nice zed rond
g’evening folks – how ya’ll doing tonight?
Evening, all!
how’s florida tonight rond?
Steamy. And characterized by a school system that fucks over schoolkids for money. How’s Oregon, Suzanne?
How do you do that with your back the way it is? Ow? Or, is it the magic of the internet?
*laughing* hey demi
(((demi)))
storm blowin in here rond – just now starting to rain
Ronster! How’s tricks? Family doing well?
Great cartoon!
hey margot – thanks and glad ya liked it – how’s ohio tonight?
Indian Summer, lovely. How’s Oregon?
Hey! Family’s all well, thanks. You and yours?
blustery! i’m enjoying it margot. weather dood is saying tomorrow will be a ‘wild weather’ day in oregon with cold unstable air mixing it up with warm moist air.
how’s the southland demi? i heard that fire turned out to be arson.
hehehe.. I just tried to read an article on the (Murdoch) Wall St Journal and an ad kept on popping up asking me to link alternately to Fox Business News and Murdoch-owned racist and rabidly wingnut tabloid The NY Post. So much for the journalistic independence WSJ was promised. It’s a perfect wingnut ménage a trios.
hey blub – i suppose it should not be a surprise but still …
Van Jones resigned. WTF?!?!?!? Are Democrats going to ever stop caving to the wingnuts?
Good evening Suz and Pups.
Today’s Book Salon was really good. At about the half-way mark I was about to ask a question, but didn’t because Gov. Ridge was tap dancing on some of the questions.
My, my, the Pups were sooo well behaved and had real good thinkin’ questions. I think Mr. Ridge got a barrel of Rachels!!
SW Florida weather this week was unusual. Lots of daytime “weather” and it clears up at night. Very humid most days and quite dark too.
hey nelson – how ya doing?
hi everyone – it’s been only hot here in austin the last few days instead of no-i’m-not-ever-leaving-the-house-again. it even rained a bit last night.
it was – i was surprised he stayed the whole time – i think he was pleasantly surprised by how civil and smart everyone’s questions were.
nice to see ya again pat9
hey gw – so fall is on its way or is this one that is designed to lull you into a false sense of security?
Good evening bumz. Can’t sleep. Pain is manageable, I’m just wide awake.
How are the firepups tonight?
oh tex i’m so sorry to hear you are having a bad evening *hand on monitor*
Hola Pups! How are we this evening as we count down to Prez Obama’s Socialist School Seminar?
Hey Betsy!
Yes, I tried real hard to be polite and not call him (Ridge) an Imperialist Tool. (Kidding).
hey jo fish – where are ya now that you are not flying?
In beautiful North Carolina tonight… maybe be out in Kansas in a couple of weeks. Love to get to the Left Coast if I can. Wishing I was back in the pointy end of a jet… :)
Thank you!
I maybe shouldn’t have done quite so much attempting to fix my washing machine ….
Hey RonD. Long time no see.
weather dood just said gusts of 45 here at the coast tomorrow and chances of lightning, thunder, hail and rain. said there could be snow in the cascades at the higher elevations.
and then we go back to summer weather by the end of the week
must be strange to be flying in the passenger compartment after being in the pointy end for so long
yep. they’re bragging about it over at foxnews… claiming credit. They’ve been giving the controversy non-stop coverage for two days now. I guess Murdoch’s running the administration now.
yikes tex. were ya able to fix it?
It washes with cold water. Not hot. 10 year old machine.
latimes blog has a post up about it
Rupert is only running things now because dude, it’s more “Bi-Partisan-y” that way. We are in the Pre-modern era of Bi-Partisan-y-ness.
Please view all future events through that filter if the message has been pre-approved by our statistically less-significant, but fully Bi-Partisan-y masters of our lives. Any other messages will not be supported or disseminated because it might piss off Olympia Snowe, Chuck G and Mike E.
rut roh – did it come with your apt or is it yours?
Hugs Betsy, hope it gets better quickest.
It’s mine.
i was at an activist training this morning with the legendary lisa fithian. i’d seen her before at crawford when cindy sheehan was there and also at a film screening of the movie “jenin jenin” about some of occupied palestine, but had never gotten to spend so much time with her before. she is really amazing and inspiring. her take is that she’s in it to win (say, a living wage for janitors). and that organizing is all about guiding with one hand and pushing with the other when it comes to empowering people to counteract some of their fear and ways they’ve become small so they can stand up and step by step develop the ability to stand up for their rights (our rights). i’m on fire from being with her.
he. The president ran on a promise of post-partisanship. Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to have a two way conversation with orcs who want to rend you apart limb by limb and eat you. Hopefully they will realize this fact soon.
darn *big sigh*
we need a washing machine woes song tonight. something from deep in blues country.
Just reading your comment, I want to meet her.
housecleaning blues (betty boop cartoon)
there will be a more comprehensive training here in austin in the spring. i may help with a piece of it – the piece on non-violent communication. i’ve had some training with that already and leave in a week for a 9 day workshop in albuquerque for more. meantime here’s her website. many of the tools she uses are on the website and lots more.
Wash Day Blues
how cool gw
dirty laundry
i love the dedication to rupert murdoch at the beginning — it ties it in with 2 different conversations in this thread…
thanks, suz
btw, i loved your dive.
time for me to turn in. have a good night.
Sleep well GW.
g’nite gw – nice seeing ya again
Hi all. Trying to catch up on the Ridge thread.
Interesting he uses the “people who are republican or democrat” formulation. Would have thought he would have too much pride. Maybe it’s become so ingrained they no longer know they do it.
Also pleased perris raised the use of the term “homeland” isssue.
Good song.
hey sunny – how are ya tonight?
looked like a good show too
This just drives me nuts. You know they will be crowing about it left and right. And they are tying it to colorofchange.org campaign to alert advertisers of Glenn Beck’s racism.
You know there was a reason that I used a pseudonym when I ran the campaign against KSFO, because this is how they retaliate. Not directly against CoC but against their friends and family.
Someone had to pay a price for costing Fox money and it certainly wasn’t going to be Glenn Beck or the people who use him to make them money.
Good, thanks. Middle of the night chum chatting sure is addictive.
hey spocko
Going to make another attempt at sleep. G’nite pups.
fingers and toes crossed for ya tex – g’nite
Hey Suzanne!
Thanks suz!
First, Hot for Teacher by Van Halen, and then The Laundry Room by The Avett Brothers for TexBetsy.
*laughing* nicely done mr why
Aw thanks Mr W!
evening, suzanne
hey ppd – how’s the south south bay tonight?
Canadians are baffled by our Obama ”indoctrination” controversy
http://www.theglobeandmail.com…..le1277370/
I really hate that this Van Jones smear worked yet people who worked for Bush who committed WAR crimes are still at large. Why isn’t Karl Rove in jail?
I let all the main people in the ABC network know about how Lee Rodgers calls for the Genocide of the Iraqi people and is still on the air working for ABC Radio/Citadel Broadcasting. I guess certain kinds of racism are acceptable on the broadcast radio.
Remember when Edwards hired two prominent bloggers and the right wing went nuts and attacked them? They had to resign to protect Edwards.
Drives me nuts.
it goes back to the gop mantra – its ok if a republican does it — and their wurlitzer is set to destroy any non-r who does as they do instead of as they say.
the rest of the world is shaking their head in disgust at what passes for politics as usual in this country.
nice night after another warm day — how’s everything up north?
Washer and dryer miscellany. About 10 years ago I stumbled into the guys who install new Ws&Ds for Lowes. They sold me and installed a mismatched used set for around $200. And gave me like a 6mo warranty. They are both still good (knock wood).
Seems a lot of people replace both when one of a set goes bad and the installers end up with the ones that are ok. Obviously a crap shoot, but worked for me. These guys seemed to know their appliances.
stormy up here ppd – a nice change of pace for the weekend then forecast to resume summer by the end of the week
i had a mis-matched set back when baby girl was a baby – cost me 50 for both the washer and dryer and they both worked fine for several years.
Sept & Oct weather is often the best all year on the bay
LOL, can’t even believe my eyes, others are awake.
Thought it was just me tonight. Dammit, sleep sometimes is so….
nevermind. Personal problem.
HOPE ALL PUPS ARE DOING WELL TONIGHT!! ER, THIS MORNING!
sorry ya can’t sleep oldfg.
Yeah, the whole double standard thing drives me nuts too.
I keep trying to figure out if it really does just boil down to the media, or if it’s something I’m missing, something a bit more complex.
I dunno, but I’m damned tired of it.
Found out my local school system WON’T BE PARTICIPATING in Tuesday’s speech by Obama. Local officials said that too many parents voiced “concern” so it was cancelled.
See, double standard. When Reagan and Bush (1st Bush) did it, I don’t recall a big controversy.
This shit fucking sucks.
OK, that’s a lot of profanity, but I could go on.
for oldfg
I was fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to spend years in foreign countries in service, and while there it was funny sometimes to see the reactions to our politics.
But that was long ago. I can’t help but wonder what they must feel now. Damn, I’m an American, I can’t believe the turns our politics have taken.
I’d love to hear more about the reactions to the whole “We gotta protects our childruns from the black President” thing. I’d really love to be in Europe now to hear some of the regular folks take on it.
ROFL.
Wow, never heard that before.
Man, thanks for a great laugh!!!
Wow, that’s exactly how I feel sometimes.
FUCK THE FUCKING SHIT FUCK ! ! ! !
ROTFL.
hehehehehe love that song myself oldfg
night, all – be well
g’nite ppd
time for me to get in some cuddle time with token, cutest dog in the world 9lb category. thanks y’all for all the conversations tonight.
g’nite folks.
Not a bad bet if you have some reason to think they’re ok.
Haha, just finished the toon.
Man, mommy owl had a set of lungs on her!!!!
Oh, sorry, distracted. Again.
We were discussing the fuck the fucking shit fuck song, right???
nite late owls. have a good weekend.
Have a great one.
And don’t forget this Labor Day weekend, if it weren’t for the Labor movement, there wouldn’t even be weekends.
Hope yours is great.
going to bed now, but I just scanned headlines from Asian language press (where it’s already tomorrow). This could be just linguistic misunderstanding but it seems that agencies there are citing WH sources that the president is prepared to proceed with a dual track approach – continue to encourage Dems to work with Snowe on a PO-free compromise while, at the same time, stay prepared to offer a still secret WH-authored non-bipartisan bill should the talks fail. Which course of action gets presented on Tuesday will depend on what happens between now and then, with reportedly two versions of the speech being prepared. WTF is going on?
Clown Car Alert!
