Hey, remember when the right took that DHS report about violent right-wing extremists a little too personally? That shoe fits better every day, as the teabaggers and their media enablers veer farther and farther into outright eliminationism.
Consider these examples from just the past couple of weeks:
July 29: Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD) hanged in effigy, with a sign reading "Congress: Traitors to the American Ideal."
August 3: Rep. Brad Miller’s (D-NC) office gets telephone death threat warning "Miller could lose his life over this."
August 4: Teabagger urges Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) to kill himself with painkillers and alcohol.
August 4: Republican Rep. Todd Akin gets laughter and applause from a crowd of supporters by joking about his Democratic colleagues "almost [getting] lynched."
August 6: Three days after begging his viewers not to kill anybody, Fox News host Glenn Beck sets a great example by pretending to poison Nancy Pelosi’s wine.
August 7: Twittering teabagger urges fellow protesters to bring guns, and also tweets that "If ACORN/SEIU attends these townhalls for disruption," (oh the irony) his fellow protesters should "stop being peaceful, and hurt them. Badly."
August 10: CNN anchor Lou Dobbs calls Howard Dean a "blood-sucking leftist" and says "you gotta put a stake through his heart to stop this guy."
August 11: Teabagger shows up at Obama townhall with a loaded gun strapped to his leg and a sign reading, "It Is Time To Water The Tree Of Liberty!" (That would be the tree that Thomas Jefferson said "must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.")
August 11: Teabagger with bullhorn at Obama’s townhall yells, "Send [illegal immigrants] home with a bullet in the head" and "Read what Jefferson said about the Tree of Liberty – it’s coming, baby!"
And yet, as repellent and crazy as these people are, prominent Republicans like David Vitter, House Minority Leader John Boehner, NRSC Chair John Cornyn, and NRCC Chair Pete Sessions embrace them as Patriotic Concerned Americans Speaking Their Minds And Giving Those Democrats What For. Dave Neiwert was right – conservatives really do identify with right-wing extremists, and they don’t seem to care who knows it.
I wonder how campaigning as the Angry Mob Party will work out for them next year.

KO reports that another dude was arrested trying to get in the Obama event with a knife and had a loaded piece in his car.
Fantastic. I’m sure the Secret Service just loves these people.
Hate to go all serious, but…
David’s book is like a primer on these ridge-runners.
Have to reread to see what’s coming next, although now that the road has been readied, it doesn’t take Neiwert to see it coming.
I am just blown away, daily, how the violence messages just keep coming and coming and coming. It’s way past dog whistling any more – more like yelling “FIRE!” literally.
I don’t recall ever seeing it quite like this in my 47 years.
Thanks for this, Eli!
FunnyWheelieDiva
Yes, isn’t it interesting that there are no Robocops, no tear gas, no pepper spray or bludgeons, no dogs or horse police to “manage” the crowds of protestors; there have been no mass arrests, preventive detentions, or home invasions by the authorities, and there are very few arrests of any kind; as far as we can tell, there are no Fusion Centers to coordinate police responses, there are no active FBI or NSA or CIA or Military Intelligence investigations.
Compare and contrast with the absolute imperative to crush any sign of DFH getting above themselves last summer at the political conventions.
Just think of the difference.
And still the wingnuts whine…
Eli !
This is classic ReThug MO … if you don’t agree with the Law, ignore it and make up your own.
Petro!
Hard to believe that Federal, “protect the president” national interest doesn’t supercede concealed weapons laws. Seems like a bit of a no-brainer to me.
FWDiva
I was thinkin’ that if Dem Rep/Sen [your choice] holds a TH and the mob shows up and starts chanting, let ‘em chant. Everybody sits back, Rep/Sen Whoever just sorta leans on the podium. These people aren’t spring chickens for the most part. Judging from chanting at peace vigils and such they ought to wear out in about 10-15 minutes. The older ones will be hoarse, to be heard no more that night. Then the Rep/Sen simply says, “Well, now that you’ve had your say, we’ll get on with the meeting if you don’t mind.”
As Judy Tenuta says, “It could happen.”
Hi, ChePasa
Thanks for dropping by the Lake. Usually see ya over at GlennZilla’s
And, yes, the contrast between this summer’s protests and last summer’s is beyond striking.
FWDiva
Well, they did apparently keep a very close eye on the guy with the gun and the Tree Of Liberty sign, but he didn’t do anything. I think he was there to make a statement, but doesn’t actually have a death wish.
It wasn’t concealed, it was totally legal. Imagine if they had arrested him, it would have fanned the flames big time. He knew exactly what he was doing.
Many NH towns have open carry laws.
-G
As Black Tsunami basically said, and I summed up:
Who knew there were anarchists on the Right ? /s
Obama’s going to take all our guns away OMG I TOLD YOU!!!
Imagine if the same guy showed up at a GWB town hall venue last year with the same gun and same sign.
In FL a carry permit does not allow one to openly carry a holstered weapon. A concealed weapon permit is just that, it has to be concealed. One cannot walk down the street with a sidearm in full view. Or be carrying a rifle or shotgun, for that matter. This guy would have been under police gunpoint in a heartbeat.
Ding
Right, which is why he moved to New Hampshire from Arizona a year ago.
I am still surprised that was legal, even though the gun wasn’t concealed. Where do they draw the line? Would it be legal for the guy to take it out of the holster and walk around with it in his hand? It still wouldn’t be concealed.
In this neck of the woods I think you’d gat cited for creating a public nuisance, reckless endangerment or something.
Hell, the steel packs on my truck would get me thrown in jail in Urbana!
Well…not for himself anyway.
FWDiva
William Kostric is a New Hampshire man who was filmed carrying a gun at a town hall meeting attended by Barack Obama. Kostric says he was obeying all laws, due to New Hampshire being an “open carry” state.
The gun, a 9mm handgun, was strapped to Kostric’s leg.
William Kostric is a married man in his mid 30S who works in sales. He says he moved here to New Hampshire from Arizona about a year ago, because it’s a “live free or die” state — and he thought Arizona was becoming too restrictive with its gun laws.
He’s passing out a bookmark that says, “Join the Second Amendment Revolution, the most exciting pro-liberty movement in over 200 years.”
He’s a Ron Paul supporter, who opposes just about everything Obama, including health care reform.
The local police say he is within his rights to carry a handgun openly under state law. He was carrying a 9-mm Smith and Wesson strapped to his lower leg.
We’re just like Mayberry. You’d probably run into Otis in there.
I’m pretty sure that actually waving a gun around or, God forbid, firing it, at an Obama rally would have some rather dire consequences.
Or even a shoe….
At least it was made in the U.S.A. (cue the national anthem).
I would be willing to give Kostric the benefit of the doubt as an eccentric with an irrational love of guns, if not for his “It is time to water the tree of liberty” sign, which is basically a call for revolution.
Interesting sense of priorities he’s got there.
The Beck’s, Limbaugh’s and Hannity’s among others have fueled the fire with such hate as to incite very dangerous behaviors among the unstable fringe of society. These uninformed ignorant people that rely on what these commentators spew and have never read anything or listened to actual news accounts are angry and feel oppressed by outside sources, often having nothing to do with government. If something violent occurs, it will be the right wing talkers that will be largely responsible for the event. The talkers are concerned with greed and fame and they are using the ignorant as pawns to fuel sensational broadcasts. So, their listeners are not only not smart enough to know that they are hearing garbage, but they are not smart enough to even act like grown ups and responsible citizens.
I am in NO WAY giving him any credence, just pointing out why they didn’t bust his narrow ass.
Well, it says the blood of patriots and tyrants, so maybe as a patriot he thought he’d go first.
I’ve been callin’ for revolution for years but without the guns an’ shit.
…Or they think the real news is fake, because it doesn’t gibe with the truths that Rush tells them.
After all, guns don’t kill people. It’s the holes left by speeding bullets that are the problem.
Well, you know, we’d all love to change the world.
You may say that I’m a dreamer · But I’m not the only one
I understand; just clarifying the root of my problem with him.
There is some really well done background on this Kostric fellow by a DK poster
Interesting that the teabaggers/Healther Skelters are getting all literate with Jefferson alla sudden.
He apparently also has bad taste in firearms.
Or he’s just been paying too much for health insurance, so he can’t afford a decent piece. ;-)
He’s a fucking idiot.
Funny how they only become worried about tyrants when a Democrat is in office. Eight years of an *actual* tyrant, and they were all totally cool with it.
Exactly my point. How close do you think someone opposed to the Bush Regime showed up at a W or Dick event with a weapon–even in NH where it’s legal–could have gotten.
Honestly…60+ year old librarians were arrested for carrying anti-Bush signs in public places just because a member of the administration was speaking in a public building.
IOKIYAR is getting old. Old, decaying, stinking and rotten.
FWDiva
What a whack job! Here’s the Chris Matthews interview with gun-guy.
And Tweety interviewed this Kostric fellow today too! Fergawdsake why do they give these cretins airtime???
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYUmCj4yud4
One of the guys who does maintenance on the rental properties told me his daughter’s FIL has a house full of military weapons, including a couple machine guns, and ammo. And a real WWII Jeep, white star, the whole 9 yards, in his garage. Never been in the military but is obsessed with the stuff.
Holy crap. I need to link that.
I may not be Gandhi but I’m sure gonna give it hell.
Don’t forget the guy with his six-year old son who got arrested simply for telling Cheney that he didn’t approve of his policies. Where were all these First Amendment enthusiasts then?
I hope in this case, to disarm them by putting their sheer outlandishness on display. Self-discrediting people.
It’s called Sunshine, Baby !
Paint them as radicals and 2010 Elections will be another landslide for the Dems. Keep it coming, Dobbsy !
Synopsis, since I really can’t stand Tweetie? Pleeeeeease?
FWDiva
Ah, but you see, Dick’s their tyrant. Therein lies a world of difference.
You know where the phrase “the whole 9 yards” comes from, right? Quite appropriate in this context.
I took my dad to the dedication of the Pacific Wing of the D-Day Museum in New Orleans and we went out to the Lake for a re-enactment. This one guy had 50’s 4.2’s, BAR’s, more stuff than I had seen outside the military. It was obviously legal cuz he had a huge display.
“Tyrant” to us, “Who’s Your Daddy?” to them.
No laws were broken so no harm/no foul, yet a fair amount of strange cryptic hinting at some live-free-or-die kinda movement.
Oh. Well that explains why they didn’t take his gun or haul him away. Sometimes the obvious escapes me.
But still, it seems a bit of a risk to take.
But that was the trap this dude was trying to set. I guarantee the Secret Service told the locals exactly how to handle it. He also was in someone’s sites at all times.
Quite.
The link is to the TPM piece about it and they give a pretty close description of the interview.
Or their Dick-tator, if you will. If he is unsteady, you might get to see Dick-tator totter.
Testing the limits, poking the bear.
You should have been HERE, people were freaking out.
Serious “collectors” can get a federal permit for automatic weapons. Once they have that they can shoot they little hearts out.
(Titter!)
Sometimes you eat the Bar. . . .
Corporations are beginning to have second thoughts about how Fox affects their image. Sargento, GEICO, some others have dropped Glenn Beck. I’m watching to see if this is a trend.
Because, I can imagine the Foxoids getting more outrageous in order to keep viewer ratings up, which drives corporate ads away, which makes them even more outrageous, which…a financial death spiral. Whether it plays out that way remains to be seen. At least for corporations, this is a center right nation.
A very appropriate analogy, seeing how Obama is a COMMUNIST! Oh, and also Hitler.
Yea, they were having dogfights, water cooled 50 shootin at the planes. My old man got a little edgy.
Yeah, pretty much.
Rights for me, but not for thee…and I’ll give up my rights as long as MY group is in power…and if MY group takes your rights, that’s OK…
Honestly. These folks…their mamas and Sunday School teachers are just rolling over in their graves. And the ones I see on my TV? Most are old enough to bitch about the younger, “ME” generation. Glass houses.
FWDiva
I’m waiting for Fox to spin it as a positive: “Now, with limited commercial interruptions… The Glenn Beck Show!”
Danl Boone kilt one on a tree, or so the story goes.
And another one is largely responsible for the mess we’re in right now…
LOL
Don’t suppose Tweetie asked him why he hasn’t signed up to “Fight ‘em Over There”?
FEH.
FWDiva
Danl Boone? Kilt? Rlly? Didn’t even know he was Scottish.
The Boones should have stuck to making wine. Screw-top, that’s how you know it’s good…
Aite, I expect all this shit to be solved by the time I get back at 5am.
Apples do make the best wine, after all.
If’n I’m lucky I’ll still be snoozin’.
Namaste
I have NEVER been sicker than on BARDENHIEMER’S HARD CIDER, (At the White Horse, ratfood)!
You know he must have been tough to dress a bear in a kilt. Weren’t many caucasian women in Kentucky at the time and Danl musta been feelin’ powerful lonesome. That’s actually where the concept of dancing bears originated. You should have seen them tango.

The stain (probably) remains.
Have a good night, Raven.
LOL. You’re on a tear tonight, mon!
FWDiva
I wanna know how he got the bear to shave its legs.
Are there any updates on the guy claiming he got beat up by SEIU in PA? I’m hoping that there is additional video that will come out soon, like maybe police surveillance tapes. If the entire event is on tape he really does only spend a total of two seconds on the ground and did start the fight, he’s going to have a lot of explaining to do…
TMI!
LOL
TMI!
Also.
LOL!
The whole thing is so bizarre. There’s this SEIU guy on the ground, looking like he’s the one getting beaten up, and another SEIU guy very briefly pulls Gladney down to protect his guy on the ground… and somehow Gladney’s the one who got the beating? It’s like some kind of mutant Munchhausen By Proxy or something.
You mean WATB Gladney. He was on LoudObbs tonight fergawdsake. With his attorney. And no mention of his begging for donations; he even claimed he HAD insurance yet admitted he was unemployed. Like to see how he affords his COBRA.
Any way I keep searching for that video on YouTube but can’t find it yet.
I don’t know where all this is heading, but I can only imagine that it will very painful getting there. How can you have a civil society when you can’t even have a public meeting? How many Tiller-killers are being spawned here? I’m kind of at a loss here to see how we can come back from this type of thuggery. Do we reeducate these people somehow? Ignore them and hope they go away? Give them a podium and pray that they shout themselves mute? What?
And yeah, the only way his story makes sense is if the SEIU guy ended up on the ground as part of retaliation for the *real* beating Gladney received. But somehow I just don’t buy it – Gladney looked pretty spry for a guy who had just taken a beatdown.
Plus you had the conservabloggers pimping the clip as SHOCKING FOOTAGE of Gladney’s BRUTAL BEATING. WTF.
The ground has a well-known Liberal™ bias.
Yes, and another SEIU guy walks toward the camera looking like he has a problem with his shoulder. I don’t think he’s the one on the ground at the start. The one on the ground looks thin and is white and the guy walking toward the camera is husky and black.
Obviously he was beating on Gladney sooo hard that he hurt his shoulder.
Not to mention that lefty gravity. Isaac Newton must have been a Marxist.
And wax its back!
FWDiva
I, myself, have used the Jefferson quote about the Tree of Liberty. Should I delete that diary out on Daily Kos, because I channeled Glenn Beck a couple of years ago?
How could we nourish the tree of liberty? Maybe we starve the complex; we stop paying for our health insurance; we take our money out. We stop feeding the Fear Vampire. We stop feeding the Worry Vampire. We hang together and bring the beast down.
I don’t think it would take that long, if we could all hang together. Or surely, we will all hang separately. (Metaphorically speaking, of course, on the petard of our own self-interest)
No clue. I don’t know what the endgame is for this, other than it will definitely result in someone’s blood being spilled.
And most likely, it will be the blood of a cop doing their duty or someone who is just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Did you use it while carrying a gun, or right after talking about shooting illegal immigrants in the head?
Fortunately for both of them, Brazil wasn’t even a country yet.
Here’s the YouTube.
I take back my earlier comment. I watched a few more times and the guy on the ground at the beginning probably is the guy with the sore shoulder.
707! 707!
Yer killin’ me here!!!
FWDiva
I’ve watched the clip a zillion times, and I don’t even really see WATB-gladney hit the ground. There’s certainly no obvious fisticuffs right before he starts bopping around without a visible scratch on him. If someone hadn’t said it happened “at the 0:06 mark”, I’dve missed it altogether.
So…are they claiming the reports of requests for donations were wrong, or was it just an opportunistic shakedown?
FWDiva
Lets take this guy serious just what has Obama done that is so tyranical?
Listened to American’s phone calls?
Deprived people of the right to a a speedy trial?
Tortured people? ok not Americans but its still illegal by American and international law.
Maybe he’s angry about the bank bailout Bush’s idea which Obama followed up on?
Does he think healthcare won’t let him choose a Doctor
Does he think Healthcare will kill his baby?
Just what is his objection and are any of his objections not based on Fox news Lies?
The tall SEIU guy kind of grabs him around the waist and pulls him down with him right after the other teabagger almost steps on the guy on the ground.
Gross.
The only explanation I’ve been able to come up with for why they’re so convinced that Obama’s healthcare plan would kill them is… it’s what they would do.
We need that SEIU guy who was on the ground to file a lawsuit and take an FBI lie dector test on National tv.
Then we need him to ask Gladney to take one and answer a few questions like who started the fight? Did anyone pay him to go to the rally?
That kind of thing.
I’m thinking this was a set up and the tea baggers might be liable!
Hoooo, good one.
Nope, you got me there.
Sounds like they’re a little unclear on the concept of speed dating.
I did find it interesting that that one teabagger kept bellowing, “YOU ATTACKED HIM! YOU ATTACKED HIM FOR NO REASON!!!” That’s an awfully loose definition of “attacked”.
Unless he was a non-SEIU non-teabagger yelling at the teabaggers who were beating the SEIU guy. But, again, I kinda doubt it.
Nothing too exotic, just the bear necessities.
See the press is not doing their job I want the crazy on display to scare moderate voters away from the GOP.
Give him some air time and then knock holes in every lie he says.
The MSM should do the same for Sarah on her up coming book tour.
Oh I thought I heard Ann Coulter said she won’t write anymore books weird net rumor? If its true why?
See set up
no Americans got tortured? Padilla, Lindh and Hamdi would beg to differ I think.
I don’t think these people would object in the least to people who disagree with them getting surveiled, tortured… or worse. For them, democracy is the right to think exactly like they do, or else.
I stand corrected!
From the last picture I saw of her, she probably doesn’t have the stamina to write a book – she looked as if she were starving.
Do we have a name for the guy that did the yellling? I bet they were working together.
That bad whats wrong?
Not a net rumor. I saw it in a piece of corporate media a while back. No real reason given, I don’t remember the lame excuse, but her last screed bombed. She couldn’t even get the usual bulk buyers interested. They’ve prolly got storage units filled with her old stuff that they can’t get rid of. “Join Now and get 6 copies of each of Ann’s books. Act now, supplies are limited.”
The interesting thing is that almost to a one, when pressed like this they have tended to flip over to a mode along the lines of “It’s no one thing, can’t you see? It’s so obvious! Our America is being shredded, bit by bit.” I have yet to hear any coherent message after that point, instead they each diverge onto their own personal grievance or conspiracy theory or splinter-group talking point.
I guess I’m seeing a common towering frustration, but very little in the way of a common understanding of either what the problem is, or any plan for dealing with it.
what the teabagger with the holstered gun probably never thought about was the eight or ten snipers who had him zoomed in ..just waiting for him to twitch … and yes .. they were “out there” .. you can bet on it …
don’t know. she just keeps getting thinner and thinner.
I assumed it was going to be ghost written anyway but Sarah does need to be in good health for a book tour otherwise less sales.
Oh, riiiight! Call me gross and Brazil only gets a “good one”!
FWDiva
The Dark Side of the Force will only take her so far, sooner or later she needs to eat a sammich.
I thought you were talking about Coulter.
Too much blow.
Somebody make a crack about Brazil?
It’s pretty sad when a substantial portion of the real world acts like the nutcases on 4chan’s /b/ board. I’m serious, these guys are the equivalent of Internet trolls, just in real life- and thus, infinitely more dangerous, as they can actually hurt people.
May be. She looked awful and not well.
Something about females with hairy backs. *g*
The GOP bulk buyers didn’t buy it did she finally cross a line even they have moral objections to crossing?
Just kidding
Are the GOP book buyers broke I wonder how other GOP books are selling? Normally a nonGOP who has been on the NYTimes best seller list once can sell a decent amount of books just because they put NY Times best selling author on every book they write after that.
ET might have an idea.
I actually said something very similar in an e-mail. Just like trolls, their job is to jam and disrupt discourse, by sheer volume (in both senses of the word), ugliness, and intimidation. When everyone else becomes so disgusted or skittish that they leave the field, the trolls win.
She’d be the last to admit that she’s ill.
he. the price of liberty? ;-P
Agreed. The fight isn’t about the issues – it never was – it’s about the fight.
Sarah has been looking thin too. I have not seen Coulter in a while but this is getting interesting.
I’ve never read one but from seeing clips of her appearances on the talk shows they’re all the same thing. Ann Coulter rants about the left. Ooooookay. Had to have gotten old, even to the nutters.
Exactly. Ill = weak = loser. The tyrrany of the genetically/hereditarily lucky. In Berkeley folks in wheelchairs have a term for the rest of us: temporarily abled. That’s how I like to think of the healthy and skinny, ‘temporarily abled’.
The townhalls need mods.
I thought she was doing that a decade or two ago are you suggesting its just now catching up to her? I’m not doubting you I’m just wondering if you saw any warning signs? A long term eating disorder could also explain it.
She could be sick drugs and high risk behavior does go hand in hand.
With Ann there are lots of possible scenarios. Maybe she had tea with Glen Beck and Glen gave her the wrong stuff by mistake.
Ha! Would sincerely love to see LurkMod mete out justice to some of the low-info screamers I’ve been seeing in the townhalls.
the fight, and the Black man who’s the boss of them
Guilt. In a just world, it would simply be guilt taking its toll.
word
Or, legislators who are stridently for something.
Just what is the total death count now for victims of right wing violence since Obama got in? How come nobody is sueing Glen Beck? He does seem to be worried.
I’ve noticed the thinness but anybody’s guess is as good as mine. For all I know she may think she’s fat and is trying to lose weight.
might be time to dust off a few sections of the USAPATRIOT Act that they were all so gung-ho about, like: Section 802 of the USA PATRIOT Act (Pub. L. No. 107-52) expanded the definition of terrorism to cover “”domestic,”” as opposed to international, terrorism. A person engages in domestic terrorism if they do an act “”dangerous to human life”” that is a violation of the criminal laws of a state or the United States, if the act appears to be intended to: (i) intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping. Additionally, the acts have to occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States and if they do not, may be regarded as international terrorism.
Seizure of assets – Sec. 806: Section 806 of the Act could result in the civil seizure of their assets without a prior hearing, and without them ever being convicted of a crime.
hoist, meet petard
By determining the ground upon which the fight will be waged, they win by default. The battlespace is fictional and designed by only one side.
They win because we let them drag us there, and the President has been shockingly absent.
Guilt can result is self destructive behavior drug use, reckless behavior, low self esteem which can lead to an eating disorder etc.
Ya mean this Lurking Mod?
LOL, that’s the one. Actually that’s more kinda what I imagine Freep or Norske looks like..
Ohyeh, that’d definitely help things, to seize a teabagger’s boat and truck. Definitely.
Diary or maybe a front pager can cover it I would love to know why the guy who brought a gun and stood outside Obama’s meeting never said one word about Bush.
Come to think of it by that law Obama could have had him arrested.
Maybe we should get the Patriot act over turned now that Bush is gone?
Haven’t seen a picture of her for ages.
LOL, Norske lookin’ fer trolls.
But really there is no battle here, or only in their own heads.
Luck or design?
perhaps, but one major reason why these thugs are in a mood to fight in the first place is their discontent with the idea of their country being led by an African-American and their own racial insecurities. The president may be absent from the fight in fact, but in their minds he’s the 20,000 pound gorilla in the middle of the room.
Ya gotta think bigger. I’m thinkin’ Murdoch Media, all the ass-ets.
no television in this house
so design, i guess
Ding, Ding fuckin’ Ding
Sure there is. If your aim is to obstruct any conversation, to draw your opponent into the fray, to confound the non-combatants, and forever disable a conversation… and to do it on your terms – that is the battle.
Do you see any media outlet giving fair air to a real health care discussion? Is there one to cover?
This is not about health care.
Heh, well, in that case I would expect mobs in the street. I might join ‘em. The proper antidote for bad speech is more speech, not censorship. IMHO.
Right on.
I’m sure that is an underlying thought, but it isn’t the battle. It’s a wedge used to distract – even racist motherfuckers want and need health care.
Guess what. Blue Texan is up and the title of his post is…wait for it:
All Together Now: The Town Hall Temper Tantrums Aren’t about “Health Care Reform”
I guess I see obstructing the health care debate as a tactic, not a goal in itself. A goal would be what kind of country do we want to have. And on that side there are a thousand answers to that, all different, many of them mutually opposed. Now sure, when one of those folks shows up to a town hall, in their own mind they’re showing up for the particular larger battle that they have in mind. But the key thing is, each one of them is alone on that particular personal battlefield inside their head. There is no massing for any particular major long term goal that I can see. The only thing they agree about is fucking things up, and that’s gonna wear thin before long.
It has always been about obstructing the ‘not their guy’ in the White House or the Legislature or the Governor’s chair. It’s never been about Gays and God and Guns and Islamofascists and health care and whatever their leaders whistle up, but about answering the call to arms against ‘them.’ Them is whoever they say they are.
That side acts in seconds and minutes, not weeks and months. They strike instantly and ferociously and the next day it’s the same deal against whoever the FAX machine tells them to.
And Chaos is their friend and ally.
I’m sure that’s true for some of them, but I’m not as optimistic about either their motivations or their sense of self preservation. I’m sure some of them would rather see the president fail even if that means they suffer for it. And they’ll think their ’sacrifice’ patriotic too.
Yes, I agree. But since there is no larger agenda, we don’t have to worry as much about what happens next in any large sense. All they can do is create that chaos, not coalesce their energies into a single coherent dangerous movement. Not that the chaos isn’t destructive, it is. Just that this beast has a certain character.
I was thinking more along the lines of the various insurance and/or pharma co.s, but Scammity, Limpballs and their ilk would be good too. wonder if that’s why Caribou Barbie walked her weekend comments back.
It should be: Eliminationists ‘Я’ Us
How’d you do that? Unicode Cyrillic or something?
Their ads stay on FOX, they just removed them from Beck’s wingnut theatre.
