- Health care reform after Teddy.
- Jim Cooper: medical co-ops awesome, electric co-ops suck.
- Well, we hope so.
- But it better not suck.
- Willard to replace Ted? Uh, no.
- This is surprising like, not at all.
- The stupidest fucking post of all time.

The important thing is truly who pays the most, followed by who screams the loudest, and if it’s BS even better.

Why Doesn’t the SEC Know about the Doctrine of Implied Waiver? |
| By: Cynthia Kouril Wednesday August 26, 2009 7:20 pm |
In 1981, SEC Commissioner Bevis Longstreth gave a speech “Reliance on Advice of Counsel as a Defense to Securities laws Violations”. The take away from that speech?
“At the outset I should stress that the “reliance defense”, as justifiable reliance on advice of counsel is sometimes referred to, is not really a defense at all.” AND if you assert it you waive attorney client privilege.
Dominick Dunne, Writer and Journalist, Dead at 83 |
| By: Lisa Derrick Wednesday August 26, 2009 6:25 pm |
The murder of his daughter, actress Dominique Dunne, brought Dunne to the forefront of both journalism and victims’ rights as he covered the 1984 trial for Vanity Fair. Dominique’s boyfriend-turned-murderer chef John Sweeney–who worked at then-trendy Ma Maison (the economy and infamy around the crime killed off the restaurant’s business)–was convicted of voluntary manslaughter, not murder, and was freed after serving less than four years of a six-year sentence.
And that’s where my life intersected with Dunne’s in a far creepier way than just saying “You are one of my heroes” to a total stranger in a hotel lobby.

As you listen to leaders and to institutions in the coming days and evaluate what they are telling you about health care reform, and you try to discern who represents your interests and who does not, remember one thing:

Kennedy: A Lifetime as Health Care Champion |
| By: Jason Rosenbaum Wednesday August 26, 2009 2:00 pm |
Senator Kennedy’s legacy cannot be defined within one issue, no matter how important. But it would not be an understatement to say that his life’s work revolved around health care for all. He said so himself, calling it “the cause of [his] life” in a passionate Newsweek op-ed published just last month.
