We are rapidly becoming a 3rd world country as far as education goes. 1 out of 3 kids who start HS fail to graduate. People who are supposed to be informed adults parade their ignorance with pride. WTF has happened to my country? I have been telling my kids for years that they should move to Canada. or Korea, they all have dual citizenship there. Every country in the world is racing past the US while we sit here in our little puddle of ignorance and claim that we are the best in the world. There have been court cases in Brazil and Germany where US citizen fathers have tried to get back their kids after the mother died. The courts in those 2 countries refused to allow the fathers to get custody claiming that US murder rate and gun crimes along with bad schools and the general ignorance of the population left them no choice.
I am bewildered, befuddled and all the other words. I do not understand what is happening. Why have the schools gotten so bad? What will we do with 1/3 of adults without even a HS diploma? Who can do the jobs? What kind of jobs can the ignorant do? Why are people reveling in their ignorance? Why are people so convinced that lies-like where Medicare comes from, Obamas birth and faith, and idiotic lies like “death panels”-like these are true and when presented with the truth, call it a lie?
The phrase “Keep the govt hands off my medicare” has been heard thousands of times, when informed that Medicare is a govt program, they refuse to believe it. I have even heard some say that the govt has nothing to do with Social Security. And they believe it. Has this country always been filled with ignorant fools or is this something new? We are indeed a nation of idiot sheeple, even those who we assumed-falsely-were adults who actually knew what was going on proved to be false. CEOs run their companies into the ground, investment bankers and bankers generally buy into the mortgage investment craze and lose trillions of $$$. And they are supposed to be the smart ones. TV has destroyed us, processed food is killing us. The corporations and cartels own the govt and our elected officials are totally corrupt. While there is a grain of truth among all the lies floating around idiot nation, the truthers,birthers, and 912ers will never see it because they are all corporate pawns. We are fast becoming the new africa. Full of tribes all ready to fight each other to the death, full of ignorance, demanding that the govt take care of us while at the same time screaming at the govt to leave us alone. The more I see, the more angry I get at how we have so squandered our future and the future of our grandchildren. Our country crumbles around us, more illegal drugs with more money to bribe our cops and pols, yet we still scream about how high our taxes are. We have mortgaged our future to China. We have sent our factories out of the US. We make little or nothing and import cheap goods from all over the world. We owe thousands on our credit cards, yet continue to charge like lunatics. We will do nothing to correct the problems that created our latest financial downfall because we lack the political will. The next crash will come within the next 20-30 years and the next time the world might just get together and tell the US enough. We pollute our country, throw away more garbage than the rest of the world, use up our country and are still arrogent enough to think that the rest of the world looks up to us. Meanwhile, most people think that New Mexico is not part of the US. Watch Lenos man on the street interviews and see just how stupid we are. More watch American Idol than vote. More pay close attention to sports than to govt. How many really know who their senators and reps are? How about state senator and rep? City council? Mayor? Gov? School board? In the last off year election, with almost 1 million registered voters in my city, less than 1% voted. Even tho we have almost 2 weeks of early voting.

The Right is going to enjoy this, and they already have their answer. You see, to the hard right, Bush wasn’t a real conservative, and this just proves it: he dared to insult Saint Sarah, the keeper of the flame. Conservatism cannot fail, it can only be failed by those, like Bush, who depart from the straight and narrow. No amount of screwing up by Republicans can ever undermine the faith of the true believers.
