Newsmax calling for a coup didn’t Bill Mahr lose his network tv show over advertiser concerns when Bill suggested the al Quieda guys were brave to sacrifice their lives for a cause?
Seems to me calling for a coup against the President should be worse much worse. I expect the writer to be fired yesterday.

Advertiser boycott on Newsmax’s advertisers! Hurt people by taking away what they not you care about. The GOP loves money and in this economy nobody can afford even a 1% drop in sales.

Anybody know who John Perry is? In which administrations did he serve and in what capacity? Is he related to secessionist Rick Perry? Do rethugs take such provocation seriously? Gee… I joke about rethugs plotting coups but I never seriously considered that they really might be doing precisely that…

Major General Smedley Butler, a real patriot!

The Plot to Seize the White House by Jules Archer
http://www.eclectica.org/v1n1/….._plot.html

Would the corporate capitalists who health insure Americans and enslave a people overthrow a president and government to protect corporate profit? A modern day “American Liberty League,” coup against a sitting president to protect corporations and status quo interests which work to undermine constitutional protections in the lust for endless profit? Is Newsmax advocating treason as was alleged in the 1933 Business Plot whistleblown by Maj General Smedley Butler?

2009 Corporate Health Insurance American Enslavement Plot

Holy crap! I saw yesterday that his brief bio at Newsmax says he served on the staffs of two presidents. I decided to poke around a little more, and boy was I surprised to find out WHICH two presidents:

John L. Perry, a newspaper editor who served on the White House staffs of both LBJ and Carter

I truly expected him to have served with Nixon and Reagan. Maybe I should dig some more…

“Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.”

Sounds a lot like the American Liberty League’s plans. This man is espousing “treason.”

that sounds about right. Someone should ferret them out and keep an eye on them. 20,000, by C-Street claims, junior military officers foresworn to a cause other than their flag, rising through the ranks is scary. Imagine thousands (or, more likely, assuming that the C-Streeters are exaggerating their numbers, hundreds) of Boykins plotting mishief, with guns and access to strategic bombers. Sedition is still prosecutable for active duty military.

Oran’s Dictionary of the Law (1983) defines treason as: “…[a]…citizen’s actions to help a foreign government overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation].” In many nations, it is also often considered treason to attempt or conspire to overthrow the government, even if no foreign country is aided or involved by such an endeavour.

so far, Perry is being seditious, not treasonous, so far as we know. Calling for the overthrow of the government is merely seditious. For sedition to become treason he would have to be caught at a conspiracy meeting with plans to storm WDC, and a couple of witnesses present. Sedition is not prosecutable under current law for civilians AFAIK so Perry hasn’t committed a crime and his speech is protected, however deplorable it might be.

I am curious why these idiots think that their coup would be bloodless. Surely the current legitimate government would fight.. and the people would resis. as well. Are these orcs so clueless that they would actually
believe that we’d all rise up and support them in a glorious Ukrainian-style lovefest?

The guy doesn’t know shit. A commission is issued under the authority of the president and states that the officer “is to observe and follow such orders and directives, from time to time, as may be given by me, or in the future, President of the United States of America, …” It also states that the commission is to “continue in force at the pleasure of the President of the United States of America.” Of course any military people participating in a coup, or any dipshit advocating one, doesn’t really give a damn about the Constitution.

I decided to refute some of Perry’s arguments in his coup column, so I did a Seminal diary. Once I hit publish and started checking the links to make sure they work, I found that Newsmax appears to have pulled the plug on the column. The link now goes to the Newsmax front page. Perry’s older column links still appear to work. Looks to me like Newsmax just might have a problem on their hands.

Do you remember the tobacco executive who can out with a purported study that claimed that smokers weren’t a drag on the medical system because they died early? I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the medical insurance corps have figured out exactly where their breakeven point is, i.e., exactly how sick you could be before they start incurring expenses exceeding your premiums. And I’ll further bet, that’s the point at which they start looking for excuses not to pay, and hurrying along your death.
