Newsmax calling for a coup didn’t Bill Mahr lose his network tv show over advertiser concerns when Bill suggested the al Quieda guys were brave to sacrifice their lives for a cause?
Seems to me calling for a coup against the President should be worse much worse. I expect the writer to be fired yesterday.
Advertiser boycott on Newsmax’s advertisers! Hurt people by taking away what they not you care about. The GOP loves money and in this economy nobody can afford even a 1% drop in sales.
So the military coup in Honduras has given uberreichwing militarist John Perry the idea that a military coup here would be good for us too. I wonder if Bill Kristol has kissed him behind the ear.
Seven Days in Mayberry
I recon the idea was always there. . .since he watched Seven Days in May.
whoa, that was weird!
NYS court dismissed Dan Rather’s lawsuit. He’ll appeal.
Anybody know who John Perry is? In which administrations did he serve and in what capacity? Is he related to secessionist Rick Perry? Do rethugs take such provocation seriously? Gee… I joke about rethugs plotting coups but I never seriously considered that they really might be doing precisely that…
Quick search doesn’t find anything on this clown except articles of his on Newsmax. Not worth the time to dig any further for just another batshit crazy wingnut who’s apparently been at it for years.
McCain wants us to clear out the bad guys….so articulate. Thank you
Dan’s sure spending a lot of bucks on this quest.
Major General Smedley Butler, a real patriot!
The Plot to Seize the White House by Jules Archer

Would the corporate capitalists who health insure Americans and enslave a people overthrow a president and government to protect corporate profit? A modern day “American Liberty League,” coup against a sitting president to protect corporations and status quo interests which work to undermine constitutional protections in the lust for endless profit? Is Newsmax advocating treason as was alleged in the 1933 Business Plot whistleblown by Maj General Smedley Butler?

Holy crap! I saw yesterday that his brief bio at Newsmax says he served on the staffs of two presidents. I decided to poke around a little more, and boy was I surprised to find out WHICH two presidents:
I truly expected him to have served with Nixon and Reagan. Maybe I should dig some more…
Morning all. I wonder if John Perry was counting these generals and admirals in his coup plot.
http://www.politico.com/news/s…..27705.html
If he served on LBJ’s staff that would prolly put him in his 70s. Another old white man with Alzheimers.
hehe. maybe he’s a self-appointed satirist or agent-provocateur over at Newsmax….
No shit. What can ya say when ya get called on telling everybody the Martians are coming.
There is a photo at my link. He looks like a dessicated Jesse Helms.
I think he probably had something to do with LBJ’s
staffstaph.well… there are the thousands of military officers that the wingnuts over at C-Street claim to have recruited to their cause…
Judging from a quick scan of its content Newsmax wouldn’t even let him comment on their blog, if they have one, if that were the case. Talk about uberreichwing. A smile would prolly break the face of anyone involved at Newsmax.
This is really disturbing.
Unrated thought (kind of)… reading this brought to mind that Exxon has been the sponsor of our fair city’s Fourth of July fireworks and the finale has been to the music movement from Star Wars, death of the Republic two years in a row.
Yet another disturbing event.
Hmmmm. Newsmax. Another part of the Aussie Rupert’s media empire. And he’s opened the spigot for Ailes and his $24 million payday. Ailes declared war on the Obama administration.
Why is Aussie Rupert trying to destroy America?
A kindly looking Chester the Molester. “Want some candy, little girl/boy?”
Not destroy it, take it as the “promised land!”
I would imagine most of them graduated from the Air Farce Academy within the last 10 years. The Air Farce really dropped the ball on the religious crap at the Academy.
Perry is editor and boss over at the Rome, GA News-Tribune.
Thanks for that info. Murdoch is like Medusa within the industry.
Yo, Raven
That’s your territory. Your mission, should you accept it, is to tell us more about this uberreichwingnut.
Cue spooky theme music.
“Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.”
Sounds a lot like the American Liberty League’s plans. This man is espousing “treason.”
that sounds about right. Someone should ferret them out and keep an eye on them. 20,000, by C-Street claims, junior military officers foresworn to a cause other than their flag, rising through the ranks is scary. Imagine thousands (or, more likely, assuming that the C-Streeters are exaggerating their numbers, hundreds) of Boykins plotting mishief, with guns and access to strategic bombers. Sedition is still prosecutable for active duty military.
This would make a great movie especially because today’s audience can see the same stuff happening now.
Funny you should bring that up. I’ve been wondering in the last two days if C-Street has been behind the anti healthcare, anti Obama rhetoric and behind McCrystal.
I think we’ll see more of this crap. An AA prez was the straw that caused the neoconfederates to lose all their marbles at once instead of just popping out from behind their ear hair one at a time.
The demise of C-Street should be fairly easy to accomplish. All we need is some hookers with hidden cameras.
Hmmm, Rome is was up there in carpet country. My neighbor lives up there during the week and escapes back here on the weekends. Recall the case of Marcus Dixon who was railroaded on a rape charge up there?
What is it with these bozos and blowjobs? Now I see where this clown is coming from.
Hey, General Sherman, ya missed a bunch.
Quibbling here. Isn’t calling for the overthrow of the country sedition? I thought you had to be working with a foreign country for it to be treason.
Good morning my peeps.
My belief is that the fight is all any of us have. Without the fight life would be meaningless.
All I wish for is an even playing field.
Perry would be the kind of person who would lose a game of poker and then pull out a gun demanding all the money. God wanted him to win.
From Wiki’s article on treason
On edit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treason
This real life analogy needs to be “hammered,” into the American mind. Corpo-media will not “enlighten” the public. It is not in their self interest! This is our responsibility to express the “”obvious”" to the deaf dumb and blind incapable of critical thinking skills! History repeats and those ignorant of history are its enablers. Thanks for your observation and comments! U 2 Southern D!
no, not quibbling….
Siibel Edmonds is unmuzzled. Article linked in my comment in the last thread. A must read. Working on a diary that should be up later today.
Wish we had double bold.
Not at all. Had to refresh my memory.
so far, Perry is being seditious, not treasonous, so far as we know. Calling for the overthrow of the government is merely seditious. For sedition to become treason he would have to be caught at a conspiracy meeting with plans to storm WDC, and a couple of witnesses present. Sedition is not prosecutable under current law for civilians AFAIK so Perry hasn’t committed a crime and his speech is protected, however deplorable it might be.
I am curious why these idiots think that their coup would be bloodless. Surely the current legitimate government would fight.. and the people would resis. as well. Are these orcs so clueless that they would actually
believe that we’d all rise up and support them in a glorious Ukrainian-style lovefest?
The guy doesn’t know shit. A commission is issued under the authority of the president and states that the officer “is to observe and follow such orders and directives, from time to time, as may be given by me, or in the future, President of the United States of America, …” It also states that the commission is to “continue in force at the pleasure of the President of the United States of America.” Of course any military people participating in a coup, or any dipshit advocating one, doesn’t really give a damn about the Constitution.
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
US KIA Irak: 4346
US KIA Afghanistan: 853
US MBS 2009: 33.456
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
I think it’s merely more rhetoric to keep the southern segregationists (polite term for racists) and the other brain dead reichwingnuts fired up.
in the US, I believe that overtly plotting or the overthrow of the government with domestic co-conspirators was traditionally considered to be treason. Wasn’t Aaron Burr charged (and acquitted) of treason? I don’t know what the statute currently says though.
for history buffs:
http://www.law.umkc.edu/facult…..count.html
The Burr treason trial (before he murdered Alexander Hamilton and fled, predictably, to South Carolina (!), where he was shielded by da’ locals – probably Joe Wilson’s ancestors – from Federal vengeance). Secessionists then and now down there…
I decided to refute some of Perry’s arguments in his coup column, so I did a Seminal diary. Once I hit publish and started checking the links to make sure they work, I found that Newsmax appears to have pulled the plug on the column. The link now goes to the Newsmax front page. Perry’s older column links still appear to work. Looks to me like Newsmax just might have a problem on their hands.
Media Matters archived it.
I’m sure Perry can find a more welcoming audience over in Glen Beckland or on Redstate or Freeperland or Rushville. Newsmax does, occasionally, exercise a few iotas of journalistic responsibility.
But isn’t it interesting if Newsmax took down the link? Did the Secret Service come around asking questions about someone fomenting a coup?
Thanks for the archive link. I’ll add it to the diary.
Good mornin FireDogs!
On the floor of the House, Rep. Alan Grayson revealed – with flair and a very nice visual prop – the truth about the Republicans’ health care plan:
If you get sick, ‘Die Quickly.’
The best answer to government “death panels” I’ve heard yet…
Of course they should take down the post. They should never have put it up in the first place.
The out of control wingnuts, with coup and assassination talk, is yet one of those other grotesquely depressing conditions of the U.S. today that I can’t bear to think or talk about.
Do you remember the tobacco executive who can out with a purported study that claimed that smokers weren’t a drag on the medical system because they died early? I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the medical insurance corps have figured out exactly where their breakeven point is, i.e., exactly how sick you could be before they start incurring expenses exceeding your premiums. And I’ll further bet, that’s the point at which they start looking for excuses not to pay, and hurrying along your death.
Of course.
And electronic filing of health information will make such number crunching so much easier.
In the past, Newsmax has taken down stuff once it engendered controversy. They’re a for-profit business and are paranoid (much more so than Faux) about losing advertisers.
Hey eCAHN,
You’ve identified the REAL DEATH PANELS, right there all along, getting more and more powerful as the decades pass, driven by the greediest profiteers in an unregulated industry, who have no accountability in the market because there is no real competition.
Right about now we ought to be asking ourselves “Where will the next Fort Sumter Be?”
Thank you MM! I couldn’t find it, either. Anyone able to follow the link in the ad showing under Newsmax’ “sponsors” page about “Free Handgun! Multimillionaire will arm and train you…..”?? It was broken for me…. and that scares me.
