  • Good news.
  • But…but…we have the best care in the world.
  • All the president’s zombies.
  • Prosecuting torture?
  • Just don’t call them right-wing extremists.
  • Sign of the times.
  • Shrill.

President Pol Pot Obama now killing civilians in Pakistan.

A fresh report by the New York Times revealed on Friday that Blackwater USA has been contracted to work with the unmanned Predator drones that carry out assassinations and terrorize villages in eastern and southern Afghanistan and the border regions of Pakistan.

…

All the more, the security firms’ deployment in Pakistan is in clear violation of international law, as the US has never declared war on the South Asian state.

NYT article.

The expanding axis of evil: Nixon, Bush x 2, Pol Pot Obama.

Comparing Obama to Pol Pot is quite the stretch. Yeah, go ahead and rationalize the strike through as not comparing. Why not just compare him to Hitler along with all the reichwingnuts? Are you old enough to even remember the Killing Fields?

But O promised to do that in his campaign. It’s one of the few campaign promises he’s kept.

Finishing war off is just more grist for the mills, I fear that this is a continuation of the campaign. It’s all about defeating elected gov’t so they can get back America. (A line which I particularly enjuoy, since America is a continent and we’ve been freeloading the southern part of it for aeons.)

This, imo, is just attention seeking, just like the JFK and 9/11 shit. Sorta like a 13yo saying “fuck” to his parents for the first time.

Morning all, I found this article linked through Indian Country Today. It was an attempt by Judge Napolitano attempting to conflate government run healthcare with the atrocious healthcare provided by IHS in conformity with the treaty obligations with the tribes.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,540965,00.html
I actually know several of the people interviewed in this piece. But what the thesis of the piece is erroneous. Healthcare on the reservation is an abomination. It is a function of a lack of funding by congress and also by the conditions on the reservation. Life on the reservation is such there are few medical professionals who would choose to live there. What they wind up with are those who could not hold a job elsewhere. Funding has been viewed as a way to make up shortfalls elsewhere. Under the Bush admin al projects Native American have received the short end of the stick.

Hope you’re right. But the nym suggests to me it’s done with the intention of getting back to those Good Old Days when 9/11 was the answer to and reason for everything.

On the link to Right Wing Extremeists: WTF Frum is as reckless as those he’s chastising – “Rich’s pieces comes on the heels of a column from conservative David Frum, who accused the “reckless right” of courting violence. “Nobody has been hurt so far. “We can all hope that nobody will be,” Frum said. “But firearms and politics never mix well. They mix especially badly with a third ingredient: the increasingly angry tone of incitement being heard from right-of-center broadcasters…. We have to tone down the militant and accusatory rhetoric. If Barack Obama really were a fascist, really were a Nazi, really did plan death panels to kill the old and infirm, really did contemplate overthrowing the American constitutional republic — if he were those things, somebody should shoot him. But he is not.”

Psych 101: The power of suggestion “Whatever you do DON’T think of an elephant.” Anyone who’s listened to Limbaugh or Beck knows that they don’t come out and say it most of the time but in their rants imply what the “true liberal agenda” is: World Socialism, their listeners hear blah-blah-blah-liberals are the enemy-blah-blah-blah and react to lizard brain impulses. So Frum distances himself from the ignorant, unwashed winger mob because he is a Village Intellectual by putting it as he does. Obama? A drug addict!? A sex pervert!? He is not! Then at the next mob curbside meet and greet a sign appears “Keep the drug addicted sex pervert off my health care” and Frum tut-tuts the republican base. Then huffs and puffs when Rachel calls him on it.

“All I’ve seen is the down loaded copy of Obama’s gift certificate, nobody’s shown me the real thing so for all I know the birthers may have a point that he was born in Kenya. But he is the President and he wouldn’t be if he wasn’t born in the USA, right?”
See how it works?

The best and brightest, we are so screwed.

Maybe I was alone in my ignorance, but a few months back I asked (and was told) why someone here called Paul Krugman “shrill.” I now know the origin and the intent, but for anyone who doesn’t and is astonished by the term, here’s a rundown:

Frum is not among the ‘best and the brightest.’ He’s a little rich kid (now grown up) who got where he was by connections, like Marc Ambinder.

It’s not hard to prod people who favour violence as problem resolution to turn that violence against those they see as threatening their world view. The killers of Dr Tiller and Mr Johns are a personification of a patriarchal and racist ideology.

Can’t we all just get along? Like the Serb & the Ukrainian who produced Milla Jovovich? I’d say it’s worth it. She’s a super-hero, you know. Think of the possibilities.
