What’s on your mind tonight?

Well! MrCE and I totally had this wrong. Kenny Rogers, NO, I thought that is way off. But, Kenny it is! Who knew?
Well i seem to have found a place. But now i’m trying to figure out how the hell to get 200$ deposit AND the rent when my wages are being garnished. I loose almost 200$ from every check before i even get the rest. And i’m supposed to be making a living? I might as well be back at the gas station again.
*sighs in frustration*
The first day of the rest of your life…so what will you do with your time?
But of course it is
Kenny…I have always liked that song… before Kenny went country..
This was left for you a few nights ago by tejanarusa:
I just never knew — I think that I’ve lived most of my life in some sort of a cocoon, be it college, art, museum, family, PTA. My co-worker called us “hot house flowers.” I’m damn aware now what is happening now, thanks to you and all the pups at FDL.
It’ll be over in 91 days. If it goes over that then i’ll ask for help. It’s just the timing sucks–when i need the money now. Found out it isn’t so much fraud. It’s a hospital network going for their old bills i racked up that i couldn’t pay off. I knew i had the debt, but i wasn’t far enough out of the hole to even begin paying them. So now i’m stuck with them taking my wages until october 21st. Hence my pickle about the money i need and can’t have. Because their damned debt comes FIRST over my peanuts for wages.
Hugs, Alias. I am pulling for you and wishing you the best.
hey alias-
sucks, period.
And the irony of it in these particular times – I’m sorry you’re one of those caught in the HC switches.
from Move on,,..
Dear MoveOn member,
Two important things:
1) The public health insurance option is under heavy fire right now.
2) President Obama just announced a virtual health care forum for tomorrow.
We always knew we’d have to fight to win real reform with a public health insurance option—and now’s the time to really step it up.
Tomorrow, we’ve got to remind the president that the public option isn’t optional—it’s the heart of real reform. Can you sign up right now for the event and submit a question about the public option?
http://www.moveon.org/r?r=5177…..x&t=3
There’s tremendous support for the public health insurance option—from Americans nationwide, from a bloc of members in the House, and from progressive leaders in the Senate.1
I would sign but I will be winging my way across the country!!
I just now finished reading Glenzilla’s column for today:
Has this been mentioned yet?
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08…..lobal-home
No wonder Panetta’s panties were in a twist.
I must leave as well, and hope that I have a job tomorrow. 14 employees gone this month.
I did see it and now it all makes sense to me now. And you have all this BS being published that it was SOP for the CIA to do what ifs… I wonder if they actually carried out any hits???
taking off….. the last post just pissed me off totally….. Good God Almighty………….
When you say you know someone and take their judgment then I would leave it as that
Right. And the letter from The Republicans urging no investigation is just good governance.
Hey, we may have thought the whole thing up, but sine we didn’t actually execute it, no harm-no foul. Just an intellectual exercise.
move along
A lot of us have been saying this for some time. If Obama were really behind a public option he wouldn’t have Dawn Johnsened it. At his primetime news conference on healthcare he didn’t even mention it in his prepared remarks. He wouldn’t have mentioned it at all if it had not come up in a question. All we have to do is think about how Obama would have presented the PO if he thought it was important and how in fact he has treated it.
Damn. fingers crossed chris
IOW, in the absence of an electoral stranglehold, I will sit on my hands…
I think they are worried that they won’t be prosecuted themselves!!
“Verizon Wireless is currently sponsoring the Glenn Beck Program on FOX — a program that promotes hateful, race-baiting and factually baseless accusations about President Obama. We quote: “This president has exposed himself as a guy over and over and over again who has a deep-seated hatred for white people … this guy is, I believe, a racist.” Verizon Wireless should immediately cease all advertising on Glenn Beck’s show.” Sign the petition
Per Glenzilla, it’s more like: “I want these industries to give their money to us rather than the Republicans. So, I’ll give the industries what they want and blame it on the need for bipartisanship and the fact that the Republicans are such tough negotiators.”
Fantasy – Obama sacrifices Rahm in an attempt to redeem himself.
Well time to bail for the night… Talk to ya all from the other coast tomorrow night!! Nite Pups
Oh, he sure as hell thinks it’s important. It’s important that he torpedo it, because the industry insists that he do so, or else he can kiss his deal with them goodbye and they’ll open up their cofers to the Republicans. To him it is very, very important.
I understand the argument. I read Jane’s piece.
But short of being a one-termer, that plan is fine. If he is threatened electorally, that is the only circumstance under which he could or would chuck the plan Jane outlines.
I don’t understand. Does that plan include a public option?
Under what circumstances does ObamaCo abandon the plans Jane outlines?
If the public demands it, will he still cling to it?
Yes, unless he calculates that it will get him bounced.
If those with strong financial interests bite back at a uproarious public response, will he abandon it?
No, unless he is personally threatened.
The entire premise is this – unless his office is directly threatened, he can hold on. But what is the point of holding out for the drug, insurance and appliance companies if he only gets one term?
Wigwam, Obama can make something happen. He is the only individual that can make something happen.
We have only 2 ways of driving him – make it impossible for him to survive in ‘12 (or so uncomfortable that it wouldn’t be worth it) unless he gets his communications and policy shit together and keeps his word about ensuring some measure of competition into the health care market (I leave it up to you to decide how competitive)
or
overcome those with a financial interest by outspending them, out-communicating them, and drowning out the chaff they have thrown up to obscure the issues.
For practical reasons, I favor the former.
IMHO, he has already bargained away the public option, and if he renegs, he and the Dems will face a lot of industry money in both 2010 and 2012. So his problem is to get rid of it without getting blamed by 76% of the electorate for getting rid of it, i.e., to scapegoat Max Baucus and the Republicans.
I think that he is confident that he can smooth-talk his way past the voters, but the industry is made of hard-nosed greed-heads. They’ll hold his feet to the fire.
I also think that he and his co-conspirators have been stunned to realize that Jane and her pitch-fork brigade just might kick over his apple cart. Damn!
What I’d like to see happen now (relax, it’s a dream) is have him say, OK, this is how you want to play it? Fine. No bill will get passed that is anything less than Medicare For All.
And then ram it through. Oh, you thought you had a military project coming up in your district? Hahaha, not anymore. Unless you vote for the health bill. Fuck this mister nice bipartisan guy shit. And arrest those loons at the president’s speeches who have guns. Put them far, far away. Another time zone.
The most disappointing thing about his Presidency is that he had he could have virtually seized the office and reinvigorated it and the country. And he didn’t. He did what we fretted he would do – drive to the middle of the road and extend his hands to his mortal enemies. And Joe Lieberman.
Questions: Who on this planet thought the Republicans would give him a moments peace? Who imagined they would see their electoral rout and simply hand over the keys?
Answer: No one who has been alive and paying attention for the last 30 years.
True, but he doesn’t want to, because he is more afraid of facing the industry’s money than the voters’ displeasure. He’ll put the full force of his considerable pursuasiveness against the progressives to get then to ignore their pledges, e.g., he’ll note that if widows and orphans can’t get healthcare, their suffering will be the fault of the progressives who dug in their heels and voted against the reform bill, which would have saved widows and orphans.
He can’t be so stupid that he any longer harbors any illusions about the possibilities for bipartisanship, but he can pretend to believe in bipartisanship and use that as an excuse for selling out the progressives at every turn to please the boys with the money.
Start with “he can’t be so stupid…”
So stupid that as part of his plank for re-election, he could or would punish the Left? I just don’t see it.
He needs to make the argument that he’s obstructed by the Right, and he needs to make that argument right now. There is no victory for him by campaigning for the center only. They will not buy it, and they should not. Even the center expects him to reach out and grab the initiative, take obstructionists by the balls and wrestle them down.
They and we are beyond caring who gets it done. He is smart enough to see that – hell, that was his whole campaign.
Sorry but as of now, I guess I believe in the kabuki more than I believe in Obama settling for one term and having his presidency recorded as one of the major failures in American history.
Unless he figures the masters of the universe will write what they want anyway by then.
What is the one policy initiative they are responsible for that has shown great success? Stim? No. Auto bailouts? No. Bank bailouts? No.
Cash For Clunkers. Nice legacy.
If I were John Huntsman, I would remain Ambassador to China until March ‘10, then resign and announce.
Obama has a clear path, and it is to succeed by leading. This is not leadership, and as bad as the policies look, his tepid support of anything bold and innovative makes him look like the guy hiding under his desk, peeking over the edge in the hopes that the enemy has just gotten bored.
hey dude
Topical: Who said “Instead, we cowered in the corner and said ‘Please… Don’t… Hurt… Me.”
I don’t know how Obama can hang his hat on health care reform as his legacy for more than two years, and then watch it go down the drain from the left. That’s beyond senseless.
I still don’t think Rahn is safe. COS has no job security and Obama’s best bet of regaining the left is ousting Emanuel. He can’t agree with Rahm’s Mideast views, either. That would immediately restore the impression of strength.
Hmmm. I know that line. Give me a sec.
Since we can only speculate on who wears the pants – Barack or Rahm – I can only surmise that if Obama wants it, and he flatly says so, Rahm has only two choices – leave, or do his bosses bidding.
That said, I don’t know if Obama can hang his hat on health care either. But I do know that he cannot claim any mantle of leadership if he blows it, and the very last thing he wants is to complain about being plundered by a teeny tiny minority of his party. Imagine he has to claim both that we are a squeaking, minuscule entity, and as President, that squeaking, minuscule entity took his legs out.
I’ll bet he would rather eat his shirt.
Absolutely. I think Obama liked unleashing his dog on DC as much for a show of strength as anything. Also, to keep himself a bit above the fray. I don’t think its all that uncommon in the WH for Presidents to tire of advisors or have their trust in said advisors dissipate. I find it hard to believe that someone like Axelrod agrees with Rahm on much, for example. And Ms. Jarrett had to return from Pittsburgh with some interesting tales to tell. They are his confidants, not Rahm.
Sounds like a Toby Ziegler talking Bartlett into bold action. But can’t place it-who is it?
Point taken.
If it’s just Rahm that is ruining him, that’s an awful lot of sway for only one policy adviser. It presupposes that Rahm has angry, threatening power over every other adviser Obama has. This scenario reminds me of Cheney/Addington.
And while I think Obama is a little over his head when it comes to getting and taking advise, he is certainly less manageable than W. His campaign tells me that he knows how to lead, who to listen to and when not to, and that he is, after all is parsed in the policy shop, solely responsible for outcomes.
If he cannot see what is happening to him and his path right now, he is no less bubbled than W was. And that scares the living shit out of me.
Bruno Gianelli. Deciding whether to use soft money in the re-elect.
Shit! OF COURSE it is!! I could even hear the cadence, but couldn’t hear Bruno. Should have known that one. *g*
And how appropriate in these particular times…
nite emerson
nite pups
yeah, but I believe he sees it. Even if Rahm runs a girdle-tight ship, you know Jarrett can see him whenever she wants. I’m sure he is now calling her in and she’s talking freely. I think she is one of the most fascinating figures in this administration as one-half of the sounding board for Obama. The other is her close friend-the first lady.
And Rahm won’t have much lobbying cred if he’s fired before he’s been on the job for less than a year. Obama can play some of those angles too, and he’s a quick study. That may be the most sobering thing, as well.
You’re scaring ME with the Cheney/Addington comparison.
VERY timely. g’nite Newt.
years ago, when langhorne slim was getting started, he needed a bass player and someone put us in touch.
It was a NIGHTMARE.
