I can’t argue with you because the answer to everything is Obama knows all.

This obviously isn’t an honest debate on your part, since I consistently say Obama is not my ideal candidate and offer nuance as to why, yet you continue with the condescension, so I’ll quit wasting your time and mine.

Hopefully some readers found some value in what I added, just as I do from many who comment here, so onward and upward.

And where are these “pesky facts” to which you refer? Is it that Obama supports a public option? or that it is not essential? or that it is the only way to create competition for insurance companies? or that it is only a small part of reform? Because he has stated these positions all within the last six weeks.

As for calling me “Clinton-ish” — well, now you are acting 12. How old are you exactly because you don’t seem to respond well to criticism?

Obama was my Senator before my President and I guarantee you I have voted more times for him than you ever have.

You can be a fan of Obama all you want. But this debate is about America. I do not question your love of Obama and your undying worship of the man. I just question your politics. And with the administration blowing health care reform I think it is time to put the pressure on this White House.

How Hillary Clinton-ish of you. Nice way to avoid those pesky facts that disrupt your neat and tidy storyline you cling to.

Considering I’ve organized for single-payer for many years, want to abolish the stock market/Wall St all together, not just end the Repub Invasions in the Middle East, but start killing terrorism with kindness by funding humanitarian aid throughout the world at levels never dreamed of, and want to increase taxes by about 10% on the upper 2% of wage-earners, and 2-3% at every other level to get the country solid and safe financially, I’d hardly say Obama is “the President of my dreams.”

He is the best we’ve had in my lifetime though, and that’s progress. See, progress is the key, and by any honest estimation over the last year, America has made progress on an incredible amount of levels.

You and many others in the Liberal blogs suggest much more could be done by now, and in cases that may be true, but in totality the Change Obama has brought with him is fantastic in my opinion. Off to a great start and is saying all the correct things about what to do next.

History is filled with leaders and organizers that fought for issues their entire lives, and often they never saw the Change in their lifetimes, but the work they did set the stage for the next generation of organizers and leaders. The common thread with all these heroes is that they never gave up. I pointed out some of the on-the-ground effects of this constant emphasis on the negative, and virtually no highlighting of the positives that have happened the last 7 months. It hurts the various movements as a whole by demoralizing potential activists at precisely the time we need to be growing our ranks.

This isn’t about individuals like you or me or Obama. It’s about organizing millions, and motivation is crucial. There’s a lot to be motivated about right now.

I don’t look at the presidency as a spot on American Idol. Your excitement is nice during the campaign, but there is that little thing called governing.

I just want health care reform, or an end to Bush’s wars, or more money going to Americans and less to Wall Street, or an end to expanding executive privilege, or signing statements, or any of the many issues Obama ran on (I guess I missed that campaign speech about the White House helicopters).

You got your guy and you remain a fan. But Obama lost one vote for his next election.

I’m still waiting for “transparency” and “justice” and “change”

This is such a common refrain in the Liberal blogs it’s become laughable. So many historic “changes” have already happened this year, that if you don’t know about them, you should add more information sources into your mix, or you’re willfully ignoring them to continue with this inaccurate and inane storyline. Yes, lots of stuff still to work on, and being the radical Liberal that I am, Obama will never do as much as I’d like to see, but overall it’s amazing how much he’s turned the ship around so far, and I’m thrilled about the direction he’s steering it in.

None of this matters anyway, since real change comes from people getting organized and active, not from one person in government. Getting people active and excited around certain issues is what I’ve been working on, and this incessant and unfair Obama-bashing around much of the Liberal blogs works against our efforts. It lowers morale. I’ve been getting comments to this effect at some of our planning meetings, and we have to spend most of the time just getting some of the people excited enough again to go knock on doors or attend meetings. This is why having the balance WAY off to the “holding feet to fire” side has been annoying me.

For the first time in my adult life we have a President who is receptive and supportive to our organizing efforts. It’s a golden opportunity for movement on so many issues over the next few years, so let’s get to work.

For instance, Obama has decided to continue indefinite detentions. But he has a “plan”.

Obama has decided continue two wars and increase troop levels massively in Afghanistan . . . but he has a “plan”. etc. etc.

The problem is what is this “plan”? And how does it justify Obama throwing out his campaign promises? I don’t see it. I’m still waiting for “transparency” and “justice” and “change”. You don’t need a “plan” to do those things, only the will.

Yes, it really is just that simple.
