by twolfThe last time I paid attention to professional anti-gay lunkheadbigot Matt Barber was when World O’Crap was marveling at him for (1) being the ““Policy Director for Cultural Issues” for the Concerned Woman for America (him being a concerned woman and all), and (2) spitting (metaphorically, though I wouldn’t want to be his computer screen) on Mary Cheney’s lesbian (ahem, shriek) baby.

Last night we had a rapid response effort after hearing reports that the Malkinites were going to swarm a health care event in Denver where Nancy Pelosi was showing up in support of Jared Polis and Diane DeGette.
Square State, ColoradoPol and Pronin2 at DailyKos spread the word and we signed up volunteers to attend the event.
Health Industry Mogul Rick Scott Still Can’t Explain Billions in Fraud |
| By: Jason Rosenbaum Thursday August 6, 2009 7:00 pm |
“Rick Scott is still unable to explain how he, as a ‘successful’ CEO, was unaware of billions of dollars in billing discrepancies and can therefore not be held accountable for Columbia/HCA’s Medicare fraud.”

The Democrats should’ve launched this campaign six months ago, easy.
Take a look at what you’re fighting for, teabaggers.
Yes, Baucus is Writing the White House Bill |
| By: Jane Hamsher Thursday August 6, 2009 5:40 pm |
The Senate will pass a bill with co-ops. The Blue Dogs will go for Round 2 of gutting the House bill when they return in September. Everybody will agree to accept co-ops in conference, and unless there are 40 progressive members of the House willing to hold the line more firmly when they let the Blue Dogs roll them last week, it’s bye-bye public plan.
Clergy Know About Health Care Rationing |
| By: Peterr Thursday August 6, 2009 4:50 pm |
Want to hear about insurance companies rationing health care? Just ask your local clergyperson. Most of us hear about the rationing almost every day as we visit with our members, and can paint a clearer picture of the need for reform than any lobbyist, without all the spin.

We’ve reached a kind of point in this country where Rush Limbaugh just has a certain media space to spout this shit. He can flirt with saying-but-not-saying how the black president just can’t be president because he must not be a citizen and he can describe capitalism as having essential Jewish character. And he’ll face no reprisal. People treat racism and antisemitism like it’s Manny-being-Manny.
Members of Congress Spike FDL’s Health Care Funding – Can You Help? |
| By: Jane Hamsher Thursday August 6, 2009 2:50 pm |
As I said the other day, we’ve raised a little over $66,000, both from contributions made by individuals and the funds that came from the organization. We need to raise $150,000 total to keep everything going through the end of October. We’ve got an amazing team working on this, including organizers and bloggers and programmers who have been doing a fantastic job. Mike Stark’s videos have been all over the cable news networks, and so far we’ve managed to get 15 members of Congress to publicly pledge to vote against any health care bill that has co-ops or triggers — something that organizations with $40 million budgets have failed to so.
It hit me right in my gut on Friday night when I was told that on Monday morning, there would be no more money to pay these people. We need your help.
