I went to Congresswoman Gwen Moore’s Health Care Reform session in Milwaukee today. It was described in the local paper as a “spirited, but controlled debate.”

However, the paper did not print Gwen Moore’s best sound bite quote which was,

“The insurance companies and the pharmaceutical companies need to come to the table with something besides their appetites,” Moore said.

The heavily pro-reform crowd all stood up and applauded that statement. A large majority of the attendees were strongly favoring the Public Option. A University of Wisconsin-Madison professor gave a power point presentation on the bill’s specifics. He explained the reasons these proposals were in the bill. It was very informative and for that reason much less combative than other town halls I have seen in media reports.

However, the local newspaper seems to continue to carry water for the opposition by not reporting that many of them are there to “sound off” against the reform proposals because they simply don’t want President Obama to succeed. It wouldn’t really matter what the content of the bill was to them. They oppose it because it’s all about Obama. Just like Blue Texan posted earlier.

This meeting never was put up on the event tracker board. The meeting was not entered on the calendar. I sent in the info, but nothing was posted. I don’t know why. I am disappointed with FDL because they passed on misinformation about another Gwen Moore event held last week that was totally unrelated to health care. Even though I repeatedly emailed that the event should not be on the calendar it stayed up there. So, IMHO someone at FDL owes Gwen Moore an apology for getting the information wrong.

Has anyone seen the BBC doc “Why we Fight”? On PBS tonite and it’s one of the best things I’ve seen. The most honest treatment of war and America I have seen by far.

Emerson- Madison, Wisconsin is possibly the most Liberal community in all of the Midwest. Their representative Tammy Baldwin is very progressive and as far as I know she is solidly supported in her district.

I am on a kidney cancer list-serve and there is a couple in AU and he wants to have HDIL therapy since he cannot find a certified center in AU, this was the therapy which was billed at over 1/2 million each stay (2) and the insurance paying around $127,000 for one…..

trying to explain how this works, how I and no one can say that the cost would be XYZ….. what with employers plans, a million different negotiated contracts and regional differences.

I just gave up…..
