I’ve made this point previously, but I think it’s worth repeating: these town hall protests (why do they continue?) are not about the country debating health care reform. They’re ideological hissy fits, orchestrated by the Republican party and their corporate cronies.
Their purpose: to vent about "SOCIALISM!" — which for the Teabaggers is everything from the stimulus to Medicare and Social Security – and fatally wound a Democratic President in the process.
But don’t take my word for it. Listen to them.
It’s about Obama.
If we’re able to stop Obama on this it will be his Waterloo. It will break him.
It’s about partisan politics.
We have an opportunity to realistically kill Obama’s agenda.
It’s about paranoia.
I don’t believe this is just about health care…this is about the systematic dismantling of this country.
It’s about extremism.
Kostric was also carrying a sign that said, "It is time to water the tree of liberty," an apparent reference to this quote attributed to Thomas Jefferson: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
And yes, it’s about race.
While [Georgia Rep. David] Scott acknowledged the legitimate concerns that many Americans have when it comes to overhauling health care, the congressman also expressed worry about the debate’s undertone. Scott e-mailed me a sampling of some of the rougher health care mail he’s received — the ones with variations of the n-word.
“You were, you are, and you shall forever be but a ———-,” one fax to his office reads. The missive includes a mug of President Barack Obama with a hammer-and-sickle stamped on his forehead.
“The folks are not going to stand for socialized medicine even though most Negroes refuse to stand on their own two feet,” says another.
People are watching. And as Ambinder notes, these town halls have exposed the putrid underbelly of the conservative movement — to the GOP’s detriment.
There were boos when Specter reaffirmed his president’s Americanness.
That’s the problem when you mobilize your base for the cameras and it’s full of black helicopter lunatics. Ask John McCain how that worked out for him.

And coming to a location near you, Teabaggers against climate change legislation. Same groups, different clients.
Is Sestak holding a town hall, if anyone knows? Might be interesting to see if the nuts would take him on.
Hey there, Ms FWD.
I am really looking forward to Friday when Obama appears at a townhall with Mad Max in Bozeman (notoriously Republican). Between our plethora of far right fringe lunatics (ask Dave Neiwert)and irate Montanan pissed at Max for gutting healthcare reform, this should be a doozy.
Whores take all comers.
EPU’d (right on cue BT, thx!): I guess I see obstructing the health care debate as a tactic, not a goal in itself. A goal would be what kind of country do we want to have. And on those folks’ side there are a thousand answers to that, all different, many of them mutually opposed. Now sure, when one of those folks shows up to a town hall, in their own mind they’re showing up for the particular larger battle that they have in mind. But the key thing is, each one of them is essentially alone on that particular personal battlefield inside their head, or there are like 2 other folks who actually agree on what they want as a Big Goal. There is no massing for any particular major long term goal that I can see. The only thing they agree about is fucking things up… and that’s gonna wear thin before long.
brainbleachstat.
Are you going to be there?
Nah, just the ones with money.
This is really all so simple. Nothing more needs to be said.
All this noize is about having a “darkie” tellin ‘em what to do.
End of story. Save some pixels.
No. It is tickets only and those are only available in Bozeman starting Thursday. I can’t afford two trips.
They’d be throwing a pissy fit with any Democrat in the White House. The fact he is not completely caucasian just adds fuel to their ire.
This really has little to do with the “goals” of the teabaggers themselves (I don’t think most of them have anything coherent enough to call “goals”). It is about the goals of the Republicans who are orchestrating this. Their goals are quite clear and have been consistent since they lost the election. They want to control the system (voters be damned!) or burn it to the ground.
Hey, Dr. D. I wrote a letter to Senator Bingaman today about getting our health-care chaos fixed. Your son’s plight still has me outraged.
Has a date been set for Kristallnacht yet?
doesn’t just add fuel, it drops a gaddamn nukyular bomb on their ire.
Except they don’t really want to burn it to the ground. That’s just the threat they pretend to wield. It will never actually come to that because that would be against the interests of the corporatists who fund and direct the whole thing.
He is far from the only one and at least he has insurance for himself, his wife, and his other son, as well as his step kids. There are far too many people out there in much worse shape.
Or Webb.
Postponed due to the arrest of Cameron Douglas.
Snippet from an email from”The Penn” Just another progressive Group trying to get Single Payer HR 676 passed. Every tool ya can use to get our critters to get this done!!
You are far more of an optimist than I am. I really think they would rather burn it to the ground than let the Democrats control the agenda. they are like the spoiled little kids who, when they start losing, flip over the game board and scatter all the pieces.
That might be an interesting one, too. I read that 1000 people showed up for Arlen and apparently it was a bit chaotic. Would they treat Admiral Sestak with the same disrespect?
Don’t forget the DLC/Clinton/Blew Dog Dems. They exist in the Party specifically to scuttle actual Liberal reforms. So many fronts to fight, and this was by design.
This is the minefield President Barack Hussein Obama chose to enter, and he’s doing a magnificent job of navigating it so far. We’re just getting warmed up!

how’s everyone doing tonight
First time I’ve been called an optimist in recent memory… I say follow the money. Who benefits? Once you know that, imagine actual civil war in the US and ask whether the resulting disruption would make more money vs. less money for them. Ya sell less insurance and groceries and mortgages during a civil war, I’m just sayin’.
What, Democracy doesn’t mean they get their way all the time? Could it be that home schoolin’ idn’t perfect?
He’s better warm it up fast – he tried that bipartisan crap and now is trying to catch up. This would never have gotten out of control if he hadn’t tried to coddle the Rs. Shame on him.
I could put my sister in the same class — she has coverage. But having myasthenia means that grad school is impossible for her. No one near by offers a program she’s interested in.
I have a dear friend (he helped me get through my divorce) who had to choose between eating, paying the mortgage and paying for health insurance. He’s holding on until he’s eligible for Medicare in two years.
It is distressing, even if they aren’t the worst cases.
Oh forgot to mention that I think all theses yelling fools are just Sheeple who don’t have a brain to realize that they to will be Victims of the Health Care Insurance Companies once they or a loved one face a major Medical issue and the insurance companies start denying benefits!! What Fools!!
Well of to dinner …be back later…
What a run on sentence…
Cui bono is always a good question to ask.
Huh?
Relax and say cheese, as in apple caramel cheesecake.
Yeppers. Ya cancel yer social contract only at grave personal risk; You’re On Yer Own is a suicide pact. A reflective person would see that as a matter of course.
Ergo…
I think that a lot of the money boys feel invincible behind their money and power. Probably think that they would emerge in charge after the collapse in some sort of corporate feudality. These aren’t the sharpest tacks in the box for the most part, remember that they are the ones who brought us the current financial collapse. The political leaders on the other hand are just plain crazy as well as stupid.
Michael Douglas’ son Cameron got arrested recently with a pound of crystal meth. Gets better, his girlfriend just got arrested trying to take him heroin in jail.
pushing away my slice of boston cream cake and grabbing that – thank you
To anyone with a heart or a conscience this is simply intolerable. Unfortunately our corporate overlords and their Republican and Blue Dog lackeys are lacking both attributes.
Have to say I am considerably less than impressed on that score myself.
I watched the Chris Matthews interview of the guy with the gun outside of the Obama town hall. He was basically just mumbling Ron Paul generalities and that he was just exercising one of his freedoms. Matthews was pissed about the gun.
Don’t underestimate the overconfidence of those lucky enough to succeed early in life. As a group they tend not to realize the degree to which their ongoing loftiness is due primarily to the support of others. They don’t realize one slip, or one slip by their patron, and they’re gone — ’til it happens to them personally. Meantime they feel immortal. Paulson and Geithner would be good examples of this sort of person. So not stupid, just kinda foolish. Riding for a fall and not knowing it.
I disagree with that. The “bipartisan crap” is exactly why he’s gonna win this. It’s all about planting seeds and they’re about to start spouting.
Remember, all this noize is almost exactly what happened during the Prez campaign and so many Liberals were wringing their hands about how Obama was losing “control” of the narrative. He won in landslide, not because the Economy was tanking, but because he was the adult.
I’ve devoted incredible amounts of time in my adult life fighting for single-payer and know it’s the answer for so many problems, and I’ve never been more excited about potential legislation. It’ll be the slippery slope toward single-payer, and best yet, he’s using the Reich Wing frames against them. Obama’s really an incredible person to learn from, and his successes so far give me much Hope.
Man, oh man, oh Manischewitz.
Trying to smuggle heroin into the slam to a high profile inmate in with a drug rap? That’s beyond stupid.
It’s hard to believe Obama was ever naive enough to think that conservatives (in either party) would play a constructive role in implementing his agenda. Now that they’ve rejected the carrot I keep HOPING he’ll show them the stick.
There is no stick for the Rs. They have no party. Can’t punish a dead man.
BTW, for anyone who wants to understand a little about the economy, go to the Federal Reserve website and look at the numbers for excess reserves.
That chart explains all about why things are entirely f***ed up right now.
I did not say stupid necessarily (though many really are), just not really any more than average intelligence and with considerably less than average common sense or knowledge of the real world. Most of them have lived inside insulated shells most of their lives and, as you say, convinced of their own immortality.
I hope you are right. I want him to succeed but he needs something to shock him into reality about the Rs. He’s apparently always been good at getting things done, but this is a whole different game and he needs to realize that.
I might believe in that, if President Obama had shown the disloyal opposition the stick even once in the last six months.
Tweety, surprisingly, has gotten quite agitated about this whole thing and has done some masterful take downs of several of these asshats. Wonder what put the bug up his ass?
If he’d just been using, I’m confident dad’s money could have gotten him off with a fine and a stint in rehab. The fact that he was dealing is also beyond stupid. Let us hope Cameron and his girlfriend do not procreate.
maybe that is what’s wong with the town hall thugs. They’re all methheads.
California has mandatory rehab for users. I knew he’d been dealing when you said he was in the slam. But most dealers are also users…
Sorry, but “bipartisanship” only works if both sides play and the Rethugs have not played for 30 years. Remember that these are the peopel who defined it as “date rape.”
iirc tweety has diabetes – his health insurance co must extract a pretty penny for his ‘coverage’.
Agreed.
Thanks for posting this article. It has given me a moment of calm in the chaos that is right wing extremism. Especially this line and the related article:
“People are watching. And as Aminder notes, these town halls have exposed the putrid underbelly of the conservative movement — to the GOP’s detriment.”
Keep up the good work! :-)
They are candidates for a Darwin Award.
Isn’t Tweety a one-time beat cop? I’ve known a few beat cops, and none of them have been terribly fond of the idea of everyone walking around with a gun on their hip.
Ooooo! That could explain a lot. I was thinking a relative with issues.
The GOP reminds me of the missionary who was captured by cannibals who informed him that after they ate him for dinner they planned to use his hide to make a canoe. Grabbing a fork, the missionary started plunging it into himself. When the cannibals asked what he was doing he told them, “Maybe I can’t stop you from eating me but I’m going to fuck up your canoe!”
He was busted in NYC.
You’ve got to die to win that one. I think that verified voluntary sterilization should make them eligible too…
It is not just the guns, it is the whole healthcare reform thing. The other two I can think of that he deconstructed are leaders of Gooper/insurance industry astroturf organizations.
I agree.
Yep.
Ooops. NYC has some seriously draconian drug laws… see ya in a decade or so, Cameron.
They are certainly working on it.
Of course he anticipates this. He’s hoping a few will splinter off, but they’ve been so incredibly predictable for so long that it doesn’t take much to know what’s they’re gonna do.
Just as he did during the campaign, and on several issues so far as Prez, Obama has thought through 2-3 steps ahead.
Still boggles my mind that people would call a guy who rose quickly through the Chicago political machine, and then becoming America’s first melanin-enhanced President at 47, with no money or connections in his background, and with a “terrorist” sounding name, taking down the Clinton/DLC and Repub machines all at the same time, naive.
If he makes it out alive. They have a pretty draconian penal system as well (but then so does Cali).
I guess I’ll have to give Tweety another listen.
Cenk Uyrgar caught what was really significant about the gun-toting idiot. His sign was modeled after the T-shirt that Timothy McVeigh was wearing when he was picked up by police, shortly after the Oklahoma City bombing! Later in the day Tweety put the guy on his show and grilled him, but let the McVeigh connection go.
From Wikipedia-
Heh heh… still daid, though…
True, dat.
I do not believe that Barack Obama is under any illusions about the nature of the opposition – either from inside or outside the party.
I am sorry, but there is no other word for a melanin enhanced Democratic president who thinks that the modern Republicans will play nice and that he can work with them.
We’re dicks! We’re reckless, arrogant, stupid dicks. And the Film Actors Guild are pussies. And Kim Jong Il is an asshole. Pussies don’t like dicks, because pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes: assholes that just want to shit on everything. Pussies may think they can deal with assholes their way. But the only thing that can fuck an asshole is a dick, with some balls. The problem with dicks is: they fuck too much or fuck when it isn’t appropriate – and it takes a pussy to show them that. But sometimes, pussies can be so full of shit that they become assholes themselves… because pussies are an inch and half away from ass holes. I don’t know much about this crazy, crazy world, but I do know this: If you don’t let us fuck this asshole, we’re going to have our dicks and pussies all covered in shit!
With the exception of his loss to Bobby Rush he pretty much bypassed the Chicago machine. I sometimes fear that he rose too quickly and never had time to absorb the lessons of real world governance.
Leave
Britneyhome grown right wing terrorists ALLOOOOOOOONNNNNEEE!That is now my fear as well.
I still don’t understand why the Secret Service left him alone. I hear that some of them are even college gradyouates and all … can’t they understand symbology?
Or does a threat have to be absolutely explicit for the Secret Service to act? If that’s the case, why were Bush protestors shunted off to so-called Free Speech areas?
And there you have it. The whole theory of Rethug political activism in a nutshell. Permanent Darwin award laureates.
I think they have orders to “go easy” and explicitly not repeat the Bush process.
I like Team America: World Police, too. But what’s the relevance here?
we could solve this with “free” speech zones for all those carrying weapons.
Matthews started out like gangbusters and tried to intimidate gunman. When he couldn’t, he eased up. There was plenty of time for him and his staff to research this guy. Guess they didn’t feel like it.
I try to simply ignore stream of unconsciousness incoherence.
Trying to figure out whether yr 1st para is snark or not…
I should think that carrying a loaded weapon around (remember, all guns are loaded until you’ve visually verified that the magazine and chamber are empty) would change the equation.
good evening firepups.
the repigs are all obstructionists these days.
He’s leading by example, no? By being really consistent in his approach as “bipartisan,” he maintains the higher ground. I think he realizes that it’s probably not going to work at this point in most cases, but in terms of winning over electorate for himself and Dems in general, it’s important to create that image, if nothing else.
It’s a win-win either way. He’s been getting most of what he’s wanted so far, and he has many other tools in his quiver. Long-term thinking will help us Liberals in the long term.
I think that would be “free range” zones.
There’s a chicken joke in there somewhere.
Quasisnark.
Evening, FDL’ers
That’s what I eventually concluded, yes, so thx…
Hey Pups. I’m late to the party. Just broke out of prison. I’m hoping Beck covers it tomorrow.
Apparently, he was not in real proximity to anywhere the President would actually believe, but I generally agree with you. I think Obama is going out of his way to avoid provoking these asshats (as if simply breathing wouldn’t do that).
Where’s the “Don’t Tase Me Bro!!” dude at. They should be rolling that over and over.
BTW, International Business Daily has edited the editorial that said the UK’s National Health Service would allow Stephen Hawking to die by refusing care to him.
Have some apple caramel cheesecake, Bets.
Free 2nd Amendment Zones? Steels cages with no openings, perhaps?
Pretending that it never happened now?
I was trying to rewrite it a bit…
And if they had taken his gun or arrested him or thrown him out, it would have been Obama taking away someones god-given right to tote around a gun for no good reason.
Atrios today: “Nobody could’ve predicted that electing a black man president would drive this country completely fucking insane”.
You realize that’s a Repub talking point, right?
All the paper targets and ammo you can use.
In a place where having a gun is clearly inappropriate (and under Bush would have gotten you shot or imprisoned or both).
I’ve got a slightly off-topic question:
Why is it that progressives can’t get their act together enough to organize national boycotts of companies that advertise on shows like Beck’s, O’R’s, Limburger, Fox (in general), etc? It seems basic to me that striking at the advertising revenue of the broadcasters is something that will have an effect. Geico, Progressive, Proctor-Gamble, etal pulled out of Beck. Yes, they switched the spots to other shows on the Fox “lineup”, but a well-organized campaign could take care of that problem, too.
I mean…just exactly how fucking hard is this, anyway? (Not very, me thinks.)
One of our real concerns here at Chez Countertenor is an assassination attempt on Obama. I’d sleep better if I thought the Secret Service was on this like ugly on a gorilla. Today’s episode didn’t give me oodles of confidence about it.
Except all of us who said that in August.
Too late. We already know IBD is a bunch of morons.
Unfortunately, while his action wouldn’t fly in most places New Hampshire has a right to carry law. That is why he moved there from Arizona.
dick cheney
Why thank you!
True.
There’s a white on Rice joke in there somewhere.
I’m having a hard time seeing what the “win” is in giving these nutcases a pass. It just seems like they will be emboldened to see what else they can get away with. “Hello Officer, I’m just sitting here with this sniper rifle in this here book repository, exercising my 2nd Amendment rights. Don’t make me late for my appearance on Hardball either.”
More or less:
If FDL, Kos, TPM, Media Matters, C&L, and other progressive bloggers would all get on the same page, I think some real damage could be done. Boycotts are relatively cheap and easy to make happen. This ain’t exactly brain surgery. Why is it not happening? What am I missing? Jeebus Xmas.
We can and do. A petition campaign is curently targeting Beck’s advertisers and several (Proctor & Gamble, Lawyers.Com, GEICO, & one other that I forget right now) have dropped him.
I’d have thought it too rooted in reality for them.
Bada BOOM!
I find that law inexplicable, but what do I know.
You and me both. I have been afraid of that since August.
yep-that was the play called. Wanted to make it Obama taking away their guns. But their real play is having one of the crazies take out Obama. It would be “cleaner” than doing it themselves. Plus, anthrax is so expensive these days.
Figures. Asshats actually believe their reputation is not already trashed?
I didn’t. I’d never heard of them until today. Now I know…
Big libertarian influence, apparently.
Good question. The boycott has been a demonstrably effective technique at times. I don’t know why we’re not making better use of it.
Yes, I’m aware of that. My understanding is that some of the spots were simply moved to different time slots. While that might affect Beck’s show, it still pours revenue into Fox. A nice warm-up. Now let’s get serious and start targeting every friggin’ thing they got over there at Murdoch’s shop.
I also remember many, many days/nights debating with most here back last August that a Black man could never get elected, and many other things that were proven wrong.
I do believe that if this person had been in range to harm Obama, they would have handled it just a little differently.
Not to speak ill of the man, but it seems to me that moving to a different state solely so you can openly carry a firearm suggests an unhealthy obsession with the things.
I believe I would have stationed a uniformed officer right next to him, with instructions to have his baton (or Asp, or whatever they’re carrying now) drawn and ready to kneecap the guy if he made move one toward that holstered weapon.
Intimidation cuts two directions.
you and bct and me too. i was actually shocked he was alive to be inaugurated. remember the campaign stop in was it dallas? where they stopped the metal detectors because it was taking too long to let everyone in?
Wouldn’t be my first choice of a life-organizing principle. (Heathen pagan Berkeleyite that I am.)
Here is a link to sign the petition being circulated by color of change. As of today, four sponsors have dropped him (Progressive Insurance as well as the three I listed above).
Maybe techie bloggers would feel embarrassed by anything “so 60’s” as a boycott.
You’re assuming those “people” have those megaphones based upon “ratings” and ad revenue.
That is not why they have those jobs. They are there to push BigMoney ideology on the John Q. Nascar so he keeps voting against his own self interests, and in favor of BigMoney.
Many of these shows have not been proftable for many years, yet they keep getting more markets or promoted to primetime. Boycotts are only gonna do so much.
Wait, you’re saying the president is BLACK?!
(stolen from many Atrios commenters)
I think more targeted boycotts are more effective and still exert pressure on Fox to dial it back. Given Fox’s demographic you are unlikely to get an advertiser to drop the whole network, but they will certainly dump the more egregious shows.
Aside from which, New Mexico allows open carry of firearms with exceptions for bars, liquor stores, schools and (maybe, I’m not sure) churches. No need to move to New Hampshire, he could have moved to NM and accomplished the same. If he was eligible, he could even have a concealed carry permit here too.
Not that I’m any sort of fan of concealed carry permits.
Mode SNARK ON
Nah. He’s white. I saw pitchers of he’s Momma and all, and she’s white.
Mode SNARK OFF
I’m not saying this guy was necessarily the crazy they were counting on. They think,” If not this one, eventually someone will do the dirty work.”
A while ago, Obama was getting 30 death threats a day. I wonder what the count is now?
Thanks, DD. I’ve been like the proverbial broken record on this the past several days, mainly because I know it works. It’s a very good weapon, IMO. I did sign up with “color…” a few days back, btw. My hat is in the ring.
Again, a nice warm-up. Now, let’s get all the progressive bloggers on the same page and really get serious. This sort of action does work.
Even though I am a gun owner, I am not a big fan of private citizens (including security guards) carrying firearms in public unless they are hunting or at the shooting range.
Ah right, it’s like Jewishness, I’d forgotten…
…and thanks much for the helpful identifying tags, obviously my snarkdetector’s in need of a warranty trip to the regional service center tonight.
Funny you should mention that. I was just thinking how effective those 60’s tactics were. All we’d be doing is using current technology to do (basically) the same thing.
Doubtless more that 30.
I find this distressing.
Point taken. If Fox whacks out Beck, then I would consider that a battle won…and on to the next target.
Very, but I knew it was coming. There is a small, but very agitated minority out there who will never accept a Black man as president (and a much larger group who can be moved to get agitated about it).
My feelings exactly. I’ve gotten rid of all my guns except my Ithaca .22 single shot (my first gun), because my wife really dislikes guns. I don’t hunt anymore, and while I’ve thought about taking up target shooting again it would create a lot more friction at home than I’m willing to put up with.
That Ithaca has some serious sentimental value to me (it’s the gun my Dad taught me to shoot with, endless arguments about shooting righty vs. lefty and all) and I won’t get rid of it. There are limits, after all. But I don’t keep any .22 ammunition around and it’s stored in a bag at the back of my closet’s top shelf.
As EDP said, it is indicative of an unhealthy obsession.
Heading out. Splendid evening to all.
Exactly. It also helps focus our energies so that they are more effectively deployed. If it gets too diffuse, then the targets will start to ignore it. sort of the boy who cried wolf syndrome.
g’nite ratfood (and any other leaving sleepy pup)
I just read that Bill-O was bragging on the air about how good the ratings are over there at Fox (because they’re so “fair and balanced”, of course.) I know that Murdoch didn’t/doesn’t really care how much red ink he bled on some of his acquisitions. However, at some point he’s got to say “uncle”. If ad revenue dried up, he’d eventually be left with no alternative but to change course.
I quit hunting when I moved to Chicago and have not taken it up again since I moved to Montana (just really does not seem worth the effort). I have .41 magnum pistol for camping in bear country, which spends most of its time unloaded, broken down, with a trigger lock in the closet. the ammunition is elsewhere.
Y’all think this is the domestic radical right finally getting around to reacting to the domestic radical left in the 60’s? I mean the shootings, bombings, threats to order… in the 60’s it was lefties doing that awful stuff. Of course the lefties don’t do any of that any more, except I guess for some fringe animal rights groups, but are the righties nowadays picking up their old model? And is that what they mean when they talk about the need to adopt the ‘tactics of the left’? I’d been thinking they meant Code Pink, but maybe they really mean Huey Newton…?
The best way to protect Obama is to blame the guilty BEFORE something can happen. And it should be coming from Biden. And it should be backed up by Holder.
Again. Point taken. So your strategy is: Pick your battles and then execute. Right?
Night. Think I will head off as well. Want to do some early morning communing with nature. Trying to get in all of that I can over the next two weeks, before the lock me back in my cage again.
(If I may:) Tread carefully there, Thoughtcrime lies in that general direction, as does domestic surveillance, infiltration of citizen groups, etc.
Good night, RF and Dr. D.
Elegantly and succinctly and correctly stated.
Night, Pups. I’m out, too. Keep fighting the good fight.
Oh hell, they have been doing this since the 70s. They have assasinated public figures, robbed armored cars & National Guard armories, they have blown up dozens of abortion clinics, then there are McVeigh and Rudolph. They have just been quiet for the past eight years because they thought things were going their way.
Yes.
I’m in need of some print-outs I can hand out and hide in among the magazines at the laundromat, beauty shops, etc.
Got in an argument with 3 ladies at laundromat. “Well we all have our own opinions. You might like the way the country’s going but I don’t. ” Yeah but we don’t have our own facts. “Well I’m gonna get that sheet an print it out and bring it!”
Ooo I am scared now. She said babies wouldn’t live if they weren’t perfect, people wouldn’t get Medicare anymore, Obama wants to have people snitch on who is telling about the health plan so they can spy on them, on and on. I don’t have a single place to go where I can get simple (VERY simple) fact sheets. Whitehouse.gov has something but it has people giving video explanations. That Won’t Work Here. They kept saying “have you read it? I have.” Oh please.
I don’t understand, can you expand?
But isn’t it interesting that the far left seems to have abandoned those same tactics in that same time frame?
Ruturd lost like $500 million with Pox Newz in its first few years. Lewinsky fluffing is when they started to turn it around, and their capitalizing on 9/11 jingoism is when they actually started doing well with ratings.
Pox Business channel has been a horrific failure in ratings an revenue, yet several years later, it’s still going and getting its budget increased.
This is just Ruturd history. When you analyze other media, the “ratings” to “conservative” viewpoint correlations are even more incoherent.
Ratings and revenue have nothing to do with it. Nothing.
Sure, you said “The best way to protect Obama is to blame the guilty BEFORE something can happen. And it should be coming from Biden. And it should be backed up by Holder.” I just meant that that could be interpreted, whether you meant it that way or not, as advocating for law enforcement to interfere with citizens before any law has been broken.
Right. Because it is a vehicle of propaganda, and propaganda costs money.
time for me to vanish too – night all.
Did they acknowledge the correction?
KO was all over that one tonight. Rightly so…I mean, really, how stupid do you have to be?! I mean, that’s PJ Media/NRO-quality drivel!
FWDiva
Oh, I see.
Due to the evidence already on view for the American public, I think a wel[-tailored speech/statement could be crafted to encompass the apprehension Americans are feeling, and the fact that guns have been brandished by some of the participants. etc.
Kids are passing through metal detectors every day at school. Maybe they should be set up for these situations. At least it would illustrate that law enforcement was taking these possible threats seriously.
Shipping containers? There’s a surplus of those, I hear!

Margot, I admire your effort, and maybe fact sheets will penetrate where discussion doesn’t. Just remember that some people don’t want to be confused by facts.
sedition is still on the books. Gonzo tried to prosecute a VA nurse named Laura Berg in 2005 for writing a letter to the editor in a local paper alleging that shrub is a crook and should be overthrown. By this standard, Beck should’ve been locked up a long time ago.
See my 122.
Conspiracy too. I’m not saying don’t investigate troubling leads, just that inflammatory speech per se is not evidence of a crime about to happen.
Yah, agree with all that.
Gonzo was definitely an AA admission to law school. I think a good working rule for lawyers would be to ask AGAG what to do, and then do the opposite.
Margot,
Does this help at all?

Rachel said today that timothy McVeigh was wearing a tree of liberty
T-shirt when he was arrested.
hehe. I guess it was under shrubco. The tragic reality is that if we were the ones disrupting rethug town halls and shrub was still president, there is no doubt in my mind we would all have been spied on, added to the no fly list, prosecuted, jailed and probably gitmo’d.
Thank you, BCT…they got angry when I told them what I knew to be fact. These were middle-aged and younger women. It’s a shame.
He’s getting the band back together.

No doubt in my mind. Could have already happened with all the black sites set up.

The “death panels” are already here
Sorry, Sarah Palin — rationing of care? Private companies are already doing it, with sometimes fatal results
Thank you Chris, I’m going to see if that will help. It’s a start. Why the White House has let it get to this point, I really don’t know.
Listening to too much RushBo, O’Lielly and Beck I dare say.
suz is upstairs git your led out!!
it’s not just voting (R) that is against most people’s interests – voting (D) gets expanded pointless wars in Afghanistan, absolution and continuance of Bush’s torture regime, hundreds of billions of dollars to bail out the Wall Street swine who wrecked the economy, and this whole ‘health insurance reform’ farce.
chortle at wingnut antics all you want, but their stupidity does not magically make your positions good, true and beautiful.
The real money is in the reconstruction. Bridges, water and electricity grids all for some E-Z low monthly payments from the World Bank. What better way to restart an economy and indentured servitude to our financial overlords.
For a second I thought you wrote, “Free FIRE Zones” for those packin’ heat.
Logical outcome: You’re there filling in a pothole in the road in front of your driveway because there is no longer any Dept. of Public Works in your town. Suddenly you look up to see your neighbor’s eyes behind a rifle sight. He is morally certain you are planting an IED. Bye bye, you.
those with a vested interest in maintaining the status quo for the own enormous profits, campaign donations and ratings have pandered to and manipulated the fear some in this country have; but not to health care reform but to a democrat – and not just any democrat but an african american democrat as well.
after eight years of demonizing the democrats and telling america to be afraid, be very afraid, while at the same time telling their supporters they were annointed by God Himself, and they were His “true americans.”
democrats are hollywood, gay conspiring, abortion loving, tax and spend, wealth redistributing from hard working true americans to lazy, shiftless and probably illegal, pals with terrorist, soft on crime, taking your guns and bibles away, evil incarnate.
when those at town hall meetings yell out, “i want my america back,” or “this isn’t my america,” what they are saying is “i want my republican america back,” “this isn’t my republican america.” sure you can have those silly elections and majority rules – i vaguely remember some teacher telling me that was the definition of a democracry, but republicans are suppose to win, one way or another.
