Finally.

You know, reality must feel like it’s been hitting someone over the head with a two-by-four just to get their attention recently.

Okay, thanks. I would agree that the 80’s marked a real turning point, but I’m not sure the damage is any more severe than what we faced in the 30’s 40’s 50’s and 60’s respectively. I’m just leery of any nostalgia for the decades that created some of the most difficult problems we struggle with today. The military/industrial complex comes to mind.

Between(roughly) 1930-1970 was probably the best stretch. true its not possible to say we were all together “right” then, but perception is relative, and from 1980 - 2009 you gotta own, our nation is terribly wrong. more wrong than its been since the bad old days approx 1784 - 1919..im giving the 20’s a pass cuz you have to give art some credit.

“Our nation has gone terribly wrong…”

I’ll bite, just for some sort of baseline, at what point do you think were we terribly right, or at least acceptably so?

It seems like Obama is doing his best work in foreign policy, though not all of it (the wars, indefinite detention, etc.) His response to the Iranian protests was pitch perfect, his moves towards nuclear disarmament were encouraging, and this latest move to stop the idiotic missile defense plan are how his presidency is wildly different than the would-be McCain presidency.

The 1st Part of the Bush deal with the Poles was that Poland would buy the offsets for the F-16, supply troops for the “Coalition of the Willing” and in return get the military bases and [this is a big one] the Visa requirements for Poles in the US would be dropped. Kwasnieswski negotiated the deal (not Kaczynski). Poland is the only EU country whose citizens must get a visa to visit the US. It was a huge part of the deal, and Bush never had any intention of honoring that part, dead soldiers and all.

All I’m trying to say is, the Progressives NEED to set up a “Hawk Division”. An expert(s) in the field but a progressive at heart, that is specifically set up to go into action the minute an important development like this develops. That somebody(s) would have to have good msm contacts at CNN, MSNBC, ABC

WOW! How ye have little faith?! First thing I wanna say is THANK YOU HILLARY!!
Second thing is, we need to get the Cheney-installed Netanyahu out of office.
Doesn’t anyone ever remember how Arafat mysteriously died? (suspicion he was poisoned) and Israel’s Sharon, UP and had a stroke OUT OF NO WHERE? (like, a month between occurrences when W. and Cheney were in office?) It was all part of evil’s web that was being weaved.

The most important thing that needs to happen now, and if you go to drudges website you will see, the Hawks are painting Obama as leaving us open to an attack. THIS NEEDS TO BE COUNTER-SPUN IMMEDIATELY!

Before the MSM gets ahold of it and starts running with the ball!!

A counter attack might be….we must reduce our military budget ($500 billion a year and counting) which is the highest in the WHOLE FRIGGEN WORLD and of the TOP 8 industrial nations COMBINED! Our deficit is huge which will burden our children and grandchildren. Iran poses no current threat. The IAEA has verified that. Remember the IAEA? They were the ones that were right about no WMD in Iraq? This was all a part of the BUSH Administrations rush to war which included IRAN. This whole deal needs to be neutered, like, now.

BMAZ if you’re around, what do you think?

How do the progressives counter this simultaneously, while fighting on the health care front? Is there a progressive HAWK or PAC or group, that we can hand the ball off to, that can start spinning this now? The way it needs to be spun?

It has always been the lot of Poland to wind up with the fuzzy end of the lollipop in every accord reached with western powers. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

This entails on balance no change in aggressive behavior on the part of the U.S. It’s just more brinksmanship and belligerence on the part of the U.S. and her client state in the Levant against the enemy du jour, Iran. And apparently Israel will contract to supply anti-missile missile weapons to countries in the eastern frontier of Europe, such as Poland.
