for me.
What Suz said.
Anyone have thoughts about Andrew Sullivan they’d like to share?
This could be an embarrassment for the GOPers remember the NeoCons all thought they were foreign policy Genies now who was that GOP Senator that just visited Honduras in support of the Coup?
just received this weather statement:
..local frost a possibility Monday and Tuesday mornings…
off to go cover my frost tender plants. have a good evening everyone – g’nite
Rebel DeMint.
;>)
Thanks, I’m with you on used cars, but dunno how warranties work these days. My sister just bought a kia for cheap w/100,000 mi warranty and is pushing that. I’m kinda agnostic, nothing appeals so it’ll just be a business decision I guess.
Love my ancient bmw, new ones don’t do it for me and aren’t in my league anyway. A used mini, if I could find one, might be. I don’t put on many miles, but really can’t afford a crap-shoot.
DeMint, I think.
I will never understand his popularity. :x
How many South Carolina Republicans can dance on the head of a pin while embarrassing themselves and the whole country?
DOH !!
Thanks works now !
Been such a cool Summer…looks like it’s going to be a particularly cool Fall.
Nite Suz
A car is a tool in my world. Nothing more.
Crap eyes are getting tired I read the story wrong.
anyway here’s the link.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..09225.html
Jim DeMint is a Presbyterian.
I have always liked old volvos… Buy them relatively cheap.. put a 100k on them and resell them for 80 percent of what i originally paid.
Suz, THANK YOU (happy, friendly shout). Seriously, thanks.
Work in the morning !
Sleep tight everyone !
DeMint is also very much going rogue in the worst way possible.
He’s a confused Gay Republican? He probably is next to Christopher Hitchens the smartest GOP media talking head. Chris though hasn’t been sober in a while I think if the GOP wants Moderate votes Andrew could be the man with a plan.
Too bad the Fundies hate the gays so I don’t think Andrew will ever get his due.
Mind you Second smartest GOPer is not saying much.
Nite Suz its good to be back at late late nite!
Off topic is the topic sometimes I think late late nite was made just for me:)
How’s the vision altogether?
First, thanks for earlier.
Sullivan is gay, Roman Catholic, and calls himself a libertarian conservative. Yeah, confused comes to mind, or maybe he’s suffering from a new type of multiple personality disorder, where the personalities are all somehow wrapped together and so appear to be one to the casual observer.
I asked because I just read his open letter to Bush in The Atlantic. Still trying to process his argument. It seems somehow like it’s based on some muddled thinking.
Per the cited link:
Israeli commandos have been known to advise other governments/groups, so who knows?
But this one’s a classic:
WHAT THE FUCK?
Rupert Murdoch is going to battle against the Internet, bent on making readers actually pay for online newspaper journalism–beginning with his London Sunday Times. History suggests he won’t back down; the experts suggest he’s crazy. Is he also ignoring his industry’s biggest problem?
http://www.vanityfair.com/busi…..lff-200911
I hope Fox News gets stuck behind a paywall too! What will the Righty Blogs do for video clips? What will young College GOPers do when they can’t access Rupert’s newspapers and TV for their college papers?
I think this has potential…for ourside.
My comment @ 122 was directed to you. Sometimes I click the reply, and the sytem jumps down to the message window, but the reply function didn’t work, and I didn’t notice it. And can you tell I needed to go to sleep two hours ago! It’s 2.30am here.
I exaggerated the age;-) It’s an ‘82 320i, with 120,000+- miles on it. (Little lady miles *g* – bought it very gently used at 1 yr old) It has cosmetic problems (surprise) and suddenly scary electrical problems (someone reversed polarity on a jump. Lighting system has gone hinky, so mechanics are now above casual. Also, parts are becoming a problem. I’ve got a great mechanic (this is race car country – he services bmw racers). He was positive but that was before the electrical hit. Dunno what he’ll have to say about that, but it’s past my reliability needs. Sadly, time to move on.
IMHO, just as some people are born gay, some people are born royalists, i.e., they feel a powerful need to live in a very heirarchical society. I suspect that Sullivan got both of those genes.
Ron Paul the racist has the Libertarians support all sewn up I’m wondering if Ron likes Gays? Andrew can call himself a libertarian conservative but if Ron disapproves Andrew has no party.
left eye is peachy-keen but really tired of working by itself. My right eye has progressed to seeing my hand waved in front of my face. But can’t distinguish fingers. Sigh. I’m waiting up to put my last dose of steroid drops before i g’thud.
and how’re you enjoyed retirement?
Good Catch WTF indeed.
I thought so and your welcome get some sleep:)
Authoritarian Personalty? We need John Dean here again I want to ask him which GOPers he thinks are Authoritarians and which are Double High Authoritarians?
WTF indeed.
Happened again. Reply to wigwam @127
IMHO, means?
Actually, there’s another oddity about Sullivan. He’s British but seems to need to tell Americans what’s right and what’s wrong with the US as if he were one of us. I suppose he’s a permanent resident. I know he’s not a US citizen.
Hey Loo Hoo. IIRC, you were going to go to a Taj Mahal / Bonnie Rait concert last weekend. Right?
John Dean was here? Was it to discuss one of his books?
Yes to both.
Emotionally, that’s where I’d be, but I’m too bloody old now to mess around. First car I ever bought for my ownself was a new ‘72 cutlass convertible. Killed me to sell it 10 yrs ago. It was pristine. I literally screened potential purchasers and sold it to a grownup collector. Was way too big and overpowered for me – was always kinda afraid to drive it, hence the little bmw.
I can easily imagine buying a used volvo, but I’m past dealing with servicing problems. Getting older really does suck. I’m trying to go straight for utilitarian.
Wigwam! Nice to encounter your presence once again. Very very funny dry comments. In one of your past lifetimes were you a Brit of the Monty Python line? I can just see you peeing over the parapet onto the spying kingsmen.
How you be?
I can feel sleep overtaking me and pulling me toward the bed. Must obey sleep. Seriously, before auditory hallucinations start trying to convince me that Andrew Sullivan is out to get me, I should go get some sleep.
Nite all, and thank you.
He was recently busted for weed. Managed to buy his way out of it… Good thing he has money.. otherwise deportation would have been in order.
Getting busted for weed? High crimes and misdameanors take a distant second.
Well… if you have a good volvo mechanic around… you will rarely need them, but they have to be a good volvo mechanic… and a volvo is a great car to drive. Very safe too.
My first car was an old ‘63 Plymouth Valiant… slant six w/ push button transmission. Was a two hundred dollar car which I paid 83.00 down. Drove it over a 100k and sold it for 150. *s*
Funny how that works.
Yes you can find the chat at the FDL book club
Nite Folks
Turning in myself.
Good night firedogs.
Hey BB. Great to hear from you.
I’ve been a bit overwhelmed with work and stuff, so I’ve not spent so much time as I should worrying about the fate of all of us. But “stuff” has mellowed out, and I’m hoping to be here more often.
You raise an excellent point. Perhaps I should start researching local mechanics. My current one is the first I’ve ever been enthusiastic about, but unless I can find a mini, he’s out of the cards. Experience w/dealers has been the pits. Most vehicles here are pickups and big-ass suvs. The late LOML always handled my icky car details.. a division of labor I didn’t fully appreciate.
Going to the big city this weekend and if my family prevails, I won’t leave w/out a new car. Thus I’m asking questions and *trying* to adjust my attitude..
I remember those push button gears. It just seemed wrong *g* My college roommate’s boyfriend had a green valiant. Cute little car in a era of behemoths. For a while I had to drive my mom’s wide ride pontiac. Bounced it off every curb in town.. Finally persuaded her she needed a cool little white ford convertable, found a used one and persuaded her to trade. My mom was a *very* good egg.
I went and saw “Capitalism, a love story” Saturday afternoon. Excellent movie.
Since then I’ve read various reviews, etc., but nothing compares to this by Michael himself:
Holy shit! It appears that Alan Grayson has gone on a rampage! God bless him. http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…..are-Debate
