Bruised by a tough vote on climate change legislation in June, burned by fiery town hall meetings in August, and worried about the midterm elections to be held in November 2010, Democratic centrists and vulnerable lawmakers in the party are signaling that they are not happy with Pelosi’s plan.
"I don’t see how we get to 218," said a senior Democratic aide. "The Blue Dogs are ‘Hell nos.’ The people who voted yes [on energy] want to vote ‘no’ twice."
Great. Can we kick these people out of the party yet?
And this is is hilarious.
One Blue Dog said Pelosi’s pledge to include a public option favors her liberal base in the Democratic Caucus.
"They’re playing to people who can’t get beat by Republicans," said the lawmaker, who plans to vote against the bill if it remains in its current form.
The overwhelming majority of rank and file Democrats support the public option and without it, support for health care reform collapses. So to whine that its a pander to San Francisco liberals is simply a lie. And seriously, if you have so little game that you’re in jeopardy of losing to one of those Birther flat-earther dittoheads, we don’t want you.
Liberal frustration with Blue Dogs is growing. In a conference call Thursday, liberal Rep. Pete Stark (D-Calif.) said Blue Dogs are "brain dead," and "just looking to raise money from insurance companies."
Pete Stark for Majority Leader.

birther flat-earther dittoheads. Very nice wordsmithing.
How do we get to these Blue Dogs and let them know they have more to lose by continuing to oppose real reform?
Can we use ActBlue to create “Not” accounts? Like “Not Donnelly” – and get the Democratic base to withhold donations by putting them into that account until our Blue Dogs finally do something right?
That term might make Glenn Beck start crying…
That would make it even more delightful…
You’re right. They have so little game that they feel danger from the townhall wingnut vote.
AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Blue Texan and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
I called for Pelsoi to be removed as Speaker after she dosed Pete Stark with flamable bullshit and lit a match when Pete called all the fascist Bushites liars and murderers way back in the day…now her dance with Rahm Emmanuel is gunna cost the country it’s first African American President and the Democrats their majorities in both houses unless she cracks the fuckin whip on the barkin’ BlueDog currs.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, NOT ALL FASCISTS CALL THEMSELVES REPUBLICANS!!!
The banality of Blue Dogs. It’s not about ideology or serving the public, it’s about going along to get along.
There’s been a lot of faith-a-fatizen in DC and Ma lately what with Ted’s funeral and all I just can’t help but wonder what Christians are thinking about when they would deny health care to families including children. And the worst of it all is that some elected Christians will benefit by huge piles of money paid to them by insurance and Health care and drug compaines if they prevent people from having a doctor or getting any prescription medicine when people are sick.
I just have to ask why some Christians are in league with SIN? How would God judge these hypocrits and nare-doo-wells…would sins of this proportion go off the charts in HEAVEN?
But the gubmint ain’t supposedta!
Really, it’s that simple.
Texas is threatening secession over a single issue like this health care “reform” that, by all appearance, looks as if will not be reform at all as much as a revamped, repackaged status quo. There’s your bipartisan spirit. I can perfectly understand why Obama thinks he can work with these maniacs.
Ergo, I think it’s high time someone wrote an open letter to the great state of Texas. Blue Texan, you know this isn’t directed at you but at the red Texans so please don’t get offended by this (I’m not known for being charitable to my enemies).
I am so not gonna hold my breath waitin’ for Pelosi to do the right thing.
Keep in mind that Obama got something like 43-44% of the vote here.
Tru dat B T..tru dat.
It’s over. Obama sinking in the polls.
“Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. That’s the lowest level of total approval yet measured for Obama. Fifty-three percent (53%) now disapprove.”

All Hispanic.
I was just waitin’ for some moron to make that statement.
There will be no name calling on this board.- Mod.
Newt 2012
They’re not denying care, they just don’t want it provided by the federal government…
shheeeeet
If the foo shits, wear it.
I’ve need a response in a debate I’m having on Facebook with a conservative relative.
Does anyone know about Freep.com or ifo.de?
Please, please, please could there be a thread in which these trolls aren’t allowed to take over?
Detroit Free Press is a legit paper.
Ya gotta have game if you are going to play.
“They’re playing to people who can’t get beat by Republicans,” said the lawmaker, who plans to vote against the bill if it remains in its current form.”; well, ‘Mr. Lawmaker, guess holding onto your job is more important than having principles and compassion. Bluntly speaking , you’re already defeated- by yourself !
If the House were a pro football team, you’d already have been cut just because of yor defeatist attitude. For chrissakes, Mr. ‘Blue Dog’ grow some balls.
Back to work.
Namaste
Rahm needs to lean on blue dogs.
We will defeat blue dogs who vote against the PO.
AFL-CIO will not give them money and we will fund primary opponents.
They are f..cked. Between a rock and a hard place. We will make sure many lose their seats.
Or they can gets lots of $$$ in support and AFL-CIO support if they do the right thing.
Dreaming again!
I thought it looked legit, but how do you respond when they have these stories of Canadians who come across to get procedures they can’t get in Canada? I know from having many family members in Canada, that most of that stuff is B.S. but how do I respond in a debate?
“Liberal base”
Exactly! Especially when 77 percent of the nation, including 61 percent of republicans agree with our compromise.. a public option.
We who demand all people in need of care receive it. We who demand folks (insured or nay) don’t lose their homes or go bankrupt due to health crisis.
We who demand fiscally conservative use of the nations resources to achieve it. And have real plans which would do so.
We who believe in mandates only if a public option is a part of mandates.
We who believe triggers kill people, force down or maintain low wages – indentured servitude.
Turn up the Base!
Rasmussen’s been exposed as a poll gamer:
http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…..-The-Scale
What they need to realize is they are going to lose their seats anyway if they pass no reform at all, or some crappy, corporate giveaway reform. It’s actually the Reps in safe Democratic districts who have nothing to lose, they’ll probably still get re-elected even with a crappy bill. But the swing districts will swing the other way so fast their heads will spin if they lose the Democratic base.
That’s right, Hispanics, just like Blacks don’t count as real Americans in GOP-er World.
I totally forgot that.
Thanks for
racereminding me, Samboot.-G
Point out that their Exhibit A, Shona Holmes, has been exposed as a lying fraud: http://www.dailykos.com/story/…..elling-It.
I’m sure you can find plenty of stories of Americans going to Canada for health care. Use teh google.
It is funny but I can’t recall all of the poll handicappers telling us all two years out how the next congressional elections were going to flesh out.
Up until now, that is.
-G
Ya mean the illegals who crossed the boarder, had the anchor babies who now
vote to dip into the public till.
“Over the years, RR has been one of the most prolific pollsters in the game, and despite the fact that it is an open secret that founder Scott Rasmussen’s political proclivities are well to the right of center, their numbers on campaigns have been on the fairway more often than not.”
[modnote: link please]
I mean, really. The GOP is about as popular as bad breath these days. You can’t beat ‘em now, get lost.
It’s still not enough Canadians coming here to criple the Candian system. As for Rassmussan, they tend to scue Republican. No credibility! As for the Blue Dogs, they’re toast either way. If they don’t vote for the public option yet it passes anyway, they’ll have sealed their fate. They’ll be marginalized by the rest of the Dems. The insurance industry will stop the money train because the Blue Dogs will be rendered useless and unable to affect legislation in their favor. If they vote for the public option and really believe they will lose their seats because of it…..what better way to stick it to your ignorant constituents than to stab them in the backs by voting for the public option. If you’re going down, why not screw these idiots in the process.
The Blue Dog running against a Republican should at least be able to muster 50% of the vote according to the law of averages (this assuming that voters can’t tell the difference in the first place and therefore cast votes at random).
Oh, and if by some luck we can locate real Dems in their districts we can fund their campaign and crush the idiot Blue Dogs! It would be fitting to replace them with another Dem. And don’t assume the Dems won’t pick up a few more Senate seats. This would have the affect of pushing the Blue Dogs even further out of the picture by adding more Dems, they become obsolete!
Saw an interesting take on this the other day:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/…..-Blue-Dogs
Aw, hell. Texas aint goin’ nowhere. For better or worse.
Thanks, I went with that angle and also mentioned that a small Canadian town, near Detroit, would logically go to Detroit for care, just like I would go to the nearest big city for certain procedures.
The other article was only dealing with elective surgeries anyway, I have much less concern if you have to wait for your plastic surgery or liposuction.
I can’t believe more than 30 percent of the American public comes down squarely in favor of halitosis regardless of the alternatives.
I think rahm probably got most of the blue dogs elected, he is a “blue dog”. Its obvious that the democrat/republican “battle” has nothing to do with the electorate, the “battle” is for corporate patronage and the “issues” are just branding. One is coke the other is pepsi. Both are bottled and packaged in the same plant. We have to make this into a genuine class struggle and not just the political superbowl. Democrats arent merely sitting out the class struggle, they are on the other side. 1 Lobbyist vote = 100,000 of our votes. Thats how they can ignore the fact that 60-75 percent of ALL Americans want the government to provide health care for all.
Well said.
They most certainly are denying care…the people can’t afford health care anymore and the sinner elected officials are rejecting the needs of the people.
Though I know it’s not possible, I wish that everyone would cancel their current health insurance and take their chances in the emergency. Most people have children and couldn’t risk this but, for someone like me who is single, healthy and has no serious illness I would love to bring down the thieves that are the insurance companies! I myself am 49 years old and have only been in the hospital twice in my life. Once when I was born and then at 15 when I got my tonsils removed!
Sorry! That’s emergency rooms!
They still have access, they just don’t have the money for it, that’s all.
Are you being denied ferraris too just because you can’t afford it?
Not having a car is not a life or death matter! What I don’t get is that a country that is always bragging and chanting that “we’re number one” doesn’t seem to be bothered by the fact that when it comes to healthcare, ‘WE’RE NUMBER 37″ How’s that workin out for ya? Face it, we SUCK! I’m surprised that the anti international trolls aren’t botherd by this either. I guess when you’re stupid you can force yourself to ignore the facts!
You’re under the assumption that healthcare is a right. Many do not agree with you…
Not having a yearly checkup is not a life or death matter either, or dental care, etc…
It all depends on the metrics you’re using to define “number 1″.
Because they just keep repeating the claim that we’re #1 in health care regardless of the facts to the contrary. American Exceptionalism won’t allow them to think otherwise.
Yeah, ya never have to worry about dying from lack of dental care, huh?
Because they just keep repeating the claim that public option is the only option, regardless of the facts to the contrary. Progressive Exceptionalism won’t allow them to think otherwise.
Sorry, I’m not paying higher taxes so tommy crackhead can get his teeth cleaned…
That’s 1 case. So we should give free dental care to everyone so we can stop 1 rare situation from happening? Why didn’t his mother pay for it? Why didn’t she work harder? Why didn’t she take personal responsibility for her son’s dental care? Why should my family suffer through higher taxes because she’s a bad mother?
Oh, and moderator, please tell people to cite a source when they quote directly.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..02116.html
You mean the link I provided in my comment #57 which you obviously did not read at first or you wouldn’t have mentioned folks don’t die from lack of dental care? That link which you have now copied over? That link?
Sorry, my mistake, didn’t come up when I looked at comment 57 the first time.
Always gotta be snarky, typical progressive elitist.
About the term Blue Dog Democrat…wouldn’t Yellow Belly Democrat be more appropriate? Or, how about Red Dog Democrat, or even Little Republicans?
With Democrats like these who needs Republicans.
Be sure to vote in the primaries against incumbents.
So Mike Ross’s, Heath Shuler’s, or… chief of staff got quoted on backgroud. Or was that one of Rahm’s old legislative staffers who is chief of staff for one of the Blue Dogs?
Vulnerable to Republicans? Blue Dogs don’t how vulnerable to Republicans they’ll be if they fail to pass real, honest-to-goodness, cost-controlling (and not just government cost-controlling), healthcare reform. Their Republic good-ole-boys are setting them up for 1994, while their insatiable hunger for campaign cash is leading them to destruction. All of that holding their breaths til they turn blue has killed some brain cells.
The Blue Dogs are the result of Rahm’s crazy plan to convert Republicans to the Democratic Party and expect them to be Democrats. You can bleach a skunk but it still stinks.
When will Dems learn that they can’t beat the GOP by being Republican lite?
Fire Rahm Emmanuel.
“Over the years, RR has been one of the most prolific pollsters in the game, and despite the fact that it is an open secret that founder Scott Rasmussen’s political proclivities are well to the right of center, their numbers on campaigns have been on the fairway more often than not.”
You are guilty of selective quoting. The very next sentence after the one you quote above (from the piece linked to by Phoenix Woman at 32)
“This year, however, it is hard not to go to their webpage and sense an agenda. Apparently, other people in the blogosphere have noticed it, too. Greg Sargent, for example. . .”
You’re kidding, right? Ferraris? Is this all a big joke to you?
No, we can’t assume healthcare is a right. Ferraris, though…
Nope, wrong again. Many progressives believe in single payer. Others favor the public option as one of a number of choices. Monothematic progressives are not. Like herding cats. (A cliche but a good one.)
Dying of toothache is not a rare event. It’s very easy for tooth infection to spread. A child would be very vulnerable.
Just about everything you’ve said here is in error or frivolous. Why doesn’t the mother work harder? You obviously have no idea of what many people are up against. Read Barbara Ehrenreich’s book “Nickeled and Dimed” on trying her damnedest but unsuccessfully to make ends meet while working multiple low wage jobs.
And yours at 62 was not snarky?
Well, since most of them are owned outright by insurance companies, i’d suggest:
They’re not “Blue Dog” Democrats, they are Blue Cross Democrats.
So biodiesel, if you’re still lurking about under the bridge I just want to know. Are you one of those compassionate conservative we’ve heard about? Or are one of those torture loving conservative? Or are you just a one of the libertarians that want’s to smoke dope and get laid? You’re parents raised a real keeper.
