Voters understand that our economic challenges hardly started with George W. Bush, and that at some point the administration has to stop blaming the last guy in the Oval Office and start providing real solutions.
Guess it’s not "some point" yet.
And there’s more bad news for the GOP.
ABC News recently polled the question,
Overall, which party — the Democrats or the Republicans — do you trust to do a better job in coping with the main problems the nation faces over the next few years?
The result: Democrats 48%, Republicans 28%. And that’s a 2-point drop for the GOP on that question since February.
Keep it up, Teabaggers.

well.. if our president and Congress sell America to Big Medicine then will be able to blame that on the last president too? The WH and Dem Congressional leadership should give that thought some consideration.
It’s not these 48% and 28% that I’m afraid of, it’s the lingering 24% in the shadows who are the real problem.
I am sure our numbers were higher before. I’m also sure that John McCain got more than 28% of the vote and he was not the most alive/inspiring candidate.
For us to get 48% and the GOP to get 28% that suggests that neither party is picking up the other parties defectors it also suggests a third party might be in the making, a third party mostly made up of GOPers.
Will Sarah or Ron Paul defect from the GOP next election if they don’t get the GOP nomination will they take Rush, and the tea baggers with them?
If the GOP splits or heck if just some of them stay home because Sarah didn’t get the nomination we will clean up next election we will win much bigger than we just did.
We have the crazy and the ineffective, the Republicans and the Democrats respectively. Both appear equally bought however.
That’s amazing. It’s not like the D’s have been hot at governing these last few months. The Repugs are just stark raving mad.
That’s the best reason to explain why they thought it would be ok to have Decider Bush lead their Party for the last eight years.
28% plus 24% = 52% the odds of the GOP getting all those 24% in three years? Not likely the economy would still have to suck we would have high unemployment, no healthcare and still be fighting 2 wars.
In other words we would have to fail and Rahm and the GOP would have to win across the board on every fight.
That is good considering Bush was the one in office while his party was in the majority for several of the 8 years. Dems were locked out of governing alltogether. We didn’t get here in the last 8 months. As much as the insane clown posse would like the country to believe it is so. Cognitive dissonance must be bliss.
When your numbers are that low a 2 point drop is amazing:)
And, why wouldn’t we blame him and his phony war and his cronie tax cuts. I know, he’s proud.
Yes, it allows one to believe that Reagan was a Saint.
Great. Bush 43 sucks.
Obama is innocent.
And then they tried to elect Palin, Bush redux.
The reason they are selling out is to satisfy some republic wet dream. Not that it’s an excuse but they wont put the public option in because of republics.
Yep, you’re about right.
He is not Left enough but don’t worry we are working on that:) Its when Obama goes Weak/Right on us is when he makes mistakes.
Why are people voting this way what are the underlying reasons?
Meanwhile, Dems continue to believe they are “locked out”. It must be some kind of hostage syndrome.
because they comprise a collection of the bribed and the cowardly.
AND THE KILLIN GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Blue Texan and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
These numbers leveraged against the 65-70% who want a public option should make it clear to Obama that he can play hard ball with his own caucus particularly in the Senate…the numbers are there for reconcilliation and Obama’s got enough political capital to make offers they can’t refuse to ANY Democrat in the Senate.
If Obama doesn’t get a strong public option that makes health reform work then his presidency is dead and it should be.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE FUCKIN’ AMMUNITION, THE STRUGGLE GOES ON AND ON AND…!!!
Hey things, I couldn’t find the original article I read. Apologies. But you might find this one interesting.
Retirees make a Run for the Border
Always good to remember that despite the Obama stimulus, etc. Bush is still mostly responsible for the size of the deficits.

The GOP is going to win the next election big Meme the Right Wing Media and Polls have been pushing how do they explain the GOP not picking up dissatisfied Dems?
How do they explain the GOP losing more people losing people John McCain carried? John as I’ve said before was not the most inspiring Presidential Candidate.
48% vs 28% the voters trust us more so just what twisted logic are the GOP polling hacks using to justify the GOP is going to win big the next election Meme?
More amazing *cough* facts pulled out their Ass?
I agree. If he can’t deliver when he’s holding all the aces, then bye bye.
Responsibility for deficits: NYT chart:

Right — that’s what I found interesting. The GOP continues to get less popular. Obama and the Dems might be slipping, but the GOP is, too. And that’s after losing 2 straight elections.
Yeah and I want to pay the same for drugs as they do in Canada and Mexico!
The other 35% are birthers, baggers, deathers and Republicans. The ones holding the country back from moving into the 21st Century.
That is interesting I have no theories on that (and I know I annoy people by having theories on everything)
Everything the GOP has done since Obama won the Nomination has been to pander to their hate filled 20%er base at the expense of Moderate Voters.
So how do they now lose people McCain carried what else does their base want? What else will the GOP have to do to please their base?
OT, but I’m outraged and I had to rant about rethug racism. In that murder investigation in CT, the rightyblogs started last night baselessly publishing foreign-sounding names of the victim’s colleagues as suspects, even suggesting links to international terror – and effectively destroying the reputations and possibly the security clearances and careers of totally innocent people (which will be on the Internet as alleged suspects forever). Now that the police have announced the (very Caucasian) name of a real suspect, this is the sort of drivel the rightyblogs are posting:
“Yeah, I did insist it was a [racial epithet] all last night. Now that the suspect is revealed as “Raymond Clark” we have good reason to believe that it wasn’t a [racial epithet]. But who knows. Case isn’t over, it still could be a [racial epithet].”
These people are monsters. Rethugs are sub-human.
The corporate media will do all they can to insure a Republican victory in 2010. With very few exceptions the corporate media is a cancer on the body politic.
Good Read thanks you can’t use medicare in another country? That seems like something Obama could fix that might be popular with older voters. I think you might have found us a new issue.
“Real Solutions”, we can dream about them now that Paulson stole $700 Billion based on fraud. Chimpie had some problems with that such as he did not understand the Paulson scam. He did have a good idea about bad assets, buy low and sell high. But Hank had other plans, such as enriching Goldman Sachs. Simply buy high and sell low, with other people’s money, ours. The “markets” needed the money! Of course, I need some money too, and some chicks for free!
Chimpie asks the eternal question. Why? Why? Why don’t I understand this?
But “This Cat” Obama has no clue. Was Chimpie qualified or not? Chimpie thinks Chimpie was.
I find it remarkably refreshing that, in light of the constant attention the teabaggers have gotten, a very large plurality still understands the source of most of the financial issues can be identified as W with a large assist from the Rethugs.
The media can sell whatever they want that does mean we will buy it. After failing to sell John McCain the Media should be doing some soul searching ad campaigns can’t sell dog food the dogs don’t like.
Bingo!

We Can’t Afford the MaxTax
Thanks BT, good news people are paying attention but lets put the blame squarely on the point.
We need to honestly frame the blame. Bush actually did a good job of ramming the conservative agenda through the House and Senate. And that is what crippled the economy, enhanced global warming, increase terrorism, etc. Fox News and the Repukes always blame the Democrat’s so lets be real clear about this. Sooo…..
Bush’s failed CONSERVATIVE agenda is to blame for the Great Recession!
Bush’s failed REPUBLICAN agenda is to blame for the Great Recession!
Bush’s failed REPUBLICAN CONSERVATIVE agenda is to blame for the Great Recession!
yes. my frustration about teabaggers is that I actually empathize with their frustration. But they have misdirected their anger at the wrong target. They’re so mad, they literally are not thinking straight.
My personal wingnut is on fire about all the “powergrabbing” Obama is doing!!! If I had a chance to get a word in, it would be “if you think he’s bad, wait till you learn what all Bush did!”
Bwahahaha! Thanks I needed a laugh:)
I’m done with empathizing with racist anti-democratic, authoritarian brown shirts. Sure.. I can see why people are frustrated. But so were German thugs in 1928. And so were the ethnic rioters in Gujarat in 2001. And so were McVeigh and Nicholls. They’re still dangerous, and they’re still evil.
Thomas Edsall, Huffington Post columnist wrote, Populist Anger Can Save the GOP.
Now, I’ve been following politics for a good number of years and one thing for sure is that the political landscape can change almost overnight.
Populist anger, of course, presumes a groundswell of support for the GOP message: Obama hatred, racism, xenophobia and unbridled fear are the driving forces behind such a presumption.
Rush Limbaugh’s cult of “I want Obama to fail” dittoheads, birthers, tea baggers and Palinphiles will question any Republican candidate’s qualifications unless his/her commitment in expressing hatred for Barack Obama is sufficient enough.
GOP candidate X: “Let me assure you, I want Barack Obama to fail with all my heart. As a true believer, I pray each night that everything he does to help ordinary American people will fail and I oppose Obama right down the line. I don’t even need to know the issue at hand to tell you that my hatred is deep and abiding enough and, that as a true Republican, my hatred for Obama cannot be equaled by any of my rivals.”
One wonders if that level of Hate Obama is sufficient to get the endorsements of the Hate Obama voters or will the GOP need more time to spread even more venom and animosity toward Barack Ob

And If You Talk About The Evil That The Government Does, The Patriot Act’ll Track You To The Type Of Your Blood
Any sensible person watching the GOP inplode would not want to be part of that situation. Watching the Republican party leaders out in that hate-fest this weekend should be enough to scare away most independents and moderate Republicans.
