One gun fear comes from legislation (HR 45) introduced by the guy that defeated Obama’s Congressional Primary run in 2000 Bobby Rush.

It has very little chance of getting out of committee or even of getting a hearing, but advocacy groups have been pushing it as “Obama’s gun grab” even though Obama hasn’t had anything to do with it.

The hoarding of ammunition is causing some consternation as well, this one is something of a self fulfilling prophecy. Joe Hoplophile worries he won’t be able to get inexpensive ammo, goes to gun store to stock up and finds limited selection. He buys them out. Next guy comes in and there isn’t any ammo available, OMG they’re taking our ammo away, run to another gun store and buy them out… rinse lather repeat.

Good times for Olin Corporation and other ammunition providers. And eventually the hysteria will die down, prices will drop a bit and the visious cycle will unwind. With luck some of the hoarded ammo will be used at firing ranges and gun owners will be more proficient at aiming, hence less likely to cause accidental harm.

Well, she’s almost certainly got benefits (union benefits, at that) from her gig as a FedEx driver. It strikes me that she’s been working three jobs and living with mom and dad to pay off her student loans from Temple.

That she hasn’t been able to find a gig as a graphic artist (her degree area) is probably disappointing to her. The problem with working 70 hour weeks as she is is that her facility with the visual arts isn’t going to be helped. And in artistic positions it’s the current portfolio that is important.

The longer she continues to work those sorts of hours and neglects her art the more difficult it will be to break into the graphic arts world.

I’m not positive but I don’t think FedEx is fully union. IIRC, they won a case that allowed them to avoid unions in a lot of positions.
