I concur. Wilson will not resign, and will probably be re-elected next year by a comfortable margin.

Guarantee it. He’d be finished, resigned within 60 days.

I have equally as little doubt that Wilson not only won’t resign, he will be re-elected.

It would be nice if Wilson lost, but there’s probably a ton of people in his district who approved of what he did last night.

Of course, those same people would be calling for the head(s) of any Democratic congressman/woman that heckled Bush during his administration.

Clemson U. caught fixing US News college rankings.

“Clemson’s president has a goal of moving Clemson onto U.S. News’s list of the top 20 public research universities, an ambition that has put great stress on the number-crunching staff, Watt said.

To be sure, some of what she described was fairly innocuous: alumni are encouraged to give the college as little as $1 annually, in order to goose the proportion of alumni donors, which the magazine uses as a measure of alumni satisfaction. (My own college does this, as I’m sure do many others.)

Clemson’s is also pursuing a more elite student body each year– higher GPAs, higher SATs — drawing criticism from some conference attendees, who suggested that that approach compromised the university’s mission as a public, land-grandt institution.

More dubiously, the university increased the proportion of classes with fewer than 20 people mainly by moving bodies around, Watt said. It let classes with 50 people swell to 60 or 70, she said, so that others could shrink from, say, 25 to 19. “Two or three students here and there, what a difference it can make,” Watt said.

Then Watt shocked the audience by saying that, on surveys distributed by U.S. News,, the Clemson brass “rates all programs other than Clemson below average,” adding: “And I’m confident my president is not the only one who does that.” (The online magazine said Watt seemed aware of the cynicism of what she was describing, and not entirely happy with it.)…”

I don’t know what to think this morning. There are many “Joe Wilsons” in Congress. Our Rep, Steve Buyer (pronounces it “Boo-your,” as in “Boo your President!”) is holding a townhall meeting in Lafayette (our sister city) Saturday morning. Seems to me that it will just be a big love fest of the crazies…a kind of Woodstock for wingnuts and others on day leave from the mental health facilites. Seems to me that do nothing GOPPERS got themselves read out of the health care process. “Boo-your” will vote “no” on anything for the rest of his term.

Get rid of “Boo-your?” isn’t going to happen…his district is constructed like Michelle Bachmann’s…a long sliver of very rural areas in the center of the state just north of Indy. He’d have to be caught selling drugs to get thrown out.

Should i go and waste a morning trying to show reason at a local meeting when I could be playing with my grandsons?

I’m beginning to think that the GOPPERS are just irrelevant and I shouldn’t read about them, think about them or care at all about whatever they do to get themselves back in the driver’s seat. I’ll stay home with the grandsons Saturday.
