And it isn’t just people trying to rationalize why the hell they were all for invading Iraq six and a half years ago. It applies to just about every villager when they get called for tossing out some right-wing tripe.
Lou Dobbs won’t just say, "On reflection this birther stuff is ridiculous nonsense, I should just go back to what I’m good at, disgustingly and mindlessly bashing Mexicans." No, he just digs himself in deeper.
And so it is with The Village and it’s attitudes toward the teapartiers and ending civil discourse by screaming over it, an Orange Pekoe Putsch. After all, as Marc Ambinder reflexively said, "it’s just like the liberals when Bush tried to reform social security".
Well, no. When Josh Marshall reminded Ambinder that the protest over social security "reform" did not involve actually screaming at meetings to ruin them, threatening representatives with physical violence including assassination, and generalized douchebaggery, the response was telling:
Democrats may have used different tactics — protesting outside of places as opposed to inside of them — but that’s not terribly germane.
Well, aside from that being the entire point of what Marshall just said, and that it completely contradicts your original argument, you’re right Marc, it is not terribly germane, to you.

Isn’t Marc Ambinder Bill Kristols’s long lost brother?
.

Pittsburgh Shooter had some problems with African American Men, Obama, and his own failure to get a date.
The AP and the NY Times are not covering this?
Lou’s ratings were dropping because of this I heard last week is the trend continuing?
http://dobbsconspiracy.com/
Attaturks first link has an online petition to get rid of Lou Dobbs.
Next I want Glen Beck.
What is he talking about? Bush spoke to Prescreened crowds Group Think to the extreme the applause were guaranteed . We however set up town meetings and the GOP tries and stop debate by screaming.
People were skeptical about Privatizing Social Security it was a dumb idea and the more people studied it the more the Polls went against the President.
The Main Stream Media could not sell that plan. Bush could not sell that plan.
The GOP is afraid that if we have a real debate on Healthcare that what we will get more than 76% support?
They are so desperate they are relying on Brown shirt tactics. Why because the GOP alternative to National Healthcare is More of the Same.
The same lack of a plan and lack of ideas that killed John McCain’s campaign. The entire MSM, 100 Screaming Sarah Palin’s and a rent a mob can what bring our poll numbers down on this issue maybe 5,6 %?
Thats still above 60% support.

No if after spending all that money and unleashing a mob of brown shirts you think you can push the polls to 49% on this issue during a bad economy you are nuts. People are getting laid off everyday and losing their healthcare real unemployment numbers are probably higher than 10%.
The longer your side drags out a vote the more unemployed people running out of unemployment benefits there will be. And yes its amazing how the threat of poverty can change even Glen Beck’s followers minds about Healthcare.
The longer this drags out the more attention we get on this issue the more people will talk and educate themselves on this issue.
I feel that we win when the voters get educated about the issues. The GOP agrees with me thats why they are scared of debate.
But by calling in the Brown Shirts like that Pittsburgh Shooter the GOP has associated themselves with gun crazy nuts Moderate voters, women in particular are not going to like it.
Every time you teabaggers make the news stopping a healthcare town hall you give the issue publicity.
You spark voters memories you keep the issue in their heads. You also keep the idea that the GOP is a bunch of losers in people’s heads.
He is that evil, stupid, and an asshat to be in William the Bloody’s League? That much stupid should be affecting gravity.
Uh, The Repub plans to destroy Social Security were stopped by a truly bipartisan effort. Since the opposition was mostly elderly people, I’m willing to bet it might’ve been even more tilted to the conservative side.
Does this Ambinder fiction writer give any sort of proof for that claim, or does he just write it as if it’s truth? I’m guessing he offers no evidence whatsoever, because “false equivalency” is one of their favorite tactics. It’s like breathing to them.
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Kristof today. Ms. Collins, in “Barack’s Progress Report,” says at the rough half-year marker for the Obama presidency, things are pretty good. American influence is rising abroad, and at home nobody in the White House appears to be plotting to undermine our civil rights. Mr. Kristof, in “Rethinking North Korea, With Sticks,” says at times in the past, there seemed hope for diplomacy aimed at coaxing North Korea into giving up its nuclear program and joining the concert of nations. These days that seems virtually hopeless.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge for later, and I’ve got a selection of bagels with cream cheese. Yesterday afternoon we had another rip roaring thunderstorm, so I took the back way home rather than deal with one of the main drags with the street lights out. Folks here often drive stupid, and it just gets worse when it rains. Have a good day.
For the GOP to win they need Obama to fail first on something the Voters really really care care about like losing a war (Bush) not getting the American Hostages in Iran back (President Carter), a bad economy or just not fixing a bad economy.
Right now all of Obama’s problems are problems Bush left him. The GOP needs Obama to fail and for it to be entirely Obama’s own idea.
The GOP going all guns blazing calling all Crazies without even letting a debate happen is not giving Obama a chance to fail.
Instead it suggests weakness the GOP is afraid of a debate on Healthcare.
The party of the Common Man seems afraid of the Common Man discussing issues in Town Hall meetings being heard and respected by his Representatives, Senators, and President.
The Bush Legacy Project (Karl Rove ) does not want Obama to continue to meet regular people at town hall meetings debating the issues.
The comparison between Obama and the Dems meeting regular people to talk and Bush only meeting crowds PreSelected for Loyalty would make Bush look weak, puppet like so of course the GOP needs to stop Obama and the Dem’s from speaking.
Its not only our right to speak our mind the GOP is trying to take away its the Presidents.
I looked at the link opinion no evidence or even an attempt to build an argument.
I thought CNN leaned on is stations not to run these ads?
Somebody tampered with the Pittsburgh Shooters Web page? Isn’t that hiding evidence during a police investigation? Greg Mitchell did manage to save a few bits however are they still useable in court?
This evidence tampering needs to be looked at the only people I think who have anything to gain by tampering with the Pittsburgh shooters Diary are Glen Beck, the Milita Movement and the Shooter’s family.
Here was the first entry, which explains his early desire to “exit” and take a few people with him, but deciding to stick around until past last November’s election — and his sarcastic remarks about Obama. Later in the diary he complains about the ‘Obama economy.’
Planned to do this in the summer but figure to stick around to see the election outcome. This particular one got so much attention and I was just curious. Not like I give a flying fuck who won, since this exit plan was already planned. Good luck to Obama! He will be successful. The liberal media LOVES him.
Amerika has chosen The Black Man. Good! In light of this I got ideas outside of Obama’s plans for the economy and such. Here it is: Every black man should get a young white girl hoe to hone up on. Kinda a reverse indentured servitude thing. Long ago, many a older white male landowner had a young Negro wench girl for his desires. Bout’ time tables are turned on that shit. Besides, dem young white hoez dig da bruthrs! LOL. More so than they dig the white dudes!

I wonder how Glen Beck is covering this issue? Instead of a Patriot laying down his life so Rich people won’t have to pay higher taxes. We got a very angry guy who is very jealous about people Black people getting laid when he isn’t getting laid.
Glen this crazy makes you look weak man Weeeak!

The Tea baggers right to free speech ends when their rights interfere with my rights.
I know this was covered yesterday on some websites, but has anyone read the NYT article about the WH’s negotiations with drug companies? For $80 billion, the drug corporations made sure they weren’t going to suffer if healthcare reform is enacted.
“A deputy White House chief of staff, Jim Messina, confirmed Mr. Tauzin’s account of the deal in an e-mail message on Wednesday night.
“The president encouraged this approach,” Mr. Messina wrote. “He wanted to bring all the parties to the table to discuss health insurance reform.”

Rep. Grijalva is not happy about it.
Lefttown I think Scarecrow has a diary about in in the Seminal
Thanks.
Okay, but is it Tito, Marlon, Jackie or Michael?
It’s the lack of introspection and humility in our culture and the lies which support that.
To openly admit that one “could” be wrong invites a scrutiny few of us, liberal or conservative (crazy) takes alot more courage than most of us possess.
For instance, I’ve noticed that most people would rather be lied to than apologized to. If I make an apology, I’ve noticed a curious thing: not only do most of my apologee’s take this as a weakness, they also take it as an admission that my whole life has been wrong and I’ve given them permission to correct every aspect of it. :-)
They don’t realize that I’m attempting to take their point into consideration or their feelings and just, haul off on me.
Nonetheless, I am doing this for myself and not them. I am attempting to correct a mistake or attitude which may not work for me.
To live a life of self-review is most often too much work for most people and, therefore, they don’t grow spiritually. This seems to be endemic in America ( everywhere really) and I’ve also noticed that most people don’t grow beyond the point of their most profound childhood trauma…because they won’t/ can’t bear to examine the hurts they suffered at their parent’s hands/mouths/whatever. They say, at most, “they did the best they could” BS, I say.
Once we start to examine our past honestly, we can find all sorts of kinks in there which need to be ironed out. That’s WORK! most say. I don’t want to do it! So they remain childish adults and stop growing.
I think America and most of the world is comprised of great big kids who’ll never take responsibility for themselves and discipline themselves, and our leaders sure aren’t gonna do it, cause everyone thinks that makes them weak.
The result of this is what we see today, everywhere around us…predators and the people they prey on, condoned by a very sick society. A culture of man which is destroying the planet, usually with an outmoded religious lie at it’s base and all sorts of violence if it is perceived that one is not getting one’s way; because that’s what children do, isn’t it? Throw some sort of tantrum if balked.
Perfect example: that guy who killed all those wimmin in that gym because nobody would “date” him ( or not enough to HIS satisfaction). He was throwing a deadly tantrum. So’s Dobbs; and practically everyone who can’t stand that a black man is president. Or can’t stand the loss of whatever it is they think they should have/possess.
…The inability to recognize wrongness, or the possibility of it, is the beginning of madness and its source.
