On Monday, Glenn Beck will argue that Pres. Obama is secretly an ancient Mayan God who will eat our souls to bring about the end of the world, starting with human sacrifice, and only Glenn Beck can stop him.
On Tuesday, Lou Dobbs will follow up with a special report saying, now, *he* doesn’t think Obama is secretly an ancient 2000-year-old Mayan God, but, you know, questions have been raised.
On Tuesday evening, CNN President Jon Klein will politely say “well, you know, we don’t actually have any *evidence,* per se, that Obama is an ancient Mayan God, and maybe we should hold off on throwing around accusations.”
On Wednesday, Lou Dobbs will invite Klein onto his show, whereupon Dobbs will pull out a shotgun, blow Klein’s face off, look directly into a camera, and say “There. THAT’S taken care of.” He will be praised by wingnuts for his manliness.
On Thursday, Rush Limbaugh will say there was a liberal conspiracy to frame Lou Dobbs for murder, and that Barack Obama is not just an ancient Mayan God, he’s secretly being controlled by an army of zombie squirrels.
On Friday, Bill O’Reilly will say that, okay, Obama *is* an evil ancient Mayan God, but the squirrel thing–that’s just crazy.
On Saturday, the actual Mayans will show up to pull the hearts out of Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill O’Reilly. Millions will cheer.

George Lakoff taught us that framing is everything and what Americans are victims of continually is the distortion of whats going on by the perversion, intentional or not of language.

In addition, no one is discussing what insurance is SUPPOSED to be – means for people to share risk at a reasonable cost. What it’s turned into is a business that poses as this but whose purpose is profit. This is true of ALL businesses which have dropped all pretense (even) of their having a social purpose.

The “conspiracy” is simply that every player in the health game is in it for money… well many or so many of them that they have turned the entire sector into a regular old USA capitalist business.

Think of a the movie business. To the producer/investors it’s about money. They could care less what the subject or topic is. Within the industry there are people who want to convey a message, who are artists and so on, and some who want both money and message (or art). But as an “industry” it can only be seen as a for profit sector. We have arts grants, Indy films and so on, but in the end, the chain of theatres, the advertisers, and so on are the blood suckers to the industry.. or are the industry.

Even if we has universal single payer, we still have economic abuse by for profit health providers and these need to be cleaned up.

When you think that reform means many will lose their lucrative jobs, incomes, investments and so on and this sector is so large, a lot of well off interests are fighting very hard not to lose their $$.

Once the abuse has been striped out, the cash cow is killed there are no more ways to laugh all the way to the bank.

There will continue to be abuses since it’s hard to completely remove for profit companies from any industry and these will continue to inflate costs.

I suppose in the end the only way to do this is by progressive tax which makes making oodles of cash not possible.

Just saw a video up on Crooks and Liars in which some winger claims to have proof positive that Obama is the antichrist but then goes on to say that no way he’s actually suggesting he is the antichrist. He was merely pointing out that he could be the antichrist. You know, in some alternate reality in which wingers make sense and up is down.

Why would they consider buying coffins in this economy? Aren’t mass graves good enough?

This woman is effin crazy! I tried to read the whole myspace page of hers but couldn’t get past 3 or 4 blogs. She needs to be in Bellevue Hospital, doing the Thorazine Shuffle. I wonder how many others like her are out there? If you think about it, people like her are a total sum of Beck.
