Mike Huckabee is in Israel engaging in the kind of foreign policy adventure the GOP pretended Nancy Pelosi was engaged in two years ago when she visited Syria (with some Republican Congressman). He’s there to show how AWESOME he thinks it is that Israeli is building even more settlements in the occupied territories. Thereby undermining the expressed foreign policy not only of the Obama Administration, but the last several of both parties.
Yet, it appears that Wolf Blitzer just doesn’t care all that much when a Democrat isn’t involved.
But there are some protesters in Israel who have figured out the very creepy reasons that Mike Huckabee and other Christian fundamentalists are so keen on more settlements as soon as possible:
Protesters chanted "go home" one of the banners they held up said: "Huckabee, we are not pawns in your Armageddon."
Yes, finally, and if only the true basis of the Christian Right’s real interest in Isreal is stated. It all helps bring about the rapture — it isn’t about anything else, or anything that isn’t disturbing.

Sorry, Mike — squirrel is treyf.
Good morning pups. It’s Bob Herbert flying solo today. Bobo is still off, and we are grateful for small mercies. Mr. Herbert has a question: “This Is Reform?” He says giving consumers the choice of an efficient, government-run insurance plan would have moved us toward real cost control, but that option seems gone. The public deserves better.
Here he is.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got a selection of bagels with cream cheese. It’s encouraging that there are some folks in Israel who realize that with friends like Huckleberry they really don’t need any enemies. Have a great day.
Morning
allanybodyIt’s been slow around the lake the past few mornings…
I noticed that
Has anyone considered a redistribution strategy for all those wordly possessions left behind by all those totally whacked out Christains when they are transported into the celestial netherworld?
Well, probably all of us DFHs can come up with some sort of co-op to distribute cars and clothes and stuff. As far as the tacky religious tchochkes go, maybe a big celebratory bonfire?
It will probably be foreclosed
Don’t forget to call the WH @ 202-456-1111 to let the Administration know that the public option is not negotiable. Finally got thru yesterday and said Obama was acting more like a Senator and not a President. Said at this point in the healthcare debate I was very disappointed in the handling of the healthcare debate. I asked the woman if they had been receiving a lot of calls on the subject and she said they were not allowed to answer the question. Should have then asked her “wasn’t the Obama adminstration supposed to be the most “transparent” in history?
NPR covered Huckabee’s dog and pony show in Israel but never once mentioned the grand plans of the Christain right vis a vis Israel. I stopped contributing to National Propaganda Radio several years ago.
Mornin’, pups -
Guess “politics ends at the water’s edge” doesn’t apply to repuklics. :-(
I don’t even listen to National Republican Radio anymore. I have no use for “Wan” Williams and Barbara Bradley Haggerty.
Eric Cantor was in Israel kissing up to the imperialists too.
Huckabee is most likely passing on secrets to the Israelis from George Bush & Dick Cheney too.
Not to mention Kookie Cokie.
Anybody see Gwen Ifill, Ceci Connally and Susan Dentzer dancing on
the grave of the public option last night on the PBS Newshour?
Truly a coven of Villagers.
All that was missing was eye of Newt.
Sponsored by AIG and PhRMA no doubt.
Mornin Joe vs Weiner “I’m not here to answer YOUR questions”, “I will if you will let me answer YOUR question”>
Say what? Who said what?
They are arguing world views vis-a-vis health care.
From the look on Joe’s face this morning, I think he just found out that his wife wasn’t a virgin when he married her. Note to Joe, next time you stand in front of a mirror, open your eyes and see just how fucking stupid you really look to some of us.
Aren’t the Jews supposed to convert to Christianity and then get burned up?
Is that six weeks before or after they see their own shadows?
Something along those lines…
And yet he’s just your garden variety prick, at the end of the day (or end-times).
There is a reason that I reject all religion, not just some. The lumbering stupidity of the Christian right is only a symptom of a larger problem — believing in things that have no basis in reality. I don’t care what the religion is or what it stands for, they all have as much veracity as a garden variety episode of Star Trek except that in the case of the latter, it eventually gets wrapped up neatly. That the Christian or Muslim or Jewish or Sikh or Wiccan fundies are completely nuts is only the psychotic icing on an otherwise stale cake.
Huckabee is a huckster, plain and simple. He’s another Elmer Gantry except without the charm. I don’t believe his concern is any sort of mythical Rapture but the fact that he’s enraptured by power. I wouldn’t buy a used car from someone as smarmy as him and it shows the level of anti-intelligence that there are those that see him as some kind of Republican savior.
That said, I’ll sit back now and listen to E.S.P. by the Miles Davis Quintet. I need some beauty to make me forget how idiotic some folks are.
I think, according to my understanding of the Bible, that in the end times, any Jew who is unwilling to convert will have their blood boiled in their veins and they’ll die a painful death.
Then the ultimate Christian wwingnut fantasy ensues. A world without Jews….or Muslims, or Bhuddists, atheists…..
This then is the not well known or understood component of the XerEvangels–there can be no End Time unless Israel rebuilds the Temple in Jerusalem.
Ipso facto — the Dome of the Rock must go–the Palesinians surely must be swept out of Jerusalem to facilitate any Temple rebuild security cordon.
Islam and the Muslims? What about them? Israel has atomic weapons. So where does this lead then? Oh…need one wonder….
Huckabee knows the drill well enough–and he surely has one eye on 2012 and the other eye on a possible Huckabee WH coming into being on 01/20/13.
Going to Israel and stoking this already well stoked long running conflict betwixt the Palestinians and Israelis/Jews and Muslims is such a damn bad idea.
Mike Huckabee will be coming home to a GOPer love fest no doubt–count on it.
Huckabee ought to be arrested for being a Xer terrorist.
That bit about Huckabee stating the Palestinians need to find a new homeland really is the over the top part of this story. I guess Mike would be all okay then with Native American tribes who inhabited Arkansas before the white settlers arrived coming back and Mike Huckabee just packs up and goes somewhere else.
There is a whole lotta American Manifest Destiny getting mixed in with Israeli Zionism in Mike Huckabee’s thinking.
Wolf Blitzer and CNN will get right into this story — “Mike Huckabee backs Israeli war criminals and Israeli full rights to expel and expunge Arab Palestinians and Muslims — Temple to be built where Dome of the Rock now stands — Israel is fully within all rights to demolish the Dome of the Rock, build new Jewish Temple and expel/expunge Arab Palestinians and Muslims from Jerusalem and all of Greater Israel”–”coming up–Can Mike Huckabee take back the WH for Republicans in 2012?–you are in the Situation Room–I’m Wolf Blitzer”.
No doubt Wolf Blitzer and CNN will not get into any Xer terrorism.
None.
One way to make the public option health care more affordable is to have two boxes on the application form:
1) [] Check if you want to enroll in the public option.
2) [] Check if you want to enroll in the rapture.
Good sir, I would advise you to take a somewhat more rational approach. There have been plenty of excellent religious people.
That we are currently suffering a great reduction in their numbers is no point in and of itself. One could easily argue against atheism by saying that there’s no evidence God isn’t out there, because by it’s very nature, the question of God cannot be answered.
Don’t spew hatred, not to those who don’t deserve it. Hate the madmen of the Christian Right as much as you want- they hurt people.
Leave religious folk like myself out of it when they’ve done nothing to you.
