The New York Times has a revealing article about the health industry’s behind the scenes lobbying to undercut the same regulations they claim to support. One of their lobbyists, Tony Coehlo, seems to be obscuring the issues.

An important new filing by military JAG defense counsel in the Military Commission proceeding USA v. KSM, et al. challenges the validity of the 2006 MCA, which has been passed in revised form by the Senate as part of its FY 2010 Defense Authorization Act.

Rep. Grijalva is doing what we always ask progressives to do.  While others stood by and watched Van Jones and Yosi Sergent and a huge piece of progressive infrastructure swept away by capitulation to Glenn Beck’s McCarthyist tactics, he’s fighting.

Let him know we need more of that.

The remarkable interview of Lawrence Wilkerson by Andy Worthington published this week has a number of insightful revelations. One bit, mentioned almost as an aside, stands out to me.

Harry Reid will likely “meld” the Senate HELP and Finance (Baucus) Committee health bills by using the Baucus framework, not out of preference for “center” versus “left” but because Baucus’ framework is consistent with the focus on cutting Medicare and not expanding coverage.
