Urge for Going – Joni Mitchell
Could always be doing bettah, but, I’m doing great…! ;-)
hey mr why – joni is always welcome ear candy – thank you
Oh, those flying monkeys — scared the pants off (then little) MrCE! I loved it!
hey ce – those flying monkeys still give me the heebee-jeebees
I still love her — many thanks!
Hi Chris, Suz, CT
I liked the flying monkeys. I was scared to death of the witch in Snow White (Disney).
hey margot – how’s ohio tonight?
Did anyone else ever want to grow up to be a flying monkey?
*laughing* hey mac – i will admit to wanting glenda the good witches’ outfit and dorothy’s ruby slippers.
Aloha, Margot!
The movie that scared me the most was “THEM” — giant insects that ate humans. Some horrible late night babysitting led me there. As an adult, the film that did me in was seeing the 1930’s movie “Freaks.” I could not believe the ending.
I knew as a child that the flying monkeys were symbols of evil incarnate. Damn those artists/academics who chose to raise children!!!!!!!!!
Wouldn’t it be nice to click one’s heels and be home in a flash…? ;-)
and i loved (and still love) the transition from black and white to color and then back to black and white in kansas at the end.
made oz much more believable than kansas was to my little mind.
hey open hope – how ya doing tonight?
*shrudder* even the title gives me the willies – and the noise the ants made…
I’m thinking that you lived in story books, like me. I wanted to be in the fairy tale illustrations of medieval cities.
O, when will the self-righteous humans stop their specism!
I enjoyed seeing Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, the one Walt Disney patterned the Magic Kingdom(s)after…!
My wife just reported that Ted Kennedy died.
spent a lot of my childhood lost in books.
That mad Ludwig — on my list.
OMG, I’ll be back…
it was just reported on my local news but i can’t find anything confirming that yet online
it’s on wiki already
Suz, how’s the Oregon coast doing these days…? Friday nite, on a lark, I took the family to see the lava flow… It was spectacular…!
Per the Wikipedia: “Since May 2008, Kennedy has been battling a malignant brain tumor, which has greatly limited his appearances in the Senate. Kennedy passed away on August 26, 2009.”
Oh no . . . . damn.
Oh noes…That is heartbreaking…! R.I.P. Teddy…!!!
Very, very sad.
how cool ct – oregon is just wonderful
i love living on the coast.
RIP
I looked first on google.news, nothing. The CNN.com, nothing. Then the Wikipedia, and there it was. Amazing.
ABC News:

Is there a layman’s interpretation of what you just said? Because I’m afraid I rejected all that shit down to worshipping dirt. Of course, those were the days when wise white men said animals had no emotions and fish couldn’t feel pain. And housewives did better on amphetamines. Or seconal. Whatever.
Hey, Late Night Pups! Hey, Suz!
Buster Kitten is Great Hunter of the Night. I heard a scuffle on my back patio and he bounded in the door–carrying a giant, stunned mouse. I’ve handled mice in a controlled environment, and this one was a big ‘un. B kept an eye on it while I grabbed the “stick” that locks my patio door and dispatched Mr/Ms Mus. Good thing I hadn’t taken out all the recycling…I put it in an empty cereal box and disposed of the whole thing in the dumpster.
Great Hunter of the Night was then praised with greenies and fed his late evening tuna. His humble servant is now getting over her freak-out. His Highness is calmly performing his post-prandial ablutions.
So, is culinary dried sage OK for “smudging” away spirits?

RIP Senator Kennedy, you were one amazing and very accomplished person. CNN covering it right now.
bmaz is working on a post right now for the breaking sad news about senator kennedy. i’ll let everyone know when it is up.
hi suz et al–just a drive-by, heading off early tomorrow morning to MI (taking 90-year-old mother to visit the old family homestead). g’nite
Ted Kennedy dies of brain cancer at age 77
it’s almost instantaneous. i’m seeing august 25, though; wonder which it is?
Miss Ted already. If Obama has any class at all, he takes the baton, writes the kind of bill Teddy would write, and name it the Ted Kennedy Health Act of 2009.
Oh crap!!! Ted’s dead?? Before they could figure out his replacement?!
He was a complicated man. I wish his wishes for Healthcare could prevail.
Oh dear. Rest in Peace, Teddy. Thank you for your service and for fighting for ordinary Americans like me.

Few in the public eye and civil service lost SO much in their lifetime, and gave us so much of themselves.
The Liberal Lion Sleeps Tonight.
Bless him for all he gave to us.
Namaste, Senator Ted Kennedy, and thanks.
It was the 26th East Coast time.
dammitalltohell
a sad sad day
Hear, hear.
My goodness… LL, it’s been monthes since I’ve crossed threads with ya…! How’s Virginny doing these days…?
Oh captain, my captain.
Good night and good luck Senator Kennedy.
-G
very well said larue
If anyone is interested, I think Jane’s event in Virginia is airing on CSPAN now. Jim Moran is speaking.
Hey CT :-) All’s well here, just very sad right now about Sen. Kennedy. How’s by you?
I had such hope that the bear of a man would be able to bring sense to the health care debate. I’m so sorry his time ran out. My sympathies to his family, to Caroline, and to all the others in that large extended family who mourn. I hope they raise a glorious noise in celebration of his life.
Hey LoudounLib, we talking Loudoun County, VA????
I’m in Round Hill.
thanks emerson – cspan regular or cspan1 or cspan2?
A deeply flawed person, to be sure…but he was a powerhouse Senator who did so much once he got out of John and Bobby’s shadow.
I got a fiver says that Rushbo makes a lot of tasteless jokes tomorrow about it, though. Because to him, showing respect is only permitted when Republicans pass away.
not gonna take ya up on that spotts. rushbo hasn’t got a decent bone in his body
Hey neighbor! I’m a little east of you…
statement from kennedy family boston globe
sorry Suz-CSPAN 1
Whassup neighbor?
Heh, small world.
A little east???
Purcellville, Hamilton, Leesburg???
ok, now they’ve fixed it (one instance at least). very sad day
Ashburn
I’m building a home on my lot…! It’s going slower than initially anticipated, but, it’s coming along… Still working on my foundation, for those whom are keeping track…! ;-)
sadly off to bed. nite all
Oh that’s great, CT! How exciting :-) I’m happy for you.
I will miss him greatly. I was always enthralled listening to hin speak in the senate. Not to be cold blooded, but now is the time to wave the bloody shirt in the cause of the public option.
g’nite spurious.
A belated hello to Suz et al, and thank you Suz — glad you’re here tonight while we all absorb this sad news…
Aloha spurious…
bmaz has the sad news upstairs
Have newt or nahant been around earlier tonite, Suz…?
so good to see you! It’s just not complete if you’re not here. I hope you’ve been busy, but just enough, and enjoying your life. skeptic
I had just now checked and noticed that they did.
nahant has been on vacation on the wrong coast
Thank you skeptic, and so nice to see you too! Flipping back and forth between threads here…life is good, and I hope it’s all good for you too :-)
Howard Dean on CSPAN 1 now.
Careful… LL is on that coast…! ;-)
lol ;-)
I hope we can support Robert Kennedy Jr. He’s the next forceful voice of the Kennedy’s.
The next generation will pursue.
he went to mass when hurricane bill was headed to mass and then went to maine where bill went after mass
i bet nahant is irish :)
Uh oh. Vacation from hell? Sorry Nahant, Been there, done that. It sucks!!!!!
Thanks.
Asshole Terry led out of VA Town Hall to loud chants of “Take him out!”
I had a scare there too… Felicia was headed straight for me til she died off and veered north… I’d battened down my tent and was pretty worried for a bit there…! ;-)
OFG, are you still here? I was in the vicinity of your ‘hood a couple of weeks ago, driving around Bluemont…
Awesome…was that the one in Reston?
Hey Dood… Long time no see too…! ;-)
McAuliffe(sp?)…?
yeah. The clown only seemed to have about 10 people with him. Crowd is about 60/40 dems it seems to me. Couple hundred people. Moran handled things well and came loaded with props of what the bills actually say. Smart way to operate.
Sorry-Randall Terry.
Thanks emerson, good to know — I live in Frank Wolf’s district (ack!) and couldn’t make it over to Reston tonight.
anytime LL. Dean and Moran taking questions.
I have it on now — wow, cops patrolling the audience…
Wonder if my wingnut brother went over there tonight. He lives a few blocks away. Will have to investigate ;-)
how’s the bay area tonight emerson?
It was noisy the last two days, Suz. They were rebuilding my fence and repairing the garage wall by my patio. It looks much better now. *g*
got pictures yet?
Well…if I knew how to transfer them from my e=mail to a flickr thingy, I could show you the patio, but I’m not very astute in that area. *g*
Flickr is super-easy, emerson — just upload from your computer, no muss no fuss ;-)
Smooches Suzanne.
The first time I ever saw the myth put on a Main Stream Site for me to enjoy.
So sad it got Preempted by Ted Kennedy kicking the bucket, dammit.
thanks busted – smooches back at’cha dood
and yeah sad sad nite
Well it’s way past my bedtime, even though I’m on vaca this week…good night all, and thank you Suz; and go with God, Senator Kennedy. You will never be forgotten, and we will carry on with your causes.
g’nite ll
evening, suz
hey ppd
Hey emerson
the lurking mod found this and posted it in the comments in bmaz’s post:
Teddy, where he belongs.
Nine July, Two Thousand & Eight
We are all hitting the Streets on Sept. 13th, right? For the most important message of the Obama administration. My family will be there, regardless. Winging it at this point.
i’ll be here at the lake helping out – i don’t hit the streets so well nowadays with the fake knee and bad back.
Oh, sorry to here about the Kneesles and the back. I too, had a bad back until I launched myself into a freefall ending in a slam against a railing. Still have ugly marks on my chin from blunt force trauma….but it cured my back pain. Been 3 weeks and I can still wiggle my hips.
Want to come to Openhope’s Clinic for Extreme Gravity Alignment?
Slam,bam,thank you ma’am?
15 years of pain and one freefall cured it. But my knee’s not out of the woods….took a bad hit.
Sorry you have to go through that. I shouldn’t be so cocky that I’m done.
*laughing*
i’m such a klutz – i figure i’ve fallen enough times that if slam bang were to work for me, it already wudda. sorry about your knee.
time for me to head out – g’nite everyone and thanks for all your comments tonight.
Aloha, Suz…!
What did I just see….?
