The Right is going to enjoy this, and they already have their answer. You see, to the hard right, Bush wasn’t a real conservative, and this just proves it: he dared to insult Saint Sarah, the keeper of the flame. Conservatism cannot fail, it can only be failed by those, like Bush, who depart from the straight and narrow. No amount of screwing up by Republicans can ever undermine the faith of the true believers.

I’m sure that Dubya meant the Guam comment as a total compliment. After all, isn’t Guam the “model” for the type of Capitalism the Republicans want to extend to the whole country? No unions, workers in barracks, no minimum wage, women forced into prostitution, the workers can’t vote, etc.

I find it hard to give a shit about evolution these days

It’s not that it’s about evolution per se; it’s about the struggle Darwin himself had to go through, as he did not want to believe it. His family and friends did not want to believe it. Seems to be an opportunity for a teachable moment in the drama, as our benighted age could use one.
