It’s amazing how often we catch Republicans saying something to one audience, then saying the opposite to another audience. They know the media is asleep at the wheel, so they can get by with throwing some red meat to their base, while disavowing it in other circles.

Speaking of Colbert, I doubt that it was Ridge himself who agreed to appear at FDL.
