Zedders…!
nice zed ct – how’s hawaii (and the top of the mt) tonight?
g’evening Suze! How’s the mouth?
Brain bleach may be required.
Wild Thing version 1
Wild Thing version 2
hey ndfg – mouth is better each day — forking stitches are still forking irritating tho
how’s your eye?
hey mr why — how ya doing tonight (besides making me run through brain bleach)?
Gorgeous weather at sea level… Clear and brisk up here…! Does the Seminal work like the Oxdown Gazette…? I’m pondering whether to post on Shari’a law and how it’s misconstrued by the MSM and many of the beltway elite… Inparticular, Gaffney’s appearance on Tweety’s show today…!
sure does ct – diary away dood
Ooh, what happened to ya both…? Howdy, NDFG…! *g*
not too bad, surgeon saw an improvement from 11 pm last night to 8 am this morning. Still can’t see anything outta that eye. He & the other speciailst were making interested noises and 9 words outta 10 they used weren’t in my advanced vocabulary *g* but they agreed that it looks better than last night. Steroid drops once an hour until i see him again on thurs.
friday i had 5 more teeth pulled in my quest to eventually get an upper plate
My pressing question: What’s with the big blue button?
I’m skeered to push it.
of course ct — if you had been checking my personal blog you would already know this (hands on hips)
hey sunny what big blue button?
Wow, that sounds real bad, M’dear…! Eye injuries are always a serious injury… *g*
sounds like newton was giving ya good info on the drops ndfg
Uh-oh, I have like no access to a ‘puter except when I’m up here… It’s not my fault… *sniffle*…! ;-)
yeah newton had some reassuring info.
I have to say that I wasn’t happy that President Obama didn’t exercise any real leadership at the climate summit today – no new targets or specific commtments, no concrete initiatives, no leading by example.. just more of the shrubbish line that other countries have to do more, more concretely, while the US just offers vague promises. Not happy.
hey blub – obama should have been stronger *sigh*
so you saying the mt blocks blogspot?
evening all – not long for this thread I’m afraid.
CTtut – left you one down below.
Heya Suz!
Been waiting to spring this one on you – Sir Douglas Quintet
crap – can’t find it – be back in a few
I’m similarly miffed with the vagueness of Obama’s “Full Ginsberg” and still no leadership on Healthcare…!
Am I the only person seeing a BIG blue button? wooooooooo….
hey jayt…. mendocino? love that sdq tune
I’ll read it when I get done with my first hour shift…! ;-)
Hiya, pups!
It might snow tonight. It is 35 right now, and the snow was down to about 600 feet on the nearest mountains, when it was getting dark. We’re at 335 feet on our lake. Ms. ET is down in Kenai until Thursday, and when I asked her if she wanted her studded tires put on before she went there, she said “Nah!”
where is the big blue button? is it a popup? i have popups blocked
hey et – good to see ya again. hit 91 here today at the beach but it is a comfy 61 outside now
yeah
sure
right
i’m extremely near-sighted & i’m middle-aged. Right in the zone for developing torn and/or detached retinas. Which i did, in sequence. Laser surgery for the tears. Then it started to detach anyhow. Cryosurgery for that. Then yesterday i developed a rare inflammatory reaction. blech.
Good song choice, Suze. Paul Rodgers has always been an under-rated singer and his band is nice and tight.
Heh, a chip of the ole block, eh…? Either way he can’t go wrong…! West Point is a surer ladder for promotion, tho…! ;-)
ETette is on an island off the Oregon coast, at a conference for AmeriCorps people. I didn’t know there were any islands big enough for people off the Oregon coast. Do you know where that might be?
*oof* You have my deepest sympathies and fervent hopes for a speedy and full recovery…! *g*
This is the only WIld Thing that ever mattered.
hey that guy – how’s the bay area tonight?
Suze, it’s where your youtube is probably embedded (big blue circle with a white arrow in it).
Saw the same thing at Lisa’s place. Betcha it’s something my new Opera turbo setting is doing (maybe instead of downloading the whole link).
Fine by me – things are faster here. Just assumed it was FDL’s doing.
there is one south of me… it starts with an n if i remember correctly. part of the state park system and is used for retreats its. iirc there is a ferry or boat that takes people out to it.
Suze: too damn warm, still 70F outside. It was supposed to cool off but the forecast has changed. 90s through the weekend. BLEH.
yup… bet ya need flash for opera. flash is needed to run utubes.
i’m not an opera user… sorry sunny
i’m so glad i moved. sept and oct hot is miserable hot
Bad Company!! Ya gotta be shitting me!!
Hi Suz and Pups how goes it??
We are trying to recover from putting 3 cords of Almond wood away.. stacked and covered for the winter!! We be pooped!!
That might be it. n… Island. She mentioned a little ferry, and that it was further south than Manzanita.
yeah, that’s it.
just couldn’t find the ‘fish out of water’ version, which is way cool
Sir Douglas Quintet at the Playboy Mansion:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_2OziFpIb8
P.S. Randy Newman alert – hey, we all start out as idiots.
Amazing high temps today at the beach.
I’m heading to Manzanita tomorrow. May try for some time at Cape Lookout this weekend or maybe so far as Bullards Beach and Bandon. Low tide is at sunset Sat so I plan to take advantage of it.
Dang! Can’t find your phone# Suz. Don’t know if you would be up for visitors (?).
Bad Company was a damn good band. Not the Who, but only the who was the Who.
hey nahant – my cable tv and tubes has been intermittent since last night. bad company seemed a natural
nestucca? neskowin? i know someone who goes there every thanksgiving for retreat. no phones no tv no tubes no radio kinda place.
edit: there is one phone for emergencies
Oh and BLOG Whoring ….
don’t forget the 10-10 for the next NorCal.. Bear Creek meetup!! Let me know if ya going to make it!! Email mail at nahanter at Da g mail thingy…
hey starbucks. i’m still recovering from dental work and not up to visiting nor company.
has been lovely but the weather dood says the marine fog will be back and there is a chance of rain later in the week.
i’ll email ya the # for another time.
and just for the hell of it:
“She’s About A Mover”:

On MSNBC tonight I vaguely heard something about a difference of opinion between the AFL-CIO and the liberal congress-critters on healthcare matters. Can anyone explain and/or pass along a good link? Thanks.
my other fav sdq tune jayt
woohoo ty
I just about ran away to Mendocino when I was maybe 16. Fortunately it snowed and I thought…oh well, can’t go now. (whew) Love this song, thanks.
Soy de San Luis.
Shizza Suz hope ya feel better soon…
I will be up there the end of October… Still need to meet the new grand kids my daughter adopted and do some Salmon/SteelHead fishing with my oldest son…
hey wigwam
wyden was on rachel and he was making it sound like he is driving a wedge between labor and d’s. i missed some of it…
its up at rachel now
hey margot – how’s ohio tonight?
Thanks, Suz. Understand.
Neskowin, Nestucca are not islands. There is a group of rocks called Oregon Islands NWR SW off Cape Blanco, but they hardly look big enough.
If there is an island with ferry service, I sure would like to know.
Paul Rodgers has a great voice for rock, doesn’t he?
oooooooh texas tornados… nice find
shit.. wish i could remember the name of it….
and thanks for understanding starbuck
Not a problem, just a surprise. It’s a lovely button – matches FDL blue.
So glad the traveling extractionist was skillful. Don’t recall the stitches for my major tooth pulling. Do recall the pain meds :-)
Indeed – more power than Daltrey but he didn’t have Townshend.
I’m putting off the same procedure. Don’t want to part with what God gave me but….
Suze: Adios Mexico.
the play list is virtually unlimited.
Any requests, or should I just wing it?
(three trials in the last week – kinda tired, and should probably try to work in some sleep)
???
Humid today, but getting cooler most days. Few leaves just starting to turn. We have bees, lots of squirrels. Pretty soon I’ll have to watch out for deer.
Thanks. I was in the other room paying only half attention while Wyden was on.
I checked the Oregon Atlas and Gazetteer for islands and only found the one I mentioned.
jayt play whatcha want
sunny – one tooth was broken off below the gum and the gum had grown over it. that is the one that needed stitches. he had to open it up to get to it.
Paul Rodgers, among the best voices in rock.
That’s a great choice up there, Suz.
hey newton – was talking about you upthread :)
Oh, OUCH!
he made sure i was very numbed up sunny. that was no diff than a tooth pull (on my end during the procedure – didn’t feel a thing). recovery is different tho. forking stitches are very irritating.
the eye tooth took the longest. it was next to what are now stitches.
Suze: FREDDY FENDER!
Per Politico today:
Jeeze! I’s getting scarier and scarier! Broken tooth at the gum line.
wasted days and wasted nights
reminds me of my teen years that guy :)
has wyden taken the pledge? i don’t think so – i think he is one of those hedging his bets.
I didn’t have opthalmologic surgery like NDFG (hey newdeal) did, and I was hoping that my experience didn’t run counter to hers.
The drops are a miracle. In a week, I was much better. But you have to do what the doc says, to the letter.
my teeth are forked up by years of no dental visits. i am the poster child for why we need dental care included in basic health insurance.
didn’t have the money to go when i needed to. paying for it now. had only one good tooth left up top per the dentist. the decay spreads from tooth to tooth.
Yeah and Wyden was carried into Congress by the retirees in Oregon.
Some friend.
Suze – My early 20s for me. Flaco Jiminez is the shit, ain’t he?
The amendment Wyden is proposing is a good one, if he’s describing it accurately. It opens up the pool to anyone who wants to buy in instead of using their employer-provided coverage.
Amazing isn’t it? We hafta eat to stay alive, but dental care isn’t covered!
WTF!!!
((ThatGuy)) I have loved Freddy ever since I was little.
that guy:i used to hear flaco on kpig often when i was down there. haven’t heard him other than in utubes since i’ve been up here.
hey cujo – how’s seattle tonight?
ok – adrenaline overload is way over – I’m just plain tired.
(but I’m still the baddest motherfucker in this particular valley) heh.
Carlos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hdi0NGswSAo
Wyden isn’t held in much favor these days in the Portland progressive community.
europa! sweet jayt
Apparently not, as of a week ago.
Pretty nice, actually. Got up into the 80’s today, and I got to enjoy it for a while. Doesn’t get much better.
So I’ve heard. What’s he been doing or failing to do?
yesterday was perfect here cujo – today i sweated while outside so i hastily retreated indoors
I noticed you said it was a lot hotter out on the coast yesterday. Don’t know what’s up with that, usually it’s just the opposite. Anyway, it’s good to enjoy the outdoors as much as we can now. In a couple of months we’ll be back in perpetual gray.
Wow! Thanks. Very nice.
for some reason the walk to the mailbox yesterday didn’t feel as hot as it did today. today, that hot wind was blowing…

Why am I still awake. I am looking for a topic.
on my way out the door….
George Thorogood lullaby:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yV05IH3a4Bg
niters.
P.S. so I lied a bout the lullaby thing – sue me.
Bye.
hey frank – don’t need a topic for late late nite – off topic is the topic.
oh lardy i’ve not heard free in years
g’nite jayt – george can sorta be a lullaby… move it on over could refer to sleeping yanno
OMG – jon stewart’s take on delay’s dancing….
Just to finish this thought. Wyden is saying that the unions don’t like this idea of everyone being able to get to the pool (”exchange” actually is the term they use), because that will draw younger workers away from union health plans, making them insolvent. I don’t know that I buy that, but if it’s true limiting our choices isn’t the way to go about it. Fix the freakin’ union health care programs, or get those people covered under Medicare or Medicaid. Leaving choice to the people who don’t have any health insurance isn’t going to fix things.
I need a topic to take my mind off Tom Delay’s skintight outfit. But I do have this FireDog.
http://fineartamerica.com/feat…..chman.html
there are so many amendments my head is spinning – i can’t keep track of them anymore. thank goodness for the wonks at the lake and sister sites.
You needn’t worry about hearing from my lawyer. Thanks and goodnight.
hahahahahaha nicely played frank – totally not what i was expecting
Just having four different bills is driving me crazy.
Single Payer or Busted…
time to rest…… night Pups….
I’m not up on the details, but my SO is and she isn’t a happy camper. That goes for Blumenauer as well. It involves the Bull Run watershed and the lack of concern on the part of our congressional people to actually take some action. For that matter, our newest Senator, Merkely is also luke warm.
Goodnight, nahant.
Around here we have Adam Smith as a Rep., and Murray and Cantwell. Neither Sen. has been terribly reliable of late, and Smith is reliably DLC. I thought this was the left coast…
East wind doing it’s version of the Santa Ana winds in LA. Sept and Oct are ripe times for fires at the coast.
The weather bureau noted we broke an all time record for the number of 90F+ days in a year, and it ain’t over yet.
g’nite nahant
cujo – why is everyone talking about only the bacus bill? what about help? or the house bill? or that one i can’t remember?
oh – screw it – I can’t sleep – been running on adrenaline and caffeine for bit too long.
Three trials in a week is just plain stupid – but one must make it clear that he ain’t gonna roll over – ever.
In other words, I’m still here – still awake – considering a pot of coffee.
Which reminds me – ’cause I really couldn’t care less – I could really use some help in getting these bags out from under my eyes – and if i have to go the women’s counter – so be it.
Suggestions?
Oh yeah – I almost forgot: Gary Moore:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4O_YMLDvvnw
To make matters worse, at least two city councilors have the folks pissed, Adams, the mayor has a recall petition out, but Leonard, damn, he’s in bed with Paulson’s son, over Soccer. Spend big bucks to renovate a stadium recently renovated, then raise our water rates to pay for a water treatment plant not needed.
Thoroughly fucked, imo.
jayt – sliced cucumbers (cool from the fridge) helps. if ya go to the cosmestic counter look for anti puffy on the label. not a concealer. that is for dark circles.
thanks – I look awful – but I fought like all kinds of hell, and that sort of word gets around, especially when you win.
Lessee – need a new song = be right back.
3 trials in one week is way too many jayt. holy moly that’s insane dood
Good question. I doubt it’s coincidence. We haven’t heard anything much about the FDL health care pledge lately, either, and that had to do with the House, too. Guess we’ll find out when it hits us, right?
Ah, on a different subject, earlier this moth I spent several days touring and photographing SE Oregon, including two days on top of Steens Mountain, just under 10,000′. Here’s the weird part. I am in a supposed wilderness, if not by name at least by location, and I spy, off in the distance, antenna towers! So I whip out my assumed dead cell phone and I got full bars! It was fun calling my SO who was at the beach at that point from Steens Mountain. But somewhat disturbing as well.
Steens is a mountain that gradually rises, over many miles, from the valley floor only to abruptly fall off to the Alvord desert. And I mean fall off! 5000′ in a very short distance. I was attempting to photograph the chasm at sunset, with a stiff wind trying to blow me off the edge into the abyss. That was fun!
44 years ago, I visited and photographed the same place, and comparing the photos, the only change was that the Alvord is coming under irrigation. A big green circle lies in the middle of the desert.
Hum!
Dangit, he pops in and out while I’m outside…! Sheesh… Btw, Suz it’s a gorgeous sky out tonite… I can see the milky part of the Milky Way vividly…! ;-)
Well, at least you have a new stadium. ;)
It’s crazy. Seattle’s mayor, whom I’m not very fond of for many reasons, finally showed a little courage and showed the local NBA team the door when they wanted another renovation of their recently-renovated arena. He just lost the primary for re-election. People were congratulating themselves, because they think they’ll get a new basketball team. With all the problems Seattle has right now with transportation and growth, these guys are worried about a frickin’ basketball team.
Some people actually do get the government they deserve.
the pledge was just for the house… but that blago appointed senator took it. don’t know if that was a shadow of things to come or an anomoly cujo.
calendar week.
there was a weekend involved.
I think. The days, they do tend to blend together.
It’s important. You get a rep for rolling over, and just taking whatever plea is offered – you’re branded.
As long as they’re afraid of me – it’s good – and I’ll sleep eventually.
In the meantime – I’ve always enjoyed this one-hit wonder, and woulda lost a bundle if someone had bet me that I wasn’t listening to Todd Rundgren:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91WgM6dNLTE
sounds lovely ct – the moon sat shortly after sunset. i’m gonna have to walk outside tonight and check out the sky. i usually get a forking awesome milky way out here – very little light polution.
got links to the pics?
Just about any high point these days, you’ll find antennas on them. Up there I’d bet they’re solar powered.
Don’t have it yet, and so far no more action on it. They tried to foist it off on what they assumed a hapless neighborhood, but the mouse roared back and Paulson was sent skedaddling out of sight. So now they want to renovate PGE Park.
I remember that brouhaha over the Sonics, Cujo. Where did they wind up, or did they fold?
Basically, Suz, Baucus’s abomination is the only vehicle wending it’s way thru the Senate… Gotta get those 60 votes, ya know…! Which is truly hogwash, but, that’s the way Reid and co. have squandered(capitulated?) their ability to pass meaningful legislation…!
i hate that all run together feeling. my fri, sat, and sun were like that this week – of course vicodin might have had something to do with it
Way too many. I’m an out of control photographer! In 1965, I spent 4 days up there and took maybe 2 dozen shots. This time, hundreds!
i’ve got quite a collection of my own just this past year starbuck.
I thought to drive up the dirt road leading to the site but didn’t I didn’t see any solar arrays either, but there’s is a couple of buildings there much larger than at any other cell site. From the arrays I noted, seems it’s more than simply cell towers.
Compare notes sometime?
Ooops! Clicked the wrong reply. Meant to click you, Suz!
…of course vicodin might have had something to do with it.
Smooth:

laughing – been there done that starbuck
i’ve got so many photos of the view from the deck that my eyes start to glaze over.
i’m thinking of maybe getting a web cam and live feeding a still every x minutes to my blog. like those weather bug cameras do.
sweet. that’s a smooth song indeed – aptly named even
i have a feeling that it would not have been smooth at all without the wonders of big pharma’s researchers.
I’m sitting here suddely with this deja vu feeling, and what I come up with is that when I was a teenager, I was a ham radio operator. I would sit up way past midnight tapping out Morse code to anyone and everyone who would listen. A precursor to the Internet, as at that time of night, I had the whole world at my key.
Now, almost 60 years later, I am at it again except I don’t need transmitters, antennas, receivers and all that stuff.
But wait! I have a computer!
Nothing new under the sun, is there!
Oklahoma City, IIRC. Not that I was all that interested.
As you can tell, neither am I.
the more things change the more they stay the same
Might be microwave relays. They still have those some places. Or stuff I don’t know anything about. Never kept up with the EM side of things like I should have.
He always finds a way, doesn’t he? He’s our miracle man.
Starting to fade, and since I have to pack up and get out tomorrow, I bid you all adieu, hasta la vista, TTFN, etc till next we meet.
Nite, all!
g’nite starbuck enjoy your trip
No, there are not microwave, at least from a distance they didn’t resemble them.
What part of 51 votes to pass any legislation in the Senate does Reid fail to grasp…? If the Repugs want to filibuster… Make ‘Em…! What’s the prob…? ;-)
Goodnight, Starbuck.
sorry pups – starting to fade myself.
and i realized i forgot to commend ya’ll on the pirate thread sat nite. you carried on in my absence admirably. thank you.
g’nite all
Aloha, Suz…! And Starbuck… 8-)
At times like these, I wish I understood Senate rules better. There’s some official reason why reconciliation is harder – has to do with budget rules. Still, I’d just as soon they show the Republicans actually blocking legislation rather than just letting them do the pinky wave and putting things off for the weekend. A few rounds of actual filibustering and I think the public would get the point.
Goodnight, Suzanne.
Roger! That’s also why Baucus’s bill, containing no P.O., is the one the Repugs and Bluedogs are forcing thru the Senate… Pelosi will have a harder time to ‘reconcile’ the P.O. into the bill… Bastards….!
Kinda makes sense to me, given that they’re hypocritical assholes who don’t care if half of America can’t see a doctor when they’re sick.
It’s time for me to head out into the real world. Goodnight, CTuttle, and whoever else is left.
