Kentucky’s resident amateur oncologist, Jim Bunning, is a one-man death panel these days. Primarily concerned about delaying the passage of any significant health care reform, Bunning added an amendment to the Senate Finance Committee bill that would provide the CBO with "final legislative language to determine precisely what provisions cost". The Democrats argued that this added requirement would delay a vote by at least two weeks:
"What is the rush?" Bunning demanded. "Taking a few extra weeks will not kill me, I hope, or anyone else on this committee."
Tell that to Teddy Kennedy, creep.
So all you Kentuckians who are trying to deal with life-threatening illnesses without the benefit of health insurance or access to decent health care, your Senator doesn’t give a crap about you. You’re on your own.
Moreover, it would seem Bunning was so exercised over the health care debate, he slipped into a momentary coma:
During opening remarks at the Senate Finance Committee session, the Kentucky Republican appeared fast asleep for several minutes, with his head cocked to the side and his eyes closed, before a staffer roused him. Bunning’s head was propped in his hand and his mouth was slightly open while he slept, several witnesses told HOH.
The staffer nudged his shoulder to wake him once it became clear that members of the audience had noticed the snoozing Senator (it was apparently the giggling from the crowd that tipped the staffer off).
Good thing Bunning has gold-plated health insurance so he can get that sleep apnea looked at.
Republicans. No, really. They care.

I’m completely in favor of Republicans sleeping on the job. They do less damage that way.
Is Fineman toasted tonight on Rachel?
a small reminder – your Leader, President Obama, is referring to his efforts as health insurance reform, not health care reform.
The insurance companies have asked him to pass a law compelling everyone to buy their crappy product, and the Democratic politicians are scrambling to comply.
the significant health care reform you mention? its called HR 676, and it is not just snoozing Republicans obstructing it.
I hope Baucus keeps the committee working well into the night and we can see more of Bunning’s snooze time.
It would seem that the minions of the Republican Confederates are returning to their old ways.

Jim Bunning: a testament to the power of the Low Information Voter.
If only it were the big sleep.
From Wikipedia:
He may look like he’s sleeping but beware if he suddenly grabs his balls.
That happened on 9/12. Why are we just finding out about it?
The sneaky ball or the confusing ball? :)
You’re too much!
I make it a habit not to wish anybody dead. Now, his career, on the other hand…
The whole reason for breathing if you are a republic is to bring down Obama. It doesn’t matter what the American people think. They want to screw up anything and everything so they can blame Obama for it. They are totally unamerican.
With Bunning sporting a 77-year old cremaster muscle it’s more likely he would trip over them.
How appropriate that old Jim is standing in a handicapped zone. “g
Survey sez: Yes
Also: Lieberman.
Do you expect the corporate media to report an a lynching of a government official in the South? They have a status quo to protect.
According to Rachel, it was reported in the local newspaper on a more timely basis, but I forget what she said about why the national news did not pick up.
ZZZZzzzzzZZZzzzzz… What?!?!??!
OT: San Francisco places 6th in most expensive housing markets. You’ll have to try harder.
It struck me that the investigator said (after only 11 days) they are trying to determine if it involved foul play. Right, people committing suicide so often take the time to scrawl “Fed” on their chests it must be hard to sort them all out.
What we can tell is that they’re trying to keep it under wraps as much as possible. If I were in a generous mood, which I’m not, I’d say that the FBI has some leads that they’re following and don’t want to much publicity. But as I’m not in a generous mood, I’ll say that the FBI doesn’t want publicity because of their rank incompetence.
Let’s see. A physician that performed legal abortions is murdered. Check. A “liberal” church is shot up resulting in the death of parishioners. Check A government security guard is murdered in the Holocaust Museum. Check. A government census official is lynched in the South. Check. The values voters are on the move.
‘rank incompetence’ sounds generous to me regardless of your mood.
I’d go with rank incompetence as well.
It was in Kentucky – maybe Bunning did it.
Republicans and conservatives have plenty of deranged minions to do their “dirty” work. After all they’ve been indoctrinated well.
status………for now……. quo
Remember the Chair of the Arkansas DemocratIC Party getting shot dead as he worked at his desk last year.
Why those such as all of Pox Newz, Lush Limpbaugh, etc. who happily stoke these killings are not held to account by advertisers, audience, and the government is a travesty.
The real curveball would be if he decides to get revenge against his party by voting FOR reform. Wouldn’t that be a hoot? LOL
There are times I day dream of just a limited amount of power that I might freeze all of Congress’s own health care benefits until they get their job on health care done.
Then instead of napping or delaying, stalling or obstructing. Republicans and some of the Bule Doggies would be a tad more ambitious to complete their work to regain their health care.
Alas, it is only a daydream…………
The Congress is back in session and doing the dirty work for the Medical Industrial Complex.
mcconnell $3.3M, hatch $2.9M, baucus $2.8M, grassley $2.7M,

Co-Author Dr. Steffie Woolhandler of a Recent Harvard Study on Annual Deaths of America’s Uninsured, says the lack of coverage can be tied to about 45,000 deaths a year in the United States. The only way to affordably cover all Americans is through a Medicare-for-All, Single-Payer System. A Single-Payer System would generate $300-$400 billion in administrative savings annually, enough to cover all of the uninsured, and to plug the gaps in coverage for Americans with only partial coverage. Obviously, Medicare-for-all is anathema to the insurance industry. What politicians are doing is saving insurance industry profits, by sacrificing American lives.
12 Million Americans were denied health care coverage by the Medical Industrial Complex because they had a pre-existing medical condition. 12K Americans are denied insurance coverage everyday by a for-profit Insurance bureaucrat. (Source: WaPo Article 05′ by Harvard Prof. E. Warren)
Medical malpractice lawsuits are a hot topic but, are they? Tort Reform is such a “Red Herring” and is easily disproved. A 2004 report by the Congressional Budget Office said medical malpractice makes up only 2 percent of U.S. health spending. Even “significant reductions” would do little to curb health-care expenses, it concluded.
bush(43) economic speech writer david frum, at least, is willing to admit the idea about selling insurance across state lines is a crock:
New Jersey health policies cost more in large part because New Jersey hospitals and doctors charge more. If I buy a cheaper Kentucky policy that reimburses my providers at Kentucky rates, leaving me to pay the balance, how much good does that do me? And if the Kentucky policy is made to pay New Jersey rates, there vanishes my low Kentucky price.
These are some of the easily refuted arguments bought and paid for by the Medical Industrial Complex to derail any chance of their criminally massive profits being reduced.

After watching that goat screw on C-SPAN, you would catch some zzzzz’s also after more or less every amendment proposed by repubs were voted down..
That’s because so many Repub “ideas” have already been incorporated. For several election cycles now, the American majority has voted for more DemocratIC candidates, so shouldn’t those politicians be reflecting the will of the majority?
The only reason the Dems might start losing some seats is because they’re not being Liberal enough, and kowtowing to the losing side too much.
They voted for the dems because they ran as conservative Dems don’t kid yourself..Do you really think they would have been elected if they said they would sign off on that crazy ass cap and trade, stimulas or the takeover of auto companies? Tell me this…how do you improve health care for millions of people when the majority of docs don’t take medicade?
