Actually, he got in trouble for not having a child with his brother’s wife, which was the law and custom in Israel at the time, rather than for spilling his seed on a rock. That’s a very common and completely incorrect misconception- but it’s so common that it’s small wonder that it’s shown up here.

Never trust a Southerner on what the Bible says. They ignore the parts of it they don’t like- for instance, the bit on God creating both man AND woman in God’s own image.

That Southern conservatives are some of the biggest consumers of porn should come as no surprise. They have consistently been among the most narrow minded and hypocritical in nearly every facet of our society. For generations they have loudly thumped their Bibles on Sunday while the rest of the week they supported segregation, lynchings, Jim Crow, and before that slavery. These folks are ignorant moralizers who engage not in religion, but tribalism.

These misanthropic buffoons should be ostracized and mocked continuously.

It almost makes one think that, if conservatives were to disappear, they would actually achieve their own stated goals. Less porn, less violence, less… well, everything, really.

Again, I think we on the Left would hate the Right a lot less if it actually lived up to its own values.

Yes. There’s one strain of ancient Freudian “deviant” psychology that views homosexuality as narcissism. The logic goes “you love yourself…member of the same sex is like you…ergo you are having sex with yourself”.

Of course, the logical extension of this is that people who select mating partners from the same social class, ethnicity, religion, politics, nationality, etc. are also basically “finding themselves” in their lover. Narcississism.

Presumably one should have sex with rocks.

But that’s where this nonsense comes from. Ignore for the moment that some gays find partners that are vastly different from themselves in personality or background. That some of the so-called “self love” is the result of societal denial of recognizing long-term partnerships and adoption and parenthood. So , in reality these X’tian fanatics are forcing narcissism on people by alienating them from normal social relationships that they want to have.

I don’t know if anyone saw TV this AM, I was alerted by someone who knows the the couple that WalMart turned in for child porn b/c of photos of their children in the bathtub.

Another reason to boycott WalMart. This couple was investigated by the Ariz. children’s authority, children removed from home, she was let go as a teacher, they were listed as sex offenders, they have had $50K in lawyer fees to get their children back (now in therapy) and try to clear their names as the result of a WalMart employee turning them in for baby pictures.

Heh! Just thinking of how “porn turns you gay,” one of the anti-porn feminists was debating some of the fellows on her campus back when she went to college about how ponr was bad for women. The gays on campus responded that as their porno didn’t even feature women, her theories were irrelevant to them. She responded back that, oh no, as gay performers performed in the role of women (Defined as submissive), that meant that even gay porno harmed women.
As one could guess, anti-porn feminism was a complete bust. Like the arch-conservatives, their ideas on sexuality were a bit weird.
