Prolly a huge waiting list for Palin’s book at my library. Scary people in these parts I tell you. Very scary. New neighbor moved in – McCain/Palin sticker on honking big suv.
Cooling off, I B tired, will be heading off shortly. How are things up there? Did you know the Heads are playing not too far from you on 01-08-2010 & 01-09-2010 Chinook Winds Casino Resort, Lincoln City, OR 8:00 PM?

a girl can dream — i think she has crossed the line into illegality with some of her actions. the building of her house with material and labor from that white elephant sports center is just one example.
i started off looking for the taj mahal version on the utubes to no avail. saw the slim but went with levon. nice to see a recent video of him blowing that harp
And for any of you KIDS who never HEARD of, or heard, or saw, Lightning Hopkins, here’s a taste. Dude was a legend, still is. Run his other vids if you have time.
Believe that’s the night Keith Moon passed out, and the drummer was brought up out of the crowd! My kid bro was there, I wasn’t. I’ve always liked The Yardbirds version. ESPECIALLY this one. Keith Relf, Chris Dreja, Paul Samwell-Smith, Jeff Beck at their best.
Your memory is quite in order. I do tend to go postal though so lurking is likely more advisable for me! I can’t resist an occasional slake at the lake though so if I mystify, I’ll try to jist-i-fy.
Good lord, Charlie’s Classic! Forget who the original git picker was on the original cut.
Howard Mandel, I believe. It was incredible, still is. That’s a good version!
Well, the Senate Finance committee just wrapped up it’s bill. I don’t know whether to say I’m sad, frustrated, angry or sickened. I didn’t watch all of it today, but I caught the last part from where Sen. Wyden offered an amendment to insert ‘choice’ into a bill otherwise bereft of it. He was shot down so quickly and harshly that he didn’t even bother asking for a vote.
Wyden just withdrew the amendment.
WHO shot him down. It was Democrats. It was Baucus & Conrad (as you’d expect) and Kerry and Bingaman. The other Dems hadn’t even gotten around to speaking before Wyden withdrew it. He seemed to get support from Ensign, but none of the other Repubs spoke.
Why was this the outcome? Why were Dems against ‘choice’?
Kerry, Bingaman, Conrad and Baucus really jumped down his throat and asked for a CBO analysis. Wyden asked the staff, but was surprised they didn’t have it. So, he dug it out and passed it around. It said ‘no problems’. Well, that didn’t satisfy Kerry. He said he’d been talking to big employers in Mass. and they were dead set against it. Said it would destabilize their insurance plans. Baucus went so far as to say ‘CBO has not in fact analyzed it’. That left Wyden in shock since he had their statement in his hand. Then Conrad says CBO analyzed only one part of it and Baucus pulled out a pda and said ‘Yes, only that part’ from the CBO horse’s mouth. All I could think was this was a conspiracy led by Brutus and the knives were sharp. Wyden just sat in shock and listened.
Then Wyden “counter-attacked” and said he’d sent the whole amendment and nothing else to CBO, but he could see where this was going, so he withdrew the amendment. The amendment expired…dead of several knife wounds. Et tu Raytheon?
There’s apparently NO CHOICE in the entire bill. Pres. Obama should veto the thing because it doesn’t achieve his goals.
Why did these Democratic senators not confer with individuals? Why only big employers and unions? Why didn’t they consider the economic effects of our current system versus a system with real economic choice? It’s really stunning to see that out in the open.
It shows why the public option failed and why any attempt to put any kind of ‘choice’ in the bill failed — many Democrats don’t want individuals to have the freedom to choose their health plan. It’s as simple as that.
Shouldn’t they have had the courtesy to tell the President before he committed to calling for ‘choice’? Shouldn’t they have conferred with the party platform to see if they were in conformance with the views of the party’s members? Did they tell their constituents they were calling for reform but didn’t really want it?
They say we have an employer-based system and we should build on that. Tell GM.
They say choice would destabilize the employer-based system. Is that sacrosanct?
They say people might choose a plan which offers less coverage. Uh huh.
If you want to force people to have a certain level of coverage, then you have to force them with a mandate and employer-based plans are essentially that. But, what about the 45 million uninsured? If we have an employer-based system what happens to them?
They want a system where everyone is locked in together and all pay the same rates for the same level of healthcare. They don’t trust employees to pick good insurance plans and they don’t want individuals to buy, just groups. What they want is the large pool of a single-payer system, but with employers handling it.
Choice is anathema to them. That’s radical. That’s destabilizing. That’s damaging a company’s control of it’s employees.
Apparently the idea of portable health care/insurance scares big employers because they know they would lose some employees who hate being locked in to both their health care insurance plan AND that employer.
Isn’t there a large economic cost to the nation when big employers prevent mobility of the work force? Isn’t it anti-competitive (between companies)? Isn’t it a huge cost to companies products when they’re competing internationally?
Where do we get such senators?
Look, we’re either going to have competition with portability and a reduction of or an end to the employer-based system for many people or we’re going to continue to have no economic choice or competition to restrain costs. I have to agree with Sen. Ensign & Sen. Wyden that belief in the individual and freedom to make economic choices is crucial for competition and cost constraint to work and we should go with that instead of being lackeys for corporations.
It’s truly disheartening to find your own party working against the President’s goals.
Skin the root, get rid of the bottom fuzzy or dirty part.
Just use a carrot peeler, or a sharp knife.
Then, cut it half top down.
Cut half inch thick slices from it all.
Then, go back and cut the slices into half inch by half inch ’strips’.
Cut those down into half inch by half inch cubes.
Black Pan.
Two cups water (or chicken stock).
One tablespoon chicken base paste.
Add Madras Curry powder to taste.
Rough chop 10 garlic cloves.
Three carrots chopped up into half inch by half inch cubes.
Rough chop 1/4 fennel bulb (anise).
Sea salt and pepper to taste (be careful with sea salt, chicken base is salty).
1/4 cup coconut milk.
Bring to boil, put boneless skinless chicken breasts (whole, or cubed) into pan.
Put lid on pan, reduce heat to medium, simmer till done (15 minutes max).
Either take out whole chicken breast, and reduce pan juices till thick, or add some dusting of fine sifted flour to thicken. Or, just take 1/4 of the pan juices with veggies and puree in blender, and return to pan to thicken.
Cube chicken, return to pan, and serve over Basmati Rice flavored with lite soy, ginger, and garlic.
You kiddin me? They’s from SACTO!!!!

What is that girl’s problem Asians and Hispanics get along in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle every Asian grocery store I’ve seen here has a better Hispanics section than the chain grocery stores plus there are Hispanic stores here too!
One Asian grocery store has a Salvadoran taco stand inside I don’t here about racial fights in the area I’m thinking Michelle’s environment was not the cause of her crazy?
The million-circulation New York Times has an audience of more than 15 million online. The U.K. paper The Guardian, with its 350,000 circulation, has become, online, with 10 times its print readership, a significant international brand. One theory about the decline in the fortunes of The Wall Street Journal (which allowed Murdoch to buy it) is that, because of its paid wall, the Journal was not a factor in Google searches, causing a fundamental decline in its importance, impacting its brand and standing with advertisers.
Rupert wants newspapers to be behind a paywall despite these facts? Will he put Fox News behind a Paywall?
Just what will the Righty Blogs do if they can’t steal as Rupert puts it Glen Beck, O’Reily etc’s content?
What will College Republicans do if they can’t get Fox News quotes online for their college papers.
The future of the GOP on the Net (such as it is) will suffer.
A whole generation of young Conservatives without the Mothers Milk poisonous bile of Fox New on the Net to sustain their rage…might lose Many some a couple? of members.

1) We want to read for ourselves what Glen said because we just can’t believe he said that.

hey nahant — and g’nite nahant – glad to see you are almost caught up with lost
evening suz, pups. Just caught up w/LN.
Prolly a huge waiting list for Palin’s book at my library. Scary people in these parts I tell you. Very scary. New neighbor moved in – McCain/Palin sticker on honking big suv.
hey sunny – how ya doing tonight?
Great song, thanks Suz.
hey margot – thanks. how’s ohio tonight?
Cooling off, I B tired, will be heading off shortly. How are things up there? Did you know the Heads are playing not too far from you on 01-08-2010 & 01-09-2010 Chinook Winds Casino Resort, Lincoln City, OR 8:00 PM?
You should go!
evening, suz
thanks for the heads up that guy. not sure if i will be working here or not those dates — lincoln city is about an hour south of me. the ty curtis band whom i featured last thurs nite, is playing at the roadhouse in lincoln city this sat nite. i’ll be here with ya’ll for late late nite cartoon nite.
hey ppd – how’s the south south bay tonight?
Tell Hamsher you need some Headhunters music. ;)
beautiful day here – outstanding sept-oct so far
How’s everything up north?
they are playing on fri and sat nites that guy – gonna have to check the budget (currently all extra monies are going to teeth) and the work schedule.
can’t promise i’ll be able to go but i will certainly keep open the possibility
fall is here. rain off and on all week. i’m enjoying it.
Suz, ohio is warmish during the day, although i had to scrape frost of the car this morning.
Sunny, there are lots of Palin fans in my area. 4,000 people packed into the local high school to hear her back in 2008…
We’re doing the rain dance, and hoping for a good season
in town today, i saw a pick-em-up truck with an obama is not my president bumpersticker parked in front of the courthouse.
sigh
i closed out the rain gauge for the year at midnight last night – 42.06 inches — our average is 70 inches
annual rainfall is calculated from 10/1 to 9/30.
it was one year ago today that i moved in here. time sure has flown since doing so.
Hmmmmm … A packed house for Palin reminds me of my favorite Sinclair Lewis quote:
“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross.”
the only time i wanna see palin have a packed house is when fdl is live blogging her criminal trial from the courthouse
The first & fifth amendments of our Constitution make Palin’s brand of craven, ignorant nativism a merit badge, rather than a crime, Suz.
a girl can dream — i think she has crossed the line into illegality with some of her actions. the building of her house with material and labor from that white elephant sports center is just one example.
Yeah, you nailed it.
Here’s a Sinclair Lewis dream team for ya …. Palin/Bachmann 2012.
*hitting brain bleach button*
dream a little dream
Like lemmings off a cliff …. Palin & Bachmann preachin’ about real Amerikins …. follow us into the battle of armaggedon.
black is back

Da Voision I Grew Up With, Love That Helm/Davis, Though!
