Thanks, Elliott.
All the extremist rage on my teebee this a.m.? from Frank Rich at NYT op-eds, equal opportunity bedwetting; ‘The old G.O.P. Southern strategy is gone with the wind. The more the party is identified with nasty name-calling, freak-show protestors, immigrant-bashing (the proximate cause of Wilson’s outburst at Obama) and, yes, racism, the faster it will commit demographic suicide as America becomes ever younger and more diverse.’
We had this talk yesterday at the book discussion chat with Mat Blumenthal that watertiger brought on. I like Max’s prediction that the corporate and the crazee wings are going to have a blow-up.
Listening to Tweety, with panel, especially Bobo, bleating it’s killing the Thuglican party – the Leaders won’t stand up to Rush and Beck, sounds a lot like Max Blumenthal yesterday, but Helene Cooper won’t let them deny that there’s a bunch of racism involved.
Chris Matthews (Tweety) and panel conclude that the libruls are going to let go of the public option and pass a meaningless bill, and Brooks(Bobo) predicts that then we will take out our frustration on health care by ending the war in Afghanistan. I am not kidding.
Morning all and thanks Elliott. Hmmmm who is going to be on today?
That is unbelievable. As Barney Frank would say “on what planet do they spend most of their time?”
Mars. Taking out frustration by getting Out Of war is Bobo’s way of glorifyng the mess the Village has made of this country this morning, I guess.
Morning. I don’t get Univision here but I’d love to see how Boehner does.
Good morning, pups. Mr. Kristof is off today, so it’s MoDo, The Moustache of Wisdom and Mr. Rich. MoDo is channeling the Pasty Little Putz and has barfed up “Blue is the New Black,” in which she whines that studies show women are getting gloomier and men are getting happier. Did the feminist revolution end up benefiting men more than women? Kee-ripes… The Moustache of Wisdom says “Real Men Tax Gas,” and that there is something wrong when our country is considering sending more troops to Afghanistan, but can’t even talk about a gasoline tax to reduce our dependency on oil. Geez, ya think so? Some of us have been howling that for 8 years now. Mr. Rich says “Even Glenn Beck is Right Twice a Day,” and that President Obama — and our political system — are being tested by a populist rage that is no less real for being shouted by a demagogue from Fox.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got French toast made from challah with a hint of cinnamon. I’m off to catch up on work that I’ve been falling behind on, and to do other exciting things like laundry. Have a great day.
I prefer Howard Dean’s prediction. Public Option through reconciliation.
Indeed, we can still hope the people’s reps will wise up and do the right thing. These are the people who were predicting candidate Obama was going to lose, too, though, so I suspect we can safely expect them to be wrong again.
Over at HuffPo I read that stay-at-home moms are being forced to go to work. I find that very sad. I was a stay-at-home mom for 13yrs then part time for another 6. It was our choice and I wouldn’t have changed it for anything.
But everyone knows Dean is not a “serious or thoughtful” person, so we can ignore his words.
In fact, isn’t he crazy?
Pampered and Priviledged Georgie Stephanopolus’s panel has 3 conservatives and two liberals. That’s balanced. They could have made it much easier. Drop Brazille and Reich and let Bernie Sanders sit in for the “liberal” side. He’d mop the floor with these con clowns but then America might begin to see what a joke these cons really are.
Good morning everybody
Sunny and cold here, crisp is the word.
Stephen Moore was on Washington Journal. He’ss on the editorial board of the WSJ, a real brain trust these days. I wonder if he’s ever been right about anything, from the WSJ website:
yeah let’s follow his advice.
Always appreciate your reports on Tweety, doesn’t come on here until later — good to heads up on the tidbits.
Bobo’s from BubbleWorld
Same here. Can’t wait to hear how he does going in with that attitude.
Bernie Sanders and Barney Frank, either one would be equal of all the right wing combined; it would be worth everyone’s time to watch.
Thanks, it’s like watching a trainwreck, sometimes. As you point out, following the advice of these pundits who’ve been completely wrong would be the definition of insanity, expecting different results from doing the same thing…and I just watched Moore tell WashJournal that more tax cuts for business would solve our economic crisis. Just as amazingly,he gets paid for that.
Good morning everyone.
Thanks Elliott. Might have to read a book instead of talking heads today. But if the fog clears, it’s a nice bicycle ride for me.
Marion: my one-liner on Friedman is: he has a moderate command of the obvious. The only reason I’m so polite is that I’m usually using it against a person I like but who is enthralled with Friedman and I don’t want to piss the person off. So I use damning with faint praise.
Seems like an email to WJ is in order: Why don’t you invite guests who have been right?
crossing my fingers
Smgumby!
classic example of what is wrong with MSM reporting.
g’morning DOGS!!!
I am live blogging my panera breakfast on this incredible Sunday, sun is out, wind does not exist and temps are crisp
today I’m having a sausage egg and cheese muffin minus teh muffin (Atkins) and yum
I also tried (finally) their Cinnamon brewed coffee and it’s not bad though I usually run from flavored coffee the crisp morning air made me do it.
now for some real news!
I am trying to organize a REAL tea party!!!..would be nice to actually have it in Boston but wherever we can get it going is fine with me, have a read over at my room in the seminal;
Let’s have a REAL tea party!
Hope to see you there, maybe we can make that happen
when you go to the diary please do read especially the second link I post, it’s pretty good stuff from my favorite constitutional historian, thom hartmann
Bubble Math
3Rs = 2 D’s
Just watched Chris Wallace team up with Darrell Issa to try to make Bertha Lewis cry.
Didn’t work tho, she had a hard time getting an answer out tho, interrupted a lot.
yeah
and cap and trade will send all our jobs to China and India
Stephen – Hello?!?! Where have you been lo these many years?
Lately they’ve been featuring the right, not those who have been right.
Partay!
I’ve always suspected that Brian Lamb is a wingnut, but he knows how to hide it.
Good morning. I’m mulling a solution to healthcare. We export our “envy of the world” private health insurance (the actual insurance, not the jobs) to Canada and Mexico, and use the profits from the resulting favorable trade balance to finance Medicare for all in the U.S.. I’m still working out a few pesky details, but it ought to satisfy just about everyone. /s
Stephen – Hello?!?! Where have you been lo these many years?
Playing Charon, on the barge to Hades for the economy.
partay like it’s December 23, 1774!!!!!!
yayyyy!!!!!
Yeah
and he’s not around so much anymore
I think Steve Scully has more to do with day to day stuff, I could be wrong but that’s my impression. Lamb worked harder at balance imo
The NYT sez that the 3 men arrested in the terror plot were arrested for lying about it, not for terrorism. Typical of the f’d up war on terror. Can’t find any real terrorists so trick them into lying and then arrest them. (Actually all the other “terrorism” cases were hoked up by the FBI.)
The same Brian Lamb, who on the prez profiles gave the same one hour to Herbert Hoover as he gave to FDR? Now there’s balance for you.
oo good start
We have the greatest system in the world!!1!!!
We are No.!!
(aren’t we?)
mornin’ all.
I just discovered that I can’t watch Nooners – even with the sound muted.
If George Will gets a seat every week at George Stephy’s Roundtable – so should Katrina V.
Grounds for impeachment, as I recall.
No. 37, but let’s not quibble.
The similarity did not escape me.
The Fox News AllStars panel is devoting itself to whining about being snubbed by Obama
It’s to laugh
yeah anyway
except she actually thinks.
If “Cadillac plans” include transportation for doctor appointments, we may even be able to include England, France, and others. The minor problem I can’t yet work out is that most of these countries could abolish their socialist systems and establish a private one of their own, if they really wanted it. Maybe we can sign some treaties that trick them into giving up their right to establish one like ours.
BTW, ditto for Scooter Libby.
How does Peggy Noonan keep showing up on these panels? I don’t care if you are Right, Left or in the middle, she is horrible. She spews nothing but “magical thinking’ nonsense.
Of course, the entire “This Week” panel is a Right leaning waste of time.
George Will gets a seat immediately to the right of Stepacopolis and always gets the first word and often the last word.
Would it mollify them if we all showed up and pissed on them?
except she actually thinks.
and she *always* gets the best of Will, and pisses Himself off mightily, which is great fun to watch.
To be fair, it takes a special kind of stupid to *not* be able to out-argue George Will – I just like Katrina’s style while she does it. *g*
c and elle is has a good piece linking to another great piece
it documents the conspiracy to kill health care as founded by the tobacco industry
must see/read tubeulation
The legal punishment for treason – pretty extreme – would properly go to those giving him the order to expose an agent acting for the U.S. under cover.
Is anyone punished for an underlying crime any more? Or is it all just the coverup and plea bargains? The so-called legal system has become a farce.
Fog has lifted. Coffee’s gone. I’m off.
Fog has lifted – wish we could say that for DC
I am hoping that when finally the appointments being held up in the Senate are passed and the administration actually set up, the DoJ will begin returning us to a nation of laws.
I’ve always wondered what would happen if one of the targets of the screamers would just stop talking whenever the screamer interrupted, with a faint smile. If there was silence, then try again.
She’s full of all kinds of great thoughts
I agree. If they had held the treasonous crooks involved in Iran Contra – as just one example — the world would be in a better place now
would be a good strategy.
heads would explode
I think it would be good to get up and walk off.
The court system is not for the plutocrats. Just the little people.
I can see that. II think there are liberals who absolutely need public health insurance. We are dying out here. If Obama doesn’t get us cheaper, better health care we will never forget. then, there are the upper income Democrats with great insurance. They’ll be back to singing Obama’s praises if he ends the war, no matter if he does sign Romney Care into law.
