It’s the lack of introspection and humility in our culture and the lies which support that.

To openly admit that one “could” be wrong invites a scrutiny few of us, liberal or conservative (crazy) takes alot more courage than most of us possess.

For instance, I’ve noticed that most people would rather be lied to than apologized to. If I make an apology, I’ve noticed a curious thing: not only do most of my apologee’s take this as a weakness, they also take it as an admission that my whole life has been wrong and I’ve given them permission to correct every aspect of it. :-)
They don’t realize that I’m attempting to take their point into consideration or their feelings and just, haul off on me.

Nonetheless, I am doing this for myself and not them. I am attempting to correct a mistake or attitude which may not work for me.

To live a life of self-review is most often too much work for most people and, therefore, they don’t grow spiritually. This seems to be endemic in America ( everywhere really) and I’ve also noticed that most people don’t grow beyond the point of their most profound childhood trauma…because they won’t/ can’t bear to examine the hurts they suffered at their parent’s hands/mouths/whatever. They say, at most, “they did the best they could” BS, I say.

Once we start to examine our past honestly, we can find all sorts of kinks in there which need to be ironed out. That’s WORK! most say. I don’t want to do it! So they remain childish adults and stop growing.
I think America and most of the world is comprised of great big kids who’ll never take responsibility for themselves and discipline themselves, and our leaders sure aren’t gonna do it, cause everyone thinks that makes them weak.

The result of this is what we see today, everywhere around us…predators and the people they prey on, condoned by a very sick society. A culture of man which is destroying the planet, usually with an outmoded religious lie at it’s base and all sorts of violence if it is perceived that one is not getting one’s way; because that’s what children do, isn’t it? Throw some sort of tantrum if balked.

Perfect example: that guy who killed all those wimmin in that gym because nobody would “date” him ( or not enough to HIS satisfaction). He was throwing a deadly tantrum. So’s Dobbs; and practically everyone who can’t stand that a black man is president. Or can’t stand the loss of whatever it is they think they should have/possess.

I know this was covered yesterday on some websites, but has anyone read the NYT article about the WH’s negotiations with drug companies? For $80 billion, the drug corporations made sure they weren’t going to suffer if healthcare reform is enacted.
“A deputy White House chief of staff, Jim Messina, confirmed Mr. Tauzin’s account of the deal in an e-mail message on Wednesday night.
“The president encouraged this approach,” Mr. Messina wrote. “He wanted to bring all the parties to the table to discuss health insurance reform.”
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08.....re.html?hp
Rep. Grijalva is not happy about it.
