They put all the minority (Freeport, Westbury, New Cassell, Hempstead, Wyandanch, Brentwood), liberal Jewish (Great Neck, Roslyn) and working class Democrats (Huntington, Bay Shore) areas into NY-02 and NY-04 to make those safer for Democrats.

Of course none of those towns are in his district. Hempstead, Westbury and Freeport are in McCarthy’s, Babylon, Islip are in Steve Israel’s and Brookhaven is mostly in Tim Bishops…you know where the teabaggers descended on Bishop? That’s part of Brookhaven.

Having said that, I’m from Long Island…his district is VERY different than the surrounding districts…seriously, it’s f*cking scary.

The way it stands now unless you are basically healthy until you die you’ll give everything you have to the Insruance and Pharma companies. And they are going to fight tooth and nail to hold onto that especially since the boomers are getting to the point of needing more healthcare.

Thought so. Thanks. So he’s now trying to leverage O’Reilly-ness to force his way into the Senate race. I’m sure he represents a certain type of Long Islander, or are his constituents not paying attention?

The trouble with critters is that their constituency is not the voters but their special interests who pay for their campaigns.

Twain, that reply wasn’t meant for your post but for post 46, the poster I suggested was naive. I’ve never thought you were naive.

Speaking of mansions, how’s the housing market been doing in NY-03? If it’s anything like the wealthier parts of other metropolitan areas, the high end homes took a huge hit in price, and while the low-end market is recovering, the mansions are sitting around unsold.

The NYT had this to say back in May:

According to Propertyshark.com, an online company that tracks real estate data, there were 943 new foreclosures on the Island in the first quarter of this year, a two-year high, up 77 percent compared with the first quarter of 2008.

In Nassau County there were 626 new foreclosures in the first three months of the year, up 208 percent from a year ago, with the highest numbers in Hempstead, Westbury and Freeport.

Suffolk had 317 new foreclosures in the first quarter, up 14 percent from the last three months of 2008, with the highest numbers in Brookhaven, Islip and Babylon.

Looks to me like this is the heart of the district. If King is ignoring the economic hit in housing, he’s going to have trouble tapping those wealthy donors.
