All of this is unnecessarily and unhelpfully divisive and provocative. They [the White House and Democrats] are mocking and menacing concerned citizens. This only makes a hot situation hotter. Is this what the president wants? It couldn’t be. But then in an odd way he sometimes seems not to have fully absorbed the awesome stature of his office. You really, if you’re president, can’t call an individual American stupid, if for no other reason than that you’re too big. You cannot allow your allies to call people protesting a health-care plan “extremists” and “right wing,” or bought, or Nazi-like, either. They’re citizens. They’re concerned. They deserve respect.
Shorter Noonan: if the Democrats would stop dressing like slutty socialists, they wouldn’t get raped.
By the way, I don’t recall Nooners chiding W. when his allies were calling people "traitors" and "terrorist sympathizers" or "communists," or hurling accusations that they hated America and our troops. Guess only certain concerned citizens deserve respect. The Teabaggers.
…the health-care protesters have to make sure they don’t get too hot, or get out of hand. They haven’t so far, they’ve been burly and full of debate, with plenty of booing. This is democracy’s great barbaric yawp.
This is the first time I’ve seen racism and death threats described as "great."

Neil Boortz read that very slowly to his audience this morning while going nuts over the term racist.
It’s all making me quite insane. David Gregory was just on MSNBC, saying “although there has been ’some talk’ that these reactions are manufactured, it doesn’t diminish the fact that people out there are scared”.
SO, WHY DON’T YOU REPORT THE FACTS, so people will calm down, IDIOT?!?!
citing nooners and then picking her apart?
you should go for bigger game…at least here.
her arguments are clearly lies.
must be a slow day in August.
how about those yankees?
Wait. Wait. Wait. That’s alot of Nooner to absorb. But what struck me IMMEDIATELY is Obama’s allies (I guess that’s us) are calling the teabaggers “Nazi-like”????????????????????? Dearie, you haven’t been payin’ attention. To the signs THEIR PEOPLE have been holding.
but the demo plan will put seniors to death, and docs out of business, and flood docs with lots of new patients (cause they dont go to the ER now) and give us health care like they have in france and canada (where they speak french), and be socialism, and put a bureaucrat in my Rx bottle.
y-e-s!!!! Jobba! Jobba! Who’s that pitcher they picked up? 4-10 w/ the Padres? Seems to kinda, like, suck, no?
He’s right. I’m scared. Lunatics.
I was always taught that if you want respect then you give respect. These folks are showing none.
Is anyone else finding it disturbing that this airing of our dirty linen is being broadcast across the globe? Is anyone considering what this is doing to American “prestige?”
OT wife of the guy who played music at Anti Tax Tea Bagger Fest busted for cheating the government.
Its not like she needed the cash mind you.

“I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money-power of the country will endeavor to prolong it’s reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.”
Abraham Lincoln
So when we hang (insert GOP asshole’s name here )in effigy, or carry signs with their hitlarized photos, and make veiled or not so death threats I guess that is “good” as well.
“I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money-power of the country will endeavor to prolong it’s reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.” Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln must have had a crystal ball ’cause he surely nailed that one.
When Move On does the Betrayus and has the Nazi-Bush video the wingnuts have the perfect ammo to say this is all just bullshit.
We are menacing concerned citizens by showing up when the Tea Baggers won’t let concerned citizens talk about healthcare?
We want our questions answered the tea baggers could ask questions to but NO! They must stop Citizens from the chance to ask their elected leaders about healthcare.
Just who is fanning the flames Peggy? We got 76% support your side upped the ante I hope our side does go in numbers to Health Care Town halls.
If we do then your side will have nobody to blame but your selves for turning part of our 76% support into activist strong support on this issue.
Besides Peggy just who is your audience BT reads you cause Jane pays him we check the links to you just to get more Negative Material.
Your real readers they don’t want to stop the party and if they won’t we won’t.
Yes, but he said it 150 years ago and the Republic hasn’t been destroyed yet.
We’re some pretty resilient bastards.
I apologize for not being around much. I’ve been having computer problems but I think I’ve got them licked finally.
To further quote Mr. Lincoln:
“At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it?– Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never!–All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.
At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
The Republic hasn’t been destroyed but terribly weakened. It’s always amazing to me how far into the future the early Americans were able to see. Even Eisenhower saw this coming. I don’t see anyone around today who can predict even what’s going to happen next week.
If the GOP riots are artificial maybe the MSM could do some investigating or is that something only bloggers do?
Should we send bloggers to follow the Tea Baggers at Town hall meetings and run their car’s drivers license numbers then check to see who their employers are?
My neighbor (male, well educated and apparently smart) and I ride bicycles for more than an hour nearly every night. His wife has recently taken a job in another state and he’ll be joining her as soon as their house sale closes at the end of the month. I’ve known them for about 5 years, but we don’t see a lot of each other. I assumed that he might be more conservative than I am, since I’m pretty far left politically, but I didn’t have him pegged as a wingnut.
The other night we saw the wildly decorated truck parked along our route that someone drove around and around campus to protest Obama’s speech at commencement — it says Obama is pro abortion and pro “homos.” I commented to my neighbor that the discourse was beginning to frighten me. He claims that it is “no different” than objections to other big issues in the past. I don’t agree — the rhetoric seems much more violent — but I let it go.
Last evening on our ride I made a comment about the health care rhetoric, and in the space of about 3 minutes he opened his mouth and out came a plethora of right-wing talking points. He mentioned, among other things, Soros and ACORN, said we “should take our time” with health care reform, and cited how deep in the hole social security and medicare are. In his view, nobody should get their information or talk to their congressperson at a town hall, since they are just “marketing.”
I was floored, and today I am still in shock. I should have suggested he get his news from someplace besides Fox, but I didn’t think fast enough. Jeebus on a popsicle.
On edit: he also opined that we should have left those journalists in South Korea (and Iran) since they should have known the risks.

I just saw the first link a white woman Lefty pushing a huge GOPer Peggy loses if the protests photos on the news show Whites arguing against whites! Her racist cred disappears the GOP was hoping to start a Black on White fight
for the cameras at one of these rallies not a White on White Riot!
Greed and craziness have always been part of the American landscape, but the Republic always managed to bounce back from its low points. In the past, wealth and education were more or less on parallel tracks. Today, one outcome of the American Dream is that there is an army of folks with financial clout without the commensurate level of education. That presents a new issue of concern.
ACORN whats the fear they don’t have big money they just register voters minority voters but still legal voters.
The GOP has reason to be afraid of that it could cost them elections but massive vote fraud and what all if they have evidence bring it to court!
Don’t tell me ACORN stole an election with Bush in charge and listening to our phone calls.
Sheesh! the GOP and their Fairy Tales.
Is your neighbor’s wife still with him? It has been reported that male Fox News devotees are experiencing a high rate of abandonment by their wives, Who could blame the wives for leaving?
About the only thing I could stammer out was that ACORN simply registers voters, it doesn’t fund anything. I couldn’t come up with anything on Soros, because the only thing I know about him as that people keep accusing Media Matters of being funded by him. I know he contributes to some left-of-center causes.
Last night when I thought about the conversation I got even more distressed — I guess by the reality of his right wing views and the fact that he just disgorged all of the lies Fox News broadcasts.
I hate to play the race card but we need more photos of White Lefties on the news arguing with White Tea Baggers. We have to undercut with video the idea in the racists heads that only Dark people care about this issue.
THe Blue Dogs and the GOP need to see their voters in their districts fighting.
There is no marital discord that I am aware of. She got a better job at another university — they are both well educated — and the only separation is the natural one of moving. He has a JD (but hasn’t practiced law as far as I know) and most recently has run some international programs for one of the colleges. Just not the stereotypical wingnut, although I know they come in all flavors.
And Carmen Miranda wore fruit. Are we supposed to care?
It’s scary how much racism is bubbling to the surface and becoming more and more overt.
Seriously, ACORN seems to have become shorthand for “brown people.” Just like the birther arguments, and so much of the opposition to health care isn’t about whether or not costs will come down. It’s almost like people don’t care if costs continue to rise, just as long as none of their tax money goes to help any immigrants.
Sheesh! It’s frightening. I thought the Neanderthals died out 10,000 years ago.
Hey you did good. You let him know that his is not the only view in the neighborhood. First we must confront them with reality. Which is what you did. Next reality must become to hard for them to avoid it does not have to be you who does this.
Someone else or Reality will get to him if he is meant to be got we can’t save everyone its the hard part of free will.
But you did offer him a chance to listen if he doesn’t take it thats his problem.
Link please?
we are canvassing for healthcare in our neighborhood….and calling and calling senators and our congressman.
y’all do the same. at least the calling.
try this link for TPs, all you need to talk about, with regard to getting the “comfortable” with insurance to see why they should be scared.

and…
you dont have health insurance if you have it through an employer—all you have can be gone with a divorce (if you are the dependent), a lay off, a move to another state, your employer drops its plan.
you are one changed circumstance away from bankruptcy….and COBRA only buffers you for 18 months, if you can afford the cost.
wake up and smell the coffee–all of you who think you are safe cause you are in an employer group.

Rush, Newt and George Will I’m sure push up their averages:)
Hunter at Daily Kos wrote a great blog this morning. An excerpt:
“It almost makes you want to cry. Between Cornyn, Grassley, Limbaugh and Beck, between Dobbs and Morris and Bolton, between birthers and “socialized” medicine but keep-your-hands-off-my-Medicare, the stupid is overwhelming. It’s become a tidal wave of stupid. It’s a giant Noah’s Ark of stupid, in which two examples of every kind of dumbassery known to man have been loaded up to be set adrift on a sea of their own drool.”
http://www.dailykos.com/story/…..and-Morons
The fact that she’s well educated makes it more surprising that she tolerates his creepiness. Unless of course she’s as creepy as she is.
It is expected that the female members of the human family have a little more sensitivity to others and will work to restrain some of the more outlandish behavior of their male counterparts. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out that way.
ask him how he is going to get insurance in that new state he is moving to?
and check out the link at post 33 for TPs for your next ride.
I thought immigrants were not getting healthcare just the same emergency room treatment they get now?
Is the GOP is lying again to anger their base? Its sad when you need lies to rally your base because the truth is not enough. Because your ideas won’t inspire.
Why are countless American people so susceptible to this fearmongering nonsense?
There are dozens of examples of countries who’ve implemented government-run health care, and have had such for decades. In none of these places will you find gas chambers where the elderly are being turned into soylent green.
In fact, a good many of these countries have larger populations (on a percentage basis) of senior citizens, and longer life expectancies. AND they’re being looked after.
What is in the psyche of so many Americans that leads them to think they’re under constant assault from a world that wants only to do them harm? And more afraid of their own government than private industry, who frankly would be only to happy to exterminate them if it was good for profits?
No wonder there’s little sense of a common good anymore.
Be back later must go
What do you suppose Peggy is going to say when someone gets hurt…or killed? She’ll be up for “Tap Dancer of the Year”…
Since when does something need to actually be in the bill for there to be outrage against it?
Can’t provide the link, although a shelter set up for Fox News widows might be expected to see a spike in interest.
You got alot to like with a brown-shirt mob,
birthers, teabaggers, flip-top lids.
- from Marlboro jingle circa 1956 or so, redone.
AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Blue Texan and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
“This is the first time I’ve seen racism and death threats described as great.”
This is just the beginnin’ of August Citizen Texan, by the beginnin’ of September we’ll be at assault and murder…the last days of Weimar are a handy historical reference. The corporate fascists are all in now, they know that if healthcare reform with a strong public option goes through then the jig is up on everythin’ else…if you go look at today’s Research 2000 numbers, you’ll see that Obama’s unfavorables just about match the 38% of folks that either believe he’s not a citizen or “aren’t sure”. This 38% is the top of the fascist base, they can’t go any further so they can only hope to drive Obama’s favorites into “undecided” and get the national split down to 1/3-1/3-1/3 so the center can not hold and violence and intimidation can silence those in “the middle”,just like 1931-33 Germany. This will only work here today if Rahm E gets Obama and the Democratic leadership to cave in…there’s a bit of irony there don’tcha think?
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, THIS IS THE REAL THING!!
I’m probably just going to let it go. He will be away for about 10 days starting tomorrow, and then back for only a couple of weeks before he’s gone for good. No sense making an enemy at this point — I surely won’t convert him. And I’m sure his wife has excellent health benefits (for both of them) at her new job just as she did here.
Well said.
It’s “burly,” dude. Fuckin’ burly.
Sadly I think you’re right on the money. As much as I wish it weren’t true.
immigrants are covered but NOT undocumented.
make sure to tell them Obamacare will mandate their paying for a policy, whether they lose their job or whether it is a terrible policy with sky-high deductibles – Pheonix Woman says everyone loves that part the most.
If she is on tenure, she is fine. I worked in senior mgnt at a big U, but the dean changed and I got shown the door.
still looking 18 months later. COBRA goes. I go.
check out this article.

HR 3200 has subsidies for those who cant afford the insurance….and
it ends the practice where the free riders pay nothing but we all PAY for them through taxes and higher premiums that cover their ER care or Medicaid if they get a chronic illness.
We ALREADY pay for them, but they contribute nothing to the system.
Citizen Sufilizard2:
“As much as I wish it weren’t true.”
You and me, Citizen, you and me…but actually we have been livin this fascist nightmare since the late 1940’s and this political moment right here will define wether or not we wake up in camps or in the streets. There is BAAAAD shit comin’ down but we can’t avoid it anymore…those nasty, skanky assed chickens are gunna afta be yanked off their roosts and plucked.
A couple of humble suggestions?
1. is anyone tracking all the townhalls that are disrupted by geography? by how many are run successfully (everyone gets to speak) and how many are protested but proceed forward and how many are disrupted and/or cancelled?
2. I have noticed that some goopers will actually say something needs to be done about healthcare (Mr. Freedomworks said it and Tweety totally busted him on it) but I have heard them actually say “something needs to be done” and I think those words can be used to our advantage.
Watch this clip of Lawrence O’Donnell put the smack down on Peter Schiff over Medicare.
Pretty good stuff.
http://progressnotcongress.org/?p=2435
Being in the “Rock-n-Roll” biz for 30 years, I have always found that the person with the “loudest” voice or microphone wins the argument. It would seem one of the best ways to “out shout” someone at these town hall meetings is to have a very large, loud PA system… they keep yelling and you just calmly keep turning up the juice…at least you could make you speech and be heard…
Just a thought….
Tip:
Neocons, etc. are like terminators sent to destroy humankind, except they come from the past and are cowards who get others to do their dirty work.
If he has some other evidence that “the people out there are scared”, then he should report that instead of the PR gunk. Damn Liberal press.
Maybe she moved, only not where he thinks. So, when he goes to “meet her” she won’t be there. Or funnier still, maybe she won’t be moving along with him…just staying put while he moves. Wouldn’t that be weird funny?
This is good for other countries to see American freedom of speech
at work.
Maybe we will see more of this through out the world
Abe Lincoln spelled “its” wrong, at least twice?
Just got my renewal notice from BC/BS. A 53% increase for the health insurance for me and my three children. In the last two years, the only claim has been for my son’s wisdom teeth. That means next year I will pay $18,000 for health insurance; that is, the cost of my health insurance will be 100% higher than my federal income tax.
DM
