Ah, Clapton channeling Freddie King. Also famously heard on Derek and the Dominos’ “Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs”. Freddie was one of Eric’s prime influences.
Lets’s hope some Senators feel this way about Sonia!
irrc this was recorded in the 90’s. saw ec twice once in the early 90 to mid 90’s and once again in 2004. the vibe of this video is much more in like with those 90’s shows – a bluesier kinda show.
Yeah I saw him on this tour- the “blues tour” where he didn’t really play any of his hits but hardcore stuff like Jimmy Rogers and Lowell Fulsom stuff from his album “From The Cradle”. Don’t know how the uninitiated felt about that…I loved it but I can’t do large area shows anymore. That was the last one. Clubs and small theatres only for me now.
blackwater – looks like they may have murdered some employees who were about to testify about their murderous ways in iraq. blackwater petitioned the court for a gag order on all parties. previously they’ve leaked when they thought it to their advantage. hearing set for august 7 on the gag order.
I didn’t see anything on FDL today about Secretary Clinton threatening the Brits if they release evidence of Bush’s war crimes…is that old news? I’ve been out of touch of late.
yes, yes and yes. and let him take some other low lifes with him. top o’ the list:
the dick, rummy, oh god, i can’t go on, i’ll be here all night just getting madder and madder.
Eric is a real Prince of a fella. Geez. My first mother-in-law’s maiden name was Prince and she was from east TN. Way too close to North Carolina. God. I hope my kids aren’t related to that murdering xtian asshole.
I’m confused. I just went back to Lisa’s thread, and the link works there. I’m just not savy. I copied the link from google. Why would it work downstairs and not here?
mental state all gone to hell. well, not that it’s ever been exactly perfect, but 8 years of the devils in the white house and now devil lite doesn’t make it any easier. *she said sitting down and taking a load off*
it was today. i saw him today – he pulled two teeth and when i see him on the 17th i’ll have a root canal on a bottom tooth and some other work done. then he moves back to the top teeth until they are all pulled and i get an upper plate.
i know. i finished all my schooling in that area and never come up that way anymore. it may happen yet, but i miss getting to see you and ron. naturally, you are welcome here anytime – i highly don’t recommend even thinking about this place til october tho. the brain melts just thinking about being here.
i think the chances of him flipping are none. i’d guess he’ll be relying on his liars lawyers and on who else he can remove who might testify against him.
i saw this movie repeatedly when it came out. alan freed used to put on rock and roll shows a few times a year. the shows would repeat all day alternating with the grade b/c/d movie du jour. that one time it was Lure of the Swamp. by the end of the day, my friends and i knew a good deal of the lines by heart. one that we repeated over and over through the years was “Now you really need me, Simon.”
Right on. Did you know that he toured with Muddy Waters (who wrote that song-well I think Willie Dixon might have wrote it but Muddy made it famous) in the late ’70s?
aw thanks kelly – i used to be a great cook but cooking for just me – well, i lost my motivation.
in addition to getting my smile back i’m working on being better to myself. am trying to cook more interesting things instead of the same ole same ole – having teeth will be a bit motivator to branching out.
Where might I ask (generally)? I’m fixin’ to go up to Portland/Eugene area to take my step daughter to visit some colleges in two weeks. I’m looking forward to a break, weather-wise.
(And, btw, nice to meet another Clapton/blues fan in the innertubes…)
Suz, I had all my top teeth pulled in one sitting. Wasn’t as awful as one might imagine. Guy who did it was good. Saving bottom teeth insofar as possible (for anchors) really is the priority.
You will feel *great* when it’s over..
(My lot was cast when I was a young teen. Had a gum infection that an incompetent dentist tried to treat with vitamin c. By the time I got to an internist and antibiotics, the inevitable outcome was clear. Extensive periodontal surgery bought me a few years, but it was hell.)
Yes-”North of Ordinary” according to the Chamber of Commerce types here. Actually, Denton is very cool-nice music scene: lots of bands, clubs, etc. Fairly liberal for the area (although Burgess is our Republican Rep)…
i had full band braces as a kid for two years – they damaged teh enamal on my teeth near the gumline. i hear ya with the lot cast.
we talked about the priorities today. one of the broken teeth was bothering me so it took it and its match on the other side. we save the bottom teeth on the 17th.
well i must have come right through there when i moved here in ‘93 from oregon. i just found it on teh google. we’ve got the king of liberal -doggett. i don’t know anything about burgess. is he a flippin lunatic like the rest of them or some sort of sane version of republican?
i way past my bedtime. i love hanging out on late night. i’d love it if it was earlier. the choices we all have to make. but i take myself to sleep now. be sweet and play nice.
Where are you? I just got back from Austin last week. SoCo is one of my fave places but 300K for a lot? No thanks. Hurts me but, hell, its only 3 hours away.
Yeah, Denton is on I-35. Some sort of “sane” but, what does that mean anymore? I’m toying with the idea of calling his office tomorrow and seeing if I can get the staffer to give me some idea of where he stands on the tea-bagging phenomena…
This is related; I hooked up with a friend that I made back in high school – 1978. Via Facebook, believe it or not.
Was a best friend and lover back in those days. Haven’t seen him in 15 years, and once you talk on the phone with a person like that, it’s as if time had never passed. We’re fucking getting AARP invitations fergawdsake.
i’m in the travis country subdivision off of southwest parkway off of south mopac. the house backs up to the barton creek greenbelt – which is why i bought it. the realtor figured out pretty quickly that as soon as i walked into a house, the first thing i wanted to do was go out the back door and see what that felt like.
well, dood, i need to know when you come to austin. we can gather the central texas firepups and give you a grand old welcome.
I usually buy Glenfiddich for the taste. I stopped into Trader Jope’s last week and they market “Lismore.” Hadn’t had it before but for $20/bottle, c’mon.
Not nearly as good as the Glenfiddich, but better than any “regular” scotch.
BCT & I were discussing the various “Glens” earlier … Glenfiddich is a fav of both of us and I’ve gotten many friends to appreciate Single Malts by introducing them to it.
lisa features the best movies. i’m not usually a movie kinda gal but i am loving the ones she’s featuring. i saw the muslim preaching in the prison one on pbs and it was kinda cool to be able to sit and chat with the creators.
Sorry about the lisp. So far I’ve been spared that.
A disquieting tidbit picked up along the road. Dental adhesive is not regulated by the fda, or anyone. It’s considered an appliance. I was using a private label brand and so much of it, started asking questions that I wished I hadn’t. This info from the lab (in the USA) who manufactures it..
reminds me of a tequila bar i was at – they had hundreds of tequilas available. some of the shots were very high priced. i had some 100% blue agave that was $15/shot and well worth it. dayam that was smooth. served in a sniffer and bright blue color.
Connemara is not just whiskey. I had a troop of those little bastards under my care for a summer in Scottsdale in ‘79 and I’ll tell you, such an ill tempered lot of horseflesh was never seen.
See, now I’m talking all brouge-ish. It just came with those horses! Really!
“Burn down” is a great piano song to fly on. Afriend of mine was similar to you, stylistically and he brought the house down. We’d meet at his house when we were home (from college) and spend one day and night playing and singing and drinking and smoking.
Exclusive Party of Richie Riches … had two doubles of it.
Many aficionados pooh pooh its existence but it is really, really exclusive because I haven’t seen it since. If it was a fake, the Host would have known … he had all kinds of exclusive Whiskeys.
When I was piano-whoring, people would say “Do you take requests?” And I’d say Yes.
When that asked for “Stardust” I’d say, oh, sorry, I don’t know that song.
Then one time in Santa Fe at the El Dorado Hotel in 1991, the same scenario happened. Well about 15 minute later I played this.
Lady came back to me and said, “How come you didn’t play that when I asked you to?” Turns out I thought the song was called “Sometimes I wonder” cause that’s the first words of the first verse.
i have that problem all the time with songs… thank goodness i can type in the first few words of the song in their search engine and can find the song and hopefully the artist i’m thinking of.
My whole town was music oriented. Quite a few went on to be professional musicians. A lot of friends used to play the bars and I would go up and sing Springsteen, Jackson Brown, etc. Really fun.
The Glenfiddich comes in this beautiful 3-sided bottle, so that’s how you can remember it. Either of the “glens” are great for beginner sippers, although I still drink either.
If you get a more bitter single (by comparison) you can add ice.
suz!
this is put on the headphones, crank it up, and let the music take ya away
hey spur – how’s the bay area tonight?
Excellent!
yes
I’m reading tomorrow’s funnies, which have really kinda stopped being funny and are actually quite depressing and/or rage-inducing.
hey spotts – let the music take ya away (like i’m doing)

Ah, Clapton channeling Freddie King. Also famously heard on Derek and the Dominos’ “Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs”. Freddie was one of Eric’s prime influences.
Lets’s hope some Senators feel this way about Sonia!
Carry on, y’all…
Just beautiful tonight with the full moon and no visibility problems. I go outside and cannot believe it!
i was outta touch all day long. what kinda fuckery happened today?
hey chuckindenton – really is forking good music
Hi Suzanne-
Yeah, I loves me some Clapton playing the blues. As for what happened today? Well, maybe the tea baggers have shot their wad, so to speak…
nice guitar… Sir Eric
irrc this was recorded in the 90’s. saw ec twice once in the early 90 to mid 90’s and once again in 2004. the vibe of this video is much more in like with those 90’s shows – a bluesier kinda show.

hey demi – that link don’t work
Yeah I saw him on this tour- the “blues tour” where he didn’t really play any of his hits but hardcore stuff like Jimmy Rogers and Lowell Fulsom stuff from his album “From The Cradle”. Okay, sorry, it’s not working. I pasted it downstairs, clicked and it worked. I give up. Going to bed.
I didn’t see anything on FDL today about Secretary Clinton threatening the Brits if they release evidence of Bush’s war crimes…is that old news? I’ve been out of touch of late.
i saw the mr johnson tour – had billy preston on keyboards and he had robert randolph and the family band opening for him.
good show but diff feel than the 90’s stuff.
i h-a-t-e the big concert venues. all cavernous and the accoustics are never good.
sorry :( g’nite demi
holy moley
And Eric Prince has big money and mad lawyers. It would be beautiful to see that creep fall.
i heard about big dog’s adventures but not this
i remember seeing something like that a while back, but i don’t remember any details. i didn’t see anything today anywhere about that.
Suz ! Eric !
Truly a musical genius …
Word. Can one really get bad vibes from just a name? “Blackwater”. Sheesh-sounds like a B movie.
Oh, yeah. This will be big. Especially if he gets a lesser sentence for pointing to his higher powers.
petro!
gw!
I think I read it on Sunday. Pretty disappointing.
RIP Billy Preston-truly one of the greats and Robert Randolph? Damn!
yes, yes and yes. and let him take some other low lifes with him. top o’ the list:
the dick, rummy, oh god, i can’t go on, i’ll be here all night just getting madder and madder.
evening suz, pups.
Dunno what the fuckers are up to – I’m on the ignore setting.
hey sunny – come sit here by me on the uninformed bench. wonder if that’s anything like the group w bench.
Eric is a real Prince of a fella. Geez. My first mother-in-law’s maiden name was Prince and she was from east TN. Way too close to North Carolina. God. I hope my kids aren’t related to that murdering xtian asshole.
preston died fairly soon thereafter. he was playing his heart out and having a rocking good time.
robert randolph and the guys dayam near brought down the house – they were forking hot
hey mary mcc hows sac tonight?
Hello people!
Am getting hinky results here, taking a long time to refresh the page; just me?
For my money, this guy should be behind bars. I hope he doesn’t flip.
A really disgraceful sort.
hey kelly :(
Well, with Arlo and the others…

hey kelly – try clearing your cache and let me know if you are still having trouble
gotta wait for it to come around again on the gui-tar tho…
Hey back – now that I’ve made a comment, seems to be normal page re-load.
OK, since that shit is over with, HI FDL!
I’m confused. I just went back to Lisa’s thread, and the link works there. I’m just not savy. I copied the link from google. Why would it work downstairs and not here?
Between C street xtians and Blackwater and Falwell types I am surprised we have a country left. oh wait…..
Israel’s Defence Minister and most decorated War Hero Ehud Barak said Obama will present a MidEast Peace Deal shortly … Linky via TPM
“I believe that Israel must take the lead in accepting the plan,” Barak was quoted as saying.
I choked up while reading this … a deal is closer than ever. Of course the NeoCons are going to go all out to scuttle it but they will lose !
i dunno demi – when i clicked on it i got a fb 404 kinda deal.
am i the only one having trouble wtih that link?
my stars – i guess i should stay outta the loop more often

Hey Greenwarrior. Long time no see. in person I mean.
the link worked for me at the end of the previous thread.
thanks gw
sending luvly vibes through the tubes for easy going tomorrow.
I’d put big money against his flipping. My tin foil says he’s part of long term plan that endures.
Kelly !
the link on the last thread worked
cute couple
LOL! Awesome.
mental state all gone to hell. well, not that it’s ever been exactly perfect, but 8 years of the devils in the white house and now devil lite doesn’t make it any easier. *she said sitting down and taking a load off*
He’s a POS, but I don’t know if he’s a coward. His thing is religious wankerism IIRC, so he may see going down with the ship as dutiful.
it was today. i saw him today – he pulled two teeth and when i see him on the 17th i’ll have a root canal on a bottom tooth and some other work done. then he moves back to the top teeth until they are all pulled and i get an upper plate.
And Obama kissed and made up with Helen Thomas …
i know. i finished all my schooling in that area and never come up that way anymore. it may happen yet, but i miss getting to see you and ron. naturally, you are welcome here anytime – i highly don’t recommend even thinking about this place til october tho. the brain melts just thinking about being here.
so if i seem sorta loopy tonight…. it’s been a long day
PETRO!
HEY PETRO!!! We’ve crossed blogs.
Sorry, the refresh at my end is slowish. Bear with, friends :)
So Suz, are you all drugged up, at least?
i think the chances of him flipping are none. i’d guess he’ll be relying on his
liarslawyers and on who else he can remove who might testify against him.The only thing that saves the hot weather is the fact that it gets down to 60 in the evenings. I don’t think I could stand it otherwise.
Have you got a video of you playing any of Clapton’s stuff uploaded ?
{{{{{ Loo Hoo }}}}}
i almost went with this song tonight
hey emerson
medicated is the official term :)
i saw this movie repeatedly when it came out. alan freed used to put on rock and roll shows a few times a year. the shows would repeat all day alternating with the grade b/c/d movie du jour. that one time it was Lure of the Swamp. by the end of the day, my friends and i knew a good deal of the lines by heart. one that we repeated over and over through the years was “Now you really need me, Simon.”
it’d be hysterical to see that movie again.
Hah!!Then tell your dentist “Gin” is the proper name. *g*
No – but I am going to have some time; me partner is running up to Grand Junction to do some biz with the folks, so I have some time to make a vid.
For Clapton, I’d be inclined to “If I Could Change The World”
But I’m open to ideas. :)
i misremembered the day. how’re you feeling?
jin is spelled teh same as a character in lost…
loopy but ok had poached eggs a little while ago and that helped a lot – had not eaten today.
doesn’t 60 sound delightful? it’s 1:00 am here and 85.
I need to get up to your neck of the woods an cook for you. I’d love it, you’d love it.
Ahh the intertubes are great, but no substitute for actual being and doing….
58 outside here – have a fire going to help chase off the damp
so is jin good and painless?
Could you tolerate some Dominos with your Derek?
Evil has funky timing and slim vocals.
a fire to chase off the damp. hah. you must be living in heaven.
Right on. Did you know that he toured with Muddy Waters (who wrote that song-well I think Willie Dixon might have wrote it but Muddy made it famous) in the late ’70s?
Must. Stop. Talking. About. Clapton. And. Blues.
aw thanks kelly – i used to be a great cook but cooking for just me – well, i lost my motivation.
in addition to getting my smile back i’m working on being better to myself. am trying to cook more interesting things instead of the same ole same ole – having teeth will be a bit motivator to branching out.
jin was very good and gentle.
nice slip of the tongue.
no need to stop on my account and no i didn’t know that.
Arrgghh! Still in the 80s and humid here in Tejas.
Excellent! Hang in there and don’t be bashful about over-medicating.
whoops my slip is showing :) how freudian of me
i’m loving life on the oregon coast
why i do believe you owe me a beverage – please see my 97.
Oh Yeah!
Excellent choice !
Coming right up-what’ll you have?
*tossing open the usually locked cabinet doors*
drinks on the house tonight – sometimes having the keys to the place is a very good thing
thanks, i’ll just help myself….pina colada sounds about right.
Where might I ask (generally)? I’m fixin’ to go up to Portland/Eugene area to take my step daughter to visit some colleges in two weeks. I’m looking forward to a break, weather-wise.
(And, btw, nice to meet another Clapton/blues fan in the innertubes…)
where’s denton? is it near dallas?
I have just been through all that teeth thing.
Such beautiful new hardware.
Such crazy speech pathology.
I got over a stutter a long time ago; in middle school, and that was markedly alarming and formative.
Bully for me, I get to get over a fabulous new lisp now! So Very Exciting for a queen of my age!
OK I’ll get over my pity thing now.
Weeeeee!
You’ll regret this!
Suz, I had all my top teeth pulled in one sitting. Wasn’t as awful as one might imagine. Guy who did it was good. Saving bottom teeth insofar as possible (for anchors) really is the priority.
You will feel *great* when it’s over..

i’m on netarts bay which is west of tillamook and south of tillamook bay.
portland and eugene have some great schools.
What a crack-up!
that’s assuming i remember it dood

You don’t say? Well, I wanna try Petro’s Highland Park. Where are the large snifters?
hey suz i’m glad you’re not diving and doing drugs.
to the left above the blenders.
LOL… i’m only diving on sat nites – i should be back to prime (whatever that is) by then.
Sending one your way, dood !
BTW, what’s your fave Single Malt ?
Hi Chuck, another Clapton/blues fan here, glad to meet you.
i way past my bedtime. i love hanging out on late night. i’d love it if it was earlier. the choices we all have to make. but i take myself to sleep now. be sweet and play nice.
Where are you? I just got back from Austin last week. SoCo is one of my fave places but 300K for a lot? No thanks. Hurts me but, hell, its only 3 hours away.

i’m bailing out too
see you pups later
group w to prime in just a few days. sounds like “leaping tall buildings in a single bound”.
g’nite gw and newton
Oy! Sounds so familiar.
So I put a song up, where I actually sing.
Yes, Kill Me Now, or
Pay me extra to not sing at your event!
But I just love Melissa Manchester. Sorry I just do.
Hi Margot-
Any personal fave albums/artists?
I’m getting some tomorrow, Petro. Referrals from single malt aficionados are never wrong.
wow
oh, do call. and let us know what happens.
i’m in the travis country subdivision off of southwest parkway off of south mopac. the house backs up to the barton creek greenbelt – which is why i bought it. the realtor figured out pretty quickly that as soon as i walked into a house, the first thing i wanted to do was go out the back door and see what that felt like.
well, dood, i need to know when you come to austin. we can gather the central texas firepups and give you a grand old welcome.
I really wish I coulda been on the thread when Lisa Derrick was hosting that Movie deal of the folks in West Hollywood – I forget what it was called.
But I could so totally relate. :)
G’nite GW & Newt !
“Someone like you always takes the long way home”. Damn. Thanks for the performance and link.
this one?
oh you are good, dood.
I usually buy Glenfiddich for the taste. I stopped into Trader Jope’s last week and they market “Lismore.” Hadn’t had it before but for $20/bottle, c’mon.
Not nearly as good as the Glenfiddich, but better than any “regular” scotch.
I’d be honored! When Texas secedes, Austin must be made a “free city”! LOL!
Brilliant, Kelly !
Thats IT!
God I loved that.
I really miss those days. I was at the end, but damn, it was so fun to play for the Divas-Of-The-Day.
BCT & I were discussing the various “Glens” earlier … Glenfiddich is a fav of both of us and I’ve gotten many friends to appreciate Single Malts by introducing them to it.
Like I said, I get paid extra to not sing….
But I luvs me some Melissa Manchester. She’s the one who’s actually brill…
Just saying
lisa features the best movies. i’m not usually a movie kinda gal but i am loving the ones she’s featuring. i saw the muslim preaching in the prison one on pbs and it was kinda cool to be able to sit and chat with the creators.
Glenlivet!
Also, an excellent choice!
okay, now i’m really going to sleep. g’nite pups. and thanks for opening the cabinet suz.
g’nite for realsies gw
yeah, I saw that later. And you’re right, the 12-year old single is the smoothest. Tasted the 18 once. Takes some getting used to. *g*
Well, I guess its time for me to call it. “You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here”. Thanks Firepups!
Mmm, Glenlivet, maybe some Glenfiddich.
Y’all are getting me way Scottish.
And hello, I’m KELLY! That’s way beyond me Irish!
Yer killin me :)
g’nite chuck
I’ve had some older stuff that I can’t possibly afford … unbelievable over Ice !
We talked about Irish Single Malt as well – Connemara & Black Label are apparently great.
That’s probably better than neat for the older stuff. How much, Petro, couple grand?
I’m guessing at least that. I even had 75 year old Johnny Walker … something I never knew even existed.
reminds me of a tequila bar i was at – they had hundreds of tequilas available. some of the shots were very high priced. i had some 100% blue agave that was $15/shot and well worth it. dayam that was smooth. served in a sniffer and bright blue color.
Do you know the Connemara Ponies?
Connemara is not just whiskey. I had a troop of those little bastards under my care for a summer in Scottsdale in ‘79 and I’ll tell you, such an ill tempered lot of horseflesh was never seen.
See, now I’m talking all brouge-ish. It just came with those horses! Really!
I was given an old bottle of Laphroaig (sp?). Powerful stuff.
Hey Kelly, you play “Still Crazy” by Simon or “Burn down the Mission” by Elton?
OOH-that’s really good stuff, Sunny. Friend use to pour that alot.
For whatever weird reason on my part, I have never played much Elton.
But I could whoop up “Still Crazy”. Solo. That being said:
I’m looking for a singer here in Denver, cause that’s what I do best; accompany. I love playing for singers.
whoa, never heard of that. Did you see it in a bar?
Mmmm … that is good stuff !
Biggest bar tab came in my 20’s, with a new millionaire who took several friends out for Hennessy Cognac & Cigars.
Cognac was over a hundred years old and cost > $100 an ounce. He kept ordering Doubles along with the Cubans …
LOL !!!
I’ve never had that and must get a bottle … you’re the nth person in the last few days to mention it.
Unpronounceable stuff for sure :-)
Stones, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, just to name a few. And I had a grandma who was born in Denton. ;)
3 a.m. in Toronto … G’nite all !
OK – here’s a story.

If only there were blogs at the time…
g’nite petro
i have that problem all the time with songs… thank goodness i can type in the first few words of the song in their search engine and can find the song and hopefully the artist i’m thinking of.

See!
Thank dog I don’t gig anymore.
She shoulda tipped ya! You would have said, “How does it go?” *g*
:) I know – “Humm a few bars” woulda got me a long way, eh?
But that was a long time ago.
Woman who gave it to me was a brit – she was a huge fan. Haven’t seen/heard of it for years. Mostly I recall it being distinctive and very pungent.
OK, one last piano whoring, here’s a lullaby from Franz Liszt. And I gotta go night night.
I appreciate you all; thanks for putting up with me.
Kelly
My whole town was music oriented. Quite a few went on to be professional musicians. A lot of friends used to play the bars and I would go up and sing Springsteen, Jackson Brown, etc. Really fun.
sweet ear candy kelly – g’nite
emerson – what was it we were sipping at the meetup?
I know that piece-beautiful. Thanks!
Yhat was single malt, Suz. I think I brought Glenlivet. It was good, huh?
i’ve never much cared for booze that tasted like booze but that was smooth sipping. was that scotch or a whiskey?
nite all… got a book to finish before I revisit the current fuckery.
(adding fuckery to my spell check)
The Glenfiddich comes in this beautiful 3-sided bottle, so that’s how you can remember it. Either of the “glens” are great for beginner sippers, although I still drink either.
If you get a more bitter single (by comparison) you can add ice.
g’nite Sunny.
i’m fading fast pups. g’nite and thank you for the discussions tonight.
g’nite all.
scotch. I think the whiskey isn’t quite as smooth, but others may think differently. I have more experience with the scotches.
Nite Suz, Sure you’ll sleep well tonite/
