Even though I’m pretty far-left and don’t agree with her on many things, I would be lying if I told you that she doesn’t leave me breathless and speechless :). Maybe that’s why I never seem to be able to really “attack” her on politics, even though I know I should, lol. Especially when she started attacking Obama at her rallies in October of last year :(.

As Lowry points out, the Dixie Chicks are country music singers. Their audience expects a certain political orientation, and when it turned out that they didn’t share it, members of that audience pointed that fact out and suggested that people not buy their albums.

Sorry, but what does country music have to do with being Republican or Democratic?

And, in the land of Liberty, why are the Republicans screaming at people who just exercise their own freedom of speech?

I don’t mind Palin criticizing Obama’s policies so much. I do hate it when an American goes overseas and shows such ignorance. But, she’s free to do it and we’re free to criticize her for her nutty statements.

If that is not criticism please enlighten me as to what you consider it might be…..

So were Woody Guthrie and Johnny Cash. And Gram Parsons. And Emylou Harris. And Drive By Truckers. And Steve Earle. Etc.

Uh huh. Which is why their music had effects ‘way out of proportion to the apparent initial impact.
