Well now, here is a change. My local VA hospital now is tuned to CNN during the day on all the TVs thruout the hospital clinic waiting rooms and, at least during the evening hours in the ER waiting room, they now have TV Land. Why is this a good thing? Well, the last time I actually paid any attention to the TVs in the various waiting rooms-I usually bring a book or three to read so have not paid any attention to TV for at least 6-8 months- they all played faux news 24/7. So, I wonder if people complained or if the local VA management decided that a hospital is a place where people need to be calm, not raging at the TV or getting into arguments about what one of the wing nuts said.
Finally a sane decision by local VA management.

If Beck did that to my wife I would beat him to death with a Louivill Slugger and plead justifiable homcide. Seriously!!!

I’ve got lots more, because all of these were used by the hosts of KSFO and their management. That is why I developed the advertiser alert program that lead to them losing 28 advertisers. The management will keep supporting people like Beck because they think that the ratings will some how translate to money. If not now eventually.

This IS such a thing as BAD PR. Bad PR is PR that costs the company money. And when they can’t figure out how to turn it into a money maker.

Beck right now is being subsidized by Fox. In the past his wacky stunts may have led to ratings that may have led to money. But make no mistake, 62 advertisers leaving is big.

We cost KSFO 28 advertisers in 2007 and then in 2008 Melanie Morgan was let go because of the money lost at the station. They tried to say it was, “industry wide” but that was just so they would have an excuse to fire Morgan and not get sued for breach of contract.

I advised the Hate Hurts American campaign that cost Michael Savage 18 advertisers. Last week he was cut off of his San Francisco broadcast on KNEW. There is a reason that happened. Money. He was costing them more money than he was bringing in. That is the corporate sin that people forget in the “free market”. But the station owners haven’t forgotten.

We need to remind the media of the financial consequences of Beck’s racism.
We need to remind the corporations that HE IS NOT A SAFE PLACE TO ADVERTISE!

Advertisers don’t want controversy. The host and station might want it, but the advertisers don’t.

Finally, let’s think about how to take the next step in the financial path to ruin. Fox News needs to explain to their stock holders (who aren’t all wackos) that their are going to keep subsidizing Glenn Beck for 3 more months as a money losing venture because they can run Fox promos. But they need to also show on the balance sheet who is paying for this subsidy.

If the money is coming out of the Fox News advertising budget that needs to show up on the debit side. Who is paying for this? How long will it be maintained?

For some reason, honestly religious people and honestly religious leaders never speak out against people like Beck. Heck, Bush has pretended to be religious for years and no one has ever called him on that.

I’ll tell you a little story.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying to find someone from the religious community to speak out against certain talk radio hosts support of torture. Hannity is Catholic. The Catholic Church is against torture. I’ve contacted the New York Archdiocese, a priest who wrote a book about torture,national security and religious ethics and a group whose charter is to be against torture. The group was helpful but the Archdiocese never returned my email and calls. The priest was clearly told not to get involved in a challenge to Sean Hannity.

They see no benefit in challenging these people on this issue. I developed a plan, and was attempting to line up the experts, but the religious experts aren’t willing to take on the right wing bullies who are pro-torture.

We have heavy equipment. Lots of heavy equipment. You would never find the body.
