That is why the talk radio format has proved so congenial to right-wing assholes. The “power” relationship of the host vs caller is absolutely asymmetrical in favor of the host, and they not only like things that way, it’s just about the only way they can operate.</p> <p>For example, when was the last time a Limbaugh or Boortz allowed himself to get snookered by a combative caller, who just had a better argument, or a set of inconvenient facts? Can’t remember? That’s because it <i>never happens!</i> They would no doubt consider it <i>unprofessional</i> to be schooled in any way by a lowly caller, and the cutoff switch is always ready at hand.</p> <p>Folks like Erickson long for the kind of absolute power that a Limbaugh wields in his domain, and they try to recreate it for themselves in their blog comments section (that is, when they even <i>allow</i> comments.)
