boing boing reverse one and a half somersaults with three and a half twists, in the free position, no splash (’natch)
g’evening everyone

Heya Suz. Move’s halfway done, but i’m running short on money. No thanks to having my check garnished. October 21st can’t get here fast enough.
I should be into the new play tomorrow night. I won’t have ‘net until tuesday though. If i can, i’ll wander over somewhere i can get wifi with my laptop, Ginkaku.
hey alias – good to see your fonts again – fingers and toes crossed for ya hon
Hey, Suzanne!
Hey, Pups!
FWDiva
hey funny – how’s seattle tonight?
Hey, Suz
Can ya lend me some of that chickweed anti-itchy lotion? Something itchy bitey got in the house and is eating me aliiiiive!!!

FWDiva
“RoadRunner… If he catches you, you’re through!”
Hey Suz!
West Coast chimes in.
Reasonably pleasant. We’ve been getting showers overnight, and then sunny, if a bit damp, afternoons.
Hope everyone caught Bill Moyers’ Journal from last night. Stunning, really. Could’ve beat up on the Murder by Spreadsheet insurance industry a bit more, but, still, I learned a lot.
FWDiva
hey newton – how’s the bay area tonight?
morris – my favorite furniture maker – how’s the southland tonight?
Bing bong!
Greetings to the lower left hand corner, from the upper left hand corner.
Anything new in the shop there?
FWDiva
Freaking BA is like a sauna the last few days.
Listen to me whine – wait until January, when we get down to a frightful 53…
The lower left hand corner is hot! (Thermally speaking, I mean.)
Shop is sad and empty.
Things would have to pick up quite a bit to get slow.
had showers yesterday. today was a grand day with overcast skies clearing to bright sunshine. token is totally recovered from his procedures thursday and is quite frisky.
hey pj – yikes
oh crap :(
Aw, crap. Sorry to hear it. Forget I asked…
Don’t suppose you get to make artsy fun stuff at a time like this…just ‘cuz?
FWDiva
Well, scritches to the boy! Amazing how they can bounce back.
Bet he’ll feel much better without that extra toofer.
FWDiva
Maybe that would be a good idea, actually.
But I prefer to spend my time being morose and thinking about all the mistakes I’ve made in life.
After all, I could have been a surgeon, or a contender.
tomorrow is his last day of pain meds but he still has several days worth of antibotics to take. he got smacked by one of the landlord’s cats this afternoon. he naturally picked the most antisocial one to try to befriend
just let me know when ya want me to go all cher on ya dood
Heh. Anytime would be good.
Hi Pups just a quick drive by to say we had a great day at the second wedding today!! And Danny be dammed he just got things wet and not much else!! He sure didn’t dampen any ones spirits today either in Nahant or at the reception!!
Suz that was a 9.9 even in the Bulgarians book!!
hey nahant – glad ya had a great time in spite of danny
Well, yeah, I know what you mean
I could be spending all my jobless time picking up the house…looking for work…but…yeah, I live in moroseville, too.
But maybe your tools and stuff are missing ya?
Maybe I could find some inspiration among my arts and grafs stuff…
FWDiva
snap outta it morris
take funny’s suggestion and do something fun.
It’s all bailey’s fault – a token training failure ;
hey sunny – bailey cat has been distracted by hiding from all the construction noises coming from downstairs
(edit: removed – wrong thread)
mmmm…bee-beep!
zooooom
Hey Suz. What’s happening downstairs?
At this point i’m going to obey my aching muscles and head to bed. I pretty much expect to be hurting like crazy after the move tomorrow night. But at least it’ll be all done, aside from the fun of sorting things all over again.
I have a full day at the pharmacy followed by the last trip to get everything over to the house. So yeah owwie.
downstairs neighbor moved out and in with her boyfriend. landlords are here – so far new windows (and wall repair from the old leaky ones) and fresh paint. they are getting it all spiffy ready to rent out
g’nite alias – a long hot soak (when ya get time) will help. i hate moving
punaise jr. co-deejays a Saturday night hip hop show at UC Santa Cruz radio

Suz, so far i’m the first occupant of the house. The other 3 renters will move in as the other rooms are finished. I saw the place before the sale was final, and before they started the final round of fixing up. My insight to the potential of it was true to the mark.
I need to have my digicam out tomorrow and maybe during the day before work on monday. Just for some pictures of the place. (and i need to find cheap large window curtains aaargh)
Are you tempted to move downstairs?
Marisa
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba7QvrreqU4
how forking kewl pun – good to see your fonts again
Dude. Not fair.
i won’t get my soak until monday. The natural gas won’t be turned on until monday night. So two days of owchy, and then i can shower or soak to my heart’s content. After that? it’s 3 days to putter around and get myself settled and generally chill after these last few hectic days.
hey emerson
sunny, downstairs is smaller and the view is different. i love it up here… but it is an option that my landlord mentioned earlier this week.
Hey! Great!
Did all guys have a crush on her or was it just me?
font-see meeting you here? :~)
Maybe part of it is because I visited my old friend of 30 years, Bert Schneider, today. I don’t know how many of you are aware of who Bert is, buy among other things he produced Easy Rider, Hearts and Minds, Five Easy Pieces, The Last Picture Show, and Days of Heaven, not to mention having created the Monkees. Okay, don’t mention the Monkees. He was also one of Hollywood’s premier radicals.
Bert is ill, frighteningly thin and has taken to rambling about how he is going to sue everyone who has ripped him off, and there are plenty of those.
Of course, when he has spells of clarity, its still fascinating to listen to all those stores of Nicholson, Hopper, John Huston, Candy Bergan (who I think was his true love) and smuggling Huey Newton out of Cuba. Of course it’s even more interesting to me because I knew/know most all of these people as well. We all have regrets, and Bert’s today was that he didn’t sleep with Jane Fonda when he had the chance.
He says he loves me, thinks I’m a great artist and he’d give me half of everything he has. Too bad he doesn’t have anything right now.
It’s hard to see people you love who were once so strong so weak.
monday is a day you are looking forward to :) usually folks do not look forward to mondays in any positive way
(((morris))) (((bert)))
Did?
George Costanza has a better chance than I do, and he’s fictional.
exactly, me too
Hi Suz-it’s forkin hot down here!
hot, and entirely too still
yeah, but at least you can fill her computer needs Newt…
i’m so glad i moved! life on the oregon coast has spoiled me – the hottest it got up here was 85 iirc. i’m forking loving it.
i don’t do hot well – i carry my own personal summer around with me and don’t need extra.
earthquake weather…
NO breezes for 3 days. Had the AC on the last 3 nites. I never do that.
quite an emotional afternoon here – started watching teddy’s funeral shortly before they arrived at the capitol steps. so sad.
Sure. I’m in her rolodex.
hey pun – right on the screws.
It was 96 in SF yesterday. Horrid.
yikes
those forkers terrify me.
Okay. Snapped out of it.
Too damn hot, anyway, Even here down by the water.
hey mary mac – horrid is right.
Maybe it is just hot. The 1906 one was in April. Not too hot.
(big ole smile)
october 17, 1989 was an indian summer day
It was hot like that once when I lived in San Francisco. It was the most uncomfortable I have been weather wise.
Hot is optional. It’s the humid and still that makes it earthquake weather.
We call it “close” in my family.
Shiver.
I tuned in late, but it was emotional. Brought back memories of my parents taking us see JFK just drive by in an open car as he campaigned in Jersey in 1960. A frozen moment. And then mom and I going to church on Nov, 23, 1963 to offer prayers while every grown up I knew (except mom) walked around like zombies.
That’s not supposed to happen, right Mary? It hit 100 at my house.
same here – tuning in late that is.
You are in SF right? Funny weather. In Sac we didn’t get so many over 100 days this season.
Tomorrow it is going to be 91 and then in the 80’s all next week.
Aw, hell, Morris. That seriously sucks. I’m very sorry to hear it. Hang in there.
FWDiva
Hiya Suze & Pups! Spent the afternoon and early evening bouncing around from ERs to specialists office, and from there straight to my HS reunion dinner in grubby clothes, no makeup, and a splendid eyepatch. But at least I made it there before it was over! I made quite the entrance, i must say.
And the eyepatch was spendid because it was unadorned. Baby Brother, whom i coerced into driving me around, was threatening to pin me down and draw a gory eyeball and veins on the patch as payment. Brat.
And the rain makes it feel like Seattle once more, instead of the crazy hot place we were all transported too for a month or two.
hey ndfg – i would suggest sequins and false eyelashes on it
how was the reunion?
Ouch!
Would you permit some levity?
Arrrgh!
hey ndfg. take good care of it.
Was running a gallery in SF and called in sick to watch the World Series (we had plenty of coverage). Would have been on the bridge at that time.
hey annbseattle – portland was hit hard with that one also. i was very thankful i was on the coast.
holy moly emerson
i was working patrol 4pm start. spent many hours directing traffic since the power was down. was quite the nite.
20 miles north in Hercules. About 10-15 degrees cooler than Sac normally
Unfortunately for me, my summer job is life guarding at an outdoor pool, so it has been an extremely busy summer. One day, over 650 people came to the pool with over 120 in the water at one time. The rain makes work a whole lot easier.
Do I have a choice?
Oh, fork, I remember that one all too well, too!
I was under a table…
FWDiva
I stayed up late just trying to hear the latest. You must have been exhausted!
how kewl annb – do you dive at all?
Quick Reply. If Ya Can’t Be Good, Be Gone!

Lurves me some Steeldrivers!
*waves*
What happened? Want to trade scary eyeball stories?
yup – didn’t get a chance to check on baby girl at the babysitters until almost 11pm when i was finally cleared for my dinner break (3 hours late).
Well, yeah, but the alternative isn’t really viable.
Anyway…maybe there’s a piece of wood lying around that’ll speak to you of your friend in his prime…
FWDiva
hey larue
Nope, I am just a swimmer. Always wanted to try diving but my high school swim team did not have a diving part to it so I just stick with swimming free and back.
Oww, NDFG! The pirate look, eh?
so give it a try now annb. i’m sure there is an instructor in the seattle area who would love to have ya as a student.
Welcome to the Lake, AnnBSeattle
arrgggh
Larue, how do you do that ghost thing? Suz says hello to you , but you’re nowhere to be found on my screen?
suze & newton, ROFLMAO!
If i’d had time, sequins would have been a great option. I endured quite a bit of “Arggghhh, Matey!” from Baby Brother.
The reunion was great. One of the cheerleaders had saved, not only her cheerleading outfit, but lots of her high school clothes as well as her sister’s and brother’s outfits. Some brave souls who hadn’t gained as much weight as the rest of us modeled. It was a hoot. Especially the guy-tux-kinda-thing from early 70’s prom. Gray with lots of burgundy velvet trim, cuffs, lapels, inserts. Which was quite tasteful compared to the guy-tux-kinda-thing from another year that was a rust-colored leisure suit with lots of brown velvet trim, cuffs, lapels, inserts. I think my poor retina tore in premonition so that the eyepatch would protect me from some of the visual horror.
Welcome, AnnB
What part of town are ya in? I’m up north on the King/Sno county line.
FWDiva
Not sure if I have the time for diving right now, but maybe after college. And I am from the Southend, more towards Renton almost
hahahahahahahaha (grabbing inhaler) i rememer those tuxes ndfg. ohmystars
(((retina))) sending ya some warm healing positive thoughts hon
Night all.
Why haven’t I seen that before? Wonderful stuff. LOL
g’nite morris – hope you have some cooling ocean breezes soon
*buffing fingernails on sleeve* just a little thing i happened to run across
I’m so glad you’ve found a place.
Night, Morris.
Here’s to better weather.
FWDiva
Newbie here.
Hello FDL folks. This feels like the old Abuzz, before the trolls took over.
Had to share a grin with you, to return the favor of the Whoa Be-gone! Though it’s late, here’s a snarky vid for you all: http://tinyurl.com/lfxmhw
The supposition: Ben Franklin was the first Marxist?
Read the comments posted,too.
And thanks for reminding me of one my fave books: Coyote v Acme, Ian Fraser

Monarch chrysalis count on the dill plants: now 3.
G’nite!
g’night morris, when we’re on the threads again at the same time i wanna hear your scary eyeball story.
hey margot
Oh dear, an occasion for glue and glitter and you don’t use it? (Hope you’re better)
welcome to the Lake! Like hearing about the chrysalis count … butterfly habitat is one of my passions.
Hi Suz, hi all.
Welcome BleuZ00m, and don’t go yet!
hey margot!
hi and welcome bleuzoom
sigh, if i’d taken the time to use glue & glitter, i would have missed my entire reunion dinner instead of just half of it.
Uh oh, I had one of those rust suits in the early 70’s. Wonder if it’s the same one suit working it’s way around the world…like Johnny Carson’s Christmas fruitcake?
Seconded! Great stuff!
Welcome AnnB and BleuZOOm. You brought the booze, right?
Hey, BleuZ00m
welcome and stick around!
FWDiva
Thank you for posting this link, it gave me a great chuckle. I think that I will have to share that with my friends.
Sorry, no internet booze here =)
speaking of booze
Hello Suzanne,ndfl and newtonusr!
Sounds like someone put their glitz on tonight! Woohoo!
Talking ’bout rust suits.. a bud on FB said he was watching some old Johnny Depp movie, costuming: leisure suits. Now there’s a trend we don’t need to have return!
When I worked at a newsradio station a while back, one reporter’s wife was a seamstress extraordinaire. Lucky Ed. He actually wore the pastel leisure suits his loving wife made for him. A diff color everyday. If Ed wore the green one, we knew it was Thursday. Good thing it was radio.
That’s okay (it’s just pretend).
Whiskey by-products – do they mean puke?
Excellent video! I see a rosy future!
Thanks, AnnBSeattle!
Guessing most here are left coast folks? Yeah, it’s way past my bedtime here. Working on something, needed a break. Noodlin’ around..
hmmmm … allegedly it’s been in Cheerleader’s special attic (she built it just for her vintage clothing collection) since her brother graduated from HS. Maybe it is a quantum suit, that can be either here or there, depending on who need their eyeballs seared.
hahahahaha i rememer those days
where abouts are ya?
For some reason, the Pot Ale is intriguing…
Yeah, that vid just did it for me. Been working on the whole health care reform effort and with wave after wave of teabaggers screamin’ at you.. ya need a jolt. Of sharp satire, to rejigger one’s endorphins, IMHO. A bud from DEL sent it to me. Phew.
Thanks emerson! I haven’t seen all their vids, but they’ve got it.
Hi BleuZ00m, AnnB, welcome!
leisure suits. gah. my oldest who is now 20-something went thru a “vintage polyester” phase in her Jr Hi years. She and her Drama Club pals all wore that kind of stuff to their graduation, and the Crowning Moment of Awesome in their collective squirrelly just-finished-8th-grade psyches was that one guy had managed to find a powder blue leisure suit somewhere. Kids were awed, i think mostly because it made all the parents quite ill.
Hmm.. did I bring the booze? Lemme see.

i like to think of late late night as where we recharge our batteries so we can fight again in the morning. down time is important – especially down time with laughter and music (in my book at least).
Hey bleuZOOm, if you want to respond to a certain poster, just hit “reply” under their numbered post. Makes it easier to follow cuz sometimes we’ll have a few conversations going on simultaneously.
Aww skunk. the bottle of bubbly didn’t work. phooey! Somewhere I have saved all these little silly stick figure thingies the crew on Abuzz used to toss at each other.
If any of us here ever posted on Abuzz (NYT’s attempt at FB, before they realized what a gold mine it could have become) say hello, k?
Some of the chats shared there are in the frking Library of Congress. no foolin.
( am i a newbie er what??)
Thanks emerson!
bleuZOOm: “Hey, you just said to bring it, you didn’t say not to drink it.”
bleuZ00m, i’m in the Minneapolis area. A 2nd shift worker, so late-late is my natural habitat.
the former lurker known as commenter bleuz00m
It was 102F today, all day. Had to go water the garden and my potted herbs and ‘maters and such.
Whatchoo mean gone, Bueller? *G* *waves*
You still here? Wassup with teh eyes? *worries*
Oh yea, Suzanne. When the teapot tempests and tirades of the day can fade, finally.
Got off one zinger today, that stayed with me, after wrangling with a pol’s nonsense:
“We know he thinks his sh*t doesn’t stink. We just have to stay upwind..”
Makes me think of some of the Repug blowhards in DC.. but hey, they’re all over. DC sure doesn’t have a lock on them. Phew.
Uncle Harvey’s Plane, Just Cuz
Dibs!
Had to wear a powder blue tux for a buddy’s wedding. We took a picture on the church steps and NOBODY looked good.
whoa.. so, um, the bottle I brought got emptied instantly! Nice work! Thanks for the save, emerson!
‘maters must be happy if all the people are miserably hot.
It’s something about your posts. They show up later on my compiuter. Like, I’ll post something and then go back to the last post I read. Your post isn’t there THEN, but if I go back later it is there. So, how do you do that ghost thing?
I guess you could call me a lurker, Suzanne. But I just stumbled here, from a link another bud on FB fed me. He knew I needed a dose of roadrunner.
And thank you for the welcome, everybody.
“Ya never know whatcha gonna get when ya click on a tiny..” said Forrest
well don’t be a stranger. every nite at 10pmfdl, late late nite airs. most nights is it music but sat nites are always cartoons.
Emerson, long ago I was cursed by FDL because I railed against the powers that be and I was BELIGGERANT! Mean, and nasty.
And so, I’m moderated. And if Suz Blessed Be Her Soul don’t unmod me, or a few of the others, I get stuck in cyber space with my comments till they release me.
I’ve pleaded my case, I tire of doing so.
I’m moderated. Cuz I offended someone.
Go figger.
the retina in my right eye tore. There were some worries at first that it had actually detached so there was lots of phone calling to and between hospitals to find me an ER that had an ophthalmologist on duty, ended up going from ER to a branch office of my regular eye clinic and one of the doctors came in and saw me there. So i’m going to have in-office laser surgery to stabilize it on monday unless it gets worse (detaches) tomorrow.
What caused it? “It tends to happen to severely near-sighted people when they get to your age.” Harrummph.
Hello Larue! And thank you for Uncle Harvey! better than a fresh pot o coffee, to keep me buzzin here.
And where are your ‘maters sittin’ pretty in 102 o? I’m a newbie here and just getting to know a few you here.
btw, BleuZ0m, those of us who have the blue f in front of our names are on facebook.
Later dood.
‘Maters are droppin flowers again and suffering.
They do that when it gets up to above 95F or so.
I don’t care anymore, like The Band and Spike Jones, I don’t care how my garden sings, but I like the way it talks.

lookie here at what just got posted at fdl’s blip tv site: the teddy jr eulogy i missed earlier today
my fuchsias are blooming. at the end of august! i’m sure liking it – over 18 buds on one plant.
Oh my dear Minneswota Friend, so sorry to hear of this! Bein real sight challenged (20/600) I hear ya, and my wife is losin her right eye completely to something I forget.
Sent ya email late hippo birdy’s . . . hope ya got it.

Lord, WHAT A Fest! And The Pickin!
So I’ll not be ready till after festin . . . best to yer eyes, NDFG, and you, too . . . HEAL!
Ohhhh OK, so it’s like you’re on a :07 delay? I thought I was doing it somehow. *g* Good to know. I got kinda worked up myself today.
Well, at least you have very distinctive posts-easy to find.
read about john over at americablog’s retina problems. he was lucky he was in france – got excellent care and no run around from the health care professionals. one post he said he had to actually ask for the bill and they told him to pay it later since the cashier was gone for the day.
KILLIN me, with yer temps.
If I had yer temps, I could feed an entire village.
As it is, I can’t hardly cut our food bills except for basil and pesto.
Killin me . . . ;-)
whoa, sorry NDFG. Hope that goes smoothly on Monday. Never heard of that.
larue you will come back from fest all un-grumpy and with a smile on your face like last time. gonna have to work hard to find a harruummph.
Thank yew, yer too kind.
And bless ya . . . I railed, and now, I suffer blog wise in here.
But I choose to hang, cuz it’s where my head’s at for the most part.
And when I disagree, I let it be known.
‘Merica, goldammit!!!
And to think, I’m moderated, in THIS effin America?
Heh. Talk about yer double standards and hypocricy’s.
*G*
I’m gettin feisty ‘agin . . . but hey . . . ;-)
Thanks for all your dialogue . . . . always fun! *G*
ooh, that’s scary, ndfg! hoping tomorrow’s surgery will be the end of troubles? Sorry your doc was so.. well, blunt. Yeah, med schools do teach Cheeky 101, 102..
Bleu, I LOVE that Santa Cruz, CA based trio. Devil Makes Three.
I love the acoustic swing, be it gyspy, country, Texas or Hot Club Du France . . *G*
Damn I love yer vibe Suz Gal . . . but I allus got a harumph for da man and class struggles . . .
And yeah, I’ll grin and talk for weeks about the fun we had . . . you know us too well. *G*
Some day, Suz . . . I’m tellin ya, you’ll die and go to heaven this fest, and camping, and such.
*G*
Well, Pups
It’s been lovely. Thank you all for the company. See ya tomorrow!
G’night.
FWDiva
Hey Suz, I forgot to congrat ya for that one thread a while back that went record breaking?
I was in there . . . and I’m really, really sorry I never offer big congrats to ya for such a record.
Man that was kewl!! *G*
i feel lucky i’m in minnesnowta, all health care professionals kinda follow the Mayo Clinic model here, where they look to the patient’s good first. The main problem was finding a place that my 80-yr-old mother could drive me cause i wasn’t supposed to drive. And my closest cousin was outta town, Baby Brother was at a tractor pull (i found out after the fact) and couldn’t get reception cuz it was in a valley, blah blah.
FunnyD, hugs and sweel sleeps gal . . . . ;-)
Hey, we’re all on the front lines and I think you’re right, it could get ugly. So, we better have each other’s back cuz it’s gonna be a long fight (if we’re lucky,)
That was some thread.
Yer still up! *G*
Que????????
And howdy!! BTW! *G*
g’nite Funny D
I gotta get back to my stuff here. Deadlines, yeah yeah.
Sending you off with a smile from Philadelphia. Or as the locals here say it,
Fluffya.

Thanks again for the warm welcome friends! I’ll check in to see how the surgery went?
And I now have a week to find a cartoon to share. If you can find Frazier’s Coyote V Acme, ya gotta read ‘In the Plain Air,’ a short little 3-act playlet: a tale of a paint-off between Monet, Manet and Renoir.. and a rooster.
G’nite FDLers. Hmm.. Fiddlers. I like that! Yeah!
*waves g’night to funnydiva* sweet dreams, grrrlllfriend!
The record-breaker thread.
g’nite funny d
G’nite FunnyD! next time!

g’night BleuZ! great meeting ya, and stop back soon!
For a while there, I thought we were gonna hit 400! Really fun, and skippered by Suzanne, of course.

G’nite, Suzanne and Larue!
Ah. Yes, it was. EPIC! *G*
well, i think i’m gonna blunder off to bed. I can see just great out of my left eye, but relying on it all day … uffda. And i have no depth perception with only one functioning eye. Blergitty-blergh. And i have to sleep as close to sitting up as i can manage so the floaters all sink to the bottom before monday. arrrgghhh!
*waves g’night*
Nite Suz, Nite Pups . . . time to ramble to sandman . . .
Thanks to all for the family and comfotts, and educations.

Ok, last *huggssssss* ma’am . . . be well!
