Nothing brings out the right-wing crazies quite like 9/11. And few are crazier than Ralph Peters.
We resolved that we, the People, would never forget. Then we forgot.
We’ve learned nothing.
Instead of cracking down on Islamist extremism, we’ve excused it.
Instead of killing terrorists, we free them.
Instead of relentlessly hunting Islamist madmen, we seek to appease them.
Since Peters doesn’t consider "cracking down" bombing, invading and occupying two countries while regularly firing missiles into a third, continually waging hot wars in said countries for the better part of a decade, building a network of secret CIA interrogation sites around the globe, abandoning our laws and values by illegally detaining, torturing and killing enemy prisoners in military bases, reconfiguring the entire domestic security apparatus of the United States — all at a cost of 50,000 American casualties, including over 4,000 dead, hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis and Afghanistanis and trillions of dollars– you really wonder what qualifies.
ITS NOT ENOUGH!!1! WEVE GOTTA TAKE THE GLOVES OFF M*****F***ERS!11!!1!
Instead of acknowledging that radical Islam is the problem, we elected a president who blames America, whose idea of freedom is the right for women to suffer in silence behind a veil — and who counts among his mentors and friends those who damn our country or believe that our own government staged the tragedy of September 11, 2001.
…
Instead of confronting Saudi hate-mongers, our president bows down to the Saudi king.
Instead of recognizing the Saudi-sponsored Wahhabi cult as the core of the problem, our president blames Israel.
Instead of asking why Middle Eastern civilization has failed so abjectly, our president suggests that we’re the failures.
That would be the President who hired George W. Bush’s SecDef, increased defense spending, escalated the war in Afghanistan and hasn’t closed Gitmo. But he hasn’t bombed or invaded Saudi Arabia yet, like George W. Bush did, so he’s obviously a weak terror-loving appeaser who admires "Middle Eastern civilization." Also.
In case you’re wondering who this assclown is, here’s the first line of his column that ran on March 1, 2006.
THE reporting out of Baghdad continues to be hysterical and dishonest. There is no civil war in the streets. None. Period.
And that’s how much credibility Ralph Peters has.

Obama appeases Islamist madmen, morans!
How on earth did you ever arrive at the conclusion that Peters thinks 9/11 is Obama’s fault? There is not one sentence in that column to even remotely suggest such a thing.
I’m sorry, but that headline is ludicrous.
Can’t help noticing that on Sept. 11 of the worst administration ever, there had been just the same amount of time for that executive to catch on, as means to the right wingers that Pres. O. has had enough time to end a depression, win two mishandled illegal wars, get the financial system back in order, recreate a viable economy and rebuild the neglected infrastructure, and so many other things my fingers are giving out.
But there’s an awful lot of brush in Crawford that needs tendin’.
At least there isn’t any out-of-wedlock tonsil hockey going on.
;>)
That and addresses to schoolkids about pet goats.
They might have move credibility if their party of asshats weren’t in charge when we got hit. You don’t get any credit for the lack of attacks after September 11th but, you certainly get all of the blame for those attacks! They were warned in August, 2001 in the PDB but, ignored it.
But…but…9/11 was Clinton’s fault because his response to the Cole bombing and the first WTC bombing wasn’t sufficiently macho.
That is some masterful bs, talking about O bowing down to the Saudi Royals after 8 years of Bush.
MEDIA INSANE OVERPAID BLITHERING IDIOTS
i report you decide
Would this be the same Ralph Peters, US Army Lt. Col.(retired), who suggested on Fox News that Bowe Bergdahl’s captors could save America a lot of time and trouble by just killing the captured soldier?
I would differ with the word ‘masterful’ and would respectfully offer the phrase ‘cognitively bumbling’ in its place.

The same.
This guy is off his meds. He clearly needs memory boosters and whatever is available for helping people think start. I’ve yet to read anything more muddled.

Nice. Advocating the murder of an American soldier by his captors. I hope the soldiers under Lt. Col. Peters’ command made it out alive.

It’s gotten so bad and gone on so long, I have nothing new to say, so resort kindergarten behavior. Gonna start throwing poo pretty soon.
Ya no kidding huh!! What a way to support America there
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that “Morans” guy at the opera. Wait..or was it the “monster truck rally”? I always mix that stuff up…
You are assured of an abundant supply of poo..
As I recall, Lt. Col. Ralph proudly admits to being scraped from the bottom of the barrel into the army. I seriously doubt his command ever consisted of more than a few suffering clerks and/or ass-lickers.
Personally, I’d love to spend a few minutes in a dark alley with the desk warrior, Peters.

Here’s Peter’s wiki.

I have plenty of coyote poo on my property. They seem to use the mowed paths as toilets, rather than doing it in the high grass where it is out of sight. Well, teabaggers, coyotes, whatever. Seems I have a new profession: shit collecter.

I’m fairly sure that the above picture has saved me from going mad during the last few months. I start laughing every time I see it. That guy is the real poster child for the wingnuts. I hope he makes some more signs during the energy debate. They would be wonderful due to his lack of understanding anything.
Coyote poo sounds like the weapon of choice for teabaggers, imho. I got some baby armadillos a few months ago, I understand they carry rabies, might need to go scarf up some of their droppings so the wingers don’t get any worse.
Rabies? I thought armadillos carried Hansen’s disease…
The “Morans” photo is really fascinating. I’d love to know more about this guy, actually. Wonder what his story is…
The picture reminds me of photo exhibitions of the depression era, the ones of dusty shacks and dirty children. There is a sadly disturbing honesty about it.
Just gave em another big bottle of bee tea a couple of hours ago. They’re all huddled inside trying to keep warm.
Armadillos are also the only animal, except us, that can get leprosy. Just a thought……
He is an Arizonan and Proud of it! He is Proud of the fact that the Arizonan Republicans can’t run the State!
Heh. There’s probably a law against it.
I don’t guarantee the armadillos don’t have a whole bunch of diseases to carry, this is just something a neighbor warned me should keep me from petting the babies. They’re pretty adorable.
And me too, gotta get stuff done now. Thanks for great fun.
All because the printed version of FoxNews says so. Sigh.
I’m surprised that he didn’t say that he wanted America to get hit again.
Some malarkey is better left unreported. One can only take so much outrage in one week.
OT – I just got a letter from Senator Lugar’s office explaining how we can’t afford to address health care until after we get out of this recession.

Bradley Schlozman Won’t Face Criminal Charges For Lying Under Oath
What do we want….justice! (no, we don’t want anything – everything is all good, especially crimes/theft/murder.
WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric Holder has decided not to bring any criminal charges against a former Bush administration official who lawmakers said lied to them in sworn testimony.
An inspector general’s report found that Bradley Schlozman, the former head of the civil rights division, misled lawmakers in sworn testimony about whether he politicized hiring decisions.
At his February confirmation hearing, Holder pledged he would review that decision to prosescute Schlozman when he took over the department and promised to strengthen and rebuild the civil rights division.
Holder’s decision was revealed in a letter sent to lawmakers on Friday.
Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., who was one of Schlozman’s questioners at the original hearing and had urged Holder take a second look at the case, called the attorney general’s decision “very disappointing.”
“Perjury is often a close call, but in this case it wasn’t. Mr. Schlozman was way over the line,” Schumer said.

Brad Friedman is hosting the Mike Malloy Show this week. At 6 pm PT this evening he’ll have speakers addressing the incident of eight years ago. It ought to be lively.
The word “its” is a possessive, and thus there’s no apostrophe in it. The apostrophe is used only in the contraction of “it is.”
Holder, one more disappointment in the Obama administration. Lie to Congress, that’s OK. Oh, some people ACORN hired on a temp basis did some nasty shit and defrauded ACORN, we’ve gotta investigate the radicals over at ACORN.
There is a reason why Al Qaeda chose to wait for a Republican in the White House to launch their biggest attack ever.
Rinse and repeat and never back down.

The ‘Moran’ picture guy should get a brain himself and learn to spell before calling other people ‘morans’. What a moron!
Joe Wilson (R)-South Crackerstan is going to have to put up or face rebuke in Congress.
Hit this clown and hit him hard Pelosi.

Actually, single quotation marks are incorrect here. You should use double quotation marks. Also, the period at the end of your first sentence should go inside the quotation marks—like this: “morans.”
So the crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe?
Just trying to help. We don’t want Sen. Lugar to think you’re a moran.
Ralph Peters sure makes a bunch of assertions and provides zero evidence in support. Certainly some of his indignant assertions can be dispensed with out of hand:
“Instead of insisting that Islam must become a religion of responsibility, our leaders in both parties continue to bleat that “Islam’s a religion of peace,” ignoring the curious absence of Baptist suicide bombers.”
Apparently Peters never heard of Timothy McVeigh.
Also, there were NOT 3,000 American citizens killed on 9/11; there were nearly 3,000 people killed, but many were not American citizens. I have been unable to find hard data on numbers, but from what I’ve been able to find out, as many as 10-15% were foreign nationals.
However, why should Peters be troubled by pesky facts? They only get in the way of his myopic, xenophobic, narrow minded rant.
His over-the-top hatred of all things Islam weakens the few potentially valid issues he made in the op-ed. Of course, in his defense, it should be pointed out that he also did not say that the Obama caused 9/11. Only that once he became President he failed to completely wipe out all vestiges of the evil in Islam and continues maintains unholy alliances with said representatives of a culture with no redeeming qualities. He complains about politicians that preen yet he clearly imagines himself the biggest, meanest, most unforgivingest cock in the roost.
Of course the true hint of his actual motivation for saying we’ve failed to wipe out all of the bad guys is at the bottom of the article – his new thriller goes on sale this Sunday. No doubt his book explains the proper course that revenge we all should take.
An eye for an eye is for wimps – a city for an eye. Sneak up on ‘em and wipe ‘em out so they understand that such behavior is not acceptable. (And oh, did I mention my book?)
Yes, but — as long as we’re speaking of pesky facts — where exactly did Peters say that “9/11 is Obama’s fault.” I still can’t find that.
Let us pause a long, respectful minute for the lost innocent lives of the
9/11 Bush/Cheney Failure To Protect America From Foreign Enemies
resulting from the Bush/Cheney inaction in the too numerous to list warnings of impending disaster on American soil.
The popular view that only followers of Islam would be suicide bombers seems to be based on the idea that Christians don’t have the courage to be martyrs or that soldiers only kill other soldiers. War through the ages has shown both of these positions to be false.
Suicide bombers are attacking from weakness against overwhelming technical superiority. McVeigh had an escape route but the tools he used were the same as the suicide bombers. If these people could come up with strategies that kept more on their side alive we would demonizing that approach instead. We on the other hand had the clean and meritorious “shock and awe” on our side.
I just read Ralph Peter’s piece in the New York Post. Lots of news there, like stuff about Ellen on Idol and Jen’s dinner date. He makes a lot of noise about how “we” have failed, how “we” have betrayed the dead of 9-11. I’d have say to Mr. Peters, “speak for yourself”, ’cause he sure doesn’t speak for me.
Speaking of betrayal, remember last July when Pfc. Bergdahl was captured by the Taliban? Peters, on television, suggested they could “save us a lot of legal bills”, I guess, by executing the American soldier, whom Peters accused of desertion, rather than returning him to his unit. Yup, Ralph Peters is some kind of expert wheh it comes to betrayal.
Does that mean that we can’t afford his healthcare, or just ours?
MrCleveland,
Your response to me implies that I asserted Peters blamed Obama for 9/11. I did not write that. That was in the headline. If you are going to take me to task you need to cite my posts and not somebody else’s. Funny how you focus on the headline and ignore all of the unproven b.s. that Peters shoveled out by the ton. In point of fact, there is not a single item in the Peters argument that is demonstrably provable. The garbage that Peters is pedaling is at best spin and obfuscating opinion, at worst it is just fear mongering, religious/ethnic bigotry, and sophistry.
Ralph Peters thoroughly disgraced himself when he essentially tried to goad the Taliban into executing an American soldier being held captive. That constituted treason and by giving the Taliban an additional excuse to kill Pfc. Bergdahl, put him in much greater danger. If that is not aiding an enemy during a time of war, what is? Peters is a loathsome coward that would willingly sacrifice an American soldier in order to score transient political points. Peters deserves a cell in a federal prison, but by all means, let’s ignore his insane diatribe and focus on a headline that you don’t like.
Even if we take the headline as being misleading or untrue, the balance of lies still tilts overwhelmingly on Peters’ side. By my count, that is something like 44 to 1. It’s hared to take you seriously when you ignore 44 bald face lies and unprovable assertions in favor of focusing on a single headline that is at best misleading.
But you don’t trouble yourself with pesky facts either.
He’s a troll. Ignore him. He doesn’t deserve the effort.
High noon at 20 paces with computer keyboards. Here come the 101st Fighting Keyboardists!
Does that make you a porcelain goddess? Please please, can we move on from this subject?
How many Christians refused to deny their belief and were sent to pet the lions. Did any of them wish to die as martyrs? Probably yes. How many Christians went into battle at the orders of their Pope and died? Was that not similar to suicide bombers of the Islamic jihad?
