Ahh yes, it’s a fine Maddow morning… with a little teasing; like newtonusr sez, Keith Olbermann wishes Rachel all the best for this Sunday morning, really he does.

About Firedoglake
I get Tweety early. Trish Regan telling us the growth is not a result of Pres.O’s stimulus but because businesses are going to build inventories back. Riggghhhht.
Morning all, Thanks for the compilation Elliott. Nothing on the TV yet unless one gets off watching some climate change denier or some one selling extenze.
Martial Law in the USA – Coming Right Now

I’m disappointed. I thought Rachel was going to be part of the roundtable.
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd, Friedman, Egan and Rich this morning. In “Sarah’s Ghoulish Carousel” MoDo says that despite putting out a proclamation in 2008 to plan ahead for health care decisions, Sarah Palin has managed to hijack the health care debate from President Obama with one catchy phrase. The Moustache of Wisdom is writing from Chief’s Island in Botswana. In “The Land of ‘No Service’ ” he says while maintaining “No Service” in the wild is essential for Africa’s ecotourism industry, the rest of the continent desperately needs more connectivity if it is to prosper. Mr. Egan and Mr. Rich apparently watch the same TV shows. In “The Distant Mirror” Mr. Egan says as much fun as it is to revel in fascination at the early 1960s seen in “Mad Men,” the series works best as a startling reminder of just how distant the near past really is. Mr. Rich, in ” ‘Mad Men’ Crashes Woodstock’s Birthday,” says while the 40th anniversary of Woodstock is getting much air time this summer, perhaps it is Don Draper’s America, the early ’60s country-at-a-pivot-point, that really resonates today.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got blueberry pancakes for breakfast. I’ve also got a big bowl of popcorn, with salt and melted butter to add if you like, to have while we all watch Rachel and Dick Armey. I still can’t quite believe I’m actually going to watch Press the Meat, but I wouldn’t miss this for the world! Have a great day.
How about boycotting GOP contributor Rite Aid Pharmacies so seniors and disabled people can get a real prescription drug benefit without a donut hole or extra premiums and deductibles? Send them this letter. http://BIT.LY/drug_benefit
How about helping seniors and disabled people?

Where is everyone this AM?
Up an attem with more bathroom painting project. Why oh why did I decide to paint a pattern at the top with three paint colors and several sizes of masking tape?
I’ve got Teh TiVo all set for Rachel on MTP, which I ordinarily never watch. And did anyone see her tweet about whether the set of MTP will hide her sneakers? LOL!!
sleeping in
or mebbe out for breakfast :)
I’ll miss it; I hope she’s great.
SD: I hope all is well with the new children….I’ll check later. But I learned something new this morning…I set off the smoke detector (loud)…I could not tell if Angela was frightened or delighted, but it cetainly kept her amused. Who knew? Happy Sunday, All. Later….
I’m back. My computer shut down for reasons unknown. Wonder if others are having computer problems.
I have had some problems with some of the sites I usually visit. Rawstory has locked up on me twice this AM.
Chris Wallace – GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER OF INSURANCE!
Senator Shelby – Americans basically satisfied with their insurance
we could look at the public option.
Conrad – Co-ops! Co-ops! – a model that works. Only plan with bipartisan support.
AMA -
affordable health care for every American – no interference between doctor and patient
Now I remember why I don’t watch the Sunday Morning Gasbags. I’m sure that someone will produce a precis…
Good morning all.
From bithers to deathers the wing nuts have it covered it from craddle to grave.
So many stories depress the hell out of me but the one I’m enjoying is the Whole Foods fiasco. What a freeking moron to piss off the group that supports his stores.
Having problems here also..
I am wearing your haz mat suit ;)
Sweet heavenly days… Coburn is a horse’s ass.
Fox News
AMA guy and Shelby actually sounding reasonable and sane on “death panels” and “rationing”
Morning pups – up in time for MTPRachel edition?
I notice that Rachel has her facts with her, while everybody else is talking off the top of heads(polite version).
I can see that Armey’s tactic is simply the same as his organization – shut her down by talking over her and interrupting her.
But she’s gotten in some facts.
Now Coburn spinning shit, – doctor or not, he’s an idjit.
I’m not worried about rationing, per se, but anyone from a rural district has to be concerned about the doctor shortage. We already wait weeks/months to see a specialist. This is a problem that needs to be addressed.
Oh my gahd – Rachel is actually putting forth the most concise desscription of what we want and what’s wrong with the Finance Comm.
And here goes Armey lying again. He’s obviously upset to be next to Rachel, a pointed hint that she had her facts wrong.
Yes, he is. Still.
It is important to remember that there are many more Horse’s asses than there are Horses.
Solai, you’re right about rural doctor shortage, but I don’t think it’s going to get better the way it is.
OMG – Coburn “let me finish” but they don’t let our folks finish. urrrrggh
MTP doesn’t come on here in NW Indiana until 11 a.m. Can’t wait!
I agree. It’s a separate problem. First give us a one-payer system, second address the problem of doctor shortages in rural areas. My point was, however, that when the argument is used that you’ll have trouble getting to see a doctor, it rings true.
On the the Fox News All Stars – Town Hall Protests.
Sammon, Connolly, Krauthammer, Stoddard.
Town Halls doomin’ the house bill
MTP comes on 9:00 a.m. MT in the Denver area. In many debate situations Rachel is to polite. The pit bull in those situations is Lawrence O’Donnell.
(Christy’s back from Netroots)
How The Media Enables And Amplifies The Crazy
Oh, the dreadful tyranny of Medicare… Armey is a swine.
According to one of Obama’s speeches of late there is quite a bit being done already in the stimulous bill to encourage doctors to go into family medicine by paying off student loans in return for committments.
Is he drunk so early?
Sammon = typical Republican projection ass
And again – he’s trying to shut down Rachel and put her down by grining as if he doesn’t take her seriously.
He actually sounds a bit like he’s drunk.
And can you believe he denied that FreedomeWorks has anything to do with the protesters? Liar, liar, pants on fire…there has tobe a way to shut him down.
Buy you a (non-alcoholic) drink?
I’m glad I’m not the only one with that impression.
Armey seems to be basically controlling the program…..ymmv
MSNBC should give Larry O’Donnell his own show in place of that Ed person.
I hear that about Armey
Well, good, maybe if it’s this obvious he’ll lose influence (again).
Now, if only coburn would crash and burn – he has o place in any sensible debate; the man is a right wing fool.
I love this “if you read the bill” crap. THERE IS NO BILL TO READ, YOU PUTZ!!!
He has been a pit bull
He needs to break up with Pat Buchanan tho
Oh, cripes. The Chamber of Commerce… Why don’t they just have the dude from Whole Foods on and finish with him?
Ah, the Chamber of Commerce.
Fair and balanced, yes, indeed.
He has gone toe to toe with Buchanon and tore him a new one. Best job I have ever seen of demolishing BUchanon.
pshaw, Marion, details! details!
I missed that one, they are always chums when I see them. I’ll watch more closely.
lol. (and we need some laughs amid all the llies here).
Y’know, for all my criticism of Dashle in the past, I’m beginning to wonder if things might have been better organized on the part of the WH if Daschle hadn’t been shot down for HHS. He’s maaking good arguments.
I love the way Coburn and Armey are getting int this “new” argument about getting rid of state regulation of insurance.
Oh, “comparative effectiveness” is such a bad idea.
I don’t see that. I know there’s a sort of Irish Catholic commaraderie among the majority who appear on Matthews, but O’Donnel seems to me to delight in going right at Buchanan. He has a gleam and smirk, as opposed to his pitbull fixation on the jugular of other wingnuts, but I’ve heard him point out Buchanan’s near miss with criminality in Watergate.
Loved Daschle’s response to that guy: Are we trying to help the American people or trying to help the insurance companies?
Buchanon vs O’Donnell

I don’t have them yet. Tomorrow afternoon. The lady will have had 72 hours to think about her decision. Each time she looks at either of her tigers the reality that the separation is imminent will be there. If she accepts that the responsibility for animals is for the lifetime of the animals and decides to take them with her, fine. If not, that’s fine too, they’ll certainly be welcome at my place.
Caturday will appear on The Seminal noonish.
Well, that could have been worse. Armey played it pretty much the way I expected – talk over Rachel, subtly put her down by grinning, deny the facts that are plain as day about his own involvement inn the teabaggers protesters, and get out his talking points while not answering serious questions.
I hadn’t realized Coburn was so rude – while insisting on being allowed to “finish” speaking, even though he constantly interrupted everyone else (except of course, Armey).
Daschle was much stronger than I expected. Rachel didn’t get as much chance to crush the idjits as I hoped, but she came off well.
Actually, the pattern is familiar – one woman with all the rest men will simply not get the chance to speak as often as the men. And if she tries to speak over them, they’ll shut her down, and she comes off as the rude one. Happens over and over. Maybe, maybe it will change when the old buys die off, but I’m not holding my breath.
Coburn and Armey would never, ever see a woman as an equal.
Yeah, four to one, in this case….(or many more if you count the “extras” gregory brought in). SPIT!
Yup, and ain’t it obvious?
I’m about 20 pages into Jeff Sharlet’s “The Family,” – they certainly don’t see women as equals. It’s hard to keep track, though – not sure if these two are part of it. Same song, differnt tune, though, if they’re not.
No place in their world for that view
Despite the fact that Rachel did armey a wee bit of damage this past week; I got the impression he was in a very controlled snit about that early in the program.
Dick Armey:
Move on DOT org!
Move on DOT org!
Move on DOT org!
Pelosi!
Move on DOT org!
Women are only supposed to work in front (visible) as nurses, teachers, secretaries, or in the back as cooks and cleaners. In the front: unmarried, widowed, or after the kids leave home, especially if you’re white. In the back: all poor and minority women.
Wish they’d get served some of that treatment in ways they can understand. (Not that they ever would understand.)
Good. I hope he’s got a serious case of constipation over it.
lol
Armey worrying on his liver
Re his ABC appearance with Jake Tapper this morning, I am coming to appreciate Arlen Specter. He is a forceful advocate for overhaul, and is earning his stars. I’m happy to have him as a fellow Democrat.
Gregory is a wuss.
If you were to put a clock on the participants; Armey and Coburn controlled the airwaves with noise, obfuscation, non sequitur and baseless innuendo. Daschle proved he’s really better out of the picture–another less than effective voice for progressive causes. Rachel proved she is intelligent, directed and exceptionally well sourced with on point information that is pertinent to the progressive argument.
Gregory proved he is a taller, less intelligent version of Tim Russert’s kow towing subservience to the hot air blowing out of the beltway. I have never had respect for the man but I came to ultimately deplore him when Scott McClellan wrote a book specifically criticizing the White House Press Corp for not doing their jobs during the run up to the Iraq War. Gregory was front and center of those falling down on the job then (he might have contrasted himself to Hellen Thomas if he had any self worth at all), and he continues in that vein today–is, in fact, rewarded for it. I have not watched MTP in years and I will not watch again for some time.
In biased opinion, I rate Armey and Coburn as having been given 65% of the talking time over Maddow and Daschle. They fillibustered effectively (duchbags that they are) and Gregory allowed it to happen. I will make one concession: I actually did see Gregory put his hand on Coburn’s arm to forestall yet another volley of BS in the middle of Daschle’s comment. When Daschle needs help from a biased media shill in getting his message out, then he proves to me his voice is not strong enough. It would have been better to have Rachel against Armey and Coburn alone; then it would have at least been 2 on 1 (and that 1 more intelligent and better spoken than the other two), rather than the 3 on 2 exploration of non-directed messaging that the audience was subjected to.
Dick Armey is such a liar!!!
Rachel: GREAT. This is a gooooood Meet the Press. I don’t usually watch it
Armey only there to obfuscate, he’s the kind of person who relishes doing that.
I think it’s coming Good Golly Ms Molly…either he gets the 10 PM slot that they talked about wanting to fill or he ends eventually up with Ed’s 6 PM slot-which to be honest wouldn’t bother me one bit.
Look, I LIKE that there’s another liberal on TV but in a way it sort of smells Fox-like and cheapens the debate by having such a partisan on the station.
You see all the arm waving and pointing? Right over Rachel’s face-we need a body language expert to explain.
Armey is a Prince of Lies. If I were a religious person, I’d say he was an incarnation of evil. Pehaps, “Prince” is too complimentary an appellation. He is more a minor minion, chasing after the wealth afforded by hanging on the coat tails of the more powerful; Mammon, perhaps?
I think the antis controlled the show ,Daschle and Maddow got a few points in but Gregory kept steering the debate back toward Armey or Coburn
He actually seemed like he enjoyed putting forth outright lies . He sat there with that shit- eating grin for most of the show
Yes, Armey is a truly disgusting human being. Almost as disgusting as his person is that fact that he was given a forum to put forth nothing but the most baseless prevarication.
I can only hope Rachel Maddow will choose to use her own bully pulpit to dispel the litany of lies he and Coburn laid out. I love it when she calls a liar a, “Liar!” That needs to happen far more often, on both sides of the debate, it’s just that operatives for corporate health interests seem to lie with much more frequency.
Coburn said the bills in the House and the Senate contained 87 new government programs, requiring 150,000 new government employees.
When 250,000 joined the roles of the unemployed last month alone, how is this a problem?
But Coburn said we can’t let that happen. Oh no.
What is wrong with these people?
Never let good sense stand in the way of a contradiction…
