he had his annual dental cleaning today (and had to have his back upper right molar extracted) and is back home. the vet sent him home with the good stuff :)

poor little guy – those back molars are way too big for his little mouth. on the other hand he was sedated and the entire cost was less than what my last visit to the dentist cost me for one tooth.

he came through it much better than i did :) he’s pretty cute when baked. i carried him up the stairs and set him down – he was all puppydogging me around the kitchen and did eat some soft food and drank water.

Ohio is kinda nice and warm but not terribly humid.
We have a pretty vining weed called silver lace (I don’t know the real name) that scents the evening air so sweetly.

i was driving after i dropped him off at the vets late yesterday afternoon – driving around and noticed the trees are starting to color starting about the 500′ level – the nights are getting cooler – down into the high 40’s at night now. there are geese on the bay – the season is starting to change.

I must have met her about 3 years after they took Amber. She started a foundation and attended to business, but I never heard her talk about her kid outside of that office. For some reason she started talking about it with me one day and about compartmentalizing as a way to go on. Said she reported to the office like anyone else doing a fulltime job, but then she wouldn’t take the job home. Made as much sense as anything.

Doing great. Dragged myself to the pool and got some sun. Was looking like whale belly.

I do not like our pool and the folks who hang out there. But got trapped into attending the annual pool party on labor day and signing up to bring food. Spent a couple of hours trying to figure out what. Looks like it’s gonna be either double ginger cake or tomatoes, basil and mozz.

So, I was noticing the other night when there were 2 late night chats going that there was an interest in a ”guys”[for lack of better definition] chat going on with bmaz hosting and the regular late night chat which is more personal, it worked really well. The people I count on for lawyer talk all came out on that post while the late night people [talking life stuff]were on this post. It was very cool. Was that an anomaly?
Because I think there’s room for both from what I saw.

Good idea, I will. It’s good to see different voices at late night. Not everyone wants the same conversation. And I’m partial to Suzanne’s late night talk time.

I think it’s fascinating to see the differences in how women communicate versus how men do. What makes it even more interesting is if you’re not sure about the gender of the poster.

There was a writer named Deborah Tannin (sp) who wrote very effectively on the subject about 20 years ago.

It’s also fascinating to watch women attempting to adopt male styles of communication in business. I’ve great sympathy for where that comes from, but it generally doesn’t work well.

Last Saturday there were 357 posts. The reason was that almost continuously there were 2-3 separate and distinct conversations happening simultaneously. One is usually music-based, others can be cooking, politics, gardening, or intimacies between especially close posters. Some travel through each.

Pretty amazing actually.

It is interesting. Just seeing the change in how commenters related to Digby when they found out her gender was interesting, to say the least.

Absolutely agree Sunny. The women I’ve worked with and for who were most effective IMO realized the old boy network was nothing to strive for. Life experience certainly helped there.

I generally don’t try and second guess the gender of a poster but over time it gets pretty obvious from the words and subjects of interest. And I’m pretty sure that the majority of Suzanne’s posters are female. Not all, but the majority.
On bmaz’s post it was pretty obvious that they were mostly male. And it wasn’t a normal post so obviously they’re lurking, wishing they could find a conversation that didn’t involve personal stuff. IMO.

music can be very empowering – finding a song that motivates almost always makes an unpleasant task bearable for me. i have certain songs that have carried me through hard times in the past and i know will do so in the future.
