Despite harsh condemnations by the Anti-Defamation League, the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the American Jewish Congress for comparing President Obama and the Democratic leadership to Nazis, the drug-addicted draft-dodging sex tourist upped the ante today.

Even if you accept the premise that population-centric counterinsurgency is necessary for counterterrorism success — and if al-Qaeda is more interested in Pakistan than Afghanistan, that means that Afghanistan is a staging ground for us, not them, in the current confrontation — nothing within that premise implies a nation-building effort. Pushing the Afghanistan government into a position of greater provision of services is not the same thing as building that capacity for it. The only way you get there is through mission creep.

I find it rather interesting that George Bush started pushing fusion centers the day that Risen and Lichtblau exposed the illegal domestic surveillance program.

These memos used incredibly tortured logic to justify acts which, in prior wars, the United States prosecuted as war crimes.
