What a turnout! … But I gotta say, if there were that many people all converging on DC, wouldn’t there be all sorts of stories about transportation delays, snarls in the hubs, and so forth? Obama’s inauguration had about 1.8 million, and that was a logistical nightmare! How on earth could they have gotten far, far more than that without massive disruptions that would, obviously, have been news events in and of themselves?

Conservative activists, who organized a march on the U.S. Capitol today in protest of the Obama administration’s health care agenda and government spending, erroneously attributed reports on the size of the crowds to ABC News.
Matt Kibbe, president of FreedomWorks, the group that organized the event, said on stage at the rally that ABC News was reporting that 1 million to 1.5 million people were in attendance.
ILLE. FreedomWorks, eh? Gosh, this sure gives me reason to doubt someone associated with them won’t at some point be doing time for filing a false bomb report, which I think is a felony…

The group on down near the Wshington monument beyond the grassy break is the Black Family Picnic. Don’t be confused, there were two events on the Mall…and there is no way the 9/l2′ers would’ve been allowed to displace the other group, which had temporary structures and a stage for music.

Haven’t had a chance to read through all 169 comments, but what I read through, I didn’t see anyone say where the 2 million figure came from.
It came from the Daily Mail, or at least that is where I saw it. They didn’t attribute it to a person and seemed to represent it as the reporter’s estimate.
I thought it was off when I read it.
It got posted on Drudge, and that is likely where others got the figure, and then cited it.
But, here is a bigger issue. You can say these people are assholes, stupid, idiots, dumb shits, etc. BUT, with an actual power equivilant to a poker hand of a pair of two’s, they’ve been beating you up and down the street on this issue.
You might do better and have better success for your cause by stopping underestimating them and trying another tactic because that hasn’t been working.
One of the speakers up on the stage made a “Woodstockian” sort of announcement…lying that he got it from ABC. I suspect the Daily Mail and other Conserv a tive pipe- organs picked it up.
“Legitimate Movements” don’t need to exaggerate their importance by telling easily refuted lies that are off by about 1,999,930 people.
