The best lawmakers money can buy.
We already know that the Republicans and conservative Democrats, known as the “Blue Dogs,’’ are dead-set defenders of a status quo where 46 million Americans are uninsured. They were the first to be bought off by the $263 million in lobbying by the health sector this year, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics.
But will other Democrats be slowly picked off, and allow reform to be picked apart into irrelevance in the coming weeks, given that the party long ago took single-payer off the table?
Back In the 2008 election, the health sector contributed nearly $20 million to Obama’s campaign, more than twice the amount it gave to Republican John McCain. But now that the issue has come to the fore, the political action committees of the top five contributors in 2008 – the American Dental Association, the American Hospital Association, the American Medical Association, Pfizer, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists – have all given thousands of dollars to the Blue Dog PAC.
I’m sure Pfizer and the AMA and are just worried about the deficit.

‘Mornin, BT, now off to watch the clip.
hey guys. can somebody help me out? at their leisure of course. the R’s are always quoting some bogus imnsurance industry “insitute” as if its conclusions were legit and unbiased (and not being called on it!!!). read about it here, I think. Anybody remember when that was? last Friday?
Yes, but the 46 million includes a lot of little brown people. As during the Vietnam War, “true” Americans have decided the LBP don’t count.
KO did a good job. Not much io anything Firepups didn’t already know from here. But good to see somebody saying it on the TeeBee.
Between Robinson’s birther op-ed, Schuster’s nutty interview with Dr. Orly, and KO’s special comment, I’m having a very cheery morning.
For a change.
SO…Money talks. Would it make any difference in the process if we the people really get it that all/most of our reps are bought and paid for? O is it already such a given?
I just found out on WJ that Adm Joe Sestak will challenge Arlen Spector for the senate. Very good.

DeMint just doesn’t like that cash for clunkers; out of control gov., dontcha’ know?
Gov’t picking winners and losers. People who breathe win. Not fair.
Sestak needs to hang Singshot Sphincter by the nuts for his association with the Kennedy murderers.
Joe Sestak would have been 12 yrs old in 1963. There are are a lot of issues that would be more current and relevant to his constituents.
The Lewin Group
Wow! Over a quarter billion just to influence the direction of a specific piece of legislation. That’s some serious dosh.
I suppose they see it like giving money to people… which is nothing like tax cuts which stims the economy (hahaha) and let’s people keep their money.
Of course the CfC program has multiple benefits to the economy and the environment while directly helping people with old lousy cars, workers in Detroit, dealers everywhere and the cascading process that people buying in the real economy actually raises all boats.
This jerks are such dimwits.

chump change.
Oh puhleez, let’s not start that crap again.
You’re totally okay with rubbing out a popularly elected president?
I wonder how many years it will take CfC to become energy neutral, let alone energy efficient. The new cars apparently get 10 mpg more than the trashed cars, but how long does it take for that to make up for the energy consumed in mining, refining, shaping metals for new cars, petroleum products in new car plastics & tires, energy required to trash old cars and cart them to recycling or trash facilities. Havn’t seen anyone mention that.
thanks. Just heard somebody quote them the other day. I can’t believe they don’t get called out on that. wait. actually, i can believe it. sad.
Mornin’, BT, pups
Today is the 41st anniversary of the alleged 2nd attack on USS MADDOX and USS C TURNER JOY in the Gulf of Tonkin. The alleged 3rd incident, involving USS MORTON and USS RICHARD S EDWARDS occurred a few days later. Ah, the good ol’ days of the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club.
KO,
Keep the fight going. A beautiful piece of journalism. Absolutely perfect.
It would be good to make sure that clip makes on many posts today.
dammit – where’s my umbrella? Gotta be in court muy pronto.
I am so gonna fire
him/herme.Chyeah!
Msmolly
Some folks would prefer to see Sestak lose as long as his old dead horse is beat a few more times.
Appreciate the honesty.
USS MORTON (DD 948)
I appreciate the fact you’re a garden variety tinfoil nutbar.
Are you implying there is a statute of limitations for the murder of a president, so it’s fine to leave the dirt under the rug?
Where were you when JFK took the hit?
On this date in 1961, Barack Obama was born in

SD, Did you get a vet update? Good Morning
Sorry Mike, that excuse isn’t good enough. Too many outrages have already been allowed to slip into history.
No, I’m gonna wait until Thursday. Daily weights are too erratic to be meaningful so I’ve been keeping a chart of both daily and weekly weights. Thursday is the weekly mark. It will have been five weeks but I can’t keep her over 6 lbs. I’m also seeing some neuro signs I don’t like, unsteadiness, trance-like episodes. Thanks for asking. I’m runnin’ out of hope.
This was KO’s best IMO. No over-the-top ranting, just the facts. Too bad he’s preaching to the choir.
I am so sorry…that’s hard to watch. Years back I had a Yorkie who began with those symptoms…turned out to be kidney trouble. Angela and I are with you and the sibs…I know it’s family. My best.
This is an excellent point when one decides to trim their carbon footprint. Take solar panels.
The cost to make them has environmental consequences which needs to be factored against the savings. It seems as if right now there IS no savings. The end use may see some benefits, but the planet may not.
Christy has a post up

I don’t believe Lee Oswald was the lone assassin. The facts say otherwise.
SD at 20 — 41st? Don’t you mean 45th?
I think both Dr and I know in our guts we’re dealing with cancer.
Duh. Can’t count. Geez. Thanks. You’d think having been there…
40? 45? One has to count the years that way, I do believe.
(((((((((((( Dragon)))))))))))) make every minute count. Love is your most powerful elixir now.
Thank you. Love is the only elixir I’ve got now but I’ve got an endless supply.
Dude, Oswald acted alone. Sorry, I know it sucks to accept, but if they haven’t found anything out in forty years, there’s nothing to find.
Han shot first!!1!
While I dig the Tonkin Gulf Yacht stuff, one simply cannot forget the USS Liberty.
