Carolyn Wonderland – Misunderstood (live) or
Misunderstood (music video)? My first thought was to feature the Carolyn Wonderland music video tonight. It has an excellent audio track but the lip syncing is pretty obvious and you don’t get to see her actually singing. The live video shows her singing and has much more of her slide work and picking not to mention a great energy but the audio isn’t as good as the music video’s and her windblown hair hides her face. I figured the only thing to do is post them both and ask you which one you would have chosen and why.
What’s on your mind?

Hola, Suz and Pups!
hey funny – how’s seattle tonight?
Guess it’s still a party downstairs!
How is everyone this evening? I’m just getting caught up with all of today’s posts…but not the comment threads.
And someone just left a stinker in Cynthia Kouril’s Kennedy thread. A-Hole.
FunnyWheelieDiva
great music. great picking.
Cooling off nicely tonight, thanks!
FWDiva
Hiya Pups!
Well, what a day and evening here.
Hey!
And Hi again Suz!
hey mary mcc
funny – yeah its a stinker but its not as bad as the ones only the backstage crew has seen. oy
Well, then, a round of beverages for the mods and back-stage crew, on me. Prosit!
Yeah, bet it’s a little exciting there in backstage land!
FWDiva
how’s everyone doing tonight? anyone have any guesses on what the fri news dump is gonna be and how many banks go under?
You know what Suz? To answer the question in yer post, I say “close your eyes” for one, ’cause music is about the ear.
After that, YOW! The top video is better IMO. Raw is real. Produced is puppet. Both good, but I like the live version.
Just my opinion!
thanks kelly – i was hard pressed to choose between them. to my ear, the music video has a better audio track but yeah live is really fucking awesome.
Hola Suze and Pups… Well, I’m unemployed in five days. Sux. More time for blogging? LOL… (with a sigh).
Good night, folks.
(((jo fish)))
and there are all those utubes to surf through and find nuggets (trying to make lemonade here)
Woodstock.
g’nite bct
hey ce how’s ohio tonight?
Sounds like be in front of the curtain is sometimes an okay thing.
We’ve gone from Dreadzepplin to Beach Boys listening here. Maybe it’s the weather. Nice tripping down memory lane. Why does Don’t Worry Baby make me tear up? Still relevant maybe. But, so many years between then and now. Y’all know what I mean?
Night, BCT
Sorry I missed ya downstairs. Hope your panel is a big success.
FWDiva
True true… and now I can get back to being a blog pest… besides, I love lemonade, so thanks for that!
Nighty nite, bct. Don’t dream of doctors or trolls.
Hell, yea. I am just glad to still be on the planet.
hey demi – has it cooled off yet?
The bottom one does have better ear candy value; production-wise. It really does. It’s cleaner and has production value out the bazoo.
But the, oh how do you want to say it, liveliness, the raw ness of the top one is just GREAT! She REALLY MEANS it!
But:
Talking about music is like dancing about architecture. Somebody of stature said that, not me, but I’m too lazy to google it.
woohoo!
Sorry, Jo!
So very sorry! I know how it feels. Sux. Can ya get yerself on unemployment right away? If your state’s rules are anything like mine, get that claim filed the same day you’re officially terminated. Even if you’re getting some severance or pay in lieu of notice. WA doesn’t pay out the first week of one’s claim…so the sooner the better.
(((((JoFish)))))
FWDiva
Yes, in the last fifteen minutes. Thankfully. And, a little breeze too.
Thanks for asking.
thanks kelly. i try to avoid posting two videos in one post (not that one could tell that this week) so the music is the focus.
so you wudda chosen live – thanks kelly
We had a storm this evening that blasted limbs out of trees! What a night. Today we had a two hour orientation session with new grad students — I can’t believe the new semester has started.
You know what? We’re all doing just fine. And, still smart and hot stuff. All us girls here. Attitude has a lot to do with it, I think.
Hey planet girl! Got poem? Would love to read another one.
Signed -
Greedy Kelly
but not a tornado ce?
We’ve been having fun all summer long.
Oh, I’m getting sentimental.
Don’t know yet… my state’s unemployment rules are a bit strange, but I’m going to go check it out next week.
Meanwhile, here’s a Woodstock gem.
Let me go scare one up.
Third gear, hold on tight.
No, not tonight, but YES last week. Shaker Heights was a wreck! Trees down everywhere. In fact, just like the day my baby boy was born on August 4, 1981. Tornadoes all over little ole Cleveland Heights!
what kelly said
Oh…they don’t have a handy online website you can walk through? That’s a shame. Guess I’m actually kinda lucky here in WA…
yikes! saw my first tornado in lawton oklahoma back in the 90’s. figure i don’t need to see a second.
demi – margot was saying the other night that she had just gotten home from a beach boys concert at the fair.
tis summertime and that means beach boys music :)
Daughters
Their eyes flash with vigor and depth.
Each is brilliant and strung with an intelligence
superior to the smallness of the town that holds them.
The younger lank girl quivers like a race horse waiting
to be let loose on an unsuspecting world.
The older, a round black haired beauty,
moves to depths that would
give a lesser human the bends.
Their speech gives them away as relations.
So separate, so different,
but sisters in the truest sense.
It is only a matter of time
until the horizon is theirs
and I am left with the memory
of this reading.
My guess is always the same: South Carolina born-again thug freak caught sliding down the Appalachian Trail with a South American senorita bonita or South Carolina thug freak advocates wingnuts use real sabres on Dem congress menbers at the re-enactment of the Battle of Waterloo at a Town Hall near you.
oh my stars mary mcc
First I’ve heard of Carolyn Wonderland. She has a great voice. I’ve been listening to Janis Joplin quite a bit recently. Nice to know her spirit lives on.
This music is taking my head right back to junior high. At my school it was, like, beach or grease? Being a nice little blonde Methodist, you know which I was. Had to hide the bikini in the bottom of my bag and change into it at the beach. Mother just would not allow. Santa Monica Pier. I can smell the fries and cotton candy and salty air.
What Suz said, Mary McC.
Beautiful. Truly. Beautiful.
FWDiva
hey ratfood – i first heard her on kpig radio. she really is special i think.
hey emerson – how’s the east bay tonight?
Oh. Mary. The love and depth of understanding.
Would you consider writing some more? Like, now?
Such a heart you have.
Their website is not bad, but they don’t show I have any earnings over five quarters (which I do, they have not updated the info) so I have to make an appearance in person. -sigh- Gubmint. LOL!
Here’s a gem… Pink Floyd and the Wizard of Oz. Nicely done.
We are watching this:
http://www.history.com/content/woodstock
oh jofish – nice find…
Hiya Emerson… wish I could have made it to SF before losing my crew badge, I could have used a west coast trip… ;-)
i saw that on history channel earlier this week. love the music and learned a few things.
I didn’t stop to read ‘em, but the lingerie boutique I shopped at this afternoon had a whole bulletin-board collage with original Woodstock news clippings and stuff. I’ll have to track down this documentary…
FWDiva
You mean it wasn’t like Diane Lane and Viggo Mortensen in “A Walk on the Moon?”
don’t they give ya so long to fly as ‘crew’ after they let ya go? seems like that is the least they could do
Wow! Brava.
I really need to start writing again. And I really want to start painting again.
OK…make ya a deal…I’ll start singing again if you start one or the other, or both, again!
FWDiva
hey sunny – how ya been?
It was really a Sha Na Na concert, everybody else was a warm up act…
Maybe we ought to send Obama a copy of this song. He sort of promised this in his campaign, and now…????
Anytime’s a good time, Jo. New doors do open. *g*
Yogurt of Good Intention
The children, the little girls,
their father, their mother
were inclined towards happiness.
The young parents wrapped their
arms around the world and gave
the girls their best.
Which was not good enough.
The steady gaze of the father dropped
and he died a long death of mythical proportion.
It took forever. It took no time at all.
The mother became a wavering gauze of indecision
but always kept yogurt in the refrigerator.
Some how the children would get enough to eat.
The daughters grew taller, shattered.
Mended.
Shattered.
Mended.
One afternoon, someone counted six containers
of good intention in the box.
The crackling plastic covers were still glued down.
Opaque, the view beneath teamed with trapped life
and expectation.
Nope, cause I fly for an “express” carrier, they don’t give us shit, except a swift kick in the ass. Even ALPA (our union) doesn’t do jackshit.
hahahaha
i used to see sha-na-na all the time back in the late 70’s early 80’s
fuck
*chills*
wow
Wow. I’ve just been sitting here going “whoa”
And just I realized; hey –
Am I seeing some Chincoteague and Assateague in that poem?
Dedicated to Barack and Rahm…
Fuck yeah.
I was just amazed to hear they were playing at our county fair. It was such fun, harmonies still gorgeous.
the rahm song
At Woodstock they looked so retro, funny to think the songs they were doing were only about ten years old at the time.
hey margot – how ya doing?
trapped life
and expectation.
Oh, shit. I feel like that these days.
Let’s write and paint and dance. Am singing, but it’s not enough.
I’m like Rocko, I want more.
Aren’t those islands?
LOL!
A far more intellectual version of every Hair Band Song evah! Love it… LMAO!
Off the coast of VA, iirc.
FWDiva
So happy for you. What fun. Isn’t harmony what we are striving for?
Thank you for the beautiful poem. Our daughter moves out next week with love in her eyes and a song in her heart for her young man.
Her mother embraces her joy, dumbfounded by her choice. “Well, we all needed a first husband.”.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDxaLLwyr6I
;)
I have been to the outer banks of NC. (I was born in Winston Salem and have a ton of relatives in NC.) Similar.
Hey Pups We made it to the other side of the continent!! Slight delay at take off by 1.5 hours but hell we got here! How are ya all doing? Steamy here … Now I remember why I moved to California…
Yep, in third grade I read Misty of Chincoteague and the nail-biting sequel, Stormy, Misty’s Foal.
hey nahant *waving*
Yes – but “Stormy” and “Misty’s Foal”
I was catching equine and feminine together in yer poem, and that link was my, um, link to equine and feminine in me head.
In the story, the ponies have to swim, madly, from the islands to the mainland.
hey open hope – how ya doing tonight?
Daughters are so like us and a mystery at the same time.
“Well, we all needed a first husband.”
That’s hysterical. Thank you.
Anna Nalick anyone? I was introduced to Anna’s music by the late Steve Gilliard (the song was Catalyst). I think this is my favorite off this albumn.
Anyone who can use “Lambent” in a song is okay with me…LOL! Love her voice too, and her lyrics are pretty good.
I remember now. Maybe not the books but the facts.
Pretty good here. May have my (nutso)biting cat turned around… the wonder of water sprayers.
Is the mouth feeling better?
never heard of her before jofish. nice very nice
Glad you made it safely, Nahant.
That would be a long wave across this great land of OURS!
How is Jin treating you Suz?
mouth is ok. back is finally ok from all that time reclined back in the dentist’s chair.
Wasn’t that a line from “First Wive’s Club” (funny, funny movie)?
I’m glad you’re ok!
That looks a lot more recent. I just read that they are still performing. I think they only have one original member.
Suz, you were not misunderstood . . . *G*
Nice clips, they both rawhk.
That gal has chops without picks on her right hand that recall open handed lap dulcimer strumming.
And more.
She’s good!!!
Nice picks!!!! Thanks!
LOL! That’s how I knew! I read almost all the Marguerite Henry novels as a horse-mad kid. With the original Wesley Dennis artwork, natch.
Many of the newer covers, at least, have been re-done, and, IMO, not nearly the artistic quality.
FWDiva
Per Teddy Davis, “Dem-GOP Split on Health Care Goes Beyond Public Option,” ABC New, 8/19/09:
The insurance industry has agreed to this and they still oppose it. Why do Republicans hate Americans?
Don’t remember. But, yikes, my girl is getting hitched soon and I hope she never has to experience a divorce. To be honest.
hey larue – how’s your ‘maters?
Damn you FWD! those Marguerite Henry novels ultimately OUTED me, then as NOW!
ARRGH!
thanks demi… we were worried when they brought the plane back to the gate for a small, minor repair!! eek nothing like a repair to set up your expatiations about the flight… But it was uneventful if not long..
how you doing demi?
They hate Americans because they voted in a black president and voted out the assholes. Simple really.
lobster rolls and blueberry pie … go for it!
Someone stole my tomatoes. The pots and all. Fuckery. Tomato Fuckery.
A little scary that I remember fiction I read forty years ago.
*G*
just because they can/DO!
Well, sorry, but look at it this way…
There’s more light to read by when yer out!
FWDiva
fuckers! spitting may they get blight mary mcc
Pretty well. Going camping end of next week, but just at the beaches down here. CA is raising the rates, from $25 to $35. Glad I made reservations months ago and paid then.
Getting the yawnies here, tho.
Kind words and thoughts, and big hard hugs to all.
Damn Bastards! That sucks.
Oh and don’t forget the Fried Ipswich clams… yummy looking for to some good ole New England sea food!!
i like richard thompson – dad’s gonna kill me
Night, Demi
Have fun campin’!
FWDiva
Nite Demi!
Right off your driveway? Shit! I remember when someone stole a pot plant out of my backyard. And, it was growing in the ground. Totally pissed me off.
g’nite demi
Night demi.
Got my freelance work done, shuttin’ down too. See y’all.
I am shocked!
g’nite ratfood
evening, suzanne
Like that, Jo! Have to check her out.
hey ppd – how’s the southbay tonight?
evening, nahant
Night, Ratfood!
Hi, PPDCUS.
FWDiva
Where in the southbay, PPDCUS?
I’z originally from Sunnyvale…
FWDiva
Unfortunate it’s too late for fiddleheads…
Suckin. Damned neighbors have 4 plants we GAVE them when we over bought, and now THEY are giving us softball sized ‘maters . . . so it got round. *G*
We got them into growing two years ago.
Somehow, they got better shit than we do . . .
I guess I’m gonna have to ehnance the soil in the little plot in the ground, and NOT plant ‘maters or nightshades next spring.
Oh well, I LIKE cukes and onions . . . *sigh* ‘Maters in buckets only, I guess . . .
Hey nahant! When didja get in? How is it?
I’m doing great!!! It’s been a strange week. I took a total freefall down a steep set of 5 stairs slamming myself onto a 48″ high partial wall with wood trim. Somehow the main impact was a glancing of the chin with my right arm up in perfect alignment. I beat the shit out of myself but it cured my chronic back pain [12 years]. F$%king awesome!!! Rough, but awesome.
hey ppd how ya doing over there in Salinas ?
Cut to the chase Mary, will ya? *G*
We got in at 11pm local time and to my sisters at 1:06 according to my garmin…
Gravity Chiropractic…who knew!
FWDiva
evening, FunnyDiva
Miracle!
Yer kiddin me??!?!?!?!?
WTF?
Who? Who would even HAVE the motive?
WTF, did they think it was POT or something?
BASTIDS!!!!!
I’d take that trade-off, openhope! Back and tooth pains are the worst.
That sucks. We’re getting our crab pots stolen and raided like never before. But to steal a person’s tomato pots is pure evil!
oh crap and whew openhope. i usually fuck something up when i fall and not fix anything – gonna have to try it your way next time
Cheeky monkey! You’re too much hunny -
Amazing – an accidental adjustment.
thanks suz & nahant — everything down here is going well … finally got my laptop back up and running
Is that storm heading your way? I heard might hit Mass coast?
MODS: Please change my user name to FunnyGravityDiva!
Thanks
Another Strawberry Music Fest sitch that I was at with heroes I thought I’d NEVER see.
I’ve seen Thompson twice at that fest, since Fall ‘01.
Damn he’s great . . . . . *G*
And I sure love that fest. Comin up SOON too!
http://www.strawberrymusic.com
A pickers fest, a listener’s fest . . . *G*
There are homeless peeps living in the greenbelt behind us. I sort of think they did it. If so, I am fine with it.
About an hour south of S.J.
Well time for me to see if I can shift my clock to local time 2:20 am… shit morning is going to come early(:>))
Nite Pups … more updates as time permits… we are going to be busy having FUN!!!
I am going to say goodnight! See you all tomorrow.

We shall see… haven’t experienced one in a long time!!
g’nite east coast nahanter
hey firepups! the straw poll results from Netroots Nation are sure making the rounds:
http://original.antiwar.com/ju…..-what-war/
antiwar.com? what a queer name for a website. it is as if they oppose all imperial wars, even when a Democratic administration and a Democratic Congress are waging them.
raw numbers:

but thats strange, because in 2007 the results were a little different:

If I recall from that time, most who were ‘concerned’ about the war then wanted it ended, over, troops out now, all that jazz.
what a difference a few years and a chance to drive the war machine can make.
a great wedge issue it was, though!
g’nite mary mcc
Oh, no, please don’t!
I’ve seen the damn steps at your place, Suz! Not worth it!
FWDiva
night nahant – have a great time
JJW… LA Freeway. Great song. Love some Jerry Jeff!
“Say good bye to the landlord for me
sonsa bitches always bore me…”
Damn! We really suck!
hey emerson – how’s everything up north?
135 mph winds in the Carribean, a weatherboy said. No hang-gliding!
I’m
multitaskingunable to follow a thread tonight, sorry Suz. Hi;)Night, Mary McC and Nahant! Sleep tight!
FWDiva
FWDiva – a HAH! I knew I had something in the archives.
A – Do you know Gregory Lyons in Seattle? Chef and pip; he’s a nut.
B – Do you sing Adele in Fledermaus?
Mary, there are homeless on the Bike Trail here, too. (we’re off it by two blocks)
But WTF, they couldn’t take the ‘maters, they took the whole pots?
That’s too fuckin wierd . . . . . just too fuckin wierd.
And they should KNOW better than to steal.
If they did that, yer lookin at MORE issues . . . GRRRR!
Anyone seen “Inglorious Bastards” yet? Or “District 9″? wondering if a movie is in my future if I don’t fly this weekend.
Used to drive the 101 South down to SLO town…went to Poly. Can get a little warm in the summer. Love the rolling Cali hills, though!
FWDiva
la song
We live by the same code of honor homeless or not. What’s next, they need your car? Did you see the new surge in law enforcement making it illegal to feed the homeless? They actually arrested Food Not Bomb people handing out vegan meals to people.
Sorry, can’t link. My son was dating a young woman from Food Not Bombs so it’s attracted my interest.
Kind of like ” Don’t feed the squirrels”, only different.
Leider, nicht, am bidens.
I’d like to, though! (both). Fledermaus is a fun show. And I loooove food!
FWDiva
Yeah, I love her voice. She’s had some commercial success with “Breathe (2AM)” from that same albumn…. I’m hoping for another one soon. Love to see her in concert.
Love this east bay weather. Perfect sleeping weather. Overcast til noon , then beautiful sunshine and cool breeze til 7 pm and cool evenings. Whatja reading?
geez openhope that is so forking wrong.
Looks like the east coast may dodge the bullet on this one
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at3.shtml?5-daynl
Ach!
Where have you been all me blogging life? Und habe ich viel Essen fur dich.
Oh my, Suze that’s really awesome. Love it!
SLO is great … we changed the lyrics to that old song, “do you know the way … to Monterey.”
Yeah, I’m already trying to figure out how to duplicate it with bungees and head gear. Extreme gravity realignment.
A friend of ours had the same thing happen rolling a Winnabaggo in the Alaskan tundra. I listened to his story for 4 years feeling jealous.
He was in advertising. Maybe we can work out a back clinic as soon as co-ops are the Health bill compromise.
Good news for nahant. Hey, I thought he was Hurricane Bill?
In response to sporkovat@163
The folks at antiwar.com, e.g., Justin Raimondo, are NOT democrats or even progressives. Rather they are dedicated libertarians, which makes them pretty much like progressives until matters of economics and/or social safety nets come into the discussion.
Glad to hear you’re feeling better, Suze
Ok, clearly one of us has to find a cheap airfare to where the other is. Oh, wait, guess that should be me…bein’ unemployed an all…
Wheee! This is fun, Mon!
FWDiva
thanks ppd – have until 09/09/09 before i have to go back for more
Well, nahant had to get a hurricane named after him while visiting MA. The guy’s got a great sense of timing, eh?
That’s funny. Haven’t seen a movie in forever, but I’m seeing District 9 tomorrow!
hey wigwam
g’day to you, too!
(in an australian accent)
Hey Suz. How are you doing?
Guy rises to the occasion, doesn’t he? *g*
i’m doing ok wigwam – how be you?
nahant has a category 4 intellect without the attendant winds
Weeee! Another video from the archives; back in 2007, but I tell you, I feel the exact same today!
It’s funny to me to feel consistent; how wierd!
openhope, that’s amazing. I’m glad you’re better, but dang!
Hanging in there, and getting grumpier by the day.
Yup. I still like dat one, mon!
Wish I had piano chops. All I can do is make up songs to sing about my cat…all my songs are belong to Buster…
FWDiva
I put on 40 lbs and blew my back out on the job as a chef.
Kaiser kept me on pain meds, but I was curled up on the floor unable to sleep for 3 months.
I finally got some chiro help. Long story, but it got me up and functioning in a couple of weeks.
Work was a problem in kitchens for years, after.
But I could function.
I HEART chiro. It was right for me and my torn muscles, ligaments and such in my back.
Fuck Kaiser, and trad med, in THIS respect.
Really. I mean it. *G*
OMG, I just checked out the Bassett Blogging over at TBogg’s place. Too cute! A must see. It’s a dawg’s life, for sure!
FWDiva
yep, keepers of the flame of anti-interventionist, ‘isolationist’ libertarianism. their views on economics are of course a different matter, but antiwar.com deals almost exclusively with foreign policy.
great reporting on the neo-conservative tendency from there, as well. Raimondo and others felt the neo-cons were invaders, usurpers, parasites, and were alien to the old Republican Party of, say, Goldwater.
‘Scoop Jackson Democrats’
The neocons clustered around Sen. Scoop Jackson, whose adviser was Richard Perle.
http://www.amconmag.com/article/2009/jan/12/00006/
ach, what a tangent. nevermind.
I love Justin for the antiwar shit.
Sadly, he’s phuckin nutz on so many other issues.
Still, his site offers info you WON’T get in the MSM.
I like Asia Times Online, Juan Cole, and others for outside info.
Ya gotta ramble for yer nooze . . .
Suz, have you read Metro Girl and Motor Mouth?
chiro and acupuncture got me through my last 3 years at the pd larue.
If you see District 9? Be prepared for some gore. It’s actually relevant to the plot and all but it still kinda shocks one. It had a near anime quality ultraviolence to it, which made it all surreal. But it helps cement it all in your mind.
In other news? i’ve got the place settled on. The fun part is scraping up 200$ for the deposit. Hoping i can make an ‘installment plan’ deal with the landlord so i can move in ASAP. I really don’t want to hit the payday advance loan people again EVER. But the wage garnishing crap is pushing me towards it.
Nite pups… gotta finish laundry and get some sleep. Commuting to work at noon.
Sleep well! Out with some Jim Morrison poetry… see ya in a few days!
Yer still up, Suz?!?!?!?!? *G*
Good to have ya. We miss ya . . .
Suz – allow me one more video whore-ing bit:
Before this whole health care thing started with an actual president, and before there was a Dem candidate; I sang this on MLK day 2008. And I still mean it today.
I do not waver from it for an instant.
Thanks. Of course this happens when we’re doing a major community fundraiser to purchase 70 acres and put it into a conservation trust.
The good energy definitely kissed me.
Goodnight. Sweet dreams,all.
metro yes.. i’m thinking maybe on motor but the more i think i think no to motor
hey alias – how ya doing tonight?
g’nite jofish – great poetry there dood
night Jo
Alright. Just getting antsy about getting that deposit. Hoping i can call one of my relatives for some extra money. Otherwise i’m basically without an address come Sept 1st. >_
g’nite openhope
oh shit – sending ya positive deposit thoughts alias and crossing my fingers and toes for ya
I SO heart that Suz . . . . I kept chiro for 5 years after my issue.
Only thing that kept me afloat and workin and movin in life.
Now, the more I work out, treadmills, and weights on Nautalis machines and back strengthening, the better I am.
Damn I hate this work, though . . . . LOL
night openhope
I was a fool to care, but I don’t care even if I was a fool.

Hey, cool. I was a chef in another life. Luckily I blew mine out loading hay bales a couple of years later when I was a stay at home mom who got a couple of ponies kind of on a whim. It’s not the same pressure as the kitchens.
steamroller
Yer killin me, blowin yer back out is totally the shitz.
There’s no luck in it, is there? It’s all pain, total pain.
Hope yours is less.
I battle mine, daily.
In the gym. *G*
Well, Pups, it’s pumpkin time for this diva!
Goodnight to all and thanks for the excellent company!
FWDiva
night all – take care
g’nite ppd
g’nite funny
I enjoy Raimondo’s style and attitude. And I agree with him on foreign policy and rule of law. Also, I agree with him about the corruption of our pundits and politicians. But it pretty much stops right there.
Well put.
Hey, g’nite, everyone.
you leaving too wigwam?
felt like this yesterday
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MopbhuZ2Bh0
James loves playing to this day and this song may be the most fun he has. Good choice, Suz!
oh emerson – that’s a great song. haven’t heard that in years. thank you.
he does it well accoustic and electric guitar.. hard and soft… depends on his mood i guess but this one he was certainly having fun with. never heard that story before of how he came to write it
That one makes me cry. Don’t know why, but a few of hers do.
Whoa-got lost in you tube land and everyoone split, Suz?
He’s more fun when he’s rockin it, IMO. But I’m just glad I finally got to see him about 5 years ago.
certain songs touch something deep inside us – music is a part of us as much as our dna is. i can’t remember what show i was watching but i remember something about how there is a theory that speech came out of music. that it started with rhythmic drumming of sticks and stamping of feet and then sounds….

If you ever see this special on PBS, record it. I was at my sisters’ with my other sister and she put it on. The three of us were singing along and all three of us crying. Amazing.
Glad you’ve not read motor. I liked it a lot! There is a suz box here, about ready to go :-) Got a couple of questions, I’ll e-mail you tomorrow.
i think i remember hearing that she wrote woodstock – and did not attend. her writing is among the best imho. she touches something deep inside.
There’s no doubt. And something completely primitive and familiar about the drums.
sweet.. thanks sunny – will answer back quickly – love suz boxes with books :)
And he sings so effortlessly and with perfect pitch at all times. One of my most pleasing concerts, for sure. You will love him.
Hi Sunny!
*sigh*
he’s on my list. as are the allmans and warren hayes and derek trucks and susan tedeschi… and and and… i used to go to probably 10 or 20 shows a year – i haven’t been to a concert in probably 5 years.
So Suz, you got a nice dental break now. Alright!! Taking pills?
not at the moment. other than my usual ones :) i’ll take the pre-dental antibiotic an hour before i go in on the 9th.
These days I pretty much go to small places in the city, unless Bruce comes to town. Although my 2 nephews took me to that big concert in the park last year. Radiohead was really great and all the kids were swaying and singing. I had at least 25 years on about all of them! LOL
Can you drive home after or do you get a ride? Ya gotta be pretty drugged up.
i saw the tubes halloween show at the brookdale lodge. maybe 300 in the audience – it was a blast.
saw clapton at the sharktank in san jose – huge crowd – good show but not the intimacy that the brookdale had.
i forget what they call that arena now.. hp pavilion, compaq?
so far, i’ve been able to drive myself home. for the oral surgeon, i’m gonna have to figure out who can drive. my landlord said that she could help if she is out here otherwise i gotta ask the bride to drive an hour and a half to pick me up then take me to the apt and home again and then an hour and a half to her home again.
tis a predicament i’ll cross when i get to it :)
I think it’s been called both, but I don’t know now. I was only there once to see the Who do Quadrophenia. Usually its either SF, Oaktown, or Concord Pavilion.
I love those small venues now.
Haven’t seen Clapton in decades, although I like his music. Probably cuz my Bro-in-law plays a lot of his songs well.
Your daughter got married?
well i guess its about time i head off. thanks for an enjoyable misunderstood thread pups.
g’nite all.
the oldest did – may a year ago. *poof*
g’nite.
Hi emerson! You and newton got me going the other night. I *need* to watch
West Wing again… Were I on the left coast, I’d propose a marathon.
Yikes, 4am again. Small wonder my days aren’t productive. Nite all.
joni
fork – thanks felix – i don’t know why i continually get carol and joni confused.
