Gawd, I just read Will’s article. What a tool!

I can’t believe it’s not butter. Try spreading it. What do they take us as…Red Zombies Who ALL Parrot Obediently…?

It’s R.Z.WaPo-Will with your Republican mind-settings for the glory of the Movement! But hold the Rapture — we’ve “plateaued”!

Aw heck, let him run around in circles all he wants. Jerk. The Tiger will tank him soon enough… He’s plateaued all right. It’s downhill from here… wheeeee!!

This just in…

Retreat velocity of the North Atlantic polar front during the last deglaciation determined by 14C accelerator mass spectrometry
http://www.nature.com/nature/j.....791a0.html

… but the details of palaeoclimatic spectra suggest that other parameters, usually referred to as feedback, have significantly increased the climatic response to extraterrestrial forcing(1).

Yes, climate change in our time is achievable…

Our results show that the polar front has moved between 35° N and 55° N in less than 1,000 yr for the earliest retreat approx12,500–12,000 BP and moved almost ‘instantaneously’ (that is, less than 400 yr) during the two abrupt climatic changes associated with the Younger Dryas cold event.

If everyone would just go shopping then we could hasten the demise of the pre-modern, old world stability where creative destruction wasn’t a corporate mandate!

Who knew afternoon at Attaturk’s was such a fun place! Casual setting, rambunctious conversation with illuminating folks. Nice setting for an espresso and chill. Kinda like a mellow fatty that leaves you with the feeling that even if time and space fail…gravity still works!

Heat is energy that means more wind so as long as we still have polar ice caps more faster wind means faster changes in daily temperature hot and to a decreasing amount cold. But still a cold front can now travel from the poles to down here much quicker than we are used to.
So yes freak snowstorms will happen. But I’m more worried about plants a big difference between high and low temperatures in a day killing plants quicker than the new high temperatures will.

Can you run that one by me a little less breathless and with more explanation? Because I don’t think it’s true. I get the heat is energy part. I don’t get that it causes wind which brings cold fronts from the poles more quickly. I don’t get the difference between high and low killing plants, is that related to the wind? Isn’t the difference between the within day high and low usually a function of humidity? And why is the wind the factor in how fast the fronts travel, and why are they coming from the poles? Just wanted to know where all that came from.

True, true, true — on all counts.

Someone was once quoted as saying, “energy is the future” — sure looks like Big Oil took that one to the bank.

As for economic debt being equivalent to slavery, that was the core argument the colonists used to promote the idea of revolution against England - debt = slavery (completely ignoring the slaves on the plantations, of course). Being constantly in debt to English companies and business interests was seen as economic slavery to the colonists.

And yes, we now owe our very lives to the whims of Big Insurance . . . who followed Big Oil’s model of restricting one segment of their corporate structure — like Kaiser Permanente, which is in only in certain states/areas, just as certain oil companies are localized — to a geographical location, effectively rationing and monopolizing markets.

Sucks, doesn’t it?

What makes you think they use anything as complicated as logic?

These are religious evangelicals, afterall. Logical thinking has no place in their scheme of things. They’re the same idiots who’re falling all over themselves to buy Sarah Palin’s new book (big surprise).

That is a good argument.

They sold us the big boondoggle nuclear energy with it too, we should be able to use it to good effect for our side. Great idea, thanks!
